Overall a solid choice for a warm, comforting bowl of ramen. Cute setting, good service and tasty food. Lots of chicken, beef and vegan/vegetarian options to choose from as well as rice options and a good selection of starters. Overall a great spot in Amsterdam

We were there last week for dinner with friends and were delighted with both the service and the food; the ramen is spectacular. Thank you, Paqui and the team, for your hospitality.

Had to wait 50min *after* receiving side dishes (35mins after ordering) for ramen with barely any taste. Its understandable it can take longer in weekend, however tables that came afterwards received compensation and we didnt. And a headsup about; 'sorry the ramen will take a bit longer then usual' wouldve been nice! They call it 'Chicken Char Siu' but its just boiled chicken. The side dishes were good tho. The staff is okay. Their 'homemade ice tea' has no taste really. I dont think its worth the money! *we did mention it at the kassa! They didnt offer anything..

Vatten Ramen Zeedijk We had a delicious meal! The Tan Tan Men, Vatten Ramen Special, and that refreshing Yuzu Sake were fantastic. The karaage was super crispy and the gyoza perfectly cooked. Exquisite and varied food and fantastic service!! We were served by Francisca, a very kind, fun, and professional girl!!! If I return to Amsterdam, I will definitely go back; the place is beautiful!!! And the service is unbeatable.

The Chicken ramen is not very rich in flavour and considering the price not much in the soup, 3 mushrooms,3 little pieces of meat and some leaves of greens.

Loved this place, I had it in my bookmarks for a long time until I tried it myself. The location is very central and close to the train station. It has a nice view over the Amsterdam canals. The place is quite tiny, and if you want to sit by the windows, you must reserve in advance. If you drop in, you might need to sit at the side bar tables which have long chairs without back support, and some of them don't have hooks unders the table for your jacket. The food was good, we chose vegan options and we loved it.

Who would have thought you could eat authentic Japanese ramen while looking out at the canal?

I was there last night (a Thursday night). Had my mind not been set on eating ramen, I would have given up! Had to wait 5 mins at the door to be greeted, even though the place was far from full. Then, I think the waitress forgot I existed since it took her like 15 mins to bring me a menu. At least, the ramen was decent.

Was really excited to visit the place cause it seemed like the food was good! Unfortunately when we were seated a mouse appeared near the table. Not sure if it was cause the door was open when we entered or points to a general problem but we left after informing the personnel whom apologized but did not seem too surprised

Ramen is just ok, I dont find it memorable compared to other ramens. Also pricy. Had Vatten ramen and the chicken was overcooked. Broth is delicious though. And also the yuzu oolong tea. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience. Had high expectations because of the good reviews.

I really enjoyed the place; we were able to sit down even though we didn't have a reservation, which was great. The atmosphere and music were a great match, with a beautiful view. The food and drinks were delicious: vattan ramen with homemade jasmine ice tea.

It was very delicious! I recommend it to all ramen lovers.

They say they have gluten-free noodles, meaning rice noodles, but when you get there they tell you that everything they use contains or may contain gluten. They say they use soy sauce and that they can give you the noodles on their own. In short, they waste your time for nothing.

It was our first visit here, we tried the vatten special ramen as main. The chicken broth base of the ramen and the homemade kimchi were the best parts, though the wagyu gyoza was also quite good. It's a nice bonus that the noodles are homemade too.

I’ve been coming here for years and it truly is the best Japanese restaurant in the city. The food is always fabulous, with top-quality ingredients and authentic flavors. The service is impeccable every single time – friendly, attentive, and welcoming. On top of that, the views over the canal make this place extra special. A must-visit in Amsterdam!

Food was absolutely deliciuous. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Only thing I would work on, the service was ok but not particulary nice.

This place in the middle of the busy Zeedijk looks really cool. Both upstairs and especially downstairs there is a beautiful view on the canals. Concrete walls with artwork on them. Boats passing. Love the vibe of the place. They have three vegan ramen dishes and quite a few other vegan things on the menu. The miso glazed aubergine was lovely and looked nice as well, cut in cubes. The kimchi was super spicy, as advertised, and full of flavor. Unfortunately the vegan gyoza were bland. They looked good but did not taste like anything. That was a bit disappointing. The vegan black tantanmen (black sesame seed base) was nice and subtle. Not too strong in flavors but I could appreciate it after a while. Nice and earthy and creamy. My favorite was the Kinoko ramen (mushroom base). Full of nice different mushrooms and you could really taste that strong mushroom flavor in the soup as well. Both ramen had plenty of toppings. Although I would have prefer some solid tofu instead the crumble, because that created a bit of a messy soup. Had a yuzu tiramisu as dessert. Very nice and thick and creamy with a subtle hint of citrus. Looked great as well. Staff was super friendly and I really liked the overall vibe of the place.

Ramen with a view on the canals? Big yes! The miso aubergine was delicious and probably the highlight of the meal! The kimchi was very spicy (on low-resistance my spicy scale). I had a vegan Kinoko ramen which had a nice and strong mushroom flavor. I wasn’t a big fan of the crumbled tofu on top, I like it more when it’s cubes or slices of fried tofu.

Certainly a nice place for a ramen, downstairs on water level gives a nice view of the boats passing. The waiter is very friendly and easy going.

This place feels like a badly executed tourist trap to me. Location and interior is nice though. Ramen was ‘okay’ but nothing special, the toppings were scarce. When I asked to order after being seated for 20 minutes they told me: no, it’s been busy and they have to help other people first. Okay sure, I’ll wait. After being seated for 35 minutes (still no drink and still without a menu) I asked another staff member, seeing they were helping everybody else but me. This other staff member was surprised I didn’t order yet. Waiting for the order took another 30 minutes even though it wasn’t busy at this point. They were surprised again about me sitting there for over an hour without food at this point, but didn’t apologize or offer to compensate in any way. The only people who seemed to have a worse time than me was one of the staff members themselves ☹️👎 Next time just go to McDonalds; at least there what you see is what you get and it’ll save you some money

Our first experience with Ramen was delicious, and we had a beautiful window seat overlooking the canal. It was especially special to experience it this way during SAIL. We had to wait a bit to get a table because we hadn't made a reservation, but that was our own fault. The food was definitely worth the wait!

We didn't have a reservation and had to wait a bit... but the wait was more than worth it. The service is excellent... our food was delivered very quickly, and our ramen was truly delicious. It's all very small and cramped, but the food is great.

Apart from the gorgeous location and the great staff the food in this place is amazing. I had the Tantanmen ramen and could have swallowed another bowl of it. We were seated downstairs which just added to the experience. Definitely going back for more before the easyjet home.

Was there exactly at 17:00. Got a table at the window looking out to the canal. Ordered the Jasmin ice thee. As a side dish tokayaki and main dish the special vatten ramen. Everything tastes good. The Jasmin ice thee is very refreshing and not too sweet. The tokayaki was done just right. The ramen was good, especially the broth. Honest food that is made with care that you can taste.

Such a cute place with cute decor. Staff are very kind and accomodating. The ramen was so good - I actually gulped it down so fast. I had the black Tantanmen ramen and an Oolong iced tea.

Wanted to try something new with Ramen. We got a nice seat at the canal and all of the staff were very friendly. Our serviceman the fried chicken is very good so we tried it. Starter was Tokiyaki, which were insanely good! And some Edamame. Main was fried chicken rice bowl. What should i say, the chicken was the best i have ever eaten! And the homemade sauce was insane too. We will 100% come back when in Amsterdam

We were very unsure of what to order since it was a first time. We got help from the waiter named Telmo and the whole experience was pleasant. Totally satisfied with the food we ordered: special vatten ramen and tan-tan men . Highly recommended. The waiter speaks Portuguese as well . It was very helpful.

Truly highly recommended. The restaurant is right on the canals, near Central Station, a 5-minute walk. Like almost anywhere in Amsterdam, forget about the car. It's better to walk. The food is excellent, the service is unbeatable, and they are very helpful. Everything they offer is spectacular. We won't be returning to Amsterdam anytime soon, but if we do, we'll definitely be back. Thank you for such delicious food. Congratulations.

I enjoyed this ramen spot so much, I went there for dinner two nights in a row! The location is stunning, right by the canal, which makes for a lovely dining atmosphere. The ramen was consistently delicious — rich, flavorful broth and fresh ingredients. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality and setting. It’s a popular place, so I’d definitely recommend booking in advance. Can’t wait to visit again!

Popped in for dinner during a stay in Amsterdam this weekend and adored the simple style of the restaurant, along with some interesting choices on the menu. I had the homemade Oolong Iced Tea which, in the heat of the day was amazingly refreshing. Then the chicken karaage starter with a yuzu and black sesame sauce on the side - I'm not a big fan of karaage on the bone so was delighted with the chicken thighs used, and lovely crunchy batter. The star of the meal (the lovely staff aside) was the seasonal Hiyashi Chuka cold ramen. Guided to mix to coat the noodles and toppings in the lovely soy and yuzu dressing which sits at the base of the bowl, the fresh toppings combine with the noodles to be the perfect meal when it's 28 degrees and muggy outside. My new favourite ramen spot in Amsterdam, thank you Team Vatten Zeedijk

The Ramen restaurant is located in the Chinatown (Asian) district at the canal. Do not let this rather small and packed place discourage you from stepping in and having one of the best oriental soups in the neighbourhood. It offers a wide range of ramens with special offers that you will be recommended when being served. I had the Vatten Ramen. It was a delicious and very subtle chicken ramen. Did I mention that you can have your soup with a view over the canal? Have a look at the photo posted and enjoy your meal! If you decide to visit the place, it is better to book a table. I came right after it opened and it was already half-full.

Went in at 11.56, waiter told me to wait outside for four minutes. I explained that it was raining outside so what was the big deal to wait 4 minutes inside. He said "I can't help you". The hell kind of dick move is that? No one was inside and I came alone. Real shame, considering they have pretty amazing ramen. I've been to this place several times before and everybody was real nice, pity that "hospitality" of this one individual reflects on the rest of the nice people who work there. EDIT - Appreciate your response. Will visit again when i get a chance, but I will not say it was me. Don't want any compensation or anything, just hope for better reception. A great spot to enjoy ramen! The menu is interesting and diverse, with good options for vegetarians. The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the canals, although window seats are limited. It's usually not too crowded, so you can often find a table without a reservation. There's also a second floor for additional seating. As for the ramen: the non-vegetarian options can be a bit too fatty for some tastes. By default, only chicken is offered, but you can customize your bowl with other meats. All ramens have a signature marinated egg, which adds a nice touch. Overall, I’d recommend this place.!

We visited VATTEN RAMEN Zeedijk yesterday, and I’m happy to share my impressions with you. The location is lovely—especially if you’re seated downstairs near the water. We were lucky enough to have that view, which made for a pretty unique atmosphere (at least for two of us). The service, however, left something to be desired. A group of young Dutch guys were running the floor, and while friendly enough, they didn’t really listen carefully: one dish was brought out twice instead of our actual order. Water was served in simple glasses (no carafe), and one of the waiters spilled some without even noticing or cleaning up. On a more positive note, the food presentation was nicely done. I had the SPECIAL VATTEN Ramen, which came with a creamy texture and a layer of foam on top—visually appealing. The chicken could’ve used more flavor, though. As a starter, we tried the miso-glazed eggplant, which stood out as one of the better versions I’ve had in Amsterdam.

I ordered the Vegan Special Ramen. I was greeted by a very kind and patient member of staff and given plenty of time to consider my options. The food was prepared in a timely manner and tasted amazing. Ingredients were carefully selected and complimented eachother well, as well as having great contrast to deliver a balanced and refreshing dish with a variety of textures that provided a rich dining experience. I would happily come here again!
