Really nice food and fantastic cocktails

Delicious food, great service, sometimes very busy.

I had to wait over an hour for a couple of gyozas because something had gone wrong in the kitchen. When I paid, the waitress added €10. It was also way too expensive for what you get. Comparable a la carte Asian restaurants are much cheaper.

I found the 10 course menu mediocre

The restaurant looks cozy, but we only had English-speaking staff. We opted for the 10-course dinner, and it's highly recommended! The only downside was that all the meat dishes were quite dry.

Well, now I know Asian cuisine very well. We had high expectations for all kinds of dishes with full flavors. Or just beautifully subtle like sushi. Too bad the bammer… bought a 10-course thing. flat taste, almost nothing was really tasty, all below average. Except for the soup (pumpkin soup), which was brilliant! And there should be a law that protects Rendang. Everyone puts Rendang on the menu and then doesn't know what they are doing. Like here unfortunately. They have earned the predicate quite tasty stew with beef and some Indian spices. But nothing more. Many young foreign people in the service. Friendly and chaotic. If you let people work for you, they also deserve that you help them do their job well. With some attention and training, it often works out quickly (better…). Then you also have more turnover (empty glasses deserve a question…). We were sitting on the left in front of the kitchen. No fun there except for our company… Anyway, once and never again. Too bad! Oh yeah, I wouldn't order the pinot grigio...

Vi åt deras 10-rätters meny och det var riktigt bra. En mix av soppa, maki rolls, dumplings mm. Allt förutom efterrätten var mycket bra, men då man ätit 8 olika asiatiska rätter så passade inte cheesecake och chokladkaka in som efterrätt så det drar ner betyget lite.

I tried the 10-course meal at Tiger Mama, and while most dishes ranged from okay to good, none truly stood out as exceptional or a 10/10. The biggest downside was the long waiting time between courses—the entire experience stretched to around 4 hours, and I eventually gave up on the last course. On the bright side, the cocktails were fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The staff were incredibly friendly and handled requests with great care and attention, which made the experience more pleasant. Overall, it’s a nice spot with great service and drinks, but if you’re considering the 10-course meal, be prepared for a long wait.

The food wasn't very tasty and I got sick the next day. No second time here for me. The surprise menu was also not tasty at all.

Cute eatery with sweet, well-meaning staff. But yes, the food is lousy (I don't know whether the chef has any training at all or whether he also cooks 'by feeling' here, just like for his/her student house), the service is English-speaking with a serious lack of knowledge of the English language and the bill is far too high if you compare it to the low level of a hot meal at a student association in Utrecht. I would rather choose Anan or Carmel Market in this beautiful city.

Very disappointing food. If you serve cassava chips with peanut sauce as a course for a high price, it is difficult to be taken seriously... it really used to be better!!!

Excellent food, nice variety in the 10 course menu. There was sometimes a lot of time between the different courses, we sat at the table for more than 4 hours. Atmosphere was fine, unfortunately close to the door which was sometimes cold. Service was great!

We waited a very long time for each course (we had to ask for it ourselves), overpriced for what you get, no special dishes (prawn crackers with satay sauce as an entree). Seemingly friendly staff, but certainly not worth repeating.

Zeer teleurstellende ervaring bij Tiger Mama Utrecht: Twijfelachtige kwaliteit van de ingrediënten. ⭐☆☆☆☆ Gisteren heb ik bij Tiger Mama Utrecht sushi besteld, waaronder zalm sushi. Helaas was de zalm absoluut niet vers, wat direct opviel door de vreemde paarse verkleuring. Bij de eerste hap merkte ik al dat de smaak anders was dan normaal. Ik heb dit gemeld bij het personeel, maar kreeg "sorry" te horen. Aangezien ik al wat van de sushi had gegeten, heb ik aangegeven dat ik hoopte niet ziek te worden. De reactie van de kok was echter : "Van niet verse zalm kun je niet ziek worden." Dit is natuurlijk onacceptabel en absoluut niet geruststellend. Ze gaven aan een nieuwe te willen maken maar daar waren we al niet meer voor te porren. Ze hebben het van de bon weggehaald, maar ik had dit liever niet genuttigd. Op de foto zie je kleur verschil van de zalm in de rol en de zalm die op dat moment erop is gedaan. We vonden het al heel erg snel dat we het gerecht kregen en hadden al twijfels of het op dat moment was gemaakt. Ik verwacht van een restaurant dat ze voedselveiligheid serieus nemen en dit soort situaties met meer zorg behandelen. Dit was mijn laatste bezoek aan Tiger Mama.

El servicio era muy lento, probablemente tomó 30 minutos incluso para obtener un menú o pedir bebidas. Teníamos (entre 3 ) 2 del menú degustador de 10 platos, más otros 2 platos. La comida tardaba en llegar, algunos platos que deberían haber estado calientes / calientes todavía estaban fríos. 10 course surprise menu. The first drink was not even on the table and the courses were served quickly. 1 course a bowl of prawn crackers with satay sauce and had to be shared with 5 people. Last 2 courses, dessert came in one go. Super small piece of tasteless cheesecake and something that passed for a brownie. Then, in a still fairly full shop, at half past 10.30 the last round was rushed through and the bill arrived quickly, without us asking for it. Staff were friendly. The only reason I'm still so generous with the stars.

Very satisfied! Absolutely delicious food. I had the 10 course menu. A very diverse menu, from smaller snacks such as sushi to a curry with rice. Everything looked and tasted good. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

Was at Tiger Mamma Voorstraat for dinner on a Thursday in August. The 10 course menu was delicious, better than expected. Service was friendly. Nicely decorated. I'll be back!

We opted for the 6 course menu for 37 euros per person instead of the 10 courses for 39 euros. We had discussed our choice with the waiter and the expectation of getting something "more" (quantity and quality) per course. We like everything, so (normally) we like to be surprised. The first dish was a bit of a boring spring roll and then a soup. The sushi was the biggest disappointment; no salmon or tuna, but of the 4 pieces per person, something with carrot and something with cucumber. Again a bit boring. Since we were getting more and more hungry, we ordered more chicken pieces and croquettes... The dim sum and curry we got later was tasty. The dessert was not to our taste (spekkoek and a piece of carrot cake (?) tasting like Sinterklaas meringues), but tastes differ. All in all, we found the food disappointing. The sushi in particular was a real disappointment. The people in the service were friendly.

Had a drink at this place with my girlfriend last night. It was nicely decorated with lights, etc. But when I got home I saw that no less than €8 (!!) had been debited for just two bottles of 220ml ice tea. Sorry, but that's really too much for me. Closes at 11 p.m., but at 10:15 p.m. we were told that the last drink had to be ordered. We just decided to give it up.

Nice tent and cozy sitting on the terrace, but I personally thought the map was a bit sparse. The corridors were not available, that may have been the case. Staff very friendly.

This was our second time here, we enjoyed it last time, but we arrived a little later on a busy evening so we sometimes had to wait a little longer. Now we were quite early on a Tuesday and sat outside on the terrace. Went for the 10 courses again and it was all very tasty, somewhat smaller portions but at the end a bao bun/curry so we were full. The service was also very good today and we quickly had a new drink, Asahi beer on tap and several Asian-inspired cocktails, my favorite was the Thai Basil Smash.

Delicious, lots of it and versatile. Generous cocktails and mixes. Attentive, reasonably fast service, quite impressive with all those different dishes. Relaxed Asia atmosphere.

10 course menu was fantastic. Location and atmosphere were great. Service very friendly. And the most important thing was the food. Stoneware! Gin and tonic cocktail was very good. Alcohol free. I can't drink alcohol. This is a good substitute!

Very nice, cute looking place. Unfortunately the staff was incredibly slow, luckily they were nice, but it was so hard to get a waiter to come to your table, there seemed to be none? Maybe just understaffed.. . And we arrived at 20.30 so I don't want to imagine what it's like during rush hour. Food was good, but the springrolls for example were very bland with little to no taste. It's definitely a nice place to visit. Maybe we were just unlucky.

At Tiger Mama we ordered a 10-course menu for €35 per person. The first dish was a bowl of sugar snap peas for two people. The second dish was a salty broth with three cubes of tofu, some bean sprouts and lots of water. In general the dishes were mediocre and the portions small. The toilet was not tidy. And you have to wait a very long time, 45 minutes per dish Macdonalds would have been better

It took a very long time to get our cocktails and we had to ask for them several times, but the staff was super friendly and the food was very tasty.

Nice place and cute staff. But i recommend to service all the orders together. Not one by one in 15 minutes difference.

We are familiar with Tiger mama. We have been here a number of times for the 10 course menu. Now for my birthday, fun with the family. What a disappointing evening. 3 courses in 2 hours is really too long. 2nd bottle of water had to wait 20 minutes, same with 2nd bottle of wine. After my comment about why it all took so long, the 3 subsequent courses were picked up quickly, which was nice. Unfortunately, the last courses took too long in my opinion. It's a pity that people don't communicate that it will take a little longer, I also think the menu was not innovative enough 3 years ago and now there is little change, a pity a disappointing evening on my birthday. Management team get started!

Beautifully decorated restaurant, with both an outdoor terrace on the street and in the courtyard. It is nicely decorated inside. The start was not very good. We were kindly shown to our reserved places. Then we sat at a wobbly table (which was helped later) and the plate was still dirty from the previous customer given the dried up grains of rice still on it. We opted for the 10-course surprise menu. With each dish you were supposed to be told what you were getting, but from one waitress we only heard "soup" or "enjoy" after she put a dish on the table and walked away. It was nice that there was a lot of variety in the dishes within the menu, which is why the 4 stars. The soup was quite spicy. The flavors of the other dishes were less pronounced

Delicious Asian 10 course dinner. Every course was tasty without being really special. The service did its best, but the time between courses was really too long, with 3 and a half people sitting on chairs that were not really made for that. We had the time, but several people were dissatisfied.

What a nice tent tasty snacks price quality is top had via social deal 10 courses for 25 euros bargain even if I normally say 34 euros and in the weekend 37 euros I think the soup was nice and spicy and the pandan mouse for dessert with pandan spekkoek very tasty together with the date oreo cake

Went to Tiger Mama with high expectations as it is in the top 10 of the Netherlands in terms of sushi restaurants. Unfortunately it was disappointing. We ordered a 10 course menu, but this later turned out to be a 6 course menu. Operating error. Dietary requirements were clearly requested, but one time went wrong, which was noticed and resolved by the staff. Received 4 courses in the first 2.5 hours, the waiter indicated that the kitchen was very slow today. The food itself was fine, but did not live up to what we had hoped for.

Heerlijk kleine gerechtjes en leuke inrichting, maar daar is dan ook alles mee gezegd! 4 uur binnen gezeten, maar uiteindelijk zonder toetje naar huis gegaan (wel voor betaald) omdat het zo lang duurde. Het restaurant was vrij rustig met gasten maar wel voldoende personeel, bijzonder dat het opscheppen van 3 bolletjes ijs dan een dik uur duurt 😂

10 course dinner highly recommended!! Delicious food :) Kumquat Gin-Tonic is also recommended. They kept a close eye on when we finished one course to serve the next. Drinks took a bit long.

Good atmosphere. Good food. Nice service. The restaurant was completely full and yet the dishes from the 10 course menu arrived quickly. No haute cuisine but just a nice evening out.

You better not eat here. I have never written a bad review for a restaurant, but I have to say this. The prices are far too high for the incredibly small portions you get with the 10 course menu, so we were all still hungry when we left. There was +/- 30 minutes between each dish, so we ended up spending 3.5 hours in the restaurant. One of the dishes was a red curry. We were given two small bowls of rice to share between the five of us (making the rice to curry ratio about 1:7) and when we asked for more rice we were refused. The service is poor, my dietary restrictions were not listened to and it is very expensive. The only positive point is that the location is central and the interior of the building is attractive. All in all an absurd experience for all of us. There are tons of better Asian restaurants you can try!

We ordered the 10 course tasting menu because on sundays the 10 course menu is the same price as the 6 course menu. They did accommodate a vegan diet as well. But the food took forever to come out. We got two of the 10 courses in one hour, which was just edamame and spring rolls. We told them that we’d like to get the meals a bit faster and it made little difference. We were there for 3 hours and I mean the food is good but it’s nothing incredible or a very fine dining restaurant so to have to sit there for 3 hours felt like too much and definitely not worth the price we paid.

Ordered 10 course menu at 6:00 PM. Received 2 courses in the first hour, the first of which was only edamame beans. At one point we indicated that we wanted something faster, but everyone sat at the table with an unpleasant feeling of hunger. The quality was nothing special unfortunately. The sushi was good, but you only get 2 pieces per person in the 10 course menu. I left with my group at 9:00 PM, all with half-filled stomachs. And that for no less than 34.50 euros per person. Definitely not worth repeating. Would certainly not advise people to eat here.

We sat on the terrace which has a nice atmosphere and seemed more lively than the interior. As for the food, the sushi was decent but the server mixed up our order and brought us a wrong dish. We also ordered gyoza, which took a long time to arrive - some 15-20 minutes after the rest of the meal. And we had to ask twice for it. The service was friendly but not so competent. Aside from the order mix up, we were served sushi with no soya sauce or dishes and had to ask for it. Then when our belated fourth dish came the server didn’t clear the table of the sushi serving dishes. He just put the gyoza on top of them and left. Although the food wasn’t bad, I wouldn’t rush back here on account of the service which really could have been better.

We ordered a so-called 10 course menu, it was very disappointing; mainly small cold dishes with little or no taste. You could choose from two types of red wine, all very basic. The audience consisted mainly of 20 year old students. It was a kind of glorified canteen. Never again 🥴

Had a wonderful evening on Thursday evening. The 10-course small dishes are highly recommended because they are tasty and because you have time for good conversations and only have to order your drink. Everything went smoothly and excellently without being rushed.

Nice place to eat. Good food, very original concept. The service was also great. Pricewise its definitely one of the more expensive restaurants in this part of tow. The downside was that it was very full, and the acoustics are horrible. Which made conversation a bit difficult.

The welcome was friendly and we thought the decor was very nice. On recommendation, we took the 10-course dinner for a pleasant evening of dining. The Tiger Mama Martini cocktail was very tasty and all the dishes we ate were also very tasty. More than enough too. Some points for improvement: the time between courses was sometimes very long. Dim Sum are delicious, really beautiful pallet of taste and warm feeling in your belly. The sushi mix platter we had was really simple, small pieces, ok in taste but not to recommend. But the cocktails oh my god; was excellent!!!! The setting is beautiful. Very friendly waitress but very chaotic in managing the tables.

When we made a reservation by telephone upon arrival, it suddenly turned out that another couple had taken the table. And there was no room at that time or we could try again in half an hour. We decided to return after half an hour as it was already 8:00 PM and we didn't want to go looking otherwise on a Saturday evening. Fortunately, half an hour later there was room, sitting in the covered backyard. Very cozy place and well heated by the heaters. Tiger Mama's 10 courses. Had very nice and tasty dishes. We were politely asked in advance if there were any details. My partner got a little less fish and got a nice alternative. A very nice young man and lady served us all evening long. The menu can be scanned via a QR code, this affects the atmosphere in a restaurant quite a bit when everyone is looking at their phone at their company, but I also understand it since they change the menu every 6 weeks

Unfortunately, the quality of the food was very disappointing, it had little taste. Drinks took a long time to arrive and it's not that cozy anymore. First room Lacks furnishings. The 10 course concept is nice, but the execution is not worth it for us. Shame

Prepare for a night of culinary edging as you wait 30 minutes between morsels of food. We only just made it home before turning into pumpkins at midnight. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't worth 37 euros per person. Ditto for the 11 euro cocktails. It's a no from me *sad dab*

Food was great, cocktails were excellent. It gets busy but the service is still good. Go for the 10 course meal with some cocktails and wine, you won't regret it. You do need a few hours to get through it of course. Price is very reasonable.

Erg mooi restaurant. Eten is ook lekker. Wij hadden gekozen voor de 10 gangen waarbij we 10 wat kleinere gerechten kregen. Echt perfect qua hoeveelheid.

I went to Tiger Mama on a Wednesday night with 8 friends, had the 10 course menu, wine, water, coffee and have nothing but praise! The food was delicious and spicy, very beautifully presented, good portions, fresh tasty ingredients - and served at just the right intervals by helpful and competent waiters and waitresses. A very pleasant experience at a very decent prize considering the ingredients, dishes and portion size. A bit uncomfy with backless benches for a 10 course meal but there were also lots of ordinary chairs and tables.

Wir haben zu dritt das 10 Gänge Menü ausgewählt. Es war absolut fantastisch. Jeder Gang war sehr lecker und zum Teil extrem raffiniert. Die Cocktails die es dazu gab waren auch ausserordentlich lecker. Wir empfehlen es gerne weiter!

My boyfriend and me had been wanting to go to this place for a while but we were a bit disappointed. Atmosphere is nice. Cosy seatings and nice lighting. Unfortunately the food really disappointed. Quite expensive and very mediocre sushi in our opinion. Bland flavours in the dimsum. Went to Kyushu afterwards for some great sushi :)

We came with a group of friends, the food was a bad mixture between simple Asian mostly European copycats. And we waited terrible long for the food.

We hebben het 10 gangen menu gekozen. Enkele gerechten zeker goed van smaak en mooi geserveerd, sommige gerechten waren van mindere kwaliteit, de rendang vonden we te zout en niet zacht genoeg. Afsluiting lyche cheesecake erg lekker.

Leuk Aziatisch restaurant met een gezellige uitstraling, wij hebben op het terras gezeten. We kozen voor het 10 gangen menu en waren aangenaam verrast. Het waren zeer bijzondere, smaakvolle en uiteenlopende Aziatische gerechtjes. De bordjes waren mooi opgemaakt en de smaken zijn erg divers. Ik heb een allergie en dat is altijd even spannend, maar er werd echt goed rekening mee gehouden. Wij gaan regelmatig uit eten en zijn behoorlijk verwend maar waren hier echt aangenaam verrast. De bediening was vriendelijk en toen we aangaven dat er wel iets meer tijd tussen de gerechtjes mocht zitten, werd daar direct gehoor aan gegeven. Wij raden aan om op je gemak de tijd te nemen om hier te gaan eten. Want het is een avond vullende belevenis. Mochten we nog een keer naar Utrecht gaan zouden we zeker hier nog een keer gaan eten.

restaurant zit op een handige plek, heeft stiekem best wat tafels en is als zodanig een solide keuze voor de zoekende eter. het menu biedt een dwarsdoorsnede aan kleine aziatische gerechten. het is altijd een beetje gokken of een 10-gangen diner een culinaire highlight reel is of vooral een handige manier om gasten lang te laten tafelen - en te laten drinken. kwam niet helemaal tot een definitief antwoord bij tiger mama, maar echt lekker was het wat mij betreft niet. ondanks goede service en prima sfeer waren alle 10 de gerechten onbeduidend, vaak te zout en daardoor weinig finesse in smaak. asian fusion als stijl is idealiter verrassend, maar hier blijft het hangen in middelmaat. een portie edamame als gerecht tellen is sowieso al valsspelen. ik vermoed dat de sushi a la carte hier de beste keuze is.
