The food was very rich and tasty. The ramen dish was hearty, a very good meal. The waitress was very friendly, quick, attentive, and spoke several languages, helping us choose and explain. We tried several dishes, and all were very good. The place was very cozy, with windows overlooking the canal, a quiet atmosphere, relaxing music, dim lighting, and well-decorated without being excessive. There was a photography exhibition on the walls. Four of us ate for €25 per person.

The tables are placed too close to each other, which makes the dining experience quite uncomfortable. The food is average, but the overall atmosphere suffers due to the cramped seating. Additionally, the staff seem undertrained and unprofessional, resulting in disappointing service.

The food here was delicious! I’m from the UK and I’ve not had many ramens but this one was probably the best I’ve ever had, the hype must be real!

The food was good! Half their menu options were vegan which is always a major bonus. The food itself was quite good! We enjoyed their plum wine as well. We had their vegan mushroom ramen and it was definitely the right option, it was really flavorful and unique and not a dish that is available at any ramen place. The gyozas were also super enjoyable. The star of the show however is the fantastic view over the water. This is definitely a place I would recommend for everyone just to get a chance to enjoy this view! The staff was also amazing and super friendly. They let us stay to finish our drinks while they had started closing. We expected to be rushed or asked to leave or anything but they were super chill and really nice about it. Had a great experience!!

An excellent restaurant in Amsterdam, intimate and with incredible views of the canals. The ramen is truly excellent; if you're looking for a restaurant like this, you can go there with your eyes closed.

I had dinner with some coworkers on Monday. I was busy and the place is small, but Ricardo was very kind and recommended dishes, and the food was very, very good. The one in the photo is Tantanmen. With a mild spicy kick, it was very tasty. We ordered kimchi and gyosas as a starter, both of which were also very delicious.

This is hands down the best ramen in Amsterdam! The broth is incredibly creamy, and the noodles are exceptional. The service is just as impressive — the team is welcoming and attentive. Overall, a flawless experience. I definitely recommend visiting!

Went in at 11.56, waiter told me to wait outside for four minutes. I explained that it was raining outside so what was the big deal to wait 4 minutes inside. He said "I can't help you". The hell kind of dick move is that? No one was inside and I came alone. Real shame, considering they have pretty amazing ramen. I've been to this place several times before and everybody was real nice, pity that "hospitality" of this one individual reflects on the rest of the nice people who work there.

The service was good, but the ramen wasn't great. The noodles were still hard, and the tofu was a bit bitter. I think the price is too high for the quality of the ramen.

We had four of their ramen some gyozas and some kimchi , the ramen was above average, the spicy one in particular was pretty good (have had ramen all over the world), the gyozas were really bland same for the kimchi. The prices were okayish for the location (a bit expensive in comparison to the rest of the NL I would say - 20€ for a bowl of ramen- ). The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. Now what made us a very negative impression was the behaviour of the staff. We had made a reservation at 8:30 we arrived about 1 hour earlier, they told us that our table was occupied , which is expected, now what it is not expected was the fact that when we came back for the **third** time (after we tried two more times to get our “table”) one hour later after our initial visit when we asked for a proper table because of the fact that we realised that they had allocated for us stools instead of a proper table, they impolitely refused claiming that the table was reserved. We started eating at 8:30 and left at about 10-10+ no reservation was made for the table that we asked for, the table wasn’t given to anyone and they straight up lied to us.

I really wanted to drink hot soup so I went to Ramen. I ordered chicken white soup ramen, €18 per bowl. Although the price is not cheap, it is reasonable in Europe. The soup is not too salty and tastes smooth. The chicken is very generous and the meat is good, which is great! I like it very much! Overall, it is really satisfying to be able to eat such Asian flavors in Europe. The atmosphere in the store is good and the mood is super good~ If you are a little homesick and miss the hot Asian food in a foreign country, I highly recommend trying this place!

Popped in without a reservation, but they managed to squeeze us in. My partner had the chicken and I had one of the four vegan options. Both were delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommended place to eat.

Wonderful ramen, with a beautiful view. This hidden gem is well worth a visit. Queues can be long though, so I’d recommend booking in advance. Have been here multiple times and it’s consistently good.

Both the ramen and karaage don were delicious. The homemade iced teas weren't too sweet, and above all, the atmosphere was super cozy! Three of us managed to get a seat here on a Saturday without a reservation 👍🏻

We arrived and was full, had to wait about 15 minutes, worth the wait. Ordered the tantanmen and a vegan option, but delicious. Definitely suggest making a reservation. Will be going back

I love ramen. I’ve travelled the role in search of delicious ramen. From Tokyo to London, New York to Hong Kong, I’ve tried A LOT of ramen. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised that VATTEN RAMEN delivered a 5 ⭐️ ramen! I ordered the “special ramen” and it was loaded with flavor. It had a delicious, creamy broth, cha siu chicken, half boiled egg, nori and additional toppings of mushrooms, pickles and egg salad. The homemade iced tea and crispy takoyaki completed that flavor-packed experience. UMAMI-GALORE! 🎉✨🍜🫶🏽

I'm a customer at this place, truly one of the best places to eat in Amsterdam. The staff is amazing, and they also speak Spanish. Highly recommended.

Great food just not a lot of seating

This was the first restaurant I stopped at while in Amsterdam, it was the first thing that caught my eye and I’m so glad it did! Everything was so yummy and the location was so cute. I’m sad we couldn’t eat downstairs because it was absolutely amazing but still a great experience.

Probably the best ramen restaurant in the world.

Having been to Japan, the ramen here was dry and not authentic. Also I got sick with an upset stomach after dining here. The atmosphere and staff are nice, but the food is mediocre and apparently unsafe.

Very nice little ramen shop in the center of Amsterdam. Small, clear menu, but really highly recommended and delicious! On average €20. I'd love to come back!

Absolutely delicious food. The service was outstanding, when Gyoza Wagyu was sold out they gave us Gyoza with another filling for free. We loved it and will come back!

Best ramen we've had since Japan! The chicken broth was thick and flavorful, and the fresh noodles were perfectly cooked, bouncy and chewy. The waitress was also very kind and made us feel very cosy here.

Location is nice, you have to reserve the canal view tables if you really want it. Besides that the environment is nice Maybe my choice was wrong but i found the meal generally bland, especially the chicken (it tasted like the chicken you find in diet meals). I should have picked something spicier. Homemade ice tea is good.

Awesome experience with great customer service and even better food. The ramens are gorgeous and really generous. The "special" broth is extremely good and really creamy, I can't recommend it enough.

Disappointing and Overpriced – Don’t Understand the Hype Not sure why this place has so many glowing reviews. Maybe ramen culture isn’t well established here yet, but our experience at Vatten Ramen was both expensive and underwhelming. The edamame tasted like the cheapest frozen kind you’d find in a discount Asian grocery store—bland and rubbery, just sprinkled with salt. The chicken karaage was the biggest letdown: not juicy or tender, just dry and tough to chew, served with a low-quality red dipping sauce instead of the usual creamy mayo. As for the ramen itself, we tried the classic Vatten Ramen and it was nearly flavorless. The broth had a strange powdery aftertaste, and the bowl was topped with a bunch of random microgreens that didn’t add anything to the dish. It felt more like a trendy fusion attempt than a proper bowl of ramen. Only noodles were good. Overall, this felt like a place banking on aesthetics rather than quality. Definitely wouldn’t return.

I entered the store right after it opened and ordered right away. A quick meal that doesn't take much time. Whether you can see the canal from your single seat depends on your luck, but I ordered the Special Vatten Ramen. It's a slightly creamy pork bone ramen, and you can change the flavor with the included butter. The butter on the pork bones wasn't bad either.

Absolutely delicious food, a relaxed atmosphere and a lovely location, right on a canal. The staff are extremely friendly. The decor is very Japanese style, including a heated toilet seat :)

Delicious ramen, great and cosy location, superb service. We were looking for a place to eat with no reservation, and ran into this place. We were not having very high hopes, yet we found a friendly and cosy restaurant, serving delicious ramen with little waiting. We will definitely be back.

A nice cozy atmosphere and helpful staff. The food was also great: the chicken stock was particularly tasty and the ice cream was generously topped. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

The glazed miso eggplant and the vegan ramens were really good. The only thing I didn't like that much is that the toppings were cold so the broth would cool down quite quickly.

Total tourist trap! The Ramen was basically tasteless. Noodles half-cooked. You could kinda eat it but it just did not taste at all like a Ramen. Gyoza were also underwhelming. Additionally to the low quality the price was super high. No recommendation at all. Location was nice though.

Food was very mid. Service and location is great but the ramen is not it. If you have had good ramen before you will be disappointed - we were surprised how high the reviews were.

Watten Ramen Zeedijk serves delicious ramen with generous portions. The service is excellent, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Highly recommended!

It's my second visit, and honestly, it's salty. But even considering the saltiness, it’s delicious… 😮‍💨 Delicious!!!!!!! If you make it a little less salty, it would be truly legendary...🫶🏻 I think I'll go next time too. Great taste of Karaagedon

The place is generally looking nice with some cozy interior and nice Amsterdam canal views. But the food was very much of a disappointment. We had a Vatten ramen and a Vegan ramen. Vatten ramen was generally okay given that it’s a chicken and not pork as it should be. Not very rich broth, few small pieces of meat, a lot of noodles and unnecessary salad leafs but you can at least eat that. As for the vegan ramen I wouldn’t even dare to call it a ramen. More like a vegetable salad with some warm onion water instead of a proper broth. Only few small pieces of tofu, all other is just salad like chopped vegetables with some tasteless grass. Radish circles on the side are cut poorly, firm and hard to chew. Overall expected much more for a place with such location, interior and surprisingly high rating. If you like ramen or have eaten any good one in your life, this place would be just no more than a disappointment and money waste

From a vegetarian point of view, that's one of the best Ramen I ever had, the soup is just so tasty, the noodles are fantastic as well, and if you lucky enough, you'll eat in front of the water by the window at the end, enjoy 🙌🏻

An excellent experience. The flavor and texture of the vegan broth are surprising, with an intensity that comforts and leaves a mark. The atmosphere is very pleasant, with a careful musical selection that accompanies without invading. And the best: the kindness and attention of the team, out of 10. I will definitely return!

Great guys! We were lucky and got four seats. Even though it looks quite cramped, there's plenty of room. We had our own space, and even though it was packed, it wasn't loud at all; it was actually really pleasant :) The ramen was super delicious. Spicy and mild. The four of us also shared fried chicken and gyoza, which were simply heavenly ❤️ The staff were friendly and did a good and quick job :) The four of us can only praise this small but fine ramen shop and warmly recommend it.

Vatten Ramen Zeedijk is a small, warm restaurant spread over two floors - and it not only impressed us with its excellent ramen, but also with its hospitality! We strolled through Amsterdam with our dog and passed countless Asian restaurants - unfortunately everywhere they said “no dogs allowed”. But then we discovered Vatten Ramen Zeedijk – and what a stroke of luck it was! We received a warm welcome here and our four-legged friend was also welcome. The ramen was simply fantastic: perfectly seasoned broth, quality ingredients and a great balance of flavors. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasantly cozy. If you're looking for authentic, delicious ramen in Amsterdam and value a hospitable restaurant, this is the place for you. We'll definitely be back! 😊🍜

The best Ramen I have had in my life and i have tried a lot, I visit this place every time im come to Amsterdam and everytime the Ramen, service and atmosphere is fantastic. Homely and beautiful resturant, and the ramen broth is rich, creamy and the chicken karaage is so flavourful. Try the komuchas aswell! :)

Top spot. We ate the tantan men and the ramen with chicken and spinach. In the basement we had a beautiful view of the water. Went in by chance, enjoyed it.

Best ramen in Amsterdam with such a view on a canal

I had dinner at Vatten Rameil and ordered the Tantanmen, which, as stated on the menu, is slightly spicy. I kindly asked the waitress if it could be served without chili oil, essentially making it non-spicy. However, when the ramen arrived, it was extremely spicy—so much so that I couldn’t finish it. That being said, the dish was absolutely delicious, and the ingredients were clearly of high quality. The atmosphere was also very pleasant and peaceful, making the overall experience enjoyable. Despite this small issue with the spice level, I highly recommend this place!

One of the finest ramen I had ever tasted.

5* food and location, 1* service Went for lunch with a friend two weeks ago. Both me and my girlfriend were surprised by the rudeness of the two waiters (young men, one with colored nails and one with long hair). We requested a table downstairs and they agreed with a disappointed look. It was empty downstairs, there was no one sitting there and we were given a corner table with stools. When we asked for another table with chairs, the boy said: "It's not enough that we opened the downstairs area for you, you want another table as well?". We were both shocked at how little manners this young man had. The orders went without any smile, it was as if those guys were doing us a favor by serving us... They deserve to be fired 🙅🏼‍♀️

Ramen was pretty good but would have liked more depth in flavour. Surprised there was only chicken available. The eggplant starter was excellent. Overall nice place, good views, but not sure it fully lives up to the hype unfortunately. Would give 3.5 stars if I could.

Delicious food and service was great.

Just gave it another try after a year or so, but unfortunately my feedback remains the same. The view and interior is amazing, and the staff is great. But the food is disappointing, almost tasteless, which is hard to achieve for ramen ! Very little portion of meat also.

The food is an absolute dream!!! As a big fan of Asian cuisine, the standard for ramen is very high - the claim was 100% met! The cute, cozy restaurant is spread over 2 levels and I recommend making a reservation at the window on the lower floor with a view of the water. Vatten Ramen is a new culinary fixture for me that I will NEVER miss on future visits 😀

Cozy ramen place with good music and delectable food.

Beyond a passionate service and a great view I haven't found much. I had their classic Vatten Ramen: the soup was poor in taste, chicken meat and not pork, too many noodles. The room was cozy but was terribly cold. I had good company and we had fun but the general quality we expected was not there. Maybe it's because it was Saturday night and they were crowded?

Having lunch with a family of 4, reservation is recommended. Good & quick service. Tasty many, Asahi beer on tap.

for how high of reviews this place had i was disappointed with the overall taste and quality of the batten ramen i got. the noodles tastes store bought, and the flavour of the ramen i found to be bland, especially for the price. i’ve had friends say they really like this place, so maybe it was just a bad day? the overall vibes of this restaurant was great though.

The service and atmosphere were much nicer than I expected from a place so central and accessible to tourists. We ordered 2 chicken ramen, also called as vatten ramen. We were quite surprised by the small bowl of ramen we got for the price, with few toppings that look like a lot in a small bowl. The only upside was the nice broth and the noodles. Also, when we asked one of the ramens to be spicy they said they could bring a home made chilli oil separately for 1.5 eur which I also found bizarre because all I needed was two spoons of this chilli oil, more than half of this went to waste. I haven’t seen such a practice in any of the other ramen places I’ve been to. Lastly, I found the choice of topping the ramen with raw spinach and some fresh sprouts like alfalfa quite odd. I guess they gave ramen their own spin but it just wasn’t my thing.
