By far, Stacks Diner served the best meal I had during my Amsterdam trip. The team was incredibly friendly, and a special thanks to Kevin for reopening the kitchen for us even though they were about to close. The Biscuit Chicken Burger was absolutely mind-blowing, easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. It’s definitely on my list of places to revisit, and I’ll be coming back for it the next time I’m in Amsterdam. Thanks again to the entire team, and especially to the lovely Kevin, for such a memorable experience!

Without a doubt, this was the best chicken burger I’ve ever had. The biscuit bun and the chicken were both absolutely incredible. A huge thank you to Kevin for making us feel so welcome and for reopening the kitchen just to make us chicken burgers, even though it had already closed. Stacks was amazing. Super friendly staff and a good experience all round. We didn’t have a reservation and they were accommodating and helpful with any menu questions. We got the spicy fried chicken, the sausage, egg & cheese biscuit and the pancakes (a MUST HAVE)! All items were fantastic, and reasonably priced for the area. Will definitely be returning! Highly recommend!

I didn’t really have high expectations but the food really surprised me. The place looks very cosy and low key. we were told that the chef wanted to try something new (out of nowhere ) so our starter was another special dish. We felt like it was an excuse for not having the ingredients. However the staff is really nice so we were happy to oblige either way. The food came. The entrecote is quite expensive but absolutely delicious. The other dishes are quite “small” in feel but packed with flavour. Wish could give zero star. We had a reservation (we paid reservation fee), ordered food and waited 30-40 min. They did not even bring our drinks. Everyone except us get their food. They apparently forgot our order. The stuff that we ordered is sold out. Do not waste your money with the bad service.

Food: Excellent! The ribeye hit the mark, properly seasoned with just light salting that let the meat’s flavor shine. Hash browns taste just like home, the outstanding sour cream paired with caviar created a wonderful blend, and everything looked fantastic! The fried chicken biscuit with honey butter and a touch of spice is something I could enjoy all day, as the bread gave it rich texture. Service: They are the essential component of everything offered here, they made me want to become a regular. I believe it matters that they are highly attentive and, above all, communicate effectively. Atmosphere: The kitchen and bar connect seamlessly, allowing you to join their rhythm. The music strikes the right note, not overwhelming, which matters to me. Chairs feel comfortable, tables stay tidy, and the decoration delights. The space feels warm and welcoming.

The overall experience was more average than we expected. The food wasn't bad, but it was extremely salty and overpriced in our opinion. €8-10 for a glass of wine felt like a rip-off

I’ve been here a few times and the quality of food and service is always excellent. The vibe is always buzzing and fun. It really is a top notch diner with great food and their doughnuts and cinnamon buns can’t be missed.

No reservations: we walked in and were seated right away. We found it in two seconds on Google, based on our proximity, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. We opted for two sea breams, unfortunately without even taking a photo: I was too busy enjoying them! They also recommended drinks, taking into account the scorching heat of these days, and the pairing was perfect. The owner is Italian like us, so after dinner we also chatted about various topics, making the atmosphere even more pleasant and familiar. A truly enjoyable evening, the perfect way to end our last dinner here in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

Great place serving American south food sometimes fused with Indian.

The food was great, the service was a little slow but the waiter apologised for the wait and the staff were very nice. The reason for the 4 stars is because I expected more food for the price. The biscuit with fried chicken was 17 euro and the breakfast plate was 21 euro. Not the best value but good place to go if you want to try American style food

Amazing steak and rosemary potatoes

The picture online looked amazing, so we decided to take a seat outside. The waitress never really came so we ordered inside. We tried to order several different dishes, but they didn’t have them. When the food (they did have) arrived it was cold. We had really high expectations but left quite disappointed.

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Even though we made a reservation in advance, we were seated at a very uncomfortable table extremely close to other guests. Another frustrating issue was the steak ordering system. The menu clearly shows the meat price based on 100 grams, with no other explanation at all. Then the waiter tells us that the minimum order is actually 350 grams. That makes no sense — if there is a minimum requirement, it should be clearly written on the menu. Also, the steak itself was nothing special and definitely not worth the price. It was very hard to chew. The waitress is not even asking about the cooking degree. The fried chicken sandwich we ordered was even worse. It had absolutely no flavor. We had to pour spicy sauce all over it just to make it edible. Honestly, you would get a much tastier chicken burger from the worst fast food place.

I keep going back to Stacks.It’s the kind of place you don’t need to think about.You just go.The vibe is easy, warm, and somehow always exactly what you needed.The food delivers every time and does its job without making a fuss about it.And those mezcal palomas are always gone too fast.

An average American restaurant. The staff were also very kind and friendly. The place is not so pricey but also not very cheap. The entrecôte was too hard to chew and not a high quality meat. The paprika chicken was ok. But the biscuits were really good. The sundae was also nothing to die for. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that is seeking for an American dinner restaurant, otherwise there are much better options available nearby. Bonus info: They politely ask you to leave the table and continue your dinner at the bar if you sit more than 2 hours.

What has happend to this place? Went back for brunch recently, and my entire party had a bad brunch. Mushroom fritata was an almost comically small plate, the big stack was bland and one of my friends received their chilaquiles 15min after the rest received their meal and had finished (staff was aware when serving out the rest, but couldnt make anything happen to get the chilaquiles out sooner. Staff was very friendly, atmosphere was also great, but the food itself was a little embarrassing. I hope it was an one off thing, but I wont be coming back unfortunately. Shame, as the first dinner I had here a year ago was fine!

Delicious comfort food, a laidback vibe, authentic friendly service and a legit soundtrack. All paying homage to their American heritage. All perfectly executed. I ordered a chicken biscuit, dry aged entrecote with chimichurri, a dessert that consisted of vanilla, pepper and some kind of cake that was baked in an oven. I think you tilt your chair a little too much. Waiter 1 directed me to a table. Waiter 2 took my order and recommended a beer. Chicken biscuit was good. Crispy chicken and delicious batter. Dry aged entrecote: delicious medium-rare meat that was soft and with the sour chimichurri gave it a good flavor. I would have ordered a Hot Fudge Sundae, but was told by waiter 2 that it was only served on the weekend. I think you could write that on the menu. Dessert: good. Soft cake with honey and vanilla was a good experience. Great music choice at the restaurant.

It feels like an extremely gentrified version of a diner. The chicken biscuit was not as tasty and flavorful as it could be — it’s actually very dry. The hashbrowns were not crispy on the inside and feels very hard in the mouth. Everything felt unseasoned. Coming from someone from New York, Stack's is not a true diner — feels very mid and extremely expensive. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

Everything was amazing, food, service and vibe! This place deserves 5 stars on Google, I don't get how they only have 4.5. I had the Stack's breakfast, even simple items like an egg or a pancake is taken to the next level in this kitchen. For me it was like a country-style American diner breakfast but levelled up. I recommend this place to anyone wanting top notch breakfast or brunch. also the homemade sweet tea is fantastic, would be nice if you served it with a little less ice though, kinda pricey. Also the portion of chili hash was kind of small for the price. The prices aren't low so it's worth having a decent portion. Highly recommend and I've already brought multiple here and plan to continue, it's one of my starred places and go-to spots in Amsterdam. Make a reservation ahead of time, not the day of!

Overpriced mediocre food. Prices are more in-line with fine dining. This is not fine dining. It is basically southern US comfort food. Chef needs to start caring about what he produces.

The food was delicious, we had the spicy fried chicken biscuit, buttermilk pancakes, cinnamon bun and a hash brow. The pancakes were a bit burnt but besides that, everything was great. The service was fantastic, super friendly staff and the owner is very kind. The vibe of the place is just spectacular, greeeeat music and beautiful interior.

I definitely recommend checking them out during the brunch, hands down the best brunch place in Amsterdam! l would recommend trying the pancakes, scramble or biscuits, all to die for! Dinner at stacks is also great! The diner has such an immaculate vibes and staff, truly making you feel at home!

This is a restaurant WELL DONE! Firstly interior/ambiance is PERFECT. You can hear your date, see the kitchen, dimly lit lights, music is proper, even when packed the restaurant is well kept and tidy. The food is AMAZING, the glazed biscuit, hashbrowns with caviar, fried chicken and that delicious steak!! We will be back thats for sure. I can take up all the text in this review boasting about it especially the brown butter bourbon cake, I wish I had more to take home🤭 Also whoever took the time to select the liquors given, props to you because its the first time I've tried real limoncello and I loved it. This is a great establishment, it made my night 10x better. We will be back!

We went for dinner. While the food looked small when it first arrived it did fill you. We ordered the chicken/fish biscuit and a side each (hashbrown/spinach). It was all very good (and the chilly glaze is not spicy for those concerned). I do however think it was a bit pricey. The service was a bit slow and the staff were not too attentive. Further at night it was very loud, which took away from the otherwise nice ambiance.

Highly reccomended! Menu might not look very rich but the taste is amazing! Be sure to book a table beforehand

WARNING: Highly Unsanitary Bar Practices My husband and I sat at the bar and watch the bartender taste every cocktail with the bar spoon- the proceeded to stir the drinks with the same bar spoon without cleaning, sanitizing, or changing the spoon. Every cocktail that was served was made with this contaminated spoon. The bare spoon was placed into a glass of tap water, with the beer foam scraper. If you order a cocktail or tap beer, you will most likely receive a contaminated drink, with some saliva from the bartender. Gross. Talked to the host, who said he would talk to the manager, but throughout our meal, nothing was done and the bartender proceeded to taste and mix drinks with the same spoon. We will not be returning to Stacks.

Unfortunately, I got food poisoning here. I contacted the restaurant, but they said it wasn't something else. Well, I'm sure it was. It's a very strange reaction for someone to say they got sick from your food. After I contacted them, they didn't contact me again. It's a shame because the service in the restaurant was quite nice. I wouldn't risk getting sick and I don't recommend eating there. Update Jan. 26: They contacted me and refunded the entire meal. Great. Thanks!

Dinner on Dec 29, reserved a spot for two via restaurant website. Katie (I hope I got the name right) was kind enough to push our reservation by 45 mins when I called the restaurant since we were running late. Thank you for doing that! When we reached the restaurant, we were told that most of the items that had chicken and fish were unavailable, even fries were out of stock. I would have liked this information when I called to push our reservation because I would have been okay canceling my reservation even if it meant losing 20 euros. The food we ordered was hash browns, spinach, paprika chicken and a biscuit due to the limited options available. Except the paprika chicken everything else could have been skipped. The hash browns were so bad that when we told the restaurant about it they removed it from our final bill. The biggest red flag for me was the Dry Aged Steak w/ Chimichurri; on the menu its priced at 16 euros/100grams but when we wanted to order 200 grams we were told that the minimum quantity for an order is 450 grams. This is not stated on the menu and given the food options were limited, they could have accommodated our request. Strongly suggest that they update their menu and add the minimum quantity requirement or price the dish at 72 euros/450grams so that its not misleading. We skipped dessert since the food was underwhelming and the overall experience was meh. The service professionals were all super kind, understanding and went above and beyond to help us so kuddos to them. Would I recommend stacks to anyone visiting Amsterdam? NOPE

It was our last night in Amsterdam before flying back to Singapore the next morning. We walked in to a full house Stacks Diner. And thankfully, we were served by Imro who went the extra mile to squeeze out a table for us. And not only that, he made awesome food recommendations too! Thanks Imro for getting us that table. It was one of our bestest dinners in Amsterdam!

We absolutely love the atmosphere the dim lighting creates such a warm and cozy vibe. The food was excellent, especially the chicken biscuits. The rest of the meat dishes and the salad were delicious as well. The service was amazing; the staff are incredibly friendly, always smiling, and genuinely check in to see how you’re doing. You really feel welcomed here. Highly recommended!

I would describe Stacks Diner in one word: "don't." We added it to our list based on recommendations while planning our Amsterdam trip. I wish we hadn't. We ordered almost the entire menu. I won't go back to Stacks Diner to eat any of it again. The brown butter mash was the height of disappointment. The dry-aged steak wasn't even mediocre. When the biscuit didn't satisfy us, we ordered cornbread, which was average. The pickles weren't pickles at all, neither sour nor salty. We thought maybe the monkfish would be good. It wasn't. I'll skip the flavors; the restaurant's biggest problem is the service. Forty minutes after ordering, the wine arrived at the table. The waiter couldn't open the bottle. We opened it ourselves. By the time the starters arrived, 50 minutes had passed. The main courses were on our table 1.5 hours later. We asked for salt, and the salt shaker was empty. When the starters arrived, there were no forks, knives, or spoons on the table. We had to ask for them. It was a bad experience in every sense. It's worth saying, don't…

We visited stacks diner after seeing it on the Ayaküstü Lezzetler YouTube channel and came with high expectations but unfortunately it was a disappointment. We ordered the chili glazed fried chicken and the dry aged steak. The biscuit served with the fried chicken was overwhelmingly buttery—to the point of being almost nauseating. On the menu, the dry-aged steak was listed as €16 per 100g. We asked for 200g, but were told the minimum order was 450g. Every review on Google seems to mention a different minimum gram requirement, so this clearly needs to be standardized and written on the menu. If I can’t order 200g, why does the menu shows that I can order by 100g? The flavor of the dry aged steak itself was nice, but it had gristle and inedible parts. No one asked how we wanted it cooked, and it automatically came out medium. The place was also extremely noisy, and the ambiance was way too dark. Even my phones screenlight was brighter than the actual lighting in the restaurant. Overall, we ended up paying a high price for a very average meal. It was disappointing.

I was here on a dimly lit day, the pale sky entrenched Amsterdam in a melancholic light but walking into stacks diner the world turned warm, a longer amber lit hallway greeted my eyes with friendly staff smiling at me with there gazes. I got a chicken biscuit, or 2 with a beautiful chilli glaze and sat at the bar and admired a Latvians bartending skills. It is a beautiful experience and I would recommend you all to go

We had a reservation at 8 PM and arrived exactly on time, but no one acknowledged us for about 15 minutes. We eventually had to approach a waiter ourselves. After sitting down, we ordered meat, but no one asked how we wanted it cooked or explained how it’s normally prepared. Our drinks were practically thrown onto the table without even asking who ordered what. The food was tasty, but the service was so poor that I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Don’t waste your money on such a disappointing experience.

Overall the food was nice but the service was slow and poor. We had the Chilaquiles to start. These were wet and soggy and not especially nice. Also the beef was very sparse. The mains were very good in contrast. The steak was cooked perfectly and the wine was good. Throughout the service was very slow. A few people behind us waiting to be seated abandoned all together and it was clear that every table was getting slow service. Initially some drinks were missed from our order. Overall it was ok

This was my second time at Stacks. We were sitting at the counter. We were disgusted when we saw one of the servers, who had been moving around the whole restaurant, touch the cinnamon rolls and doughnuts with his hands. Servers are bussing tables, cleaning things off, so to see someone fully grab doughnuts and the rolls without tongs, it was quite gross. Only after we made facial expressions, did the other server go get utensils to place our cinnamon roll (untouched by the other) onto a plate to serve us. I have worked in restaurants and I have never seen anyone but the cooks use their bare hands to handle food. It’s quite gross. Please get tongs or gloves for your servers!

Gave my name at the entrance and the guy said nothing and walked off. He came back a few minutes later and showed us to a table. Had to ask multiple times for drinks, red wine was fridge cold and then could only order a minimum of 300 grams of steak. Mains came before we'd finished eating the starters and the 'chef' stood there wanting us to take the mains until I said we'd like them when we've finished the starters. Very overpriced for average food (48 euros for a very average steak) and terrible service.

Went for dinner. We had a reservation and received a nice table. Would recommend you book in advance, especially for dinner on the weekends. I wanna start by pointing out how amazing service is here. It’s a cut above the service you receive anywhere else in the Netherlands, which makes sense, given the American roots of the establishment. The staff are very kind, attentive and accommodating. The food was also excellent. For those that crave hash browns and can’t find good ones in the NL, Stacks’ hash browns with sour cream & caviar really hit the spot. Delicious pairing! We also got the fried pumpkin. I forgot what the dressing was, but they worked perfectly together. I think this one might have been a seasonal special — so don’t miss it if you see it on the menu! I got the fried chicken biscuit (how could you not when you see it on the menu), and it was excellent! The honey glaze was a nice touch. My partner got the fried fish biscuit, and they really enjoyed it too. Finally, the banana pie is unmissable! It’s so delicious. Make sure to get a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side for a perfect pairing. Overall, we had a great time at Stacks. The diner-inspired ambiance accompanied by good service and delicious food made our night. Will be back!

I went there as a recommendation from the internet. People are super nice and friendly like in all city. The food is a bit overrated I guess apart from the steak. We enjoyed the steak but not the salad and others.

I liked their chicken burgers, but the beef wasn’t good at all. The atmosphere is nice, but it’s not very successful in terms of price-performance.

We went to Stacks a month ago and I've been meaning to leave a review because the food was SO GOOD! We shared the turbot and steak between two, the turbot was the best I've ever had and a decent portion, the steak was also great but the turbot really did steal the show! We also enjoyed some dirty martinis and a lovely bottle of white recommended by our friendly waiter. We will definitely be going back, only small criticism is it was extremely loud, nothing they can do about that really but just be aware you might have to shout on busy nights.

So we had a reservation from 17:15 and reservation is valid up until 19:15. The service was friendly and welcoming. Service was well timed and efficient. The food was good but not great. More seasoning goes a long way for us personally. The best dish for me was the pumpkin starter with the spicy peanuts. The rest was decent. My wife had a glass of bubbles. She was introduced to it with an elaborate explanation of origin etc. Dinner continued and we chilled for a bit not sure if we are wanting to order desert or changed our minds for another round of drinks. We chilling and talking and up comes the waiter to tell us if we are not ordering anything else, he would like to turn the table “coz he actually needs it” and “he doesn’t usually do this”. Completely taken a back by it, I obliged. What a way to ruin what was a decent experience. Won’t be going back there. Honour your time slots. I don’t care if I am sitting drinking water until 19:15. Anyways…onto the next one.

Unfortunately, we came here with suggestion. But the atmosphere is not fresh. And we wanted to order steak 200 grams, they said it can served just min 400 grams. We choose chicken fried with biscuit and 400 grams are very huge for us. We couldn’t order it. The chicken is normal, not special. You can find it anywhere. Mashed potatoes is not better than other places. I am so sorry but we couldn’t came here again and don’t suggest anyone’s.

Stacks Diner is such a fun spot! The food was delicious — the biscuits were the absolute highlight, perfectly flaky and buttery. I also tried the fried chicken sandwich, which was juicy and well-seasoned, and the latkes on the side were just right. The menu has that comforting, homestyle feel but with enough variety to keep it interesting. The decor adds to the charm — cozy, retro-diner vibes with lots of character — and the service was warm and friendly without being over the top. We came here thanks to a Turkish influencer’s recommendation and loved it! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the place has a cozy, stylish vibe with dim lighting. We tried the grilled steak with chimichurri, the mashed potatoes, and the chicken biscuit. Everything was really good, but I would definitely recommend the mashed potatoes the subtle roasted butter flavor is perfectly balanced.

We went for dinner and had a really nice experience. The service was great, very attentive throughout the evening and they gave us recommendations. We ordered an Albariño, which was excellent, and really appreciated the interesting wine options on the menu. For food, we shared the steak, which was a very pleasant surprise, along with hash browns and the house salad. Portions aren’t huge, but the quality of the food is good. Just moved to Amsterdam and Stacks feels like an elevated taste of home! “We should come here all the time” said my 14 year old. 😆 Steak & eggs was extraordinary, a real standout! The Big Stack was delicious and gave us a sample of everything including a fluffy American pancake. And the fried chicken biscuit with the chili glaze was unique and yummy. Warm and friendly service. We will definitely be back!

Good food with a nice atmosphere. The concept is very American but the dish sizes are a bit small for American standards :) The staff was quite helpful and polite as well.

Very nice experience overall. I have 4 stars because the steak was low on salt. However we had an amazing mango pie - one of the best desserts I ve ever had, truly top notch !

If prices were better, that'd be a better restaurant. We paid 14 euros for a salad with lettuce and some parmesan. Steak you could order 400 grams and ot cost 64 euros but I highly doubt it was 400. After spending 100 euros we had to eat somewhere else couple of hours later.

A really great brunch spot, I highly recommend visiting. They make really nice rose style scrambled eggs, super fluffy pancakes and buttery biscuits. I love the interior that gives off the classic diner vibe.

Hey, look. The best cookie I had in a long time. Cinnamon buns were 3.5/5. The pancakes… now let me tell ya hwat. Masterclass on texture & portion size. Add in the butter + syrup (sprinkle salt cuz that’s how I do it) serious contention for the best pancake in the city. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu 🥞
