The presentation is truly a feast for the eyes, from the refined fish dishes to the passion fruit desserts. Everything tasted equally fresh and pure. I found the plating in the oyster shells to be a particularly fantastic detail. We will certainly be back here soon.

I am very disappointed. I found out that their kitchen opening hours vary by day. When I arrived, the kitchen was already closed. Even though the opening hours on the internet stated they were open, including the kitchen!

This restaurant is a truly excellent recommendation. The food (cod with lobster sauce, a wild herb salad, and fries) was delicious and presented with great attention to detail. Wednesdayafternoon , 13:30 , dying for some good seafood with some champagne and driving trough Kralingen Rotterdam at the oude dijk and making a pitstop at Vis op de dijk a local small restaurant owned by the same owners as cafe de kloeg , also in Kralingen . Ordered two glasses of champagne , good one , fish and chips , bisque , eel on toast and a shrimp cocktail . In the end the portions were good and the taste lived up to what I could expect . Total costs ? €105,- plus tip €25,- = € 130,- A happy customer who will return !

The lady running the restaurant was annoyed that we pointed out that 6 seats were too few for a reservation of 7; this was handled well with a table rearrangement, but otherwise the evening went wonderfully and smoothly.

They had empty tables, but even though there was no reservation sign, they said it was full. It's a place that chooses its customers.

I have enjoyed myself multiple times at this Rotterdam fish restaurant in a small pre-war corner building. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service – even though the kitchen can sometimes struggle to keep up. I don't make a fuss about it, because truly everything that appears on the table is first-class. Without exception, super fresh fish and shellfish, in creative combinations – such as the lunch dish full of surprising flavors. High-end, then, but above all, typically Rotterdam. Perfection without fussiness. Here, you don't have to be ashamed to order fries on the side – they are actually really tasty, too. Fish isn't cheap, and good fish certainly isn't. But here, you get your money's worth in spades. Had a meal there again AFTER A WHILE. Still just as good and tasty as the previous times. For me, VodD has become a firm favorite!

Fantastic kibbeling, grilled flatfish, and zucchini tempura, likely the best we had in recent years. Kibbeling is fresh and jiucy with crispy, not-oily coating. Sashimi plate is very good, scallop is sweet, salmon and white fish need no almost soy sauce, tuna has a bit blood flavor but not fishy. Flatfish is grilled perfect, though it could be accompanied with some sauce, but current setting preserves much umami. Note, the restaurant is pretty traditional, meaning super friendly staff and quality cutlery, but phone reservation only and lack of handheld POS machine.

On the first truly warm summer evening of 2026, we had a delicious meal (and drinks) at Vis op de Dijk. Friendly and pleasant service and very good value for money. We will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

We were spending the weekend in Rotterdam , coming from Antwerp and looking for a fish restaurant. This one came up with a great comment . It is cosy. It was fabulous ! We both had * sole * excellent choice. The waitress was superb, friendly and very efficient. She made our evening. We will come back again. Retuned today, 19 April 2026, and Miriam actually remembered us. She is amazing, the food is amazing, and we will now be coming once a month as this is our favourite fish restaurant, even though we live in Antwerp, this is our go to seafood restaurant. Absolutely worth the trip from Antwerp anytime and Miriam is truly special and fabulous. My partner and I adore her!!!!

They serve kibbeling (cod) in the style of English fish & chips, which was incredibly delicious. They bring the sole fried. That was also good. They served the shrimp, which they call Gammas, in a garlic and olive oil sauce, which was a unique presentation and delicious. The salad was absolutely fantastic. And of course, we can't say anything negative about their wine. In short, it's an ideal place to try different flavors with a fresh fish menu and have a pleasant evening.

They do something special with their dishes, and you can taste it. Unfortunately, no Wi-Fi.

A lovely restaurant in Rotterdam with fish and seafood on the menu. We had lunch on the dike. A complete lunch with fish soup, salmon, tuna, shrimp, and kibbeling. Everything was very tasty.

On Christmas Day, I placed a pickup order. The order included fish and chips, shrimp croquettes, and kibbeling (fried fish and chips). Vis op de Dijk even included baguettes and the accompanying salads as a compliment. The food is simply delicious. Shrimp croquettes, where the ragout really tastes like shrimp; I assume the ragout is made with a good fish stock. The fries taste like potatoes, are thickly cut, and crispy (not sticky or soft). The fish? Deliciously flavorful and not overly salty. A lovely crispy coating around the fish, which I think is panko. In short: I recommend Vis op de Dijk. They're doing their very best to serve fantastic food during the lockdown. Lovely people. I'll definitely be back soon.

Delicious dishes, super fresh 👍

First of all, the food was good and the service was excellent, but it wasn't until we were paying that we discovered the extractor fan was broken. As a result, our clothes smelled of fried fish, and I had to wash everything, including our coats. We were lucky they could go in the washing machine, as dry cleaning would have been more expensive. I wish I had known this beforehand! It was also incredibly hot in the restaurant. We were sitting upstairs, and it was too hot. We couldn't open a window because the glass would have fallen out... Eating out becomes very unpleasant then, especially if you have to pay full price... €200 for two people.

I didn't really want to write a super positive review because then everyone would come to this restaurant, and I might have to make reservations far in advance, but they deserve it as a team. I come here very regularly, and this is truly my favorite. Special compliments to all the people who consistently prepare this delicious food with so much enthusiasm and love, and you can taste it!

A little outside the center, but definitely worth the trip. Unique and cozy. I would go back with great pleasure. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cooking was perfectly executed, and the prices were entirely in line with the portions. Everything is fresh and made to order. A good meal, good wine, and good music. The perfect combination. Nothing but positive things to say.

Amazing experience. Came to celebrate friend's birthday. Everyone were very attentive and helpful. We got 2 children with us and they were given the color pencils and some paper to occupy themselves. The food was simply divine. The octopus soft and fresh, the mussels having just the right amount of garlic in the sauce. Fantastic. Definitely will come back.

Always delicious fish, always pleasant

This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Rotterdam. Not fancy. On a good day, you’re able to sit on the sidewalk and enjoy the weather and people walking by. Service it’s much better than most of the Dutch restaurants if I may say.

Fantastic fresh fish, delicious shrimp in spicy garlic oil, friendly, cheerful service, and a cozy atmosphere. The inimitable dessert with pistachio ice cream and white chocolate mousse is fantastic. The only downside: the music, which doesn't really match the atmosphere. We hope this restaurant can maintain its unique, local bistro vibe. And that the prices don't rise any further.

Lovely spot, delicious side dishes: the tempura asparagus and zucchini. I thought the mussels were a bit subpar and of poor quality, and a bit too salty. But otherwise, a delicious lunch. Great service, enjoyed it!

Food was good, but very stressed manager, which made him unfriendly and therefore not a relaxed atmosphere. No desire to stay long or have dessert/coffee. Friends from the neighborhood were treated unfairly, because they pulled up a chair. Very unfortunate, and missed opportunity. Unprofessional.

A wonderful discovery, this fish restaurant is located away from the city center. Beautiful setting. The fish soup was delicious, and the tuna was excellent, cooked to perfection with a delicious sweet and savory sauce. To finish, we shared the lemon tart.

This has been our favorite restaurant for years, but unfortunately there is an employee who is disrespectful and despicable in dealing with customers. Unfortunately we lost our favorite restaurant due to a rude employee!!!!!!

Coming from Asia we are quite picky when it comes to seafood. Now after staying in NL for over 3 years, trying a lot of different seafood restaurants, this is the best seafood I’ve had!! The kibbeling was the best. It had a light but still crispy batter, super amazing. The garlic shrimps went so well with the bread. The calamari’s were crunchy, loved the sauces it came with. Only the fish soup was a bit salty for me. This place is definitely to be bookmarked!!

I've wanted to go there for some time. The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly. The service was nice and friendly, but we had a new one that was possible and it didn't work out that way yet. I was disappointed with the food It wasn't what I heard. Too dry tongue, too bad. The price, on the other hand, was quite reasonable. No, not my restaurant. There was an error in the bill. We called about it the other day. They wouldn't call back anyway.

Had dinner here with a friend on Saturday January 25. She chose the fish stew, I chose the cod fillet with a lobster sauce. Both the fish pot and the cod fillet were well cooked and delicious. We ate delicious fries and a fresh chicory salad. For dessert I chose ice cream with nuts. I would make the nuts smaller. The service people were enthusiastic and very pleasant. Delicious wine to go with it, this restaurant is highly recommended

For the first time at Vis op de dijk. Nice place in old Kralingen. Spatial. Light. Nice and smooth service. Lots of choice of fish products. You can vary between dishes: together a starter or main course, or two. All wishes are fulfilled flexibly. Prepared with care. The chef gives a personal touch to everything. We found some dishes to be on the savory side. All in all a delicious meal.

Delicious seafood restaurant, with lovely people and homely atmosphere away from the city centre. We walked in around 7pm and the restaurant was full of families having a nice Friday dinner, so we sat at the bar counter. The shrimp cocktail was very tasty yet light. We also had the fish stew which came with a couple of slices of baguette - this was so delicious that we almost licked the plate! The staff were very attentive, and we had some lovely chats with them while we were waiting for the food. Highly recommended if you want a more authentic Dutch restaurant.

No doubt the best seafood restaurant around Rotterdam - in a laidback setting but with excellent service and highest quality food. Fish is butter soft and tastes exactly like in your dreams. Nice wines to pair with. We had oysters, fish soup, kibbeling, shrimps, seabass, black tiger prawns. Kids are welcome too!

Last Friday we had a delicious meal at this super cozy restaurant with great attentive service. We actually wanted to eat sole, but it was neatly explained to us that it was not on the menu due to the high daily price. We had the prawns in curry sauce and the whole sea bass. Super!!!

This is the place to eat fresh fish in a place with a relaxed vibe. Rotterdam is full of fish shops a dime a dozen, but this is one of the few with an inspired kitchen that works with fresh fish and is inspired.

Had dinner at this restaurant for the first time last week. We really liked it. We limited ourselves to starters. The oysters were delicious and the apple vinaigrette surprising. We also appreciated the eel on toast and the ceviche. The squid rings were perfectly cooked, but large portions. In short, a nice meal. But we had the most fun with our waiter. Food was reasonable to good, we did have to wait a long time for our dinner for the starter. (Half an hour) The mussels were lukewarm, which was a shame. Tables outside are very close together, resulting in little privacy and smoke nuisance from the "neighbors". Kitchen is not separated from the toilets nearby. That seemed unpleasant.

We came with a group of 6 and a few kids. Luckily we got a table outside in the corner which was really convenient for us. The food was delicious especially the fries were super crispy. The mussels had great flavor. Next time we will also order some bread to dip in the sauce. Because the sauce was also good. We could share all the dishes we have ordered. Excellent seafood! I had the Lunch of the Dijk for 24€ and salmon ceviche 18,50€ —both delicious and fairly priced. Paired with a nice chardonnay. Friendly waitstaff added to the experience. Be prepared to wait; my food took 45 minutes, but it was worth it. Highly recommended!
