Quite literally just a window inside the sizable complex, outdoor seating quite popular during long summer days while the inside is filled by youthful residents sipping Beer or Wine, arrival just an hour after opening finds everyone in jovial spirits and staff quite pleasant. Originally gaining notoriety for the Kimchief, Parrott’s fondness for fermented Cabbage immediately evident on the menu, “Fry Me a River” takes on the popular “Smashburger” without over-flattening things and the result is a juicy mix of MRIJ Beef and Bone Marrow whose intrinsic flavor holds up well to condiments including Cheese, Pickles and Sauce. Sporting a fluffy but generous Bun, the attention to detail evident across Beef Chief’s menu, Fries or Wings prove popular and look well-made but should not take the place of “Crucial cauliflower” that sees the Crucifer lightly fried but perfectly tender in a sticky Korean lacquer with Sesame Seeds, a side of Kimchi and cheffed-up Mayo.

Super cute location just outside the center of Amsterdam. You can sit outside or inside, the place is very large and suitable for spending time chilling. The sandwiches are amazing! Soft bread, good meat, quality ingredients. We split a portion of potatoes and it was huge!! Their beers are also special. Recommended!

Servers didn't pay attention of the arrivals, after 20 minutes of sitting at a table, I decided to leave the place. Sad, because several people recommended the place.

Great place, slow service. (But once you finally managed to placed your order, food arrives quickly). They should consider upgrading the floor from concrete to… something else. Some plants or (fake) palm trees wouldn’t hurt.

One of the coolest hidden gems Amsterdam has to offer. Mouth watering burgers, loaded fries, so many beers, good service and fun decorations. Only note is that they miss desserts!! Would love a chocolate fondant or a banana split after the burgers. Absolutely to try!

The owner/host Paul was incredibly gracious and allowed us to order just before closing. The beef double smash burger and the chicken burger were delicious and some of the best we’ve ever had.

From the outside I wouldn't have given much confidence to be honest, but once I entered I understood why they had recommended this place to me. Since its participation in the Drip Festival in 2023 and the associated promotion by Bockie De Repper, the Beef Chief has become a well-known name in Belgium. When I visited Amsterdam I definitely had to pay a visit. From the busy Central Station I took the free ferry towards Noord, and after a short walk I reached the remote, calm industrial zone where the Oedipus brewery appears out of nowhere. It was a sunny day and the courtyard was full of people enjoying a beer. I ordered my "Fry me a river" burger and a portion of fries, and waited on the terrace with a deliciously fresh and spicy Gaia IPA on tap, served in the very colorful glass for which Oedipus is known. The burger was certainly worth the hype on social media: 2 thin "smashed" patties that were pressed onto the onions, making the latter deliciously caramelized in the fat of the meat. The lightly toasted bun had a slightly sweet taste and was nice and airy. The American cheese was perfectly melted and was the glue that held the burger together. Everything was balanced with the right amount of sauce: not too much so that everything drips out, but enough so that you can lick your fingers afterwards! What really disappointed me was the portion of "Wrong platform fries". This was way too big, and clearly intended as a dish to share. However, I was only there, so I had to leave half of it behind. For me, half a portion for a lower price would have been better. Because the portion was so large and covered with a thick layer of cold kimchi and cold sauces, the fries also cooled down immediately and were already cold when I took my first bite. Shame!

One of my favorite burger joints in Amsterdam. Fry me a river is a classic, Kimchief is a great alternative but there's always good seasonal options for a change.

Nice place, nice beers and nice wine list. But unfortunately for us; Booked in advance at 7 p.m., could only order drinks... because the kitchen was a bit behind, we were told to wait fifteen minutes before ordering, but unfortunately after waiting 75 minutes and still a closed kitchen and quite hungry, we left. Staff could not provide a forecast when the kitchen would be open again. Quite a disappointment, poor organization.

If you are in Amsterdam and consider yourself a true burger lover, The Beef Chief is a must stop. I tried the Jam, and honestly, it is one of the best I have ever eaten. The meat is perfectly cooked and has incredible flavor. The bread is spongy but holds up well, and the ingredients are super fresh. The service is also 10, the staff is friendly and fast, without rushing but without making you wait too long. And the best thing is that the prices are very good. In short, if you are looking for an epic burger in Amsterdam, The Beef Chief does not disappoint. I will repeat for sure!

It was a little confusing at first because the servers are only for Beef Chief and not the brewery. The food came out fast and perfectly prepared.

The spot for next-level citizens in Amsterdam North. Located in the brewery, they combine juicy, creative burgers with Oedipus' unique beers. The relaxed atmosphere and top quality ingredients make this a must-visit for burger and beer lovers!

If you like a vintage type of atmosphere, like in Berlin and chill alternative music and probably the best burger in Amsterdam, then this is the place.

Had a wonderful Saturday evening at Oedipus. The Beef Chief makes phenomenal burgers, I will definitely be back for the Kimchief. My partner opted for a vegan burger, but that was not recommended. The kimchi fries were on the salty side but very tasty, and the fried cauliflower was the best I've ever had. Nice informal atmosphere, you get your beer at the bar (always a nice selection at Oedipus). Service was also excellent - top tent. Very cold in the winter evenings because it is an old warehouse/garage, so wear a thick sweater.

A really good and tasty burger. Located in a building with a bar where they sell specially brewed beers, which also attracts a slightly different crowd. If they had told me that there was a D66/Volt members meeting, I would have believed it immediately. Nevertheless, I will definitely come back to enjoy such a delicious burger

A very curious place, somewhat away from everything touristy in Amsterdam, there is a museum nearby but it is not overcrowded. It has craft beers and some amazing smash burgers. The flavors were very good and all the ingredients were perfectly combined. To repeat without a doubt

Burgers n kimchi fries were surprisingly really good , not much negatives honestly . Ceasar salad could be a little bit bigger , the added bacon in the salad was almost non existent :'0. And you can pay only with card and there is no sign or info about it.

The burgers were very tasty. The atmosphere and decoration were also very good. However, the staff is not very interested in the guests who come. It is also a pity that normal drinks cannot be ordered. Everything was juice that had to be squeezed by hand or organic goat drinks... I just want to be able to order a Whiskey cola, Fanta or something like that. Very unfortunate because I left with a dried out mouth.

We were there quite early in the evening and it was still quite quiet. It is in a beautiful spot in Oedipus. The burgers were ready quickly, these are simply the tastiest burgers. If you like kimchi on your burger, then you should definitely visit them!

After tasting many different burgers, I can say without a doubt that this is my absolute number 1. The taste is fantastic and the meat is wonderfully juicy without feeling greasy. The crispy bite of the burger also really adds an extra dimension to the experience. This is exactly how a good burger should be! A small point of attention is the staff. Although friendly, I think they would benefit from some additional training to raise the service to the same top level as the citizens. All in all, highly recommended!

The food and the beers are awesome. It was one of the best burgers I've eaten. But the place is really loud (and that's part of the charm I guess), and we waited quite a long time between being sat and our order being taken, and another long time waiting for our order.

This place is a joke... I booked the table via their website, it was stated: "Dining with The Beef Chief". There were plenty of empty tables when we arrived, so the place was not full at all. We sat, chose meals from the menu and when I tried to order I was told: "Oh, the kitchen is too busy, we don't accept new orders..." That's the first time I had such a treatment, so keep in mind that you can be refused to be served even if you booked the table in advance. Also, there was too cold and loud inside.

So far, the most pure and delicious burger in the Netherlands. The smash burger is all you need for happiness. The atmosphere and customer service from the brewery just makes it even better. You'll have a magical time here. I can guarantee that. The fried cauliflower is a must. Such flavour, such wow. Such crunch. The kimchi burger is OK but the flavours aren't quite balanced and the magic of the meat is lost in acid. I guess it would match the vegetarian one better. Also great place to play ping pong.

Staff doesn't really try their best. It seems like they don't really feel like it. At the bar the staff is quietly having a conversation about their private lives while you wait. The menu consists of 2 veggie burgers and 2 meat burgers and fries. So not many options. But that also makes it easy to choose. The order is taken with a straight face. You must pay in advance and with each payment you will be asked whether you want to pay a percentage tip. Of course we didn't do that. We waited 50 minutes for the food. While waiting you can play table tennis or chill in the hammock. That makes a difference. The fries and burgers were very tasty! The burgers are tasty, fries not chunky at all as stated on the menu but nicely seasoned, delicious Kimchi and the white BBQ sauce with the fries... to drink!

Before they moved to the new location i would have given 6 stars, best burgers in town. Today I went with my babe and we were really disappointed, both burgers and fries are definitely not what they used to be and are below average. Very sad because we used to take all our friends there and it was always a big hit, but no more.

Used to love these burgers at the old location. For me they were the best burgers in the city. However today went to the new location to find out not only the location has changed, but also the menu and the quality of the burgers. The meat was not even close to having the distinctive flavour as before, and was actually quite tasteless. The bun tasted old and the fries were chunky. Even the sauces were not good, with the mayo being very liquid. It's a shame, I hope this is just a matter of adjusting to the new location and staff, and that it will go back to the quality it had before.

The vibes of this place were on point, so cool and colourful. There was an array of interesting local beers to choose from, and the burgers were OUTSTANDING. Would definitely recommend.

For me personally one of the nicest spots of Amsterdam Noord. The burgers 🍔 are the best of the best (literally). And in summer there's a nice beer garden outside where you could enjoy some craft beers of the Oedipus brewery.

Remains a top tent! First day of soft opening at the new Oedipus location. Nice people, good beer and delicious food. Burgers delicious as usual and especially the Crucial Cauliflower is recommended.

My girlfriend and I gave the Oedipus burger joint a try. Upon arrival we were shown a table; so far so good. When we took our order, we were greeted by a nonchalant waitress who told us about the menu with little enthusiasm. She said 'whatever' when asked if we should put our completed menu back in the container. We put it in, three guesses, 1 second later it was taken out again because we had to pay immediately with the waitress without receiving our order. We were not told that we could leave a possible tip and had to enter it into the ATM ourselves. I hold my card against it and a 20% tip is automatically added to my bill. Ridiculous. 10 minutes later we finally receive our drinks. Extremely lazy service because we are told that we have to get our own drinks at the bar afterwards. In addition, you don't hear a word of Dutch around you and the service consists of 99% internationals, nothing local about it. The fact that there is only an English menu available says it all. The burger was fine. After we ate these, we actually left as quickly as possible and left half of our fries behind. In any case, we will never return here and I would like to get my 9 euro overpaid tip back.

I went to Beef chief with a friend, who is a chef by trade, he read good reviews on the establishment. Sadly they only stock unknown brands of fizzy drinks, which are over the top on pricing and very mediocre, seriously, I much prefer Coca~Cola to the generic, tasteless brands at Beef Chief - please add some known brands to the fridge, the stuff you sell is tasteless and overpriced for what it is... Food was good, albeit a small portion for the price compared to the other Amsterdam burger restaurants I frequent. The bread rolls are too soft, nothing worse than picking my burger up and my thumb goes through the bread - a firmer "bun" would be better But the burger and cheesy chips were great, very tasty, well cooked and nicely presented Service was great, as expected this is a busy establishment, but we didn't need to wait too long to be seated, admittedly we didn't make a booking When it came to paying, this business is "card only" and had I have realised that, I would certainly have avoided the place, cashless is soulless, and the "staggered" gratuity (tip) amount on checkout ranges at 5%, 10%, 15% -, a totally stagnant process. I much prefer cash myself as I don't always carry my wallet with me, luckilly I did on this day So, I paid with my card, like we do at McDonalds and other production line food outlets, and I selected 10% gratuity - however if this business took cash, I would gladly have contributed more - as I often use the tipping process to shed both small (€5) notes and my €1/€2 coins. Flaws aside, the staff, service and food were good, but the lack of branded fizzy/soft drinks combined with the "card only" payment system will deter me from eating there in future and I wouldn't recommend Beef Chief to friends based on their "card only" payment policy

Besides the fact that this is one of the tastiest fast food experiences I have ever had, it certainly has the very best price-quality ratio. For €20, a taste sensation that will delight you. Also tasty beers and a nice location next to the brewing barrels!

We ordered beers and burgers and the food and drinks were good. As there are many people they will make you wait an hour and a half like us. Hence my review, apart from that, everything is fine.

We found this restaurant on an industrial estate in Amsterdam North to be a strange but fun experience! We came especially for the burger (after several good reviews). And to be honest, it tasted excellent.

A small hole in the wall burger place hidden in oedipus brewery. It is an excellent burger which you can enjoy whilst drinking a nice refreshening crisp pint of beer. Their fries were crispy as well and I surely will be back to try out their other burgers.

What a special place and one of the tastiest burgers ever

Out of food with a reservation. Visited Oedipus end of November. I had reserved a table for 5 people at 5PM. We arrive at 5.15PM along with a friends baby. We try to order food an hour after some beers. We get a "we don't have any buzzers" excuse, we wait for 30 mins more and then we get a "we're out of food", after waiting for and hour and 45 mins and getting fairly impatient, the lady at the counter says I'll check with the kitchen and now magically there IS food (without taking our order..) BUT now we along with a baby have to wait for an hour and a half MORE!. We left of course. Several customers after us got their meals so this was just surprising to me. I've been to Oedipus 3 times before and loved every single visit, this was just horrendous service.

Dare I say it… this is the closest thing to an In-n-Out burger I’ve eaten. SUPER GOOD. I had the Fry Me A River burger and Cesar Salad. It’s not exactly the same as In-n-Out, but if they put thousand island dressing on it, made the patty a little more round, and added fresh tomatoes, it would be nearly identical to an Animal style cheeseburger. Also the Cesar Salad was DELICIOUS. I ordered delivery, so I can’t speak for the beer, service, or atmosphere. But if you’re looking for a great burger, this is the place!!

Wir waren spontan zum Abendessen dort. Haben es erst nicht gefunden, da es von außen nicht mit „The Beef Chief“ gekennzeichnet ist (es befindet sich in der Oedipus Brauerei) Bestellt wird vorne an der Theke (sowohl Essen als auch Getränke) Wir waren zu zweit und haben einmal die Kamikaze Pommes und zwei Burger (jeweils mit chrispy chicken) und es war sooo gut. Die Pommes waren schön kross und die Kombi mit Kimchi hat sogar meinem Mann erstaunlich gut geschmeckt. Die Musik in dem Laden ist vielleicht ein bisschen laut uns das Ambiente sehr sporadisch (Bierzeltgarnieturen) aber ich fands ganz cool. Eher was für die jüngere Generation.

We came in on saturday afternoon, soaking wet from the heavy rain and the place was not crowded but have a nice gezellig vibe. We ordered the kimchi burger and the other fries with homemade chilli on top which were immaculate. Meat is perfectly cooked & smoky, the kimchi adds the perfect kick to it. Our favorite is actually the double cooked fries which was delicious. Everything all together is 10/10 + the lady at service is very nice & helpful.

The bar is an industrial warehouse style place with folding tables and bench seats dotted around. The music inside is loud to the point that you really can not conduct a conversation without shouting. Think nightclub loud. Outside is quieter, and there is plenty of seating but only worthwhile during the warmer months. In October, it's already too windy and cool to be comfortable for long. Service on Friday at 6.30pm was fast and friendly. Bar staff set expectations by informing us that food could take 30-40 minutes. In fact, our wait was less than 15 minutes. Now, the burgers are tasty but badly constructed. Yes, a good burger is often sloppy and messy to eat, but theirs is way too messy! The burger bun and the wrapping paper had completely disintegrated by the time we got it to the table! It was impossible to pick up without the patty and fillings sliding out! The bun is so soft and soggy that your fingers just rip through it just by holding it. They should take a leaf from Five Guys and wrap it in foil as this will allow for holding the burger while eating it. They should also look at finding a bun with a little more integrity or reducing the amount of sauce as the bun was like tasty soggy cardboard falling apart. Second issue is that the patty, sauce and cheese are very tasty, but it need some lettuce or something to provide some textural contrast. My daughter said the burger was tasty but her taste buds got bored as it was like eating a liquefied homogenous burger where every bite tasted the same with no contrast in taste or texture. We ordered two magnificent and one kimchi burger, fries and chicken wings and 4 soft drinks total, including 10% tip was €76. The fries are crunchy but a little over salted. The chicken wings are actually very good but the blue cheese dip wasn't flavourful enough and tasted a little meh! They also need to change the sink in the men's toilet. It is so small that when people wash their hands, water just sprays all over the floor, making it look like the toilet floor is flooded.
