A very stylish restaurant with delicious food. We enjoyed a very comfortable meal in a quiet atmosphere.

When you hire a bouncer as the host, you inevitably loose on hospitality. Clearly the guy has to deal occasionally with people who disrupt the public order. However, to extend this attitude to us, a family of 3 young kids and to be warned 3 times within half an hour of ordering hot chocolate milks can hardly be seen reasonable. First it was my 6 year old who was warned for playing at the pinball machines, then he came over to warn us for my 3 year old in the photo booth, and finally when even my 8 months old was touching the plastic tray, I couldn’t hold back no more. The owners need to set their priorities right. Families, at 17:30 in the afternoon, having a stroll for hot chocolate, should never be harassed the way this organization has made it their trademark.

Very unfriendly personal. We just had to wait a few minutes for Lookout to open, but have been forced to wait outside in the rain although there was nothing else going on.

I live in Amsterdam, this is a nice place with decent food and not cheap but fair enough price considering the location and the vibe. I go here frequently when I’m having friends over from somewhere else. But I don’t know since when but recently they started to add 10% service charge to the bill without asking. You can remove it when paying, but they don’t make it obvious. I find this behaviour ridiculous and I’m now giving a 1 star review. Hopefully they will stop doing this in the future if I ever visit again. If the owner is reading this, just raise the price of the menu by 10% if you are not making enough money. The prices aren’t cheap but I would still occasionally go even after 10% hike because I find the prices acceptable considering the vibe and everything. But what you are doing now just feels like a scam.

Beautiful location, with reasonable prices compared to other places in Amsterdam. Small portions but tasty dishes. The Italian waiter who welcomed us into the restaurant and served us was kind.

Food: burger delicious! Service: Absolutely horrible. My husband and I had to practically beg to be served after waiting over 20 minutes at the bar. The staff made no effort to be friendly or helpful, and when we finally asked one of the bartenders, he was extremely rude. The atmosphere was heavy and unwelcoming. It felt like staff only served people they assumed would spend more money, choosing who to serve and when. No one offered any information or made an effort to provide decent service. Such a shame!! we won’t be coming back. PS: We spent around €130 on two buguers and a few drinks, so money was not the issue. The real problem was the staff’s judgment of customers.

Excellent service and delicious food. Ignore reviews complaining about long waits, that's how service in the Netherlands is supposed to be. American tourists hate spending time with each other and are always trying to leave restaurants quickly.

The food was really nice and definitely the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t very good and felt inattentive. On top of that, the DJ was so loud that it was hard to enjoy a conversation while dining, which took away from the overall experience. With better service and a lower music volume, this place could be much more enjoyable.

Service fee in the Netherlands?? Last weekend we went here for dinner. I hadn't been for a while. The quality of the food seemed to have changed. It happens. It was also more expensive than I expected. Anyway, we were comfortable and the service was good. That's why I rounded up the bill. When we wanted to leave, I checked the receipt. At the end of the bill, a 10% service fee had been added (on top of the bill). This is simply not legal in the Netherlands. So I spoke to the manager. He immediately agreed with us and immediately refunded the service fee in cash. I'm probably not the first person to have raised this issue, considering how she handled it. She also said that the waitress should have asked first if we were "okay with paying the service fee." In my opinion, this is quite odd. It sounded more like an excuse. Because I'm almost certain this happens to other guests who don't realize it, or to tourists who don't know what is and isn't legal. They just blindly pay for it. Just charging a service fee doesn't feel right to me. You're already paying a hefty amount, plus you tip yourself if you've had a good experience. We're not in America, where restaurant staff are underpaid. I won't be coming back.

We tried two burgers, one with truffle and one with cheese. They were incredibly delicious! With a beer and fries, we paid 42 euros. The atmosphere was great, and so was the food. A must-try.

A good place, with a good atmosphere for fast food.. it wasn't anything memorable, but it wasn't anything we didn't like either. We would have liked a little faster service overall, but it wasn't something that spoiled our mood. Also, for some reason it had a bit of a bad smell, but that could have been a coincidence.

The Butcher Social Club in Amsterdam offers a refreshing and modern take on the classic burger joint. Gosh... this place offers great meat and milkshakes. It's a chill vibe atmosphere.

Food wise, I would say I have tasted better somewhere else and it was not memorable to me. Second, as pointed out in other comments, their service is horribly poor. We were ready to order food and we reached out to the waiters. There were two waiters talking to each other. We made eye contact with one, he avoided and asked his other colleague to attend to us. His other colleague took a very long time to take our order. When it comes to making payment, we called for waiter to bring the bill. Noone attended us. We walked to the cashier/bartender to make payment, the bartender was shocked to see us. He called the guy who took our order to attend us. Again, this guy took a very long time to bring us the invoice. Overall, there are sufficient staff, but they chose to be inefficient and selective in attending to customers.

Totally rocked it. Great food, great staff! I’ll be back!

A 10% gratuity was automatically added to the bill – I only noticed this later, so I tipped twice. The coleslaw and fries were really tasty, but some of the salad wasn't washed properly. Unfortunately, coffee and tea were no longer available at 3 p.m. So, you should pay close attention to the bill when paying. The atmosphere and staff were otherwise good, except for the cashier.

We went Friday during ADE and the service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious.

The food was decent, but not good enough for the price. There were very few fries for the price of €5.25. Finally, there was a 10% service charge! So we had to pay an extra €4.75. I find this rather unfair; you should clearly state this beforehand. Otherwise, it's not even legally allowed. The staff was friendly, though! But unfortunately, I can't give it more than 2 stars because of the service charge.

The restaurant is very nice and cozy. I ordered the falafel burger – unfortunately, the patty was extremely salty and therefore barely edible. The fries were also way too salty for my taste. The coleslaw salad was delicious! It was a shame they ran out of coffee or tea at 3:30 p.m.

Okay-ish burgers for okay price, i do wish in the truffle burger i would taste the truffle more. Over 7 euros for a half litre of water seems like a bit much to me too. Atmosphere is great tho! Clean toilets too.

Service and atmosphere was really great! Sadly I have no idea how people think this is a good burger place. The fries were good but the burgers were not. We had "the butchers wife's favourite" (chicken) and the "butchers burger" (beef) and both were below average for the price. No flavour or heart in the food. It just felt like mass produced, slapped together with no thought at all. So sadly, I would not recommend.

A great place if you would like to watch a football match with friends or even alone. Burgers are good, way better than international chains known for burgers. Due to too many customers slow service, park your bike properly outside, bicycle thefts happen being a tourist place.

The service was a bit slow and not present, we sat as a group of six outside. Other than that the food was absolute mind blowing and amazing. The burgers are really really good. Also had the sweet potato fries and those were very tasty as well! Would definitely come back, regardless of the service, this place deserves 5 stars foodwise, heerlie de peerlie!

Hardly any staff spoke Dutch. You specifically asked if you wanted the meat medium and two medium rare. But unfortunately, you got three well-done orders. It also took quite a while, so we didn't ask for another one. They didn't politely ask if everything was to your liking. We were standing in front of a closed revolving door, and it took quite a while for staff to respond. It's a shame. The location, etc., is simply perfect.

The burgers looked delicious, too bad we didn't choose that. We thought it would be sirloin steak. Ahh, nice, something different. A big disappointment. The meat wasn't bad, but certainly not great. It came with 3 onion rings and a mushroom top. It was expensive, and I might have gone to McDonald's after 3 of these meals. The atmosphere was quite good, and the staff was friendly. The surroundings were noisy, but more from the music, so it was cozy.

Paid €55 per person for The Butcher SAIL special, and although the description of the events said that the event promises “sparkling Bacardi drinks, and a curated menu of signature bites from THE BUTCHER Social Club”, in reality only one welcome cocktail was included in the price, and there was NO FOOD. This is really a case of false advertisement and made me wonder what we paid €55 for?? The view was nice, sure, but was it worth €55? 🤔 Nope. So we had to order and paid for 2 burgers with fries, which came with an attitude, as well as cold and limp fries. Service was none existent (some of us had to go 2 levels down to the kitchen to order burgers) and pick them up ourselves. Staff were rude and impatient. Overall, it made what could have been a great experience into a terrible one.

The restaurant is well located and has a modern atmosphere. The fish & chips were good and the staff were friendly, which made the experience pleasant. Prices for the food were reasonable, but paying €7.63 (including. VAT) for half a litter of water is ridiculous

Sot their food is pretty good. But we booked the rooftop event which said to enjoy cocktails and bites and we paid 55 euros each for the event which said your table is reserved for two. When we arrived we found out that there is actually no table reserved; you just Find a place and sit in a crowded almost full roof. So that’s one. Two, the food is not included we need to buy it. Their poster was misleading . Quite disappointed with the event.

We were mislead by the post on website regarding Sail event on Sunday, they didn’t mention it’s not including food just one welcome drink .. and the roof is not in best condition not enough chairs for all people and the sunbeds are so bad all this for 55 euros for one person, thats alot for what we got. Their food is good but i don’t appreciate the misleading website post.

Extremely unfriendly, rude, and verbally aggressive staff. They ignore you, snap at you, and treat you like dirt. And all of this, of course, in English, because no one speaks a word of Dutch. They also just happen to close at 10 p.m. instead of midnight (two hours earlier), even though the whole place is packed with waiting guests. Even as a hotel guest, there were no drinks available. This was a complete disgrace that I will unfortunately not soon forget. Because of the aggressive behavior of "the manager," I feel extremely disrespected, especially as a hotel guest. I have never been treated so poorly and rudely anywhere in the world as at The Butcher. If it were possible, I would have given zero stars. As far as I'm concerned, they can close this place immediately.

We actually had a delightful time. Initially stopped in for just a drink but got a chicken sandwich because it turned into a few drinks and it was delicious! It was about 15 euros. The hotdog was 11 euros which seemed a bit excessive but aside from that everything was fine, maybe just slightly more expensive than I’d expect. My one qualm was that there was only one waitress for the entire outdoor area so it was a little difficult to get her attention but when we did she was perfectly lovely and the things I ordered came within minutes of ordering them. Most importantly, absolutely beautiful views.

Zeer onvriendelijk, onbeschoft en verbaal agressief personeel. Ze negeren je, ze snauwen je af en ze behandelen je als eens stuk vuil. En dat uiteraard allemaal in het Engels, want niemand spreekt een woord Nederlands. Ze gaan daarnaast gewoon zomaar om 22 uur dicht in plaats van 0 uur (2 uur eerder), terwijl de hele tent vol zit met wachtende gasten. Zelfs als hotelgast was er geen drankje meer te krijgen. Dit was een enorme aanfluiting die ik helaas niet snel zal vergeten. Als het mogelijk was geweest had ik nul sterren gegeven.

Delicious food, excellent meat!! I will definitely be back. Plus, eating with a view is always nice. The restaurant also has a pool table and ping pong table, perfect for some fun.

Food is very good but little pricey.

Four of us sat outside with friends at the large picnic table assigned to us by a friendly staff member. Here too, the staff only speaks English. It keeps me feeling like a tourist in my own city :-) The menu was quickly handed to us, and taking our orders was also quick. We opted for hamburgers and dressed nachos (highly recommended) as a starter. It then took quite a while (an hour) for our meals to be served. We were quite early, around 5:30, so the kitchen probably hadn't started yet. We did get our drinks (0.2 liter cola, 4 euros). The hamburgers looked good, not overly large (quite pricey these days, around 14 euros), and very tasty. Not the quality of hamburger specialist De Burgermeester; for that, they should have had a more pronounced flavor. Moreover, it was a small slice of meat. They also offer vegetarian burgers. The outdoor terrace at the foot of the Adam Tower offers a great view of the water and the countless tourists passing by. The patio isn't very inviting; it's just the picnic tables, chairs, and parasols; otherwise, it's bare. The same goes for the inside, though. It might still need some growth. All in all, we left reasonably satisfied.

This was a busy Sunday lunch and I am a tourist speaking English - the service was non-existent- I received my initial order then no one came near me. We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we ate here twice during our stay in Amsterdam! The food is great, really enjoyed the drinks selection and there’s a great atmosphere. I would recommend the chicken burger, absolutely delicious! Sometimes a bit difficult getting the wait staff to notice you but not too bad of a wait.

We stopped by for some lunch. The food is quite good. The price is reasonable about 20 euros per plate. It’s a good deal considering you are in touristy area. The service is slow mainly to staffing.

A very good four stars: the fries are fantastic, the burgers delicious. The prices are good, apart from the rather expensive drinks. The ambiance is interesting; it feels like something between a living room, a hotel lobby, and a club. Perfect for lunch, but a cozy dinner is less likely to be there, and that's okay.

Went for the chicken burger. It’s not spicy at all despite what it was advertised. The fries were dry. The venue is very decent with a live dj and arcade games.

Ordered two burgers and fries through Uber Eats, only got one burger and cold fries. I don’t know how a burger place can make such a dumb mistake, on top of that you can call them all you want but nobody will pick up the phone.

Paid 15 euros for a UFC viewing. The bar was a joke. I stood there for over 30 minutes, only to watch the bartender blatantly serve people who cut the line, over and over. No system, no fairness, just a free-for-all mess. Staff looked overwhelmed and couldn’t care less. The food was just as bad, taking more than an hour to arrive.

Litteraly waited 1.5 hour for fries. Every round of beer took 30 mins. Not even kidding. I dont mind waiting, but seeing how the bar staff is not working hard during crazy hours is frustrating. Do not recommend going here, especially for an event.

Worst organized UFC event. Waiting for a drink takes about 15 minutes. There’re two toilets for about 100 men, with a cleaner constantly staring at everybody going to the toilet?? How about hiring enough staff for this event, instead of having two people run the bar for so many people. Runners look like they don’t know where they are. Really poorly organized.

I had dinner with my family. The food and service were good, but what surprised me a bit was the bill. When I read on the receipt that I'd paid €7 for 0.75-liter still water and that I'd included a 10% tip, I thought it was unfair. I've eaten at other places and when you get the bill, they ask if you want to leave a tip, and if so, they let you choose a percentage of the total... 5%, 10%, etc. In this case, the waiter decided on his own that 10% was fine. For the service provided, it was fine without a tip; it was standard practice. We won't be returning.

We had to wait very long for de waitress and the food was salty 🧂 and dry I had spareribs the sauce was dry perhaps to long in the oven.

Food is pretty good however it is a tad bit overpriced and drinks are super expensive. The waiters were nice but very cheeky in trying to make us pay for branded water after we had asked for tap water. Would recommend if it’s just for food.

The food was delicious, but the service was a shame, especially with the white-haired waiter who greeted us. He was very serious and distant with the other waiters. He seemed tense with the other staff, and he transmitted that same tension to the atmosphere, completely ruining our mood. Later, it took about 15-20 minutes for our food to arrive, and the waiter wasn't busy with anything. More than for us, who enjoyed the food, which was honestly good, it was a shame to see how he spoke disparagingly to the other staff. Otherwise, everything was fine, and the location was great.

The butcher is a very bad restaurant. Do not order from them online with delivery, no matter with which app. They are in a place where no delivery people want to come, so you wait more than 45 minutes for delivery and if you cancel the order then YOU HAVE TO PAY THE WHOLE AMOUNT. It is a shame, they know that delivery is a problem there but they still go on All those apps. Ridiculous

Manager took order and left the restaurant. Weve waited 40 minutes for a food and drinks. .I just asked if we can get at least our drinks after this time so the waitress informed us (after 40 minutes of waiting) that she dont know what is our order. Id like to admit that in whole restaurant is 10 people... such a shame

Great lounge in Amsterdam. The mini arcade is a nice touch, the music was fantastic. It was packed on a Sunday night but we were able to snatch 2 seats at the bar. Burgers were great, the boozy milkshakes? Sooo good! Try the Dripping Drunch, seriously, no regrets.
