We foolishly walked in just looking at the window, without reading the reviews... and we made a huge mistake! The pastries and filled croissants, beautifully displayed in the window, deceived us: inside, you'll find terrible food, shoddy and several days old (a plain croissant is INEDIBLE, even with the addition of neon-colored jam), with cappuccino made with freeze-dried ingredients from a self-service machine. But such poor quality comes at a VERY high price: exorbitant prices and non-existent service. Order at the counter, collect it yourself, disposable cutlery and cups, no tablecloths, etc. etc. But the real gem is the (enormous) cat that peeks out of a small opening above the kitchen door, inside the small interior room, which allows it to walk over customers' heads in the attic where the electric lights are installed... guaranteed cat hair in your awful food... Move on, and hurry!

I had guests from Turkey and England. They were in the mood for something sweet and we happened to end up here. It was truly terrible. They just made a mockery of the Netherlands here. Everything was frozen, old, and not fresh at all, and on top of that, it was incredibly expensive. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. I made a fool of myself in front of my guests; make sure you don't experience this.

Well, I unfortunately read the reviews too late. The concept is consistent: typical tourist traps – paid €45 for three sweet treats, a water, and a coffee! Prices aren't displayed anywhere. And at that price, you don't even get a napkin.

We paid €15 for just one toffee waffle, which is absolutely outrageous. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. When they told us the price, they looked at each other strangely, as though they knew perfectly well that the price was a scam. To make matters worse, they practically threw our change back at us, almost in our faces, and they did not even give us a receipt. Their behaviour was disrespectful and completely unacceptable. This place is a complete tourist trap. The prices are absurd, the service is terrible, and nobody should ever buy anything from here.

AWFUL. I went into this little snack bar to get a dessert, and since I'm not Dutch, I spoke to them in English. The staff were very unpleasant and unhelpful. They spoke to us in a very curt and haughty tone. We were told to sit down, and when our order was ready, the staff called us over, shouting from the front of the place. The milkshake was simply undrinkable, and the milk had clearly been sitting for quite some time. Besides that, the place was absolutely filthy. I'm not sure it meets any hygiene standards. Very disappointing experience. The waffles tasted old and were clearly not fresh. They were overpriced for the quality we received. When I politely asked for a fresh waffle, the staff reacted in a rude and unfriendly way, which made the whole experience even worse. There are many better places in Amsterdam to enjoy a fresh waffle.

I'm not a picky person, but I can honestly say that this was the worst place I've ever been to, the waffles were so hard you couldn't even cut them with a knife. When I told the staff, the person heated up the same waffle and it was still just as hard. It tasted old and the staff were so rude. They really didn't care about their customers. You could tell that this is a tourist area and that they know you'll never come back so they didn't care. We ordered lattes and got it in a small paper cup. I also ordered iced lattes and got a type of slush latte that tasted like just sugar and water. You could tell that they're after money and there's no service behind it. It was really expensive. We paid about 1000 SEK for three waffles and some coffee. It's so crazy how you can charge someone so much without being ashamed of scamming them. It's literally robbery.

I don't know why we didn't read the reviews before. The strawberries in a glass with pistachios look amazing, but they wanted to charge us €38 for a 33cl can of Coke, a small bottle of water, the glass with strawberries and pistachios, and a typical cookie. In the end, we got the cookie and the Coke for almost €19, and the cookie was stale.

Old, dry and extreme expensive products

I regret not checking out the ratings of this place. My wife and I were looking to have something to snack. We ordered a Belgian Waffle, an ice cream cone and 2 coffees . We were shocked at the bill of almost €30. When I asked, he said the Belgian waffle was €16. I honestly felt very ripped off. The Waffle wasn’t even nice and tasted stale . Stay away from this shop. If I could give a negative rating, I would do so. I’ve made a complaint to the Municipality of Amsterdam. I would encourage the tourists to do the same. Shame on the shop owners for repeatedly scamming tourists who come to Amsterdam. You are a cancer to this beautiful society . You are definitely not local and you give the Nice Dutch people a bad name. I hope you close soon .

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! €13.50 for a terrible waffle that isn't even a real waffle; they're those mass-produced square waffles. The price is advertised as €6.50 for a waffle, but that's just the price of a plain waffle with nothing added. Adding Nutella costs an extra €3.50, and so on!

I should have checked the comments before buying the shittiest waffle in town. Not showing even the tiniest sign of this being fresh. Can’t even cut. It made me wanna cry. Avoid it.

Be good to yourself and your wallet and PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP! I wanted to allow myself a delicious little waffle with pistachio topping. I looked around and, to my surprise, there were no prices visible, far less clearly marked. Well, I thought this little treat wouldn't cost more than 6 or 7 EUR at the most – but I was wrong! Then the rather harsh employee took a waffle out of the glass display and, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, he demanded 15 EUR! I couldn’t believe my ears! I asked to reconfirm the price, and yes, that little dessert costs 15 EUR! I simply said that was way too expensive and left the shop laughing. One of the guys said to me as I was leaving…Hey, this is Amsterdam! I said, no, THIS IS A RIP-OFF! :)

These are scammers. We paid 28 euros for a traditional Dutch pancake and a waffle. The seller took advantage because I gave 10 euros in cash just to get rid of my cash, and he paid 18 euros on the card terminal. He made sure to turn the terminal away so I couldn’t see how much I was actually paying—a total of 28 euros for just that. I pointed it out to him, and he kept insisting it was 28 euros. A total rip-off. On top of that, questionable hygiene, unfriendly staff, etc. I hope one day this place closes, because it’s a real tourist trap. He took advantage of the fact that we didn’t speak Dutch and English.

I’d have had a better experience washing my gums in the canal than eating in this vile pit. Not only do the prices reflect something a toddler might come up with, but the food is limp and sickly looking and tastes like sucked and spat out cardboard. If you really must have a churro, or a waffle, or a stroopwaffle, then I’d recommend checking alleyway dumpsters and park bins, because granuloma is going to be cheaper to cure and much less shameful than being seen entering this factory of utter human misery. I rate it one star, purely because it put things in perspective for me.

I didn’t realize “Top” meant “Overpriced lazy excuses for”. A medium order of churros is 15.5€. This translates to like 6 churd-os. If you want anything on top, including powdered sugar (1.5€), it costs extra. Each sauce you want to add is 3.5€. Each “sauce” was a pathetic runny squirt out of bottle that soaked into the churro rather than coating it. It was little more than sugar-tainted water. The back seating area is depressing, with an ambience that screams 1980’s hospital cafeteria. Don’t bother with this place. It’s clearly targeting tourists.

A very bad experience and shocking, unexpected treatment. I absolutely do not recommend this place. Two days ago, I visited the restaurant during the night shift. Two young men, presumably teenagers, were there. We ordered a waffle with strawberries, pistachios, and chocolate, a strawberry crêpe, water, and two bottles of ice water. The bill was €56, which surprised me enormously. Thinking there might be a mistake on the bill, I calmly inquired about it. One employee, a bit shorter, tried to maintain a normal conversation. However, the other, a taller employee, began to behave rudely and very inappropriately. He raised his voice, shouted at us in front of passersby, insulted us, and tried to belittle us by saying this restaurant was only for "refined people" and not for people like us 🙄. He then approached me in an intimidating manner, assuming I had insulted him, which was absolutely not the case. The security camera footage can confirm the entire situation. The next day, I went back hoping to speak to the manager, but unfortunately, he wasn't there. I did speak to another employee, who was very polite and apologized for what had happened the night before. Nevertheless, I feel it's important to post this review in the hope that management will read it and take appropriate action. Regardless of the type of work, every position requires employees who communicate politely, respectfully, and professionally, and who don't react in a rude or intimidating manner.
