Even in a bus day we got fast service. Quickly got a table and my order was taken. Beverages arrived shortly and not long after our lunch options. We where properly surprised! Really well managed place.

Beautiful place. You can even have a coffee table there. Perfectly organized.

The picture was perfect: fireplace, snow, pleasantly busy, beautiful location. But we got nervous when a staff member asked us what we were drinking upon arrival, and then, with our coats still on, asked if we wanted to eat. It was a shame, a missed opportunity. Susan

We had a delicious lunch at De Nachtegaal. The chicken sandwich was delicious and tender, although the portion could have been a bit larger. The "12 o'clock snack" and the carpaccio sandwich were very tasty. The cappuccino was also delicious. Definitely recommended for a tasty lunch!

A beautiful venue with a natural setting. Very friendly staff, a varied menu, and a wonderfully warm atmosphere. Even singles are welcome! It's also very wheelchair-accessible for my mother.

Great atmosphere and very child-friendly. We went for Christmas. It contributed enormously to a wonderful family afternoon.

Finally, a (partially) smoke-free patio. A breath of fresh air. Antisocial smokers are still trying to sabotage this. Keep it up, it's better for your health, children, non-smokers, and the environment. Hopefully, your fellow business owners will soon follow your example.

Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy our dinner. We arrived, hadn't even sat down yet, and were already asked what we wanted to drink... without even having a chance to look at the drinks menu. A few minutes later, we were asked again. One person didn't want anything for a while, but was then asked a few more times if they wanted a drink... (too often - they weren't left alone for a moment). After taking our order, the food arrived just a few minutes later... far too quickly. When I pointed this out, the server said that food always comes quickly there... We didn't like the quality of the food: The chicken patty was lukewarm and far too thickly bound. The schnitzel was grayish and tough. We were back outside within an hour. Far too quickly. Ambience: beautiful location, cozy with the lights, but it was too cold to sit comfortably inside - unfortunately, the heater wasn't on.

Driving at night (in the dark), you wonder where I'm going, there shouldn't be any oncoming traffic. When I arrived, there was a large parking lot and a great location. The food was also excellent.

A wonderful destination in the countryside! Boscafé De Nachtegaal has a truly fantastic location, nestled in a beautiful forest setting. Perfect for a relaxing break after a hike or bike ride. The atmosphere is very child-friendly thanks to the large playground. We only had coffee, but we were very happy with the service – friendly and attentive! The café is also known for its traditional Limburgish dishes. We will definitely be back to try the regional specialties (especially the Zuurvlees!). Highly recommended.

A cozy woodland cafe on the edge of the forest with lovely hiking trails. Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere make it a great place to stay.

SMALL PORTIONS; That's something I've noticed since the new owner took over. The food is excellent. The location itself is top-notch. And the service is good too. But come on; the portions are really bad. They seem to be getting smaller and smaller. You can literally count the fries in the basket (come on, guys, they're just fries). And the size of the slices of bread at lunch...if I try hard enough, I can eat them in five bites. And finally, a point of criticism: bacon and eggs = an omelet with bacon, not fried eggs with bacon. As if beating the eggs is too much work. At least, that's how it seems. There are better alternatives that we'll be going to for now. After all, the core business is making sure customers leave with a full stomach.

We come here almost every year, they recently renovated, and we think that the cozy atmosphere is missing after the renovation.

Good and friendly service. Our pet (Labrador) was also welcome and received its own placemat with a water bowl. Nice atmosphere and good food. Outside, there's a beautiful and spacious terrace.

We were looking for a spot for dinner and we got the advise to visit Boscafé De Nachtegaal. We enjoyed the atmosphere there. It’s cozy and the staff were very friendly and welcoming too. We chose for a few local traditional dishes: ‘Limburgs Zoervleis’ and ‘Konijnenbout op Grootmoeder’s wijze’. The food was amazingly delicious! They have surprisingly a lot of beers on draft or in bottles. Try their local brewed beer: Nachtegaaltje.

A very tasty dinner. I had venison steak (cooked to perfection), and my wife had duck leg – also excellent. Only our grandson's chicken nuggets were a bit spicy for him.

Always a pleasant and comfortable place to sit. Suitable for both adults and children. We've had a few instances where the service was a bit slow during busy periods. But that doesn't change the fact that we enjoy coming here.

Beautiful spot on the edge of the forest. Plenty of space and a playground for the kids, though it can be a bit noisy. Service was quick despite the crowd. The food was good.

Lovely brasserie, delicious pancakes, and a fun playground! Service wasn't very fast, but it was also a bit busy.

This afternoon we sat on the terrace, enjoying the sunshine. After we were seated, the service arrived fairly quickly. After that, we didn't see any service for a good thirty minutes, and we had to go inside to pay ourselves. We were the only ones on the terrace, and there were a few people inside as well. The last straw for us was when an employee came to clear the terrace and did his best to ignore us. That didn't feel welcoming. Fortunately, there are more places in South Limburg that are hospitable. We'll go there next time.

I understand that people can be busy, and if a customer asks if there's a table available, it's a lot to ask. Answering in a rather unfriendly manner isn't very helpful. Blonde woman of about 50 - you need to take a communication course.

My father, who's from Limburg, and I were truly astonished by the incredibly small portions. I ordered the "zoervlees" (sour meat) for 20 euros. I received a tiny 10cm-wide container, so the portion size was still a bit tainted. And a bowl of fries that I had to share. The small lettuce was delicious. Ridiculous. I've rarely been so disappointed. And 9 euros for a piece of cake! Come on. Order fries with "zoervlees" from the chip shop. Yuck.

Had a wonderful midday meal, great service, plenty of staff! Nice and atmospheric, and a fun playground for the little ones.

Delicious food, nice play facilities for children. Unfortunately, we had to leave again on our second visit. At 5:30 PM, we were told rather rudely that we couldn't sit down with two small children on the only terrace overlooking the playground. This is incomprehensible for a restaurant that markets itself as child-friendly. Despite the positive first experience, it's a reason not to return.

We went for a meal on the way back from vacation, which was wonderful for the kids, allowing them to play for a bit. Our youngest had fallen off the seesaw and came inside crying. Before I got there, the staff (owner) had already arrived to help him, comfort him, and clean him up. They came by the table a few more times afterward to ask how he was doing and bring a present for both children. Plus, the service was fast and the food was delicious!

Unbelievable service. My son injured himself on the play park (we are visiting from the UK). The manager Denny, went above and beyond and took us in his car to the doctors (we arrived by bicycle). We are so very grateful and will return later this week for another lunch. As before the unfortunate event, I can honestly say the food and service had already been 10/10. Absolute gem of a place. You won’t be disappointed.

A lovely restaurant in a beautiful location. The name "Boscafé" is spot on; you're surrounded by nature and woodland. You can sit on the large terrace or inside. Even inside, it's clearly a forest café—the natural atmosphere is completely maintained. Because we were with a large group, we sat inside. Upon arrival, we were told they had two tables set up for eight people. We thought that was a shame, because then we wouldn't have been able to sit at one table with the whole family. After asking the staff if it was possible to sit at one table with the whole group, they did everything they could to accommodate us. The staff is very friendly and truly goes above and beyond to ensure you and your group have a pleasant experience. The menu consists mainly of meat dishes served with fries. There are also some vegetarian options. Dogs are also welcome at this restaurant, and there's even a special menu for them! We first ordered a few appetizers to share. The main courses, however, took a while. It was very busy, so it was understandable that it might take a while, but still annoying. During the long wait, the youngest among us had a great time in the playground. The food was okay, otherwise nothing special. I ordered the spare ribs. These were served with garlic and chili sauce, and a small salad. The fries were served separately, which was convenient since almost everyone got fries with their meal. The meat on the spare ribs was good, but they weren't marinated. Therefore, you also get sauces with them, which is fine. However, I do prefer marinated spare ribs. The portion size isn't very large either—I've seen larger racks—but this was perfectly fine for me. I didn't order dessert, but I did order a latte macchiato with caramel. I saw on the menu that this was an option. However, when the desserts were served, it didn't go quite right. The caramel syrup was served on the side, but the staff initially didn't quite understand this and thought it was a liqueur. All in all, we had a pleasant evening.

Spent an afternoon here with my dad and my kids. The waffle, ice cream, and cake were delicious. Smoking is no longer allowed on the patio next to the play area. Smoking is allowed on the adjacent patio.

A lovely spot nestled in the greenery near the Geul River. A large terrace with a smoke-free zone (very pleasant). Friendly service, reasonable prices. Accessible by car via the bike path (cars are guests). Ample but limited parking, so come for a walk or bike ride. Tom Hamaekers and his team have created a warm, cozy, and well-maintained location. Hats off! 💪

Great place. Fantastic terrace. A solid 8 out of 10. One small point/question. The ragout from the videeke was fine, well-filled. But the puff pastry was very tough. Perhaps it was microwaved?

Part of the terrace (near the children's playground) is smoke-free, a courageous and thoughtful decision by the owner, which I'm very happy with. Pleasant atmosphere and good service.

Shady terrace on the cycling route in Geuldal. Despite the crowds, the service is attentive. A word of caution to the kitchen: the toasted sandwich I ordered was disappointing. Even after returning it, it wasn't toasted enough. The brown bread was soggy. The type of brown bread is probably unsuitable for making a toasted sandwich. The accompanying salad wasn't fresh and had been prepared too long ago.

A beautiful, wonderfully cool, wooded setting. A cozy patio. Plenty of fun for the kids to play in. Very friendly staff. It's great that the patio is (partially) smoke-free. It's not pleasant to sit or eat in other people's smoke. Kudos to the owner for having the courage to make this decision. People who want to smoke? Fine. But don't force others to inhale those harmful fumes (for example, my severely asthmatic grandchild).

A lovely restaurant! I think it's exemplary that there's a non-smoking area outside as well. I wish many other restaurants had that as well.

A lovely restaurant for both lunch and dinner. It's beautifully situated in the woods, a great place for a walk. Dogs are welcome, and they even have a dog menu, which is great! The restaurant has been beautifully renovated both inside and out since the new owner took over. It's a great overall concept. The pancakes are highly recommended!

Disappointing! I've been coming here several times a year for 30 years. Since the takeover a few years ago, they've had a reputation that can't be maintained. The service is extremely poor and the atmosphere is completely detrimental. After half an hour of no service, we called to ask if we could have another drink. The unfriendly blonde woman who had taken our order earlier approached us with a warlike expression. "Did you just call?" she asked. "Yes," she said, and we complained about the service, to which she replied that patience is a virtue. Before she lectured us any further, we simply asked for the bill. This is such a shame!

A lovely forest café with excellent value for money. Such establishments are becoming rare in this area. Attentive service, delicious dishes, and a friendly atmosphere, just as you'd expect. I'll definitely be back again with pleasure.

Beautiful location in forest area. Good service, friendly staff. And, the food is great. The Spareribs are recommended. You lick your fingers.

Unfortunately, it has deteriorated considerably in the last two months. Both in service and quality of food. Many more people but seriously bad food.

Terrace is super crowded and noisy. There is no atmosphere at all. Service is chaotic and is all over the place in terms of organization. Orders are often wrong. Also, friendliness is hard to find, but I don't think that's strange because they seem very stressed.

Nice weather and very busy. Despite that, we were helped nicely and the starter was on the table fairly quickly. Small miscommunication when serving the main course because everything was still on our table....(something to do with being busy) Everything was very tasty and more than enough. Skipped dessert but did have a delicious cup of coffee. We recommend the sour meat.

The food itself was fine, but the overall experience was strongly negatively influenced by the service. The staff seemed stressed and inexperienced, and repeatedly failed to take or execute orders correctly. Comments about this were not handled professionally - instead, they responded irritated and unfriendly. This definitely did not benefit the hospitality and atmosphere.

First of all, to the nice waitress: You shouldn't have apologized for your poor German, but we for not being able to speak Dutch! We're sorry about that now. Sorry! We had the burger with chips, and it was delicious. The café's interior is of a higher quality than you'd expect from the outside. The restrooms, etc., are clean and tasteful. We'd be happy to come back!

Had a lovely normal meal, without much fuss.

A typical place where passers-by, large groups and many children come. Crowded, shouting, inexperienced young staff that is only allowed to bring the drinks to the table. No music, no atmosphere. The food was ok, but the rest really not, at least not if you want to eat something nice as a couple or with 2 couples. The service was nowhere to be seen and when she was there, she was downright unfriendly. It was the first and 100% certainly the last time.

We had to ask 4 times to be served before we could order. The meal was ok but the portion was extremely small. I ordered a ‘twaalf uurtje’, which was supposed to be the soup of the day, a sandwhich with a ‘kroket’ and a carpaccio wrap. Since i did not like the soup of the day I ordered it without soup. What i got was a slice of baguette (really small, the kroket was larger than the bread itself), and two narrow slices of a carpaccio wrap. Without exaggerating, the complete meal was gone in 4 bites. When i got the bill, the ‘twaalf uurtje’ was fully charged (€14,95), and when I complained I got a €4,50 refund. The soup of the day is for €7,50 on the menu. What I ate was tasty, but way too little.

De lokatie is top zeker bij mooi weer. Echt hoe krijg je het voor elkaar om een basisgerecht als spareribs zo smakeloos op tafel te zetten. Goedkoop vlees, veel te veel nietszeggende saus en sla die al een tijdje er staat. Geen aanrader. Jammer want het hoeft niet zo voor hetzelfde geld…
