Vegan Curry's - plantbased Indian food in De Weteringschans

The food was good, but we waited for over 3 hours (!!) to get our delivery. Called multiple times and every time they said they "just finished preparing" our food and were waiting for the delivery guy. No compensation whatsoever. Not worth the wait.

***Please be aware ***Had a nightmare ordering dal tadka from uber eats .. literally waiting for 2.45 hr for a order to be delivered for a simple dish like dal tadka , and the worst part is after waiting for such a long period what i got was half cooked dal with cold rice which was not fit for edible, waste of time money and such a shameful restro with an indian name making fools around here in amsterdam

The food was okay, it was a bit too spicy and greasy for my taste, but nice taste. But the hygiene… my god. The toilet was disgusting! I really needed to go… so I hang above the toilet… and the service… We had to wait so long to get the vegan menu and waited so long for our food. :-(

even though the delivery was absolutely shocking AND we both found the Mild we ordered to be very hot 🔥 🥵AND the "mango lassi" was pitiful, yuck, and not the advertised size!) I still feel you deserve 5 stars!! the seitan you use or make? is amazing and you get plenty of it drowning in that gorgeous curry sauce 😋 well done team!! and still hot when it arrived!

Eating there was a great experience, I love Indian food but I never ate Indian food so good like there

I ordered vegan seekh kebab, vegan butter chicken, vegan garlic cheesy naan, and vegan keema naan. I've always loved vegan seekh kebab, and this time it was delivered sliced! I also loved the keema naan! The garlic cheesy naan wasn't filled with cheese, and I'm not sure if it even had cheese on it... There might have been a miscommunication between me and the person who called me after I placed the order, and I contacted them to change it. I found the butter chicken too sweet, but I've never tasted the original, so maybe that's how it's supposed to be? I placed my order so that I would pay cash at the door. Since I made a mistake online and luckily received a call from the restaurant right away, I was able to change my order: I added the vegan butter chicken. I asked for the total because it would cost more; the total was about 40 euros plus some change. Because of this, I had to go outside to get some money and wasn't back when the delivery driver arrived. I explained to him that I was getting cash, and he said he understood. Then I got a call from the restaurant saying I didn't have the money and that he was going back. When I explained that I was almost back and that I could definitely give him some extra money for the wait, they said he might not have fully understood and was coming back. Fully prepared to give him a €5 tip, I was handed a receipt that suddenly showed €48. Shocked, I paid it, but now that I've calculated everything, it should have only been €35, excluding delivery, but that's not €13 either. I don't think it's really okay...

Great vegan food, however this is not a restaurant; it's an alternative menu for Bollywood Indian Restaurant. I initially received the non-vegan menu since I was not aware of this.

The food was extremely tasty and it was overall an amazing experience! I ordered one time and ate there 2 times. The plantbased chicken in the butter chicken is delicious and the sauce is also so yummy. The lentils curry also was excellent! The vegan snack platter also was amazing. Also, the vegan mango lassi was so delicious. It was very tasty and had a perfect consistency, even though it is vegan. The portions were rather big and very filling and the waiters also were very friendly. I really do not understand all the bad reviews, I really cannot complain about this amazing vegan restaurant. The Vegan Indian really is a must-eat in Amsterdam and I can only recommend it!

Really great food at The Vegan Indian! The vegan butter chicken was super tasty, and the lentil curry was also really good. Loved that they had vegan lassi and naan too! I honestly don’t get the bad reviews, because everything we tried was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. I just wish they would open a location in my city — I’d be there all the time!

Waited more than 2 hours to get my food. The worst part is that Uber Eats doesn’t even let me place a review. The food itself wasn’t that bad but after 2 hours that doesn’t really matter anymore. Never again (neither this restaurant or Uber Eats)

Biggest rip off restaurant in Amsterdam. I pay €33.40 for 300 ml of water from a plastic bottle (it was served to me without a glass), mango lassi, garlic naan and an eggplant curry (just costs €20)!! Way too expensive! There are apparently a lot of vegan dishes here, which is good in itself, but I don't know what the quality is and whether they are really vegan.... In any case, my curry was too spicy. :( The waitress was ok but a bit present and didn't have good English.... People better add falafel to Maoz

The food delivery arrived 70 minutes late, by then the food was already half cold. After I heated it, it tasted pretty ok.

The resturant operates under several shell names online such as vegan curry's and several others on food platforms. The plant based dishes all taste the same no difference between masala or roghan gosht. I dinned in restaurant , and was tricked online by the disguising resturant name as if it is another business! When dinned in the restaurant, it took more than one hour for my order to be served! The place was not that clean and the bathroom and upstairs was a mess. The waiter's finger was in my dish , and by the time i left , i smelled like a kitchen. The food had sugar , not much spiciness, and everything has extra oil , even the nan! This business thrives by ticking people on having a vegan restaurant inside a none vegan restaurant, judging by the food received and quality of food , this fake flavor indian resturant is better off calling itself Filipino for the amount of sugar in the vegan dishes , and very german for the spice less curry that needs tobasco to make it spicy, and Indonesian for the amount of oil in the rice! If you value , respect , appreciate vegan indian cuisine ... Then don't waste your time with this " restaurant"

I was craving some Indian food and had heard this place had vegan options. The food: nothing exciting on the menu and definately over priced. €6 for a vegan mango lassi and €18 for a vegan starter platter? The mango lassi looked around 200ml - 250ml And the vegan platter was a terrible mistake. The samosas were plain stuffed with potato and the pakoras were boring. I was also given one measly slice of tomato and two slices of cucumber, alone with a little mango chutney. A very underwhelming experience and below average food. Would I go back? Certainly not. My original intention was to go to The Vegan Temple Bar which is located on the same street, around 25 metres away... and I wish I did now. Spent €25 ish and have nothing good to say about the food. The atmosphere is a very generic "indian" feel to it with no real feature or individuality. The kitchen staff are very loud and if you are a punjabi speaker, you will quickly learn that the kitchen not only prepares mediocre food... but also have a keen tendency to use the most foul language you'll ever hear in Punjabi. If I had my family with me, I'd definitely have gone back into the kitchen to complain about the swearing 🤬 Very disrespectful language from the kitchen staff. It is embarrassing to see a man with a turban use such language, I am ashamed on behalf of the sikh community. No one should have to hear such disgusting and foul conversations, especially from unprofessional kitchen staff.

The delivery took a while but instead it was really delicious and the food was properly warm.

Very cozy and in the city centre, perfect for a a stop while visiting the city. We've been welcomed and served very politely, they were very kind and the food was delicious! Definitely would go back

We waited very long for our food to arrive, called three times and they said every time it’s ten minutes away. The food was cold and net very tasteful. The flavors were bland. I would not recommend.

Upon entering it turned out that they are not a vegan restaurant, they only have a separate menu with vegan dishes. We ordered two main courses that we waited over an hour for. We ordered butter paneer but got butter tofu. When the basket with naan was put on the table, some of it fell on the floor: we never received new ones for this (and paid €8 for it). In short: the 2 dishes tasted fine, but the service was not that good.

Very good Indian food! Smelly and hazy inside, very dirty toilet and floor maybe not cleaned from previous day...

However the food arrives, it will be cold and too late. We had to order from elsewhere so my friend and I could eat before they had to catch a train. For reference, I ordered at 16:23 and it is now 17:50 and no sign of my order. Jokes on me for not checking Google reviews before ordering from Uber Eats. It says 30-45 minutes delivery time, but it does NOT say that there is no visibility over delivery progress since they use their own delivery people, or that they simply do not pick up the phone. AVOID 🔥 🗑️ 🔥

We ordered food but it came super late. They kept telling me on the phone that it was coming, but that took a long time. Fortunately the food was very tasty in the end.

Tasty Indian vegan food. The portions are quite big for 1 person. Be careful when asking for good to be really hot though, as the chef is Indian and the food would absolutely be the hottest you’ve ever tasted! Still super delicious, but might be hard to finish!

DO NOT ORDER HERE!!!! Took almost THREE HOURS for the food to arrive (cold!). Absolutely no respect for their clients whatsoever. Two small children crying because it took so long and they needed to go to bed. The restaurant doesn't call, you have to figure out yourself that you're being screwed over, after also waiting endlessly while the line is busy. Their robotically repeated excuse is that it is really busy but the true greedy reality is that they keep taking orders while they can't handle it. Shameful!!

There’s limit to one’s patience. we love the food, ordered many times. but the overly long delivery time is screaming bad management of this place and i think the wait start to become less and less worthy over time and, meanwhile, there are many other excellent indian places to order from. we sincerely hope the owner will take a notice and do something differently if they want stay in this competition. Reference, i ordered the food at 5 pm, sunday, now it’s past 8 im still waiting and their phone line is always busy. and this happens literally every time.

Do NOT order! They deliver with extreme delays and do not pick up the phone. Food is good, but you will have no idea when it will be delivered.

I am so glad we stopped at The Vegan Indian Restaurant on our trip to Amsterdam! The vegan menu is massive (and VERY clearly stated vegan, despite what some reviews say..), and the food and drinks are delicious. We got Dal Tharka, Butter Chicken, Paneer Vindaloo and naan all to share and they made us a vegan Drunk Lassi (minus the Bailey's!) Our servers were so friendly and good to us, I highly recommend visiting if you are vegan!

It’s a shame that I have to write this, but you have lost me as a customer. I have ordered before and I love the food, but the delivery took over 2 hours. The uber eats account says that the food gets delivered in 35 mins. I called 2 times. The third time I couldn’t even get someone on the phone. when the food finally arrived, everything was cold. This was a very bad experience and I won’t order again.

Lots of vegan options, food was warm and delicious. When it came to Nan bread, it wasn't communicated that everything was put in a bowl, we ordered 2x portions. This caused some confusion. Unfortunately not everything is vegan. But we'd still like to come back.

Beware of scam! You lure the customer on TheFork with a nice discount. You make sure not to validate the reservation, so you will not be able to leave a message on the site. And yes, as if the customer had not come! And, at the time of the bill, you announce that only the main dishes are affected by the promotion. But from where?! You add to that a boss (well, I assumed it was him) as friendly as a prison door and an apologetic waitress (poor thing). I felt a “little” discomfort. Finally, and having tried other Indian restaurants, the cuisine is average, a little too fatty, without much taste. In short, to flee, even to denounce!!

We had dinner with 6 ppl. I was skeptical about vegan food but to my surprise it was very delicious. We enjoyed a lot the food and the talking during the dinner. The portion each dish seems small but they are kinda heavy. I am full.

La única respuesta que ofrecería: Creo que son los repartidores sentados en las mesas del restaurante afuera esperando que lleguen los pedidos (lo cual está bien) pero hablar por teléfono con el volumen WAY UP realmente mató el ambiente. Si pudieran hacerlo fuera del teléfono del altavoz, eso podría mejorar la experiencia del comensal.

I never write reviews, but today I decide to share my dissatisfaction to warn others and avoid disappointment. I have been ordering from Vegan Curry's regularly for years, because it is so tasty! But again and again with so much frustration. The wait is so long every time (take into account a whole hour and often longer), but tonight took the cake; Waited 2 hours and 10 minutes even though I placed my order at 5:00 PM to avoid the crowds. Really scandalous! And when you call them, they take the phone off the receiver so you can't reach them. Unfortunately the curry was not tasty this time either. The tofu was very chewy, did not taste fresh. A really big disappointment. I won't order from here again. It's not worth the wait...

Today we waited almost 3 hours (!!!) for our food without any communication, bizarre (when you call the food is always 'on its way'). I have ordered twice before and the delivery time went well. The food is tasty, but for us it is the last time we order here, back to Namaste India. My advice to the restaurant: do not take orders if you cannot handle the crowds and communicate with your customers in a timely manner. Of course it can be extra busy and mistakes can happen, but don't take orders for a while and make sure that you communicate honestly and well with customers about this. Not professional to make people wait hours for their food.

This is easily my #1 place to order from. I love their curries and all the options they offer for vegans. I haven't seen most of the options veganized anywhere else. Please keep going 💖 The only requests are to offer non-soy meat alternatives and clearly label allergens in the ordering websites 🙏

Very very dissapointed! Waited 3 hours to get our food delivered. We needed to call several times to ask when the food would be delivered. They never called, no communication, no refund, no service, nothing! Very very bad service. Not worth waiting 3 hours on food.

Beware: the gentleman sells 1 + 1 free butter chicken but admits to deliberately making the portions smaller. This means that there are exactly 7 strips of vegetarian meat left. Very unfair.

Wij komen hier al een paar jaar heel graag maar niet vaak genoeg. Dit is een van de beste plekken in Amsterdam als je vegan curry wilt eten. Ze hebben écht veel keuze! (Ze hebben ook een grote niet-vegan kaart, maar de vegan gerechten zijn heel erg aan te raden voor iedereen.) De sfeer is gezellig en authentiek, met vriendelijk personeel en snelle bediening. Zelfs mijn vriendin, die niet vegan is, zegt dat dit haar favoriete restaurant is nadat ze hier 100% van de vegan kaart heeft gegeten. Ja, ze hebben een aparte vegan kaart ❤️

It is located inside bollywood indian restaurant. This is basically a sub menu of bollywood restaurant. There is no separate space. There are plenty of vegan curries here and it is located in the touristic neighbourhood of Leidseplein

We were charged for water from the tap (in the bill it was named as SPA mineral water), we waited for almost one and a half hours for our food. It was too weird.

Wow the curry’s here are amazing. We had the vegan korma and butter chicken (you need to ask for the vegan menu). With naan and sweet potato chips (good portion sizes too). Seriously good food and nice atmosphere, cocktails are great as well

Inside of restaurant Bollywood. You'll have to ask the friendly staff for their vegan menu, but the delicious food will be worth it. This is the first restaurant I've found that serves vegan/non-dairy Korma, a beloved dish I haven't had since becoming lactose-intolerant.

amazing vegan menu, missing nothing from your typical omnivore menu. we had cheesy garlic naan, butter chicken and panir (tofu) tikka masala, comes with rice. personally not a fan of the flavour of vegan cheese in the naan, but it melted well. the mock chicken was amazing, and the tofu is actually well marinated in spices of the dish. great flavour.

Ask for a vegan menu if you want to see the full vegan options as this restaurant didn't provide one until asked. Visited here on my travels to Amsterdam! I haven’t actually had a curry since I turned vegan as I haven’t found a place that does vegan korma. I was happy I found this place, it’s food was delicious and rather large portions too! Great value for money and the servers were kind. Thank you. If you are vegan or traveling with someone who is, this restaurant has a dish for everyone!

Sehr sehr lecker und absolut schöne Einrichtung leider war es nicht beheizt im Winter mussten unsere Jacken anlassen beim Essen aber bei dem tollen Essen und der liebevollen Dekoration kann man das mal in Kauf nehmen. Werde auf jeden Fall wieder kommen wenn ich wieder in Amsterdam bin.

Naja also vegan waren die meisten Gerichte nicht und es hat selbst im Restaurant alles ewig gedauert. Es war sehr lecker, aber auf Bestellungen, die nie ankommen, hab ich keine Lust

Delicious vegan food, perfectly seasoned. Unfortunately, they've stopped delivering to Amstelveen. I've ordered before and it was amazing so I'd love to order there again. I'd be happy to make a large order and unlike most of the reviewers here, I wouldn't mind waiting for a couple of hours! PLEASE COME BACK TO AMSTELVEEN !!!

Have ordered too many times, and have had to wait for 1.5 minimum each time. This time it's taking them 2.5 hours! Without even giving us that information that they're getting delayed. I don't think I would have the patience for this anymore. If you have a lot of time to wait for your food and are not hungry, you can go for it. If not, avoid them.

Het eten was fantastisch! We hebben de vegan snackplater op, een garlic "cheese" naan, vegan mango lassie, de vegan chicken vindaloo curry en de vegan butter paneer curry. Het was allemaal heerlijk! Zo fijn om als vegan van goede kwaliteit curries te eten. Als je van indisch eten houdt moet je hier zijn.

Absolutely fantastic! I just had lunch here today and it had the best vegan Indian dishes I've ever had! The fact that it is fully vegan made it even better. So many options, such a variety, it was such a pleasure. Everyone was very kind and friendly and kept checking on us, so it was really a great experience. I will definitely come back here!
