Natalia was a wonderful hostess who managed to find us a lovely spot despite a late reservation. We enjoyed a delicious dry-aged côte de boeuf. A lovely atmosphere, a great atmosphere, and good food.

I don't come here often, but when I'm in the area, I have to visit. If you like quality meat, you'll be in the right place! As a meat eater, I even rave about their salad. Last week, I was there a little too early in the day to scarf down a few hundred grams of steak, so I ordered their smoked rib-eye sandwich. Everything about it was perfect.

Priya was incredibly helpful, and the food was delicious. Highly recommended. We'll be back soon.

We had high expectations of this place based on the rating but we got disappointed before we even got the food. We had to wait over 1.5 hour to get the food and when it arrived the rib eye steaks was not worth half the price we had to pay, half the peace was like eating chewing gum. My partner got a new one but they removed all the side dishes and sauce when they took the plate. We wasted too much time on the place so we missed the event that we had planned afterwards, don't recommend it for anyone that wants proper food and service. Way too expensive!

Excellent service and a really lovely team. We got a table straight away without a reservation. From the starters to the main course with sides, the wine, dessert and espresso, it was a perfect evening. Time faded into the background and gave way to pure enjoyment.

Ordered medium rare steak, go a well done one. Felt like I was chewing a shoe sole. I don't feel that much sorry for the price as much as I feel sorry for the meat itself.

This restaurant was a disappointment. We came for dinner, and it was very expensive, over 200 euros for four people. To start with, the food did not seem to be prepared with much care or attention. The soup we ordered as a starter lacked flavour, and the bife tataki was also not enjoyable. Then came the meat. We ordered the tomahawk, 1.2 kg, and it did not meet our expectations. The meat was overcooked, not medium as we ordered but closer to medium plus. The staff did not contribute much to the overall experience, and at times it felt as though everything could have been done through a tablet without any difference. At one point, several fire alarms went off, and the restaurant filled with a light smell of smoke, which affected the atmosphere. When the restaurant became full, our plates remained on the table for about twenty minutes after we finished eating. Later, when we asked for the menu to order dessert, we asked in English. The waiter still asked whether we preferred the English or Dutch menu, which suggested that he was not fully attentive, as it would have been clear from our request that we were asking for the English one. We ordered dessert, a baked chocolate chip cookie, which was fine but not memorable. I often dine in restaurants of this category, such as Cannibale Royale, and here we felt that we paid more yet received a significantly lower quality of experience. The place did not have much atmosphere, and unfortunately we do not plan to return.

Yesterday,I went there with my family. (in total 7). The service was too slow and when it came it was cold and there was a piece of plastic in the cesar salad.

The meat was impossible to chew. Full of nerves and stiff. I could not finish it. I do not recommend Ribeye. Also, it was already cold when it was served. Super disappointing.

Bavette and chateaubriand were perfectly cooked and tender. That’s was my second visit here this month and probably not the last one:)

While serving the meat dish, the waitress spilled the sauce on the table (and on my phone). In response, I got a rather amused smile and two paper napkins. I had to clean up the table myself. As I leave, I make this remark to the manager, but I didn't feel supported. After a brief "I'll talk to her," he explained that it's difficult for young people today to have the necessary seriousness at work, and that it's generalized from 16 to 22 years old, that basically, there's nothing we can do about it. At our previous restaurant, the young beginner who served us was serious, attentive and respectful. Obviously, the absence of these qualities is not a barrier to working at "The Updown Meet Club". The Uptown Meat Club was a disappointing experience during our Amex dining visit. The special menu offered almost no choice—just one starter and one main. The 500g dry-aged entrecote was tough and far from tender, and we waited over an hour for it to arrive. Overall, poor value and service. I wouldn’t return, especially with so many better alternatives in Amsterdam.

Calling with a question about a reservation… An English-speaking lady explained that she doesn't speak Dutch. I said: "Oh, and I don't speak English." She said: "There's no one in the house who speaks Dutch." Huh? We're just in the Netherlands, aren't we? 😄 Why do I have to try my best in English, while they don't even try a little Dutch themselves? Apparently, these days in the Netherlands, you have to learn English to make a reservation. Hopefully, the food is better than their Dutch! 🍽️🇳🇱 Response to the restaurant owner's answer: It's no problem if someone doesn't speak Dutch, but it would be nice if there was at least one employee who did or tried to find a solution together. Unfortunately, the lady didn't and hung up, which I thought was a shame. My review was only about the service; I'm going to try the food, and I'll give it an honest review. After visiting the restaurant: Since we had a reservation, we wanted to try the food and give it a fair chance. Starter: It was delicious, nothing to complain about! Bread platter: The bread was fresh and warm, very tasty. However, the piece of herb butter was very small – far too little for two people. Main course: The meat was of good quality and tasted very good. However, there were significant chunks of fat on it, so of the 500 grams to share, about 400 grams were left over. But again: the taste was excellent! Fries: Unfortunately, the fries that came with it were lukewarm. We reported this, and they said they would bring more. After fifteen minutes, we asked again if they would (the meat was already gone by then). When the fries finally arrived, some were nice and hot and fresh, but others were cold. It seemed the cold and warm fries had been mixed up – a shame that they tried to resolve the issue that way. The salad that came with it was just one bite for each person; tip: with a dish for two, order a salad for both people. The service: they did their best, but it wasn't very warm and cozy. All in all, we would come back for the meat, but unfortunately not for the side dishes and the service/atmosphere.

I ordered it medium rare, but it was so hard I couldn't chew it. It gave me a headache. I added some vegetables, but they were only a few and the price was very high. The bread I ordered for the appetizer was very dry and not tasty. But the service was good. I wouldn't recommend it.

Good not great, we came for restaurant week and a Friday evening we expected it to be busy but they seemed to be properly staff (with more than you usually see in Amsterdam restaurants) but still the service was poor. Each time they forgot parts of the dishes or sides, the steak was overcooked and usually at a steak place you are given steak knives. Instead we were left with butter knives until we had to get up (since the servers never came back) to ask for a knife. It is the first time in 5 years I have been back and don’t see a reason to try it again compared to other steak spots in the city. The cheesecake was great though

Average food with terrible service. It can’t be worse than this, we waited so long for everything, ended up they are not having our desert orders available, ordered other deserts, waited some 20-ish minutes more to arrive. It was a terrible experience with 7-person business dinner.

Lovely cosy atmosphere and the staff were cheerful and welcoming. Ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwich and smoked rib eye sandwich and they were beautiful. Especially when combined with their home made bbq sauce which is like a sweet chilli jam. Wonderful experience and highly worth a visit.

We relied on reviews, and in this case, the experience was a disappointment. It could be that on a summer day, the restaurant's terrace wasn't the best option for lunch, but the interior was deserted and uninspiring. The menu was sparse in variety and heavily focused on meat—meat, by the way, at excessively high prices for the quantity and quality offered. Going with teenagers, we tried to find alternatives that weren't just meat, but it wasn't easy, so we opted for sandwiches without much success. The staff must have been overheated and had little desire to go out onto the terrace because the feeling of being forgotten was evident at all times. Respecting the reviews and comments, this is not a restaurant we would recommend, by any means.

You do not have a say in how your steak is cooked. Depends on chefs mood but it is usually burnt or well done.

The best meat I've ever eaten... with a truly wide selection to suit everyone's tastes... from small to large cuts of meat... and the staff is truly top-notch... We've been there a couple of times and I have to say I'm very satisfied. We'll definitely be back! The place is gorgeous and located in a central, high-traffic area. I recommend it to everyone!!

We are well versed to a good steak in Manchester, UK, and sadly this fell way short of that. The steak was tasteless, lacked basic seasoning like salt and pepper. My tenderloin has a distinct red colour and the steak hadn’t been rested before being served. The mashed potato again lacked flavour. The kitchen didn’t look the most hygienic… crumbs all over the counter top and food on the floor The women’s toilet was not well maintained and there was no hand soap.

Portions were very small for the price. The quality was average, and the meat was served cold after a long wait, with no other tables occupied.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food is very delicious and service is also on point. The place is clean and neat. While we waited for the food, the waiter surprised us with creative cocktails. We ordered the prawn iberco starter, the entrecote and egg plant salad as a main. Steak was cooked to perfection. Would definitely come back again.

We ordered a steak, bavette, a tartare, a chicken sandwich and a hamburger. The food was okay altogether (although quite pricy) but the service was disappointing given the restaurant’s reputation. The servers seemed cold and distant, it felt like we were bothering them honestly. I’m not quite sure I’d go grab a lunch there again.

This is the first time I've written a restaurant review, but in this case, it was inevitable. The meat was fine, but that's about it. The service was, in a word: horrific. While clearing the table, the waitress let liquids and meat juices drip from the wooden board onto our dishes, which were neatly placed on an empty chair. Luckily, I was able to clean it up in time. Shortly after, she also dropped a steak knife, which hit my arm and watch—luckily not with the sharp edge. This really shouldn't happen, because you have to realize that this could have ended differently. What I find most reprehensible is the lack of a sincere and appropriate apology from the staff. You should be really glad I didn't make a big deal out of it on the spot.

If there’s no soap in the restroom and only one steak left from the entire menu — why are you even open? We came from a nearby city to visit our favorite restaurant, but left disappointed. They served us the only available steak with tired-looking greens on a wooden board. We specifically asked for iced tea without ice for the kids — and still received a glass filled to the top with ice. We’ve been loyal guests for over two years, but the quality and attention to detail have seriously declined.

Food was amazing but pricey, quality of meat was great, however, after eating and paying the bill, we spotted a mouse running around the restaurant. We pointed this out to the staff and to our shock no apology or simple acknowledgement that this would revolt us was given. I feel as if it was any other customer the minimum that would be offered is an apology or some form of acknowledgement or assurance. We searched and seen that mice is a common issue in Amsterdam, but there’s no guarantee that the mice aren’t in the kitchen.

Ate here for the first time, but definitely not the last! Serving such delicious meat dishes simultaneously and hot with a large group of guests is quite an achievement. The chateaubriand was fantastic! The Spanish BAI Gorri wine, a 2018 Reserva, paired beautifully! In short, highly recommended.

The restaurant was invitingly decorated. The service was quick and friendly, but a bit pushy. The starter, as seen in the picture, was truly excellent and gave me hope for the main course. However, the main course couldn't even come close to matching the starter. My girlfriend's chicken sandwich was okay, although the side chips tasted like they'd been open for a week. The rib-eye steak was also very tasty, but the accompanying "salad" was very meager and couldn't really be called a salad. The smashed potato that came as an additional side dish wasn't even remotely hot, let alone warm. Overall, the food was okay, but it wasn't great value for money, and the flavor left a bland aftertaste in some places. It's definitely not a bad restaurant, but the money would be better spent elsewhere, hence the two stars, because overall it wasn't convincing.

Only thing good at the place was the Rose. People were a bit arrogant and the meat was soooo well done.

Unfortunately, our experience here was very bad. We asked for our meat medium rare, but were served a dry and overcooked piece. After complaining, we eventually received a new piece. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there: the waiter spilled a drink on me. That can happen, of course, but what was really disappointing was that it wasn't even removed from the bill. Moreover, the waiter's attitude was unfriendly and grumpy. In short, definitely not worth repeating.

Had dinner here the past two nights and really enjoyed it. The steak was fantastic, the wine selection on point, and the service was excellent. Friendly and attentive. Definitely a place we’ll come back to when in Amsterdam

The worst service I’ve ever seen

Last week we had dinner here for our team outing. From the reservation to the service everything was well organized. They listened to our wishes and the food was delicious!

El camarero masculino fue extremadamente grosero. El trato poco acogedor nos llevó a irnos y luego el camarero y yo tuvimos un altercado. Nos sentamos y el camarero nos trajo agua con mucha actitud. Así que decidimos irnos. Termina cobrándonos por el agua que no acordamos. Acepté pagar y él decidió tirarme el cambio.
