Smashburger was many things, but not good. You're better off eating something else in the food halls...

Ate one of the best burgers of my life. I went from Groningen to Amsterdam for a weekend and was in the mood for a burger! It is a bit chaotic due to the crowds in the halls.

The burger and fries were delicious!

Nice food, did expect the basic burger to come with chips because of the price.

I saw beforehand that The Butcher Burger only scores a 3.3 on Google, but I thought: let me give them a fair chance anyway. Unfortunately, that rating turned out to be justified in my case. For €13.95, I got a burger with just a single patty. The lettuce was fresh, but otherwise I found the burger quite simple and lacking in flavor and quality. For this price, you really expect more. My final score is a meager 5/10. Too bad, because I had hoped to be pleasantly surprised. I hope they will pay more attention to quality in the future. Growth and opening more branches is great, of course, but ultimately, quality determines whether customers return. If that quality declines, further expansion actually works against them. I hope they make progress in this area.

Simply the best burger in Amsterdam! Juicy, flavorful, and made with high-quality ingredients. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and definitely a place I’ll come back to. Highly recommended!

Ohmygod this was amazing. I tried the Silence of the vega burger because I wanted something different for a change and it was amazing!! The taste just off the grill takes me back to summer bbq's with friends. I loved the sweet potato fries alot too!! I was there on a Friday evening and the serving time took quite alot and there were not alot of staff (3 people) for a Friday evening that is quite difficult because you have to stand in line before you can order. Also the menu could have been put at a different place so people waiting in line can also see it. Overall 10/10!!!!

The Butcher burger was incredible!

Mediocre burger. I had a smash burger for €10.50. It was okay, but nothing special. There's not much to say about the service, since you order via QR codes on the tables and then pick it up at the stand. A 30-cent service charge for that isn't much. The atmosphere is alright; it's just a big hall where everyone eats.

Both the angus burger and the double smashed burger were excellent. My wife's smash burger was one of the best she's ever had, and mine was also excellent because it had a smoky flavor. I also don't know why it's not rated higher, because the current rating is not a good representation of these burgers.

This is easily the worst branch of the butcher in Amsterdam. They served me inedible slop and when I complained they became abusive and aggressive . Their other branches are so much better

The Butcher used to be very decent fast food burger place. It’s been some time since I ate here, and the quality dropped massively.. the burger didn’t have taste, the meat was low quality, cold and the fries were dry. They have only 2 employees to serve so many people… poor them… they’re going their best tho. In the past they used to be 4-5 people. Whoever manages this place, is doing it wrong… shame..

The food court is very noisy and there's little seating, which doesn't make for a very pleasant experience. It's hard to enjoy your meal in peace. The burger is decent; the flame-grilled flavor is nice, but overall it's quite basic. For the price, we expected better. As for the service, the servers are rushed through, with little interaction or friendliness, which doesn't help improve the experience. It's okay in a pinch, but definitely not a place we'd return to.

Food was ok, nothing special. Service was absolutely terrible. Took 40 minutes to get a burger and fries. One of the guys working had clearly never worked there before and just stood there toasting buns while another cut tomatoes. Don’t waste your money or time.

Fries drained with fat, they call it "the Butcher fries", horrible signature fries. Burger is tasteless and saltless. On top of it all the staff wasn't friendly at all.

We often go here with our team (Tribe28) for lunch, or we take away. The burgers are great, we literally tried all of them!

We used to really enjoy the Butcher burger, which made this visit especially disappointing. The burger was burnt and tasted like it came off an unclean grill, with visible carbonised residue. The chips were soggy. Service lacked engagement, and overall the experience felt careless. Hopefully the owner takes quality control more seriously again and creates better working conditions so staff can be more engaged.

Probably the most disappointing burger I’ve ever had !

I live next to the Foodhallen and I get "the Ugly Me Friet" about twice a year on average. The quality is deteriorating every six months. Today the fries were cold.

A typical foodhall line and dining environment. A standard window style pick-up service. A pretty solid burger.

Uh oh, honestly the worst burger ever. I'd had a good burger at a different Butcher's before, so this was a huge disappointment. And for that price! The bun was cold and soggy, as if it had been sitting out for ages with sauce and soggy lettuce. The meat itself was okay, though very overcooked. It came wrapped in a paper, but it fell apart when I took a bite. I ended up throwing it away after a few bites. The fries were way too salty with a tiny tub of mayo. Not going back.

This place used to be good, but unfortunately the quality of the food and service is on a steady and steep decline. The prices they charge are completely unjustified by the taste or quality of the food being served, not to mention the service of course. The foodhallen itself is nice. In short, this is not a place I would recommend.

once a great burger place, now a sad experience. the staff handled money with the same gloves that they then prepared the burgers. the burger bun is clearly old since it crumbles. even the ketchup souce seems watered down.

I went to buy a burger on September 17, 2025, and was rudely served by a fair-skinned woman with long, black hair, apparently under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The company should check the health status of its employees.

I was really disappointed with my visit. The burgers looked promising, but the reality was very different. The patty was dry and overcooked, the bun fell apart immediately, and the toppings tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. On top of that, the fries were soggy and greasy. The service didn’t make things better either slow, inattentive, and it felt like we were bothering the staff just by being there. For the price they charge, I expected way better quality and a more welcoming experience. Definitely not worth the money. I won’t be coming back, and I can’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a decent burger.

You’ll be full, but not amazed. The fries (thick-cut chips) were extra, but they were tasty and worth adding on. It’s a solid, satisfying meal, but don’t expect anything extraordinary.

Worthless restaurant. Take an order, don't deliver, can't be reached by phone and then close the place. I wonder if the money will be returned. Unreliable.

One of the worst experiences ever. I had to wait over 25 minutes for a cheeseburger, even though it was quiet. Completely confused employees. When the cheeseburger was finished with just a slice of cold cheese, I complained. Damn, the "boss," who hadn't been working the whole time, came over and said, "You're rude, you're not getting any food." I then got my money back. Stay away from that place.

Ordered the double smash burger which isnt a real smash burger. The burger bun wasnt really toasted, it was cold and raw. Fries werent crispy. Service took very long. The experience ruined my day for 10 minutes, which made my girlfriend angry too. Can recommend the natas from the portoguese guy to enjoy life again.

This review concern their collaboration with uber eats. You order through Uber, the order gets cancelled, the driver marks it as delivered and nobody notify you. Paid almost 30€, Uber cannot do anything and the butcher doesn’t even consider to give you an explanation or contact you for a refund. Wonderful when the driver told me on a phone call “my shift has ended, the restaurant ran out of stock, good luck”. Free money right? Tried to call them. Money gone.

Ordered here 2 times, both times the order never arrived and I didn’t get any money back. Nor any explanation or apology. My order was put on the status ‘delivered’ but nothing ever arrived. Because it’s supposedly ‘delivered’ uber won’t reimburse. Be warned, don’t order anything here because they scam you.

I asked for a recomendation with my burger order and they said the one with cheese and i say ok. Then they give me a burger withput cheese. When i complain they just put cheese on top, they dont melt it and nothing. No nice.

The waiting time was ok, more or less 10 minutes. Surprising for a place this busy on Saturday. Food was pretty bad for the price (20 eur for a double cheeseburger that wasn’t exactly to die for, another 7 eur for sweet fries and sauces were extra). They have no trays, they give you all of your food in your hands with only one napkin per meal. Getting an order through was extremely hard as Nobody seemed to speak any proper English or Dutch. The kitchen seemed quite dirty.

I liked the veggie burger but my boyfriend found the meat patty to be in need of more salt. The fries were okay, we thought they could have given a bigger sauce container. The service was a bit slow but we thought they were understaffed so it’s not their fault.

The Burger was very good (the simple butcher) however it was not specified that you had to pay extra for the fries, the Burger itself was already €11.95

They used to have one of the best fish&chips in Amsterdam. Now they are serving you few pieces of kibbling with some fries on the side that are nowhere close to nice and big portion of cod+fries+two sauces that they used to have. Shame you're screwing your own products

Slow and poor service, to say they look unhappy for you to come by is an understatement. Food is all right, a bit overpriced but that's on par with Foodhallen.

Disappointing experience at The Butcher On the advice of my girlfriend, we decided to order from The Butcher, as I am usually eager for a good burger. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. To eat: The burger was cold and nothing special. For the price, I expected at least something unique, but the bun came across as uncharitable and seemed like it could just as well be a supermarket burger – which I can make much better at home. The fries were limp and not cooked properly, which made the whole thing even more disappointing. Service: The service was also disappointing. Of the five employees we encountered, not a single one cracked a smile. For a place that profiles itself as trendy and cozy, you would expect a bit more cheerfulness and spontaneity. All in all, a Big King XL from Burger King far exceeds what The Butcher offers in terms of taste and price-quality. This was my first and last time here; a waste of money and effort.

Overall I would say this is a passable burger by American standards. They call it smash but its not really. Flavor was kinda plain, its obvious they depend heavily on sauces for flavor. I dont know if it was my order size or what but they literally just hand you the burger and fries. No bag, no plate, nothing. I think there are better places on the food hall.

The Burger was very good. The meat is the main point from the whole thing. It is not an outer space burger but you will enjoy it. Price wise i would say a bit overpriced because with a burger fries and sauce u are around 20€.. but give it a try
