Cozy cafe/restaurant with a view of the mill, park, and canal. Fast and friendly service. We had a delicious lunch there (croquette sandwich and homemade egg salad). Highly recommended, keep up the good work!

The seasonal special with venison steak is highly recommended.

Once again, you've been sent away (Sun-Thurs) at least an hour before the stated closing time (midnight) because of 'closing'. Just adjust this in the opening hours on Google because it's not an isolated incident.

Enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace is a great location, but I would definitely advise against eating dinner here. There were mice everywhere in the restaurant; they're not shy at all, as they'll easily run between your legs... It's absolutely disgusting, so you're guaranteed to get pissed off here, and you don't have to drink 10 beers for it. And the staff doesn't do anything about it; they just watch. It's a shame, because it's otherwise a great place!

What a disappointment. I arrived at 11:55 and ordered drinks. We wanted to have breakfast and asked if they had yogurt. They confirmed, and the staff said they would bring the menu. After 7 minutes, the menu finally arrived with the message: "Sorry, I see it's after 12:00, and we don't serve breakfast anymore, only lunch." They absolutely refused to make an exception. How unfriendly can you be? A big minus.

Love this little and lovely beer place! They have their own local beers, some bites, and they are very friendly! We visit it often!

October 2nd, we had a lovely time on the terrace, and the service was quick. We had made a reservation inside. My husband and I ordered hutspot. We eat hutspot at Van der Werff every year, but it's never been this bad. The hutspot was made with mashed potatoes, and the meat was undercooked, tasteless, and tough. Such a shame! The waitress offered coffee to compensate for the poor meat, which was very kind, but it didn't make up for it.

A lovely location and cozy spot. The price-quality ratio could be better. The main courses really lack some vegetables or salad. For €23.50, you only get salmon and a piece of potato terrine. The staff is quick and friendly, but sometimes a bit chaotic or busy.

The service could have been better, our waitress was too busy. The snacks are good but when it is about the main course, it was more beautiful than tasty. It was definitely not the beast ribs we had.

Delicious food and friendly staff. We came with our one-year-old son, and the experience is much more enjoyable when the staff are friendly to your little one. They cheerfully waved and chatted with our son, he got a high chair, and we were able to enjoy a relaxed lunch with him. A truly wonderful, child-friendly place!

We hebben 2x op 1 dag Vd Werf bezocht. We hebben 2x heerlijk buiten gezeten. Eerst voor een hapje eten en later voor een borrel met een snackje. Kwaliteit van het eten was heel goed en tot 2x toe hadden we erg goed en klantgericht personeel.

Had coffee and tea after dinner elsewhere in the city. Nice terrace and service is reasonably quick.

We were looking for some GF bites, unfortunately they didn’t have that wide options in the snacks menu. We were offered some GF bread with butter (which was absolutely delicious); however the bread was not fully cooked in some parts. Nevertheless we still had a nice time and it was a good quick stop for drinks.

Popular spot. If you'd like to eat, reservations are recommended. You can easily make them online. In my opinion, the prices were a bit higher than you'd normally expect in a cafe. The food was excellent.

Out here for celebrating with friends. Service was fine but we had a new staff member that didn't know the difference between spicy gin ginger ale cocktail and dark and stormy cocktail. I can't really blame the new staff member. A friend wanted vegan cake but that had to come from the freezer. So be aware when wanting cake. Other than that, the atmosphere is great and the quality of cocktails are great. I had spicy gin ginger ale cocktail and it had a stamper so that you could crush the mint and hot pepper. My friend had a pornstar martini, but she got an empty glass with a spoon with it, instead of having prosecco on the side. It was unclear if it was added to the drink. The atmosphere inside is amazing but not wheelchair friendly. I know this place draws a crowd so be aware that it can be busy and double check if you order something

Service and lunch were fine. Soup at 12 o'clock was very watery, and looked more like a prepared broth than soup.

From the drinks to the food, the food was consistently impressive. Appetizers were easy to combine, attentive service, and good value for money. I'd happily return.

Van der Werff is my second office, but with better coffee, more coziness and staff that are so friendly that you spontaneously want to give a high five. Or both. 😄 They understand here that people with a laptop are not a nuisance, but modern coffee guzzlers with deadlines. The laptop policy is therefore perfectly arranged: relaxed, hospitable and without any sideways glances. Whether I come for an hour of typing or a whole afternoon of brainstorming, I always get a smile as a gift here. Working here feels more like a party — and that's exactly how I like it!

It's a nice place to sit outside, and the inside is also very spacious. The food was delicious; there were three of us, and we had no complaints.

My son was admitted to the hospital in Leiden and stayed there and ended up here. Even being able to relax between all the hustle and bustle with a good glass of wine and a tasty snack platter. Nice place and relaxed atmosphere.

Friendly service, even on a warm, busy spring day in April :) the drinks came quickly and you could also sit on the terrace and there was plenty of room. Nice place to have a drink, I haven't had a chance to eat here yet so unfortunately I can't say much about that ;)

My Melezane was very bad, vegetables undercooked. Seemed like it had been standing for a long time because I couldn't get through with a knife and fork 😔. First served cold, so the new one was not tasty. My husband's fish was also mediocre.

We were in Leiden for a day and had dinner here. The food was tasty, but the portions were not very large and the prices were on the high side for what was offered. According to the menu, my sludge would come with a herb salad. There was no salad, the waiter said it was the dressing on the fish. There were only fries, but no vegetables with this dish. It was very busy, a lot of noise. Despite the crowds, the service was friendly and prompt, but you would be better off eating somewhere else.

Nice place at the station to sit/have a drink. It does not have much of its own character. But with the right people you're in the right place.

We sat next to the bar. My friend helped me order a ginger tea and the tea came with orange slices. I have acid reflux and can’t deal with citrus. So I said to the waiter, sorry but I don’t want orange slices. The waiter was polite and took the tea back. He put the tea on the counter and the ‘bartender’ grabbed the orange slices with his fingers. The a few staff members had a good laugh around the tea and the waiter brought me back that tea. I was like, ‘wow, talking about service! ‘😨😨😨😨😨😨😨

I had lunch here. The farmer's salad was delicious. Not those big, coarse pieces in the lettuce, I like that😁. Nice location close to parking garage and station. Good place to meet if you come from different directions.

Service en sfeer van Van der Werff is goed. De sate is jammer genoeg ronduit slecht. Het vlees (weet niet wat voor vlees het was) was hard, niet goed opgewarmd of gebakken & smakeloos. De sate sauce een dikke koude massa. Het gerecht bestond verder uit een paar schijfjes komkommer. Het beperkt aantal frietjes werd geserveerd in een klein bakje. De frietjes waren slap, niet goed gebakken en wederom smakeloos. Heel erg jammer maar niet de moeite waard om hier terug te komen.

After a long wait we were not helped, but others were. In the end we left after 25 minutes with nothing. Given the polite response from the owner and his offer, I am correcting my review from 1 star to four stars. This is because I really appreciate the response!

Went in neatly and were assigned a table. Then waited 35 minutes, someone walked past several times but unfortunately no help (not even to get drinks). The table next to us was served food, but unfortunately no view of the table we were sitting at. Got up and left, unfortunately it all looked good.
