It was a very sweet little café. They have very delicious food. The sandwiches and pancakes were incredible good. The owners/staff were so kind.

The open Sandwiches and Flat White were really good. The staff/owners and atmosphere were lovely too.

If you can look past the mood of the staff, it's a really nice place. The food was delicious. Many orders were thoroughly reviewed and assessed, and people sighed about specific customers sitting further away. My order was also discussed, followed by "I hope she can't hear this by the way!" (They were right, by the way: the decaf coffee tasted like water.) Luckily, the other waitress was really nice and helpful. But next time I'll walk a street further.

Hygiene Concerns! I recently dined at Tootje Cafe and had a mixed experience. While the food was good and the staff was friendly, I was disappointed to see a bottle of cleaning products and a dirty rag left on the table where the visitors were sitting. It made me question the restaurant’s hygiene practices. Not only is this unappetizing, but it’s also a health concern. Cleaning supplies should be stored properly, and rags should not be left where customers eat. I hope the management takes better care of these details because the food and atmosphere were otherwise enjoyable. A little more attention to cleanliness could make this a great dining spot.

this is our favourite cafe in the world - literally! we travel to leiden every two or three months, because we love the city, and we fell in love with your wonderful cafe! we go there almost every day when we're in the NL. the food and drinks all are delicious and we tried every sort of chai latte (kardamom rocks!, the others too ;)) tot ziens in de zomer :)

This is the most comfy coffee place that I’ve been in Leiden. Actually in whole Nederland. There are many options to choose there. I recommend the dirty chai latte and the apple pie. Also, the croassaint is a good option to choose.

Update: Now in English. I would like to share my constructive review of this place. While the food was of good quality (normal/small portions) and the price was average, there are areas that could be improved. The lunch menu could be expanded, as the current options feel more suited for a pre-lunch or brunch. Regarding the restaurant itself, I strongly recommend that the owner and staff reconsider the minimum level of cleanliness required. There was visible dust on the shelves, windows (which were old and almost broken), chairs, and tables. Additionally, the menu and floor were noticeably dirty, covered in some kind of syrup or liquid. We were shocked when my friend received a dirty straw with her drink. Thankfully, the staff replaced it when we requested a new one. How is it even possible that the waitress is preparing food at the same time as serving coffee customers, without even washing her hands in between? I hope this review helps improve the place.

Very nice cafe! Great for some breakfast or lunch! I had the breakfast combo and have to say that everything was of good quality, I especially enjoyed the moccachino & croissant. The atmosphere within the place is welcoming and they play nice music, gotta come back for the apple pie as it looked delicious.

Chocolate and pralines to fall in love with. We stocked up on chocolates for our vacation here. They were so delicious. Absolutely recommended. But also the service. Loving ladies who guided us through the huge selection and took a lot of time. Top quality and service!

Last week we had lunch at Tootje's. Mannn, what a delicious meal we had! We opted for the Chorito sandwich and the Hangover toasted sandwich (I almost wish I had a hangover every day if I could eat a sandwich like that...) and for our two-year-old daughter a farmer's yoghurt with fruit. The owner thought along with us and made a smaller portion for our daughter, which was really perfect. Furthermore, super friendly service and a really personal touch. Recommended!

I didn’t eat food but the coffees and drinks were really good

Amazing! I got an iced cardamom chai latte and an acai bowl, and my partner got the original pancakes and it was all so good! It's very nice that you can build your own bowl, so I got everything I like :) I really recommend the chocowaffle bites!! The service was great, both girls working there today were so sweet and patient, and the cafe space is so cosy and beautifully decorated. Highly recommend :)

A great place to sit and relax. I had high tea here with a friend. It was the best high tea ever. A well-stocked etagère, completely furnished according to the wishes I had communicated in advance. Everything was really tasty and my girlfriend thought they were the best brownies ever. Communication with Tootje was pleasant and fast. The service was very spontaneous, pleasant and caring; nothing was too much. We enjoyed it; Tootje has two new customers!

I recently had a late lunch hete and was quite impressed with the experience. The food was not only good but also beautifully presented. I tried the Oreo pancakes, which were tasty, though the portion size was a bit modest. The places’ interior is cozy, clearly designed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. There are also some lovely staff members working there, ensuring that everything is as per your wish. The only thing missing for a perfect 5-star review are slightly larger portions to match the quality of the meal. Overall, it’s a great spot for a well-prepared meal at a fairly reasonable price.

Very cozy place with super nice staff and a delicious menu. You can't go wrong with anything. The coffee is smooth and velvety served in a cute cup. The space is a Dutch small but you can choose from tall chairs against the window or a table in. Enjoy!

A lovely place to have something to drink and/or eat. I have visited this establishment several times and have always had a great experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the drinks are great (I always go for a masala chai latte and they make a very good one), and the lunch and dessert options are delicious. Only downside is that the place is a bit small so depending on when you go you may not find a place to sit. Highly recommend!

After our wedding ceremony at the town hall, we had a delicious brunch at Tootje with a group of friends and family. During a pleasant visit to Caresse to discuss our wishes for brunch, we were immediately captivated by her enthusiasm and thoughtfulness. The plans were made quickly and in the end everything was taken care of down to the last detail. We used the private upstairs area and had a delicious brunch here. The brunch, coffee and tea were excellent and everything was very tasty. I can highly recommend Tootje, and especially Caresse and her team. Whether for a cup of coffee, lunch or for a special occasion like ours. Once again, thank you so much, Caresse!
