Every time we return to the Netherlands, a stop at 't Friethuys Groeneveld in Delft has become an essential ritual. Their French fries with their skins on are simply excellent: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, a true comfort food to enjoy while strolling through the cobbled streets of the city center. The place is run by young, courteous, and always smiling people who put passion and enthusiasm into what they do. The service is fast and the prices are fair, truly good value. If you're in Delft and want to fill a hole in your stomach with a little indulgence, this is the right stop. Highly recommended!

The best fries in Alkmaar are somewhat hidden away in a narrow side street behind the cheese market: freshly made from large potatoes, and served with a selection of delicious sauces. The various croquettes/bitterballen and the cheese soufflé are also highly recommended, as they are of high quality (juicy filling and crispy breading).

Wow, the fries were probably the best we've ever eaten. We've tried fries from various vendors in Alkmaar over the past few days, and these were the best. The fries are homemade, and you can watch them being made. They also have some great toppings. My tip: buy some fries and sit on the nearby canal with them. Perfect!

They had no problem speaking German with us. Ambience: There's a bench across the street in front of the building. Lucky are those who get a seat there.

The best fries in town. Fries taste fresh, have a good bite, are fried well (not too short or too long) and are served with the skin still on. The big portion is large enough for two. No possibility to eat in, so you can eat them directly (puntzak) or they pack it for take away.

You need to try these to appreciate them. Fresh, tasty and the best chips I’ve had. We just wanted a quick snack and were really impressed with these chips. So much so we went back again the next day to get some more to go with our roasted chicken. Good size portions too. Salted, skin on and a really tasty curry sauce. Perfect!

Here you can get some good fries to eat. The shop is in a small alley so you can't sit there. The fries are good, ours were fried a little too short and stuck to each other slightly, I've eaten them better. But still really good, that's why 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another great fry, this time in Alkmaar. When visiting Alkmaar I wondered by ‘t Friethuys which looked very promising. I had to try it of course, so I ordered a medium portion of fries with mayonnaise. The first things you’ll notice is the super friendly staff, the second thing you’ll notice is the fair price. I mean, 4 Euros for a medium portion of fries with sauce is less than most places charge. Finally, the fries. They are delicious, freshly fried to perfection with just the right amount of salt. Just lovely!

Fries were ok, but not nearly as good as the Vlaminck. Service was mediocre, the guys behind the counter were busier with each other than with the customers. Didn't listen to the orders very well, which meant that a number of people did not get what they ordered. When a customer made a comment about this, there was a comment instead of an apology. I can get fries anywhere, I'll pass this one up from now on.

Ordered 4 x fries medium size for take away but they give us for 3 persons and put all the fries together in 1 bag. If I wanted 1 bag fries, I would have ordered 1 bag and not 4 x medium size. Too bad The Vlaminck (100m further down the road) was closed due to holidays as I normally go there. This experienced proved me the Vlaminck is 100 times better, both in service and in quality.
