Beautiful place in Wassenaar town , super food and very friendly staff, Leni is always happy to welcome customers , I went yesterday with friends and Leni contributed to make our dinner very enjoyable .

Very noisy, there was a group that was very busy and we were not warned about that. Very annoying, especially because we were there with old friends To catch up Despite saying so repeatedly, we were offered nothing in compensation. We are not looking forward to that, but the idea would have been nice (and is part of good hosting) The food was also good, but we won't be back.

Geweldig Kerstdiner gehad, heerlijk 6 gangen menu van super kwaliteit en duidelijk met zorg en aandacht klaargemaakt. Ondanks vol restaurant leuke gezellige bediening en sommelier en chef die toelichting op wijn en spijzen kwamen geven. Al regelmatig hier gegeten maar vanavond 1e Kerstdag was heel bijzonder! Blijft een aanrader!

Leuk knus restaurantje met aardige bediening en lekker eten. We hadden hert als hoofdgerecht, lekker mals vlees ook het voorgerecht was bij ons beiden erg lekker. Als ik weer in de buurt ben, gaan we er zeker nog een keer eten

Delicious food. Beautiful flavors and nice, smooth service. Pleasant atmosphere. A new favorite in Wassenaar. Tonight (13-10) we visited again and opted for the chef's menu. The beet carpaccio was tasty, but the main course with fish was a bit flat and bland and was actually a bit disappointing. There was no tension in the dish. Too bad after our previous experience.

Had a great meal here. Nice place on the square, friendly service and pleasant wine. The food also pleasant. Taken the Crooked Spider Bliond as an aperitif. We would like to include more beers from this local brewery in our range.

What a gem in a very nice spot in Wassenaar. We had a delicious lunch before our visit to the Voorlinden museum. We had received this address via email, otherwise we would not have found it quickly. Very friendly service, very tasty dishes (steak tartare salad: mmm) and salad with smoked salmon. Both with toasted brioche bread and salted butter. Very good quality!

Je hebt van die avonden waarop alles klopt. Met ons zessen op pad wordt het altijd wel supergezellig. Maar van Veen deed er nog een schep bovenop. Het menu van de chef bracht vitello tonato (bij velen op de kaart) maar hier wel met een eigen twist, een heerlijk stukje roodbaars (wel frites erbij besteld) en een lekkere crumble na. Goede wijn, een knus terras en een stelletje prima kerels in de bediening. Prijs/kwaliteit? Meer dan in orde. We komen graag terug.

Nice place on the village square with a small terrace. Tasty food and even with a whole range of dietary restrictions (such as no dairy, no meat, no onions/garlic, etc.) it worked out well. It's a shame that the hand-cut fries are no longer on the menu, but there is plenty of choice on the menu, including a delicious vegan dish. Fresh guys in the service who kept a close eye on everything and were genuinely nice. All in all, a nice and delicious evening out in a tasteful, relaxed atmosphere.

Real shame. When I first ate here about a year ago I thought it was on the expensive side, but the quality was really quite good. This time we were seriously disappointed by a really mediocre piece of beef and accompaniments in a steak main course costing € 37,- ! The wines are quite ok, but the seriously small measure of spirits in the after dinner drinks confirmed the overall experience as negative.

Lovely dinner bistro! Tastefully decorated, excellent service and great food. The Oysters were very good, the Portobello mushroom risotto as well. The Steak Tartar was good, but I prefer to prepare it myself (but that's a personal preference). Will definitely come back!

My girlfriend and I had a bite to eat yesterday in this nice, cozy restaurant. Food was of exceptional quality and the service was friendly and knew a lot about the house wines. We will definitely come back again to try something else on the menu.

There was also space for 7 people in the Van Veen on Sunday evenings That was striking, there was really space, even though all the restaurants in Wassenaar were busy. We soon discovered that this was because the house was not in the general class. Friendly young people served courteously and patiently. The ambience was subtle and cozy. The selection of food was extensive, but not confusing, so there was something suitable for every participant. The quality of the food was excellent, and all the dishes had a special kick. We were thrilled. It is not surprising that the price corresponded to this level. But here it was truly appropriate.

Delicious food, very attentive service. The steak tartare is nice and coarse and freshly cut, wonderfully prepared. Hand-cut fries, nice and crispy. Chateaubriand tender with tasty side dishes. And a delicious cheese board. Well worth a visit.

Fine dining here. Operation is loose but neat. Seats and furnishings are fine and chic. Business and music can be a bit noisy. Food is really excellent and comes through quietly. A basket of bread with the first drink might be a good addition.

Prices not cheap and for this money the minimum has to be fresh, quality ingredients, well cooked. Although some of what we were served was good, not all passed the above test. Cut down the menu, make sure what you offer is fresh produce, freshly cooked.

Already eaten at Van Veen for the fourth time, this time with a slightly larger group. As always delicious food for a good price. The chef's menu was again fantastic: layout, smell, taste, texture, surprise, portion size - everything was perfect. It's very nice that they renew their menu four times a year, especially because you can trust that it is always good. Also nice: the cheerful, friendly staff. Attentive, knowledgeable about wine and the menu - you feel welcome. Special: the steak tartare from a table companion was really delicious and fresh and don't forget to order a portion of their hand-cut fries. Comes with real mayonnaise.

We came here for lunch in a hot sunny Sunday. We choose a table outside on a shade. Quick they approach us and menu and suggestions were given. We had a flamkuchen classic to share and then 2 tandoori chicken salads and beef tender as main course. Food was excelent and the service attentive. We definetely reccomend it!

Very pleasant and excellent food

This excellent restaurant is located in the old center of Wassenaar. Upon entering you immediately have a view of the wine cellar. The menu is fairly classic, I took foie gras and duck breast. There is certainly plenty to choose from from the wine list. Friendly service that warns you in time to order a dessert, so that it can be consumed before closing time.

We discovered this little restaurant at lunchtime, had a bite to eat and then went back again in the evening because the food was so delicious. In addition, a service that immediately took care of every wish and a lovingly furnished ambience. We enjoyed the evening.

Sunday afternoon, June 20, 2022, we ate on the terrace. Delicious Chardonnay; Steak tartare ; Halibut ; hand-cut thick fries with a well-prepared salad. Dessert ; Crème Brulee and Chocolate mousse. It all tasted great and friendly service by beautiful young ladies. My mother and I lived at Plein 14, Wassenaar for many years. It was then called; Café De Goede Hoop .

A lovely terrace has been added in the most beautiful part of Wassenaar! The staff is super friendly, the menu is exactly what you are looking for and the appearance is just right. I recommend everyone to go here!

Great food in a beautiful sunny courtyard!

Very good addition to the neighborhood. You can sit in the sun all day long with an extensive menu and a fantastic drinks board! Highly recommended!
