Vegan Sushi Bar in Van Lennepbuurt

I dined at this restaurant twice while visiting Amsterdam, and my experiences couldn't have been more different. The first time, the food was absolutely amazing—crispy, flavorful, and far beyond my expectations. However, on my second visit, it was the complete opposite: soggy, overly oily, and completely tasteless. I was so disappointed that I had to leave most of it behind. It's hard to believe that the same dish could vary so drastically in quality. Given that a meal for two costs over €50, the inconsistency makes it feel like a gamble. If you're lucky, you might get a fantastic meal, but if not, you’ll regret spending that much. Eat at your own risk! Thus 3 star review.

Some of the best vegan sushi I’ve had, and the gyozas were outstanding too. Would have been a five star visit, but just as we were about to get up and leave a huge silverfish appeared out of nowhere and crawled about on our table which was pretty gross - not the staff’s fault but maybe a cleanliness issue.

The restaurant is very clean and organized, with a defined and thoughtful style. You order with a QR code system that sends the order directly to the staff in a very quick and intuitive way. Absolutely delicious vegan sushi. Definitely can recommend the combo option with beverage, side and 8pc sushi and a dessert. The wings (mushrooms) are amazing and the sushi tastes even better than the stunning look it comes with. A must visit if you have the chance.

A small shop with a good selection of vegan sushi and ramen. It's a bit on the expensive side: we had the Signature Roll 'Mighty Mushrooms' for about 17 euros and Spicy Miso Tonkatsu Ramen for about 18 euros. Both dishes were top-notch. You could taste the high quality. The service was impeccable. Would love to go again!

Tasty sushi, quite pricey (48 euros for 3x8 pieces). Cozy decor and friendly staff. What I always find annoying is ordering via an app. In addition, I don't like it when payment is set in such a way that the first options are the highest tip (too pushy), questions are skipped.

First visit at this vegan sushi bar and I was pleasantly surprised! Excellent presentation and very tasty sushi and faux chicken wings (made of oyster mushrooms). The home made ice tea was also very nice! Highly recommended and will be back for more.

The fake meat/fish is really bluffing! Everything tasted good and you can tell the sushi are made with care and a touch of creativity. You won’t be disappointed! On top of that the service was good 👌🏻

3.5 stars. After getting so much recommendations for this place we finally gave in to our excitement and visited Vegan Sushi Bar. Entering the small restaurant in a busy street in West, we waited to be seated by the staff. Except this didn't happen, they shouted at us from the kitchen to take a seat. We ordered drinks and food using the QR-code after waiting too long to be served. We could see that the takeaway orders were getting a lot of priority. The first round of food, the tokoyaki balls and the Bao buns, came before we even had our drinks. When the sushi arrived we asked again for our drinks, and they confirmed our suspicion that the order had been forgotten. They were made on the spot. The food was mouthwatering. We wanted to try several items on the menu and started out with the octopus balls and the bao buns. The Tokoyaki balls were extremely rich in flavour, unlike any other vegan "meat"balls I've ever tried. I could have eaten three portions of it! The Bao buns were nothing unique, but definitely as good as expected. The sushi blew our mind. By accident we had ordered three rolls instead of two, but we did not regret that at all. Speechless but moaning out of pleasure we enjoyed our Green Miso, Mighty Mushroom and Shrimpless Tempura Crunch rolls. We unanimously thought it was the best sushi we've ever tried in our life. Every bite was a journey of different layers of texture and flavour. The sushi was not only very tasty, but also visually attractive, contributing to a delicate experience for all senses. The dessert we ordered, a matcha tiramisu, was a bit too much. Even though the Matcha taste was far away, the dish was allright. The portion size in combination with the dense consistency made us feel a bit nauseous however. If you want to get blown away by an extraordinary sushi experience, reserve your spot at Vegan Sushi Bar. The reason for my 3.5 stars is that the place felt like a takaway restaurant with some tables on the side. Delivery drivers were entering and leaving all the time, passing frequently by our table bringing the cold from outside. The sushi is of such artistry that it alone carries the whole restaurant, but hospitality wise they have still a lot to improve. This however is definitely not a reason to not come back. I will and I will recommend it like we were.

We just happened to be here and were absolutely thrilled! the best vegan sushi ever and the bao buns were to die for. The matcha yuzu lemonade was also great. The price is quite high but unfortunately that is the case everywhere in Amsterdam. we would come back immediately :)

I had such an amazing experience here. I ordered the menu and I could choose 1 entrance + main plate + dessert + drink and it was about 29€, what I think is doable for special occasions or if you are really craving sushi, but I must say it is completely worth the price because everything was SO GOOD! The atmosphere was super chill and warm, and the California Crispy Roll is simply amazing! So crunchy and the spiciness is perfect! The miso soup was a big hug on a rainy day, and to top off, the Passion fruit with Mango mochi is divine! I had a calm lunch and took some time there just appreciating the cozy atmosphere and good food. I recommend it and wish it keep that way! 🌱

An absolute gem of a restaurant. We got the green miso, mighty mushroom, flambé salmon, cucumber and avocado maki, gyozas and miso soup. The salmon and green miso were the best. My fiancé that eats meat loves this place.

The sushi was really delicious. We had the no chicken teriyaki, shrimp-less tempura crunch, salmon & avocado maki and spicy tuna maki, all very good. The sushi gets its beautiful purple color by mixing white and black rice.

This place has been on our wishlist for a long time and finally we decided to give it a try. We loved every single moment of it. Food is delicious, good in taste and also good for the soul since it is 100% vegan. We order 2 combo deals, highly recommended. These consist of 1 main roll, 1 side dish, 1 home made drink and 1 dessert. The Flambe “Salmon” Roll and the Green Miso Rolls were outstanding, crunchy and so full of flavours. Service was helpful and friendly. Give it a try and it will not disappoint you. We will definitely be back next weekend!

I’ve never been a huge sushi fan even before I went vegan, had tried other vegan sushi places before but was never impressed. We shared rolls with a friend and both the salmon and the miso tofu were delicious! You order via a QR code which is super practical. Would definitely recommend it

Just got a Too Good to Go box here that was indicated as worth 25€, I paid 8,50€, and the amount of food was small and it was kinda bland. Would not buy again

It is tiny place, the bar chair is a bit uncomfortable to sit and enjoy the food. We ordered full moon sushi plater. Finally a sushi place with fresh Wasabi. Our fav. Is the no shrimp and also the crunchy mushrooms. Matcha Tiramisu could be stronger matcha flavor. I believe it is better for them to not wear gloves at all. Touching the food, touch the Maschine, clean the table and even moving the boxes from the floor with the same glove is bit wild. Or just wear gloves when make the food

Hands down the best vegan sushi I’ve had. Waiting staff were attentive despite it being a busy service and gave us some other great recommendations for the city. Even if you’re not vegan. Try this place! Would recommend the funghi, gyoza and seaweed side

I thought the food was very tasty and I love that it's vegan. My favorite was the teriyaki "chicken" sushi and the happy "fish" sushi. The Wasabi was fresh and not the neon green paste you usually get. I got the yuzu tea as well, which was nice. I thought the takoyaki balls were close to the original, except it was fried but still very tasty. The only thing I didn't like was the mushroom sushi but that's my preference. However I will 100% go again next time I'm in Amsterdam and definitely worth it.

Always a success: our favorite! We have been to the Vegan Sushi Bar countless times, and it remains our favorite every time. Our regular menu consists of the Gyoza, Takoyaki Balls and the No Chicken Teriyaki Roll, and it never disappoints. The Gyoza is deliciously filled and perfectly flavored with a thin crunch, with an extra kick from the chili oil. The crunch of the chili and garlic completes it completely. The Takoyaki Balls are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a delicious sauce that completes the dish. The No Chicken Teriyaki Roll remains a permanent favorite for us. The combination of textures, the warm crunchy "chicken" and the perfectly balanced flavors make it a pleasure every time. A big plus is the fresh wasabi, which, in combination with the powdered wasabi in the rolls, gives a delicious extra dimension to the taste. The desserts are also absolutely recommended. Although the matcha affogato is unfortunately no longer on the menu, it is highly recommended. The tiramisu and mochi balls are also delicious and a perfect ending to the meal. In short, we keep coming back here for one reason: the food is phenomenal. We hope that the quality we appreciate so much remains constant, so that we can enjoy our favorites for a long time to come! *Unfortunately, the last few times we noticed that the Takoyaki was smaller and softer than before. Hopefully this was a one-off, because this dish is normally one of the highlights. There was also significantly less chili oil and sauce in the Gyoza. We noticed that lately the rolls are no longer rolled as tightly as before, which is a shame for the experience. We very much hope that the quality and consistency of our favorite restaurant remains as we are used to.

First time trying vegan sushi and all options sounded appetising. The reality was that it was better than expected. We ordered bao crunchy no-chicken and 2 sushi options of "tuna" and shrimpless. The mochis were also very good. I'd definitely recommend it

I repeat from another review - the best sushi we have ever eaten. So good that we ate there twice during our short trip. The price was certainly high, but it was worth it. Be sure to reserve in advance as it is very small.

We ordered the macha, no chicken teriyaki and flambe salmon and oh boy did we have a great time with them. The macha was perfectly balanced in flavour, the sushi took us both on a journey leaving us wanting more...so we got the tiramisu! The flavours were inventive, warming and coherent. Using a hollowed out cucumber for the wasabi was an inspired choice that left us smiling, too. A definite must try if you're vegan and enjoy high quality sushi.

Wij hebben echt heerlijk gegeten. De vegan kip smaakte naar kip en de vegan shrimps naar garnaal. Je krijgt van de meeste sushi 8 stukken. Het zou fijner zijn wanneer je ook kunt kiezen voor 4 stukken, dan kun je meer variëren. Iets meer keuze voor soorten drinken, zou ook prettiger zijn. Nu was er te weinig keuze en zijn we voor water en thee gegaan. Hoewel het echt heerlijk was, vond ik het wel erg duur. Voor 1 volwassene, een kind van 10 en een puber van 16, heb ik 102 euro betaald. Toch best prijzig.

this place is hands down amazing!! fried oyster mushrooms for starters, followed with the green miso roll and flambe salmon. Devoured both and refreshed with hibiscus ice tea and matcha yuzu lemonade (this one is my absolute fav). And for dessert we had matcha tiramisu which we loved because it wasn’t too sweet. Super tasty. Loved the flavours and although I’m not vegan I didn’t miss at all the real salmon or shrimps. Not cheap compared to your average sushi joint but happy to have paid a bit more for great quality sushi, intentional packaging and a surprisingly generous amount of pickled ginger and wasabi. The food was really good, but my server was soooo rude! She put on a fake smile, but when asking questions and for assistance she rolled her eyes, threw her body around, and slammed things down. I could not believe that she was doing behaving like this and all because I had a question. If you don’t want to deal with people and work then go home. Don’t make your bad day someone else’s. For that I would not recommend coming to this restaurant.

Was not worth the money quite frankly. The food relied on it's saltiness rather than it's flavour. If the dishes were €10 I wouldn't complain but considering the price I expect better

Food is good, but we found a blue piece in one maki which looked like some kind of plastic packaging for the vegan salmon. I give overall 3 stars as they have been very nice and accommodating, and they also removed that dish from the bill for us. Apart from that, we liked the food and it is definitely a good deal if you’re craving for vegan sushi!

As a vegan that mainly visited Amsterdam to try all the great restaurants here, I was really disappointed by this place. Expensive and bland. The octopus balls just tasted like mashed potato! Flambéed salmon sounded exciting but there was no caramelised or smokey flavour, so don't know why they did it. Also they don't serve alcohol which is a mild annoyance. Matcha tiramisu is a good idea but Again a bit flat

WOW the food here was so delicious!! I got the fried “chicken” made with oyster mushrooms as an appetizer and the shrimpless tempura, the mushroom speciality roll and the salmon and miso glazed tofu maki rolls. I was impressed with the amazing flavours and textures, I left here feeling very satisfied. My favourites were the fried chicken and the shrimpless tempura. The service was friendly and very quick, and the decor of the restaurant was cute. If I lived here I would go here often!
