I ate here with my daughter today; it was delicious, fast service, friendly, tasty chicken wings, onion rings, cheese sticks, and sweet potato fries.

What a disappointment, rude service, we wanted to eat with three people, were told that a table for four wasn't allowed, a whole argument with a guest who wanted to spend money? Honestly, I think this person doesn't understand how hospitality works, walking around stressed while there is nothing to do here.

We wanted to go out for a business dinner. It is a real shame that we can only get one bill, so we can't claim it back. Apparently, we can't split the bill. We were told that this is stated per table, but with a little creativity, it seems to me that this could have been done perfectly fine. We had to pay out of pocket, so it is no longer a business dinner.

We went out for business dinner, but unfortunately, it was a very bad experience. We politely asked if the bill could be split, as we needed to be able to claim reimbursement separately. According to the wait staff, this proved to be too much trouble, and they didn't really try to find a solution. As a result, we were unable to properly claim the expenses afterwards.

A fine place to grab a quick bite before heading to a concert. The food is fine, the value for money is fine, and the staff did exactly what you would expect from staff. The word ‘fine’ has to do an impressive amount of work here, but it holds up admirably. Then came the moment to pay. The card machine asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I’ve always understood tipping to be a voluntary process. That actually seemed to me like a pretty essential part of the whole concept. You receive excellent service, think: 'Gosh, that guy really didn't have to do that. I appreciate that,' and then decide entirely of your own accord to give something extra. As soon as it is actively requested, the nature of the transaction changes quite a bit. It’s a bit like giving someone a birthday present, after which the recipient gratefully accepts it, takes a quick look at the gift, and then asks where the second and third gifts actually went. Of course, you are still free to say that they aren't there, but the festive atmosphere has suffered some damage by then. Naturally, I was also given the option not to give a tip. After all, we still live in a free country. That option was neatly displayed on the screen, albeit considerably smaller than the inviting options of 5%, 10%, and higher. Apparently, all free choices are equal, but some free choices deserve a larger font than others. And that is where an annoyance begins again, because once you see that, you have to start thinking about which manipulative trick you actually find more irritating: being actively asked for a voluntary, unsubstantiated contribution, having the desired answers displayed more emphatically than the unwanted answer, or subsequently being presented as if you arrived at this decision entirely spontaneously. The employee turned away politely while paying, probably to avoid exerting social pressure, or at least to ensure that the social pressure could take place formally without human guidance. I appreciate that, by the way, and my criticism is therefore absolutely not directed at him. I am convinced that the road to hell is paved with businesses that actively ask for tips. This infuriating begging has by now been elevated to an art form in America, and the sooner we send this nonsense back to the land of nonsense with fire and sword, the better. A tip is a voluntary token of appreciation. The customer takes the initiative for this. Not the restaurant, not the employee, and certainly not a card reader that displays the ‘no tip’ button as if it would actually have preferred you not to find it. That system is simple, customer-friendly, and functions excellently by Dutch standards. Keep it that way.

The food was delicious and very filling. The service was very friendly, speaking English and Dutch. There was no unnecessary noise. There was a large selection of burgers and drinks.

Burger Federation, honest food for a fair price.

I ordered two burgers, and the fries were both cold. The white fries were very oily. Avoid them. Fiveguys is cheap and delicious. Go to Fiveguys!

A mediocre burger joint with high prices compared to the size of the burgers. Mass production in a very chaotic environment. One of the two burgers was almost raw and had to be returned. For a quick bite, yes. For anything else, no.

Quality of the burgers not very tasty / especially for these prices

No idea if they have good burgers… after waiting for well over half an hour, we inquired with the staff hanging at the bar if anything was coming (hamburger with fries), and it turns out it could easily take an hour. It wasn't particularly busy. We considered our concert at Tivoli more important after all, so we paid for our drinks and left. In the evening, we stopped by McDonald's. It takes five minutes there.

A downright scandalous experience at The Burger Federation in Hoog Catharijne, Utrecht. My colleague and I entered intending to eat, but first asked if we could use the restroom. What followed was unacceptable: two female employees attacked us in an intimidating and aggressive manner — no restroom access without ordering first. No welcome, no friendliness, just pure rude behavior. We walked out immediately, and rightly so. To the staff at The Burger Federation: this is no way to treat people. Welcoming guests starts with respect, and that was completely lacking here. Friendliness costs nothing — but such behavior costs you customers, reputation, and reviews like this one. Deeply disappointing. Never again.

Absolutely worst service, were still waiting for 46 minutes and counting. The burgers didn’t arrive, also the burgers don’t look and taste good at all

Takeout was not listed as take-out and was then not allowed to go to my friend who was sitting inside, and the staff is unfriendly. Expensive for what you get. Update: came here again later, forgot that this was the same place where I had this experience before. This time it was worse than the last time. Waited 30 minutes before I could order, then waited 20 minutes for the food. This is way too long for take-away. After this, I finally got my sandwiches, but when I took a bite, the entire inside was still frozen. After this, I walked back and got a new one. Frozen again. After this, I went back again and had to wait another 20 minutes, but eventually I did get a new one.

I think it's a really nice bar, very sweet people. I really enjoyed my burger. It's also reasonably cheap🤞💗🥹

Here is a triple review, wow. The chicken burger: Super tasty and absolutely fantastic with the sweet potato fries; the sauce you can grab is also really great. All in all, enjoyed it. The Italian truffle burger with chicken tenders: To my great disappointment, the tenders sat under the heat lamp for at least 10/15 minutes before being served. The burger was on the lukewarm side but otherwise fine; the service, on the other hand, was fine. We went there several times this week. Very friendly service, delicious burgers and fries. Special requests were easily accommodated. I honestly don't understand the many negative reviews.

We went there three times and had a consistent experience: nice staff, tasty burgers and super tasty chicken tenders. Fast service with drinks, about 10-15 minutes wait for the burgers. Recommendation to burger-lovers. Limited vegetarian and vegan options though, fortunately there are plenty of alternatives just around the corner - take away and eat in the cosy places outside or at the canals nearby.

If I could rate this zero stars, I would. My visit to Burger Federation in Utrecht was incredibly unpleasant due to overpriced food, poor service, a lack of flexibility, and staff that was incredibly rude. It was a total waste of money and time. The food is absolutely not worth the money; the bread felt like a cheap supermarket roll (like 'witte bolletjes') rather than a proper burger bun, and the overall flavor was underwhelming. The service was even worse. When we asked to add raw onions to the burger, we were told it wasn't possible, despite adding fried onions being an option on the menu. After finishing our meal, we were ignored for 25 minutes. No one cleared our plates or asked if we wanted anything else, so we eventually walked to the counter ourselves. At the register, the staff was incredibly rude. Apparently, it’s 'card only' and 'no split bills,' but they don't bother telling you that until you’re at the register. There was no mention of this upon entry, only a tiny, easy-to-miss sticker near the entry saying card only. They also refused to let us split the bill. When I suggested a simple solution for the payment; just typing in half the price on the card reader for each of us while processing it as a single total in their register, the employee was visibly irritated and rude. Again, neither the 'no cash' policy nor the inability to split the bill was communicated beforehand. In short: between the poor food and the terrible attitude of the staff, it was a total waste of money. There are much better places in Utrecht- skip this one!!

I visited here for the first time today and left speechless. The service is top-notch, and the food was delicious! Every member of staff was super sociable and friendly. You can see that they work with passion and love what they do. For me, it is a place I won't forget and will return to often!

The burger is delicious, the fries are tasty too, but there wasn't enough of them. We just walked in, but that wasn't allowed and we were sent back to the entrance. There was no signage regarding this. As a restaurant, you're already starting with a 1-0 disadvantage at that point. It was quiet in terms of customers, but still noisy due to background noise. I would like to order a burger again sometime, but this time for home delivery 😉

Very bad experience. I ordered something here and was then told that I wasn't allowed to sit inside to eat it. That makes no sense. Customer service is nowhere to be found. I absolutely do not recommend either this restaurant or the chip shop next door.

What a disappointment. The staff are rude and completely unhelpful. You are simply treated poorly as a customer here. Furthermore, it is ridiculous that you order late and only then mention that you are not allowed to eat inside. The chip shop next door is nothing special either. A waste of money and time.

We went there twice in total. We sat down to eat, 3 adults. She brought us the menu in Dutch and we asked for it in English. It took more than 10 minutes for her to bring it to us. I asked the waitress about a Dutch beer (Affligem Bold) if it was a bit bitter. She immediately replied in a tone that because she is 17 years old, she doesn't know. Her behavior is very rude to someone who is the age of her parents. She could have asked someone who works at the store and answered me. That is, if I asked her something about the meat in the hamburgers, what would she say to me that she is vegetarian? She was supposed to serve the customers. The hamburgers we ordered, while we asked for them to be well done, were half-cooked with blood. They are unacceptable.

Centrally located in a mall next to the Utrecht train station. Tables also have electric outlets / USB ports for charging your devices, which is very convenient. Food and drinks / milkshakes were excellent. Most importantly, burgers were good (both bun and the meat). Service was good.

The food here is always delicious, even with the choice of how well-done your burger is. I come here almost every time I'm in Utrecht, and it never disappoints.

Finally a proper burger that doesn't mess around! I had the Burger Utrecht and honestly, it was incredible. What I appreciate the most is how they work with the meat. Angus often happens that it is poorly processed and tastes more like sausage, but here you can feel the clean and honest taste of beef. A huge plus that they ask if you want Medium or Well-done. I had Medium and the meat was perfectly pink and brutally juicy. No dry sole, but a real professional robot. If you are looking for a burger where meat is king, this is it. I definitely recommend

We went with my wife and kids to grab a tasty burger after a busy day of shopping and visiting a museum. It looks quite nice from the outside, too. The food was decent, but very greasy. The waiter was also very grumpy and rushed. It's clear they have to rush the customers through here as quickly as possible. Even McDonald's is much more pleasant to sit at then.

I was treated ridiculously by a male employee. I unsuspectingly sat down at a table with my daughter and mother. I didn't know you had to check in beforehand (it wasn't indicated ANYWHERE). When I asked if we could order something after being ignored for minutes, I was given a very unpleasant explanation of the rules by this man. I was completely unaware of any wrongdoing. Very unfriendly and inappropriate behavior. We got up and left. Dear employee of the Burger Federation: you could have handled this differently. Kindness costs nothing in this world.

We had a delicious meal, and despite the crowds, we managed to snag a table. The host was very friendly, and the kids are huge fans! Highly recommended after a day of shopping, we'll definitely be back!

We came here to grab something to eat, though I’m not even sure what kind of place this is supposed to be. We had to wait around 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order — in the end, I had to go ask myself when someone would come. After finally placing the order, it took another 10–15 minutes to get the food, even though the place was almost empty. They brought out one sad-looking burger and a few fries. I’m not sure what that sauce was, but it tasted awful. The burger bun fell apart the moment I touched it. Honestly, I wouldn’t come back here again and definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. 🤮🤮🤮

We had lunch here with a large group. It was delicious, and the service was absolutely fantastic! I would definitely go back.

I ordered fries with truffle mayo. This is what I got. 5 fries with disgusting, strange, greasy cheese and 2 slices. And where's the sauce? See for yourself... I said something about it, and then the lady made me pick through the fries and grabbed the cheese. And she said, "This is the truffle..." Ugh, expensive for what you get.

Last week, my kids and I dined here after shopping, and the burgers, fries, sauces, and drinks were made with love—you could taste it! My compliments to the entire team. You receive a warm welcome, and the staff is hygienic and professional. The atmosphere is also very cozy and warm. The service is superb! Many restaurants should learn from this example. I definitely recommend having a delicious meal here. I'll be back soon!

The staff is anything but friendly. The three of us came to eat, but we were already curtly told off for having to wait a minute before being seated. So we waited, and then a male colleague came over, and we told him we were waiting. The man was very unprofessional and rude. "Yes, we sell hamburgers here, but we're not a sports bar where you can just sit down," so after this angry exchange, we just left. It's such a shame it has to be this way!

We came with our family, with a small baby and a three-year-old. The waitress said there were no tables available, so we had to wait outside until one became available. The table we were given was a high bar table, which is totally unsuitable for a family with young children. Furthermore, the burger was very small, especially compared to Burger King, and also not in proportion to the price. Unfortunately, this didn't make our visit to this restaurant enjoyable at all.

The service was unpleasant; the employees were incompetent and had no respect for others. The food was low quality, and I found hairs in my food.

We wanted to eat here, the head waiter showed us to a table, but the other server told us we should check in at the counter first. However, there was no one at the counter and only 3-4 tables were occupied! Unfortunately, they didn't take our money! Terrible service! We wanted to have a nice meal here and were shown to a table. We were given a high table, but since we'd prefer a low table, we requested one. There were still plenty of tables available, but the waitress told us we should be grateful we even got a table. What an antisocial behavior!

With 15 residents from a nearby nursing home (and lots of helpers) ♿️, we enjoyed coffee and apple pie here after a boat trip. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful; they even made room for our large group. Thank you so much! We'd love to come back. We even heard the residents bragging about the apple pie that evening!

They have some amazing burgers here!! Absolutely AMAZING! We both had the Utrecht Hamburger. It tastes just as good as it looks. You can even choose how well done you want it. The staff is also very friendly. Super nice people. If you want a good (and affordable) meal at Hoog Catharijne, this is definitely recommended. We'll be back!

After we order they let us waiting almost one hour, and they don’t say nothing, after that much time I ask the personal what happen with the order, he go to check, he laugh in our face and says that he don’t know what happen or he forgot to put it, but in the much time nobody ask us nothing, they just let us waiting! My mother and I ordered drinks here. We waited about 20 minutes. I wanted cash, but they were out. It was a real shame. The card machine was malfunctioning, so we had to pay cash. I wouldn't recommend going here.

Good food, nothing special, just good

I've never experienced anything like this before. First, we're greeted by a very nice lady who barks at us to wait at the front until we're helped, only to be given a table in a relatively quiet restaurant. After sitting for 15 minutes, we're finally allowed to order. Then it takes another 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We're not very demanding, but we don't feel particularly welcome anymore. After all the tables after us have received their orders, 40 minutes later, I go to ask what's going on. The lady tells us it will take another 3 minutes, only to receive a completely wrong order. At this point, we weren't willing to wait for a solution and left. It's truly awful. Improve your hospitality and customer service. We're skipping this one; it's not worth the effort. Such a shame.

Furthermore, there's no good communication regarding seating, and the staff is unfriendly. Not really recommended in Utrecht, unfortunately.

The most terrible Cesar salad ever. And when l complained to the waiter he said "Sorry to hear that". Never again!!!

This is our third time eating at this restaurant, and I can't understand why. The service was terrible from the start. We didn't get our drinks until after we got our food, and only after we had to ask for them. The glasses were obviously dirty. Furthermore, the burger bun was soaked with sauce, making it soggy. After finishing our food, we waited three-quarters of an hour for the waitress to come and take our dirty plates away. I had to go up to the table myself to ask them to clear our table. That's absolutely unacceptable. We also ordered hot chocolate, but "hot" isn't the best way to describe it. We waited longer for the lukewarm chocolate than for our food. We won't be seeing you again.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a good experience. I ordered a medium burger, but it arrived rare. The onion rings had clearly been pre-fried somewhere and were stuck onto the burger while it was still cold. The bacon and cheese were also clearly pre-prepared because they were ALSO placed cold on the burger. Still-fresh syrup and cola. Dirty table and floor. You do get new food if you complain, but the quality remains unchanged.

Poor service and food:we had a late afternoon meal here and it was not super busy. Plenty of empty tables. We had a table right by the drink service station and where the kitchen sends out food for waiters to deliver to tables. We witnessed plates of food orders sitting under the heat lamps for at least 10 minutes (including our order) completely ignored by several waiters walking right by. When the food finally got delivered to our table, the bottom bun of the burgers were soaked in oil In completely soggy. I wasn’t even able to pick up the hamburger so I had to eat it with knife and fork and leave the oil soaked bottom bun. The hamburger patty was cooked to medium pink, even though we specifically asked for medium well. As such, the meat is flavorless and very tough. Hamburger is not an easy food to messed up when it is freshly prepared. Unfortunately, this is the worst hamburger we have ever had in a restaurant setting. The draft beers we ordered also tasted watered down and off temperature. We ate here because it is in the mall right around the corner from our hotel. We should have search a bit further out for better options.

The food was nice and hot, and we opted for a chicken burger, which was excellent. However, I wasn't impressed with the service. To be honest, the staff didn't look very presentable, and one employee didn't smell fresh. Every time he walked by, a sour smell of sweat wafted in my direction. This eventually permeated the entire restaurant. I don't understand why colleagues don't address him about it, as it affects the overall experience. When we were done, I was glad he wasn't coming, otherwise I would have thrown up. Personally, I wouldn't eat here again.

The Burger Federation offers a selection of nice burgers, mostly beef burgers and a couple of chicken burgers. Its location in the Hoog Catharijne, and near Utrecht Centraal is really handy for a quick tasty burger meal, perhaps before a concert in nearby TivoliVredenburg. The Hoge Utrecht Burger is filled with tasty grilled Angus beef, bacon and other goodies in a brioche bun. And you can have a side salad as a healthy alternative to fries to go with it.

The food was absolutely disgusting, and my burger had a chemical smell. From the first bite, I was like, "This burger stinks, it's absolutely disgusting!" Never again! A waste of money!

A very long wait (50 minutes for fries). Also, the loaded fries with chicken had no chicken in them; they tasted more like pork. The Parmesan fries had little pieces of Parmesan cheese sprinkled on them, but they barely tasted of anything.

I wanted to eat here today with three of us, so I sat at one table and asked a male server if I could pull up a chair. He agreed, but a female server didn't, saying we could only sit at the high tables. We preferred not to, as my parents were less comfortable there. Eventually, a table for four became available, where the male server said we could sit, but then the female server came and told another family who had just arrived to sit there. It was clear to us then that they didn't necessarily want to serve us, and we left for the gyro bar across the street, which, by the way, provided excellent service!

The first time I went here, it was two-thirds sold out. Today I arrived at 11:15, and the sign said it would be open from 10:00. Unfortunately, I had to leave because the man in the kitchen said they weren't open.

Food and surroundings were fine, staff could be a bit friendlier...

Add goat cheese and pickles everywhere! Everything becomes much tastier with them))) You won't regret it
