Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. Service was ideal, not too over bearing but checked in with us throughout our visit. The menu is concise and yet broad enough to find something for most. My partner had the spicy chicken burger while I opted for rhe half roast chicken. I feel I made the best decision as that chicken was melt in the mouth and succulent. The bread is a must get. We thought it might just been some basic bread but the little monkey bread style basket that came out was so much more that that. We ended up fighting over it.

The food was okay, but the service was pretty bad. The waiter was clueless. I asked for two beers, and he only brought one. When asked if the burger came with fries, he said yes, then changed his mind. I asked if the water on the table was the only one they had, and he said it was, without mentioning that a bottle costs €7.50. I asked for it cold, and he still didn't bring it. In short, it could have been a pleasant meal, but it ended up being uncomfortable. I should also mention that I asked another waiter for the missing beer, and he was much nicer. Things might have gone much better with that waiter.

As their name states - get the chicken hahaha. I had the half chicken - delicious. Some of the other items at our table were very good as well. Their homemade fries are great too. Our waiter was very nice, but after we got our food, we were kindly of lost in the shuffle. We did have great seats by the front - watching the world pass by. In a sea of generic restaurants, this one stands out with rotisserie chicken. It is a solid choice - thanks.

Although a little noisy, the restaurant is pleasant with its open kitchen and central bar. We really enjoyed ourselves. The service is attentive and friendly. The value for money is reasonable and we will probably come back.

10/10 Here, they transform "ordinary chicken" into a "culinary feast." The expression "KIPLEKKER" suddenly takes on a whole new meaning and depth. The service was good, polite, and fast, and they also honestly explained the portion sizes and what to do/not do or combine. The cutlery, dishes, and napkins were perfectly tailored to your desire to enjoy delicious chicken. Traditionally DELICIOUS and tender grilled chicken. Seasoned and grilled correctly, making it tender, cooked through, and NOT dry. Served in/with various combinations. The potatoes/baby potatoes (Roseval potatoes) and coleslaw were also of TOP quality and flavor. A great TEAM in a beautiful, clean, and large restaurant (which you wouldn't know from the outside). Our "minuses": the readability of the menu (combination of font size, color scheme, and "mood lighting"), CARD ONLY (no cash), the sauce cups (the tableware is correct; paper cups don't fit). But WE will be back.

Had an early dinner there on a Sunday evening. Ordered a half chicken with grilled vegetable and a chicken talo as a starter. The food is great but the half chicken was a bit smaller than I expected. The time to wait for your server to order food and pay the bill could be considered a bit slow, and so please be patient!

Great food in a great city! My girl and me are BIG Chicken Bar Fans! Almost every time we visit Amsterdam we come here to eat and it's always delicious! They have great food. The staff is very nice. The price is more than fair for the amount of food. If you like chicken you MUST visit Chicken Bar! Have a great time and enjoy the great food!

Cosy restaurant, good service, but very underwhelming food. The rotisserie chicken was super bland and tasted of nothing. The chicken burger was mediocre at best, the bun was dry and cold, the patty of something from McDonald's. The coleslaw was nice and fresh, shame the other food wasn't. Place has good potential if they get a proper chef hired.

I ate chicken tenders and handmade fries. Expectations were high but it was nothing special. Very basic. Chicken tenders came with small sweet chili sauce that was not enough. Not even with extra dip.

This place has the best rotisserie chicken, hands down. The fried chicken sandwich was also incredibly good, and the coleslaw and fries were perfect. Loved the outdoor seating too, it’s right by a busy alley, so you can relax, eat great food, and people watch.

The food was good. I ordered a whole chicken, but it was dry in the middle. It needed to be paired with the gravy, otherwise it was too dry. The grilled vegetables and salad weren't very good either. The fries on the menu were said to be a collaboration with the old Dutch fries shop next door, but they weren't as good. 😛 The service was good. Also, the beer was expensive...

This is our second time back here in Amsterdam, and the experience couldn't be better. The chicken was very juicy, the fries were perfectly cooked, and the onion rings were crispy and delicious. As for the price, I don't think it's as expensive as some people say. We were seven adults, with four individual dishes, one chicken, three starters, and drinks—just over €20 per person.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Our waitress was so nice and sweet. Two friends had the pulled chicken burger, one half a chicken and the other had chicken wings. Definitely recommend sharing some sides.

Sept 24th 2.45pm Chicken Bar is a great spot if you're craving some nice, juicy chicken. Even though they've changed a few things, the food still hits the spot. Martin, our server, was super cool and friendly, which really added to the experience. However, I feel Laura could be a bit more flexible with customer requests. After traveling for long hours, we were tired and just wanted to sit in a booth. I understand that booths are typically reserved for parties of four, and we were only two, but the restaurant was nearly empty at the time — only two other tables were occupied. I politely asked Martin if we could sit in a booth, but Laura said no. I would completely understand if the place was busy and they needed to keep booths available, but that wasn’t the case. That aside, overall, it was a good experience. The food was enjoyable, and the service (especially from Martin) was great.

The atmosphere is spacious, welcoming, and warm. The location is modern and well-kept. The food is really good, nothing to complain about. The desserts could perhaps be improved, but the chicken here is unlike anything else. The chicken in the buns is crispy and very fragrant, almost "aromatic." The crispy exterior and juicy interior make every bite a delight. The potatoes are incredibly crispy and super flavorful, the best I've ever tasted. The service is fast and efficient. Average prices for the Dutch standard of living.

Weird Seating Policy today. It was totally Empty, no Seats/Booth were taken. Usually get a nice booth to sit, today the young working crew denied it, it‘s only for groups with reservations. Never had that experience there over the last 20 visits, thats not how you should treat returning Costumers. Even after questions that they complain, it will be busy on mondays….. Sit for an hour and no new customers…. Too Sad the Boss wasn’t there today. Food was good as always. Next time i have to check who is working and than decided to go maybe again…

Amazing fresh chicken! Very tasty and a nice ambience inside. Not too big a place so service feels personal and doesn’t take long. If you’re into chicken this is the place to be!

Je recommande à absolument tous les amateurs de poulet et qui sont en visite à Amsterdam ! Nous avons partagé un poulet entier à 3 et le poulet était à se damner ! Nous avons tellement aimé que nous avons hésité à revenir le lendemain ! Un plaisir gustatif, en plus d’un personnel agréable avec qui la communication était très simple en anglais. Petit plus : il y a des toilettes gratuites pour les clients. Je recommande les yeux fermés pour tout le monde !

Amazing! Definitely the best rotisserie chicken I have ever had, so tender, succulent and full of flavour, just perfect! We were a walk in and had absolutely no problem what so ever getting a table, even though it was busy. Staff really friendly and service great, not rushed at all. Definitely recommend a visit here.

Great service, prices, and food

The chicken was so juicy!! We were very satisfied with our lunch. The whole chicken with 2 sides filled my husband and I up perfectly with hardly anything left over.

Good chicken cuisine, a casual and pleasant atmosphere, a great option for a healthy lunch while exploring the city center. The only thing to note—as is the case throughout Amsterdam—is the very high price of mineral water.

When you travel with teenagers to countries not known for their culinary riches, you have to find options for all tastes, and this one was perfect. We ate on the terrace because the weather allowed it, but the interior seemed spacious and welcoming, clean, and well-decorated. We ordered several types of burgers and also the roasted chicken, their specialty. The latter was a pleasant surprise, as it was uniquely seasoned. The staff was attentive and efficient at all times. Definitely recommended.

My husband and I went to this restaurant a little while back. When we got to the front of the line the waiter told us there was no space and that it would be an hour long wait - which I highly doubted. The part that felt off was the fact that he was already escorting my husband out as he was saying this. I asked if we could just wait outside on one of the tables and he said he doesn’t do table serve outside - fair - but why were there two young ladies sat on one of them enjoying drinks? We felt very unwelcome here but I decided to check for online bookings and found one available in an hour so I went and asked if I should book online. He quickly shut this down and said he’d get us a table faster and sure enough one was available in the next few minutes. In terms of food, the chicken was alright but nothing special.

What a wonderful and atmospheric spot for lunch or dinner where chicken takes center stage. We chose the half chicken, which was deliciously flavorful and super tender. You have to order the side dishes separately, as do the sauces (I've had the same wonderful experience every time I've eaten here). And you really get your money's worth; excellent value for money.

We arrived as a group of 7, 4 adults and 3 children. The restaurant was empty, and they barely seated us because the largest tables are for 6 people, and they didn't want to put tables together. The burgers were good, the chicken was raw, and we asked for it to be cooked a little longer. The waiters were unfriendly. Forget about asking for "tap water," because they'll tell you no (€7 each bottle of water). They charge extra for the ingredients, as well as the ketchup (€1 each packet)... so you're paying for chicken at the price of a steak in Ávila.

The food is good, but I think it's expensive. They didn't say no to giving us a glass of water for the kids, and the price of a bottle of water was 7.50 euros. It's a total rip-off.

We had a great meal at The Chicken Bar! The half chicken was perfectly grilled – juicy on the inside and nicely seasoned. As a Belgian, eating fries in a Dutch restaurant is always a bit of a wait. These were truly delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed, and we were served by friendly, typically Amsterdam staff. It was clear they were understaffed, which they told us honestly and promptly. Nevertheless, they handled it perfectly; we had no problems at all. We were comfortable, highly recommended for anyone who enjoys grilled chicken and a relaxed atmosphere. Centrally located, you can dine there for a long or short period.

The food is good, although a bit pricey. The service is average, you have to pay extra on top of the full meal to get sauces and fries, and the restaurant doesn't provide a carafe of water, which is also chargeable (over €7).

El restaurante apenas estaba lleno en un 40%, sin embargo, nos dijeron que esperáramos hasta que se despejara una mesa. Como una familia joven con un niño de dos años, el momento más extraño llegó cuando nos pidieron que moviéramos nuestro cochecito porque el servidor se sentía incómodo sirviendo cerca de él. Tuve que reorganizar torpemente sillas y mesas como un juego de Tetris, solo para acomodar lo que debería haber sido una cortesía básica en un restaurante casi vacío. La comida se dejó caer en nuestra mesa sin ningún cuidado, tuvimos que organizarlo nosotros mismos. Era promedio en el mejor de los casos, y las papas fritas estaban visiblemente sobrecocinadas (confirmado más tarde cuando se compara con sus propias fotos en línea). Lo más evidente fue el contraste en el servicio: unas pocas mesas abajo, observamos sonrisas cálidas, un servicio atento y una actitud generalmente más amable. No podíamos evitar preguntarnos: ¿era este trato diferencial algo más que el flujo de clientes? En resumen, no es un lugar que recomendaría, especialmente si esperas decencia básica y un servicio consistente para todos los huéspedes.

The food isn't bad, but nothing special. There's no water jug, so you have to buy a bottled water that costs over €7. The meal quickly becomes expensive because everything is à la carte, fries are extra, etc.

Unwelcoming, Inconsiderate & Inconsistent Experience From the moment we entered, we felt like an inconvenience. Despite it being only 20:45, we were immediately told, “You must order quickly — the kitchen closes in 10 minutes.” The restaurant was barely 40% full, yet we were told to wait until a table was cleared. As a young family with a two-year-old, the most bizarre moment came when we were asked to move our pram because the server felt uncomfortable serving near it. I had to awkwardly rearrange chairs and tables like a game of Tetris, just to accommodate what should’ve been a basic courtesy in a nearly empty restaurant. The food was dropped on our table with no care, we had to arrange it ourselves. It was average at best, and the fries were visibly overcooked (confirmed later when comparing with their own photos online). Most glaring was the contrast in service: a few tables down, we observed warm smiles, attentive service, and a generally friendlier attitude. We couldn’t help but question — was this differential treatment about more than just customer flow? In short, not a place I’d recommend, especially if you’re expecting basic decency and consistent service for all guests.

The restaurant is clean, spacious, and wide, unlike most restaurants. Tables are close together. As for the food, the burger is average, and I didn't like the grilled chicken. The prices are high, and the taste isn't special. They don't serve tap water. Ketchup and mayonnaise cost one euro. I won't visit again, and I don't recommend it.

No puede culpar a este restaurante en absoluto. Sí, no es un menú extenso pero todo se hace bien. La gente a nuestro alrededor estaba de visita por lo menos por segunda vez. We were walking a lot, tired and hungry and we popped into the Chicken Bar for a protein refuel. The chicken was yummy - so much so that we first ordered a whole chicken and decided we needed another half. Juicy and tender, and the sides were great also. Reminded me of Kenny Rogers Roasters, but a bit posher. Granted, if you go to say the Albert Cuyp market, you can see rotisserie chickens going for less than 10 euro but we weren't there so......I think my overall rating would be an encouraging 3.5 instead of a 4, but that's purely from a value for money perspective.

Fried chicken was super dry and kind of tasteless, and it is one of those annoying dutch places that won't let you have tap water and the bottled water is ridiculously expensive. Actually, it's overall just far too expensive for what it is.

I've been going to the Chicken Bar once or twice per month for the last couple of years, and I still love it. I usually go by myself for some "me" time and sit in the bar with a book, eating the amazing chicken an reflecting on life. Good people working there providing very nice service.

We reserved for 6 people, but last minute a friend joined us. We asked if he could join but apparently it was too much to ask for an extra spot (on an empty restaurant😂). They happily pointed us outside to find a different restaurant, really rude short-sighted staff.

got the fried chicken burger and as amazing as it was, i tried a friends 1/2 chicken and it was the best grilled chicken i have ever had in my life, the chicken gravy was also unreal. i could not recommend this place anymore if you are in amsterdam
