A beautiful, country-style ambiance with great attention to detail, extremely friendly staff, and very delicious and unique dishes. They also offered gluten-free options. We were absolutely thrilled and ate breakfast and dinner here three times in a row. Highly recommended!!! 😍

Super beautiful, classic, fun, and original place! Great view, especially upstairs! Service: initially overlooked by young staff, but in the second half, a man came over, 40+, who really enjoyed his job: great! Cheesecake with a hint of orange was delicious, but the crust was almost impossible to get through.

A cozy spot with all those little rooms at a beautiful spot on the Amstel River. Especially in the summer when there's an outdoor terrace.

This restaurant is such a hidden gem located very close to Spaklerweg station. From outside, it looks like a manor, inside it feels like home. Inner design is cosy and vintage at the same time. You can meet with a small group of friends or your date and sit for hours here. Their menu is enriched with some ever-changing daily options. Servings are elegant and food is tasty. Fish was delicious, combined with some roasted baby potatoes. Wurst was also well paired with an interesting sauce. Overall, you have good food and good time here. Only thing to mention would be the staff is not that much attentive.

I went there one evening this week and ordered a fresh orange juice. What they served had a strange, fizzy taste, so I asked if they had added something to it. They explained that the juice had been made in the morning and might not have been fresh anymore. They apologized and took it back.

This was such a great place to get lunch right on the water! I got maybe one of the best, most flavorful sandwiches I've ever had!

The menu is also available in English. Cakes and small dishes are available until 6:00 PM, and from 6:00 PM onward, something for larger appetites is also available. We had a delicious apple pie with tea or coffee, and the service was very friendly, even though we don't speak the local language. We felt very comfortable.

It's beautiful here. Right on the Amstel River, with a garden and a retro feel. It's like sitting in a friend's dining room. The menu is pleasantly uncluttered, and the food is a bit Dutch, a bit fusion, and a bit vegan. The service was very attentive. Everything was excellent overall, go there.

August 2025, Amongst the modern flats, 't huis aan de Amstel stands still in time. This old beautiful house is a nice cafe-restaurant serving a small menu from morning till diner. Of course sitting in the garden on a beautiful day overlooking the river Amstel. Service is good but you need to seek for their attention. Brood from Menno (always a good choice). For business or pleasure a good place for a get together.

Friendly, peaceful atmosphere on the banks of the Amstel outside and in the middle of the life of the locals who pass by running or cycling... Hearty, delicious meal and fast service

Estuve 8 días en Amsterdam y viví literalmente al lado de "Thuis Aan DE Amstel". Qué debo decir. Estuve allí TODOS los días. El Café es increíblemente bueno, el Servicio son las personas más dulces y agradables que encontrará. (Básicamente todos los Holandeses son así para ser justos : P ) Las tostadas francesas son muy buenas y los huevos revueltos también. El pastel de manzana era muy bueno, yo soy de Viena, conozco buenos dulces. La casa es superdulce y la vista en el amstel es mágica. ¡Tienes que comprobar IT!

The view is very nice sinds you look straight to the Amstel river. Unfortunately food was not so great. We were sitting outside, Surrounded by barking dogs with unconsidered owners that find that normal. We did share with the staff the uncomfortable situation. We left after 15 minutes.

In more and more places/restaurants in Amsterdam it feels a bit like it has become too expensive for what you get in the end, as is the case here. The small amount of yoghurt with granola was filled with two meagre segments of mandarin, 3 pieces of apple and two small pieces of banana. Really 4 bites, not nearly enough to be considered a reasonable breakfast. The fresh juice, again too expensive for the literally 2 sips from a minuscule glass. Still trying to go home with a satisfied feeling, but the banana bread arrived on the table soggy and moldy.... sent that back. We did receive a very nice 2 apple crumble cake from the house, but this was not really special either. Friendly staff but extremely mediocre cuisine. We will not try this for dinner.

I had the bad luck that when I visited, the food and service took so much time that we were almost thinking of leaving.

Het was alweer een tijd geleden dat ik er was. Mooie entourage, altijd attent personeel, lekker eten, dat WAS mijn ervaring. Deze dag was het even anders. Ik kwam rond 16.45 binnen en vrijwel meteen kwam er iemand vragen of ik wat wilde drinken, top, maar ik wilde even wachten op mijn gast. Toen die kwam duurde het ook geen 5 minuten voordat er wat gevraagd werd, fijn. De drankjes lieten lang op zich wachten. Waar er wel tussentijds gevraagd wordt of we gereserveerd hadden vraagt er echter niemand of we de kaart willen zien. Daar vragen we zelf om, ruim een uur later. Gemiste kans! We bestellen een borrelplank met: blokjes kaas, grillworst, olijven en grissini. Althans dat stond er op de kaart. We krijgen geen nootjes en er ligt een berg kleine toastjes op de plank (ipv de grissini). Als ik vraag wat ik daar op mag smeren geeft de dame van de bediening aan dat dat voor de baba ganoush is. Mijn antwoord, dat zit er niet bij. Jawel dat is dát bakje. Uh, dat is mosterd, ik heb het net geproefd. Nee hoor dat is baba ganoush. In het bakje zat letterlijk een bodempje mosterd. Als het wel baba ganoush was geweest, net genoeg voor 4 mini toastjes. De dame bleef volhouden. Ik vroeg haar het dan toch maar even met de keuken te checken en gaf haar het bakje mee. Even later kwam ze terug. Het is inderdaad geen baba ganoush, maar excuses voor haar volharding, dat lukte niet. De toastjes waren voor de grillworst. Die worst stop ik normaal echt zo in mijn mond maar ach je moet wat om je eruit te kletsen. De toastjes waren oud, de nootjes ontbraken, de olijven waren smakeloos en dat voor € 19,50. Zit er een nieuwe kok of had deze zijn dag niet? M.u.v. de dame die niet weet wat ze weg brengt én het verschil tussen mosterd en baba ganoush niet kent en een kok die niet weet wat er op de borrelplank hoort was het overige personeel vriendelijk. Ik ben geneigd ze nog een kans te geven maar dan hoop ik wel weer de oude kwaliteit aan te treffen!

Friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

It was a surprise find! We didn’t make any reservations bc it was last minute decision to eat outside. Luckily we got a table inside, but with an open window. It was quite busy but waiting was reasonably for our foods. I highly recommend the sous vide sukade! I am really impressed! I’ll probably come back with other friends just for it xD

Popped into tHuis aan de Amstel for brunch and it’s a real gem! The smoked salmon frittata was fresh and flavorful, and the homemade apple tart was a perfect sweet finish. The coffee’s on point too. Loved the chill vibe in this old riverside house—feels like a cozy escape from the city, with a cute terrace overlooking the Amstel. Staff were friendly, though service can be slow when it’s busy. Prices are reasonable (~€12-15 for a dish), but book ahead for weekends. 5 stars!

We went for dinner with my toddler and they were very accommodating. My son got to run around in the garden while we waited for food. The view of the river and the old house itself are lovely and unique. The fish with couscous was a highlight. We liked it so much we returned for lunch on a rainy afternoon and sat inside — also very cozy. Had the scrambled eggs, couscous salad, and sausage sandwich. The wait staff were extremely attentive, making sure we got out of there within an hour since they knew we were in a rush. We would come back again and again! Highly recommend.

Best meal I had in Amsterdam in a week. Great atmosphere, the most beautiful sunset (came in a bright spring day), and the food and service were even better. Not fancy, not tourist, I would probably come back if I lived here.

Found this restaurant by chance while having a little stroll along river Amstel and fell in love with the cute house right away. Very nice staff members answered my questions about opening hours at Easter and if reservations are necessary. Luckily, I could drop in twice without reservation and enjoyed the best meals during my 10 day-holiday in Amsterdam. Both the white fish (similar to cod) and the Risotto were superb! In fact, it was my first time ever to have risotto "al dente" - neither overcooked nor still hard inside. LOVED it so much! Next time in Amsterdam, I will stay again in Amstelkwartier to be as close as possible to this culinary gem ❤️🩷❤️.

Such a cozy place! The staff is so friendly and the menu is perfect! The dishes are remarkably unique and the chef has great attention to detail with flavors. The catch of the day special, which happened to be sea bass, was so tasty that I want to visit Amsterdam again just to go to this place again.

Hasta ahora, muy bien. ¡Pero las sillas son terribles! Duro e incómodo. Tuve que tomar una de las mantas del frío para sentarme sin dolor. El servicio era bueno, sin embargo, así como las bebidas y la comida. Unos días después hacía mucho más frío, pero decidí ir de nuevo con un amigo, esperando que las sillas de dentro estuvieran mejor. No lo eran. Tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo antes de poder pedir nuestro té. Este lugar tiene un lado muy agradable y uno que es menos bueno. +Maravillosa casa antigua situada cerca del Amstel +a veces el servicio es bueno +La comida está bien - sillas cómodas fuera y dentro - es posible que tenga que esperar mucho tiempo para el servicio

Excellent food, service, location and beer!

My wife and I were alone on Sunday. There were a lot of people, but there was a place for us. We took 2 teas and 2 business lunches. The price of one business lunch is 23.80 euros. It includes the soup of the day (we had vegetable soup based on zucchini) as well as risotto with mushrooms. Everything is tasty and satisfying.

The authentic and very pleasant place, with views of the river. The food is also delicious, homemade.

What a particularly beautiful and hospitable experience! I gave a training at tHuis aan de Amstel and I will definitely do that again: authentic building and it really feels like home, the hospitality here is top notch (the employees clearly enjoy their work and that makes me happy). In particular Jan-Willem (warm welcome, guidance to the training room) and also Max (came several times to check whether everything was in order and provided lunch for us). That lunch was also really good and delicious! ...all homemade. This also applies to the treats during coffee breaks. Thanks team tHuis aan de Amstel and see you next time!

Nice location overlooking the Amstel with a nostalgic vibe. Lunch menu is good but nothing special nor fancy. Extra attractive on sunny days when you can sit on the terrace.

It all looks nice, but the service was not good (they forgot our order twice) and we didn't think the sandwiches were enough for lunch. So we added something sweet.

I’ve had some drinks with friends. - The atmosphere inside is amazing, the architecture and decorations are very aesthetic and elegant. I’d say it’s perfect for a date, but also simply for some chit chat with friends and such. - The staff was kind - Prices are on average - The location is great especially in summer, because it sits just right on the Amstel and in front of park Somerlust and during summer days you can sit in the terrace in front which is also very pretty. Definitely recommend this place if you want some drinks on the Amstel area around the Amstel station and surroundings.

Tolles kleines Lokal mit typisch holländischen Gerichten, wir kamen erst gegen 21Uhr nach unserer Ankunft und wurden toll bewirtet, Service, Essen und Ambiente sehr schön, wir hatten Fisch mit Muscheln uns Scampi, sehr zu empfehlen
