I love these restaurants, delicious food and good service.

My favorite place in leidsche rijn, food is amazing, portions are big (a bit too big for me 😅) and the staff is always very nice and helpful.

Ramen Miso Pork Tonsu (18€) very tasty, the place is also very nicely decorated, it's definitely worth checking this place out, the only thing I would change is the portion size, I think it's a bit small but apart from that everything is fine, I will definitely come back here ☺️

Once great, but they recently moved, jacked up the prices and removed ingredients. It’s like a virus it seems: all my favorite Dutch restaurants are ‘diluting’.

What a fantastic experience at this place on Brusselplein. Everything served looked incredibly well-presented and appetizing. The takoyaki, in particular, with that fine layer of bonito flakes on top, was a real highlight. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the portions were just right. We had a delicious meal here and will definitely be back soon for another round.

The food was good overall. We ordered the regular fried chicken, the spicy fried chicken, and the honey butter chicken. All three were tasty, with the spicy chicken being the standout of the meal. We also tried the gyoza. The regular gyoza was decent, but I wouldn't recommend the vegetable version. The atmosphere could definitely be improved. The restrooms were not clean, and the dining area was quite warm and lacked proper ventilation, making it uncomfortable during the meal. The service was the biggest disappointment. The staff seemed completely indifferent to their guests. Once our food was served, no one checked on us to see if we needed anything—not an extra napkin, more sauce, or another drink. It genuinely felt like they didn't care whether we had a good experience or not. Another frustrating point is that they don't offer tap water at all. I understand charging a small fee for it, but refusing to serve tap water altogether feels unnecessarily unfriendly and leaves a poor impression. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the poor service and lack of hospitality mean I wouldn't be in a hurry to return.

We had the Pork Miso Ramen with sweet and spicy fried chicken. It was super duper extra delicious. Food was fast and good and the waiter was sweet. If I could add anything to the team, maybe change the music style it’s not really my preferred dinner music taste. Thankfully the food was too good to really notice it.

This is one of my regular spots in Utrecht. I always come here with great pleasure. The ramen is incredibly delicious, but the curry and snacks are also highly recommended. The service is super fast and friendly, and the food isn't expensive. See you next time!!

The food was good, but the overall experience was unacceptable. We saw a mouse running inside the restaurant and immediately informed the staff. Unfortunately, they seemed indifferent and did not take the matter seriously. Hygiene and food safety should be a top priority in any restaurant, and the lack of concern shown by the staff was alarming. Because of this, we would not return and cannot recommend this place to others.

We both had Ramen. I had the chicken and my wife the vegetarian. The broth was delicious and we enjoyed it. We shared a pot of genmai tea to go with it. The staff was friendly and we definitely recommend this place.

Nice and chill place to eat a good ramen.

After having eaten excellent Ramen the first time, we went for a light lunch this time and ordered KFC, Korean fried chicken, and a number of side dishes. Unfortunately, that was a disappointment. The original KFC was bland; the Takoyaki (octopus balls) were undercooked on the inside; the minimal amount of octopus was rubbery and impossible to chew. We sent this back and were told that it was one of the few ready-made products. Now, the waiter, who was otherwise very friendly, was lying a bit, because the shrimp, yakitori, and gyozas we also ordered were also ready-made products. We left the pickled cucumber untouched because, due to the large amount of raw garlic, it just wasn't tasty. It is not a problem if you sometimes use ready-made products. But make sure you choose good quality. So I would come back for the ramen, but I would ignore the rest of the menu. Oh yes, the Kimchi was tasty; not homemade either, but at least an example of a good ready-made product.

Nice music and beautiful decor create a good atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the food delicious. The only thing I found disappointing was that some signs and the menu were only in English, which made it harder to understand.

Holy moly, what a wonderful place! This was so good I could drink seven cups of that broth made with something I don't know what it is, but it was so delicious! Good heavens, what a fantastic spot! And it's not expensive, too! It's absolutely delicious. I would definitely have my nephew's First Communion here.

I'm not a big fan of this cuisine, but based on what my companions said, the food was excellent. The service, however, was very poor. The waitress disappeared, and it took a long time to get the bill. A waitress who was eating finally got up to serve us.

A decent kitchen with a small menu, but incredibly noisy. The staff is constantly throwing things around. Chairs are also pushed or set down roughly. It's incredibly uninviting, a real mess.

Leidsche Rijn remains a bit of a challenge when it comes to atmosphere. But here you can get a great meal for a very reasonable price. The staff were very helpful and even put a heater on for my mother. We had a curry with rice and prawns and the vegetarian ramen. The food isn't particularly creative, but it's okay. A bit on the salty side.

We got food poisoning from the miso pork. The service was good, though.

The ramen looked promising, but that’s where it ended. The noodles were rubbery, the egg cold, and the chicken very underwhelming, the whole dish felt rushed, almost like it came straight from a microwave. The gyoza were burnt and oddly served after the ramen instead of before. The restrooms were dirty and uninviting. ✔️The only real plus was the friendly service, which clearly has potential. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place

My favorite ramen place in Utrecht! The food is amazing, both the ramen and the curry (I have the vegetarian options and my husband the ramen with pork). The stuff is really fast and the place has a cozy japanese vibe. Highly recommend it.

Nice food, nice Boba tea and very delicious ice cream. Staff is very friendly. My daughter is 9. We go there very often. It is our favourite place for our best mother daughter moments.

Had Korean fried Chicken with a side of kimchi. My girlfriend had a vegetarian Katsu. Food looked great, people were friendly, and it was good value for the price. Will definitely come back

Great ramen restaurant. We chose the miso ramen, and the soup was delicious. The seating is comfortable, and the staff is friendly. A good spot for a quick dinner, perhaps before or after the movies, and at a reasonable price. The Korean fried chicken was also delicious: just right, not too greasy or oily. I definitely recommend this place!

Maybe I'm just not knowledgeable enough about ramen to understand why this isn't a 5 star establishment, but to me this was a 5 star experience. Amazing ramen with super tasty broth! I didn't try any other items, though.

Finally, a ramen spot worth raving about! It’s been ages since I truly enjoyed ramen, but this place brought the magic back. The broth was rich, the noodles perfect—and the original Korean chicken super addictive. Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. I’ll definitely be back.

I looooove this place. Not too many dish choices but theres definitely something for everyone and everything is so delicious. I always get ramen and most certainly the takoyaki and korean honey butter fried chicken. I visit umai every time im in Utrecht.

Big place but not really a Ramen atmosphere.... I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and my companion a Shoyu Ramen, these cost 17.50 each which is a bit on the expensive side, even in the heart of Amsterdam you can find them for less. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen disappointed me, this was mainly due to the broth, the toppings were very good (except for the egg which was hard-boiled, cold and very white). The char su pork belly was almost perfect.... Only the broth was very disappointing, it could have been more pronounced and much spicier!! The noodles were very good, a real waste of broth, which was also the case with the shoyu version! Shame

Excellent ramen that brings me back to our trip to Japan

This is my 4th time here and damn Tonkutsu ramen is so good 🥹❤️ ​​I had the Shoyu Pork Tonkutsu ramen. I'll order some kimchi and the cucumbers... then I'll be nice and full.

It took an insanely long time. The food was mediocre. €17.50 for ramen and €15 for a curry, which was simply from a S&B box. One small carrot, three baby potatoes.

Ramen had too little broth & taste was blend. There was no fully vegan one. I ordered vegetarian & took egg out.

Spicy sweet chicken and the garlic fried chicken was good! The unagi don rice was okay, it was quite dry but the miso souo balanced it. The spicy pork tonkatsu was not that spicy and had more garlic flavour but you can add more chili oil so it was ok. Nice restaurant vibe and suitable for large groups

it’s combined with a boba place and small asian store , i got spicy pork tonkotsu ramen which was okay but the flavor broth are not strong, there was no spicyness at all. the korean fried chicken was soo good (garlic soy). the unagi rice was great. suitable for all groups, my group was of 9 and they had fast service

Shall not be fool with 4.6⭐review! I was expecting a decent 4.6 stars ramen, but it turn out to be no more than a 3 stars. The spicy ramen is not spicy at all. The unagi don (eel with rice) was made with jasmin rice rather than with Japanese rice which is what you are expecting from a "Japanese" restaurant. If you arr looking for an okay ramen this is your place, but definitely not a 4.6. The restaurant have some kind of prize winning lucky draw if you review the place. I did not participate, but I think that's how they get their high reviews.

Very tasty food, good yakitori and kaarage, the Katsu curry chicken is highly recommended!

They refuse to serve a glass of tap water to my son of 3 year and after spending more 50€ in a dinner. I hope we all decide not to go to restaurant where water is just a business.

I don't understand why this restaurant has 4.6 stars. Food was okay, nothing special. Spicy pork ramen was not spicy at all and pork in the ramen was a bit dry and tasted a bit old, broth was a bit bland but otherwise fine. Unagi Don was served on jasmin rice. Sweet and spicy Korean chicken was not sweet and a little spicy (the chicken was juicy though).

I've eaten at Umai Ramen several times. The food is delicious and the service is fast. The restaurant is spacious and attractively decorated with plenty of seating. There's a small shop next door with Asian products. The octopus balls and the Miso Pork Tonkotsu are absolute must-trys!

Great flavor, big portions :) The ramen bowl was a lot of food for my wife so next time we will ask one bowl and share. I can't have enough takoyakis, I highly recommend it.

We went here on a Sunday afternoon after reading positive reviews on Google. I respect everyone’s opinion, but I honestly don’t understand why people have left such high scores for this place. Granted; the decor of the restaurant is nice, and we liked the shared space concept with the bubble tea place and grocery store on either side, but let’s talk about the food; We ordered our ramen and the speed with which it was served to us, can only mean that this was not freshly made to order. The fact that we were the very first (and only) customers there makes the serving speed even more suspicious. The flavor of the ramen confirmed our suspicions; the soup was off; it had a weird taste and it wasn’t satisfying at all; mostly salty. The bamboo shoots were clearly from a can and had a terrible flavor. The pork was ‘porky’, giving that strange flavor when pork isn’t very fresh. Really the only thing that was fresh was the tuft of herbs they put on top. Afterwards we were left with a metallic taste in our mouths and we were very thirsty, indicating that a lot of msg/salt was used. Good ramen gives you a satisfying, wholesome and cleansing feeling when it’s done right. This gave us a bloated, almost nauseating feeling. About the service; mediocre. The Asian lady that took our order was clearly distracted by something while she was at our table and was quarreling with other staff throughout our meal. Finally, for 2 bowls of ramen of this quality and one (small) pot of tea we thought that €45 was very steep. As much as we were excited to try this place out, we will not be returning here.

It's been about the 10th time I've visited Umai Ramen. I've always recommended it to others, but I've never left a positive review. The ramen soup is always delicious, and the service is always friendly. There's a very cozy atmosphere. Today we were there and asked if we could order some bubble tea from next door. They were closing in three minutes, but they were willing to wait a bit for us while they cleaned. The service arranged it. Fantastic!

The staff at this place are thoroughly knowledgeable about how the ingredients they use are sourced and prepared. That alone is already a good reason to visit. Restaurants like this are hard to find in the Netherlands. Especially, East Asian restaurants (Japanese, Korean, some Chinese) in Netherlands have often lowered my expectations over time. But this one raised it again!! We ordered the veggie curry and ramen, and asked if they could remove the soya egg from the ramen. The staff immediately asked we were vegan, then explained that their ramen noodles contain egg but they can change with udon noodles, without any extra charge!!! That kind of care and clarity was so impressive. Our food arrived quite fast, and every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh. Aside from the bamboo, all the vegetables were clearly fresh, with a delightful crunch that proved they were cooked straight from the fresh condition. Each bite was like a symphony of crisp, vegetable cell walls bursting in harmony, and this makes ramen more enjoyable. The soy-based broth was also clean and satisfying, leaving no lingering aftertaste in my mouth, thirty minutes after the meal. We’re happy to have discovered another must-visit restaurant in Utrecht. I wish we’ll meet the same staff again when we revisit! (Lastly, to many Japanese restaurants in the Netherlands—that try to cover old and unfresh vegetables with heavy Chinese spices and pepper: Please visit here and learn something. If your ingredients are fresh and you know with what you're cooking, it can be very tasty without using too many spices :) 한국의 저렴한 일식당정도의 맛은 나와요! 무엇보다 제가 갔을때는 버섯과 야채류가 엄청 신선했어요. 네덜란드의 식중독 걱정하게 만드는 정체불명의 이상한 일식당 고르지 말구 여기 오세요. 다만 한식은 잘 모르겠습니다.
