Nestled right in the woods is this small, cozy, self-service fast-food restaurant. In summer, you can sit outside. Because of the heat, we sat inside and enjoyed delicious frikandels. They also offer very tasty-looking burgers and fries, as well as other light meals.

Turfveld is a lovely place with truly delicious food! The dishes are freshly prepared and simply taste great – whether snacks, main courses, or desserts (delicious cakes 🙂). The relaxed atmosphere amidst the greenery is particularly lovely, combined with the friendly and attentive service. A great place to stop after a walk or excursion, enjoy a good meal, and soak up nature. Highly recommended – we'll definitely be back!

A cozy spot on the edge of the forest. It's a great place for kids to play, and I can easily imagine enjoying a delicious meal or cup of coffee here after a walk. It was my first time here, but I'll definitely be back!

Highly recommended for a bike ride. There's plenty of seating, including indoors. The restrooms are a bit limited. You'll need patience here. Typical Dutch snacks. The signature dish here is the raspatat. Prices are perfectly reasonable. Beautifully situated in the forest. The surrounding area is perfect for a stroll.

Highly recommended if you are on Texel to sit here for a nice hot chocolate with whipped cream and the apple pie is also delicious and there are even more tasty things and the staff is really friendly.

We've been following Turfveld's development for 30 years. First just a small fries stand, and now a proper little restaurant with a lovely outdoor area! All the dishes are delicious! Two or three visits to Turfveld during a vacation are a must – for us, they have the most delicious raspatat (fries) in the world! 😋

Like many others here, we discovered this treat through the show "Wunderschön." The first time, it was totally fine: fries and a chili veggie burger. A few days later, we went back and ordered a cheeseburger meal and a single veggie burger, this time the other one, the beetroot patty... unfortunately, it was inedible, fried far too long, dark and hard, and the bun didn't taste good either; it was orange. We also got two meals: two salads and two fries. The salad comes from a bag, unfortunately, it wasn't washed again; there was always sand in between.

What a lovely spot in the middle of the woods. Plenty of parking, beautiful surroundings, and friendly staff. Considering the location and size, they also have a great menu. The strawberry tart is highly recommended!

I don't like the croquettes, they are vegetarian, I don't like that, but maybe for someone else almost everything is vegetarian.

This kiosk was highly recommended on a German TV show. However, we didn't really like the food: it was fast food, and the croquettes had a strange meat filling. Perhaps you have to get used to local specialties first. Standard service for a kiosk: You order inside, and pick it up as soon as the food is ready. The atmosphere is lovely, in the middle of the forest, with a children's playground nearby.

Beautiful location in the middle of the woods, yet sunny. Easily accessible by bike and ample parking. It's a shame it's self-service, especially for the older crowd who come here in the off-season. Prices are too high for self-service. The vegetarian pie is very tasty but also very small and therefore overpriced.

The place is wonderful, but the staff and welcome not so... Incredible that in a such tourist place the personnel cannot say a word in English... I ordered mint tea and got rotten mint in my glass...

Unfortunately, the fries don't taste good at all. You can smell the old grease from 20 meters away. A flop, unfortunately!

Honestly, the place has obviously been hyped up a bit too much by the WDR broadcast. I definitely prefer classic "friet" to the mashed version offered here. The Frikandel Speciaal also skimps on the sauces. Sorry...

Very disappointing, they were the worst fries and frikandel I've had in a long time. On the Mexican fries, unfortunately, there was no chili from the meat, but a lot of stuff that didn't taste good. Cheese, onions, nachos... Unfortunately, not worth the money. Noisy, because it was completely crowded, lots of kids.

We really enjoyed it here. It's a lovely spot. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had burgers and apple pie and poffertjes to finish. The service was friendly.

It was recommended online. The food is excellent quality and tastes great. The Hopper bus stops right outside. The pricing is perfectly reasonable for Texel. It's a self-service restaurant.

NOT SUITABLE FOR GLUTEN-FREE USE. I ordered gluten-free fries with a toasted sandwich for my children. To my surprise, the fries were on top of the gluten-containing bread. I pointed this out and was immediately told to take the fries off and eat the rest. The staff here have no idea what gluten does to people with celiac disease. It's utterly disrespectful. I gave the fries to my children. Don't go there if you have celiac disease!

Everything is way overrated, regular fries – you can get better ones in Den Burg, De Cocksdorp, and Oudeschild. Frikandel specials are usually sliced; here, the frikandel was placed on top of the sauces and onions.

The best raspatat on the island.

We had a delicious Texel hamburger there. The staff was friendly. Turfveld is located on the edge of the forest, which gives it a cozy feel. Definitely recommended for a bite to eat and a drink.

I learned about this place through a travel report, and this summer I happened to be driving past it, and it immediately came to mind. We made a quick stop, ordered fries and a burger, plus drinks for the whole family, and I have to say: we weren't disappointed. A true insider tip! If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by for a culinary treat.

It's a highly praised online frituur in the woods. So, I hopped on my bike and cycled there. Well, what can I say? It's all very simple. Self-service is the order of the day here, and you queue like you would at a supermarket checkout. Once you've managed to place your order, you're handed a pager and wait for it to ring. Then you run back inside and queue up again to get your order. The quality is okay, but nothing more! So if you like it, this is the place for you! The price-performance ratio is relatively good, since there's no service. The seating is okay! There are play options for children on site, including tree climbing. Okay for a quick stop on a tour, but we can't quite understand the online hype. 🤷 Sorry!

Not what it used to be. Now it's just quantity instead of quality. The bun was terribly soggy and the burger patties were (for all of us) only lukewarm and at best discount store generic fare. That's sad considering the price. The sides like fries etc. were halfway okay, but also average at best. The salad on the plate was dry and also not enjoyable and unnecessary for a burger plate. The location in Wald is nice, but honestly that doesn't make up for the abysmal performance of the burger. Back in the day, when everything was smaller there, the burgers always tasted really good and were always worth a visit, but now I wouldn't recommend it anymore. Price and quality no longer match up for me. All in all, our visit was disappointing and left us with a bit of nostalgia, after all the years on Texel and several previous visits.

I can't say anything about the food; the place looks cozy, but closes at 6 p.m., which is a no-go for a vacation spot.

Of all the things we ate, only the potatoes were good.

The fries were simply fantastic. The goulash croquettes were amazing, and the apple pie with cream was absolutely fantastic.

The food is quite good and tasty; it's just a snack bar, but it's located in the forest. It's very nice, as there's a nearby viewpoint from which you can see quite far across the countryside.

Great for a snack break with the kids! Very child-friendly. The service can't be given a star because it's self-service. No offense intended, but I think it's a good thing, and they'd otherwise need twice the staff with the number of people there.

Great area, it took us an hour to get to the water, but then we could sit down by the dunes and look out at the sea.

The RAS fries are simply fantastic, and so is the beetroot burger! Despite being self-service, the staff is friendly, and everything is clean and tidy. Restrooms are OK, and the playground is decent. It's in a great location on the edge of the forest near the beach, perfect for cyclists.

The fries are really delicious. The rest is so-so. The burgers are okay, but they're not exactly mind-blowing. The apple pie is quite sweet, quite tasty, but at €4 a slice, which wasn't even particularly large, it's also quite expensive. Overall, it's very expensive. This isn't justified by the quality of the food, nor by the unfriendly staff, who prepare and serve the food rather carelessly. We didn't feel comfortable and won't be coming back. Dear staff, a smile sometimes works wonders, even if it's just the stupid Germans who are your guests. 😉 Attached is a picture of the poffertjes for €6, which unfortunately tasted quite sticky. Too bad, you could definitely do better with a bit of fun at work.

The fries taste good, but they're way too expensive for the price, and the portion is too small. The large portion might be enough for one person.

Nice forest hut in the Texel dunes. Self-service so nice and fast. Ice cream, snacks, coffee and drinks available. Large sandbox with lots of toys.

Hidden in the forest. The poffertjes are super moist, and the apple tart with cranberries is very special. Unfortunately, I haven't tried the fries there yet, but the neighboring tables were impressed.

Because of the show "Boundlessly Delicious" or something similar with Björn Freitag as chef and chef. As a tour guide, we drove here specifically to try the croquettes, which weren't that exceptional. The soft ice cream at... In the Coxdorp is far better. The Texelse Lambsburger frozen pizzas, however, are well seasoned; they could just as easily have been beef or chicken; I couldn't taste the lamb. A shame! The sauce wasn't bad, but not enough. The bun was definitely too sweet. My subjective impression, of course, is the friendly staff, who like to count things in their favor. A single restroom isn't enough! On a good, beautiful, sunny day, there are definitely not enough parking spaces. But a nice spot in the forest, a bit overrated.
