A delicious cake and a good cappuccino at the Vlaamsch Broodhuys in Utrecht. It was excellent. The waitress Florelise was friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back here!

I recently picked up a focaccia here again, but unfortunately, it was quite disappointing this time. I have the feeling that something has changed in the recipe or the preparation. The rosemary barely smells like rosemary, and moreover, there is no salt on the focaccia, whereas for me, that combination is an important part of a good focaccia. The texture is also clearly different from before. The focaccia is smaller in diameter and also seems less heavy and less tall. For €7.25, I honestly expect more. Whereas I used to appreciate the chewy, slightly elastic texture of focaccia, this version is much softer and more brittle. You can pull it apart with your fingers almost effortlessly, and it falls apart quickly in the mouth. As a result, it lacks that typical, slightly elastic and airy bite that I look for in focaccia. I don't know if a different type of flour is being used or if the recipe has simply been adjusted, but for me, the focaccia has clearly changed, and unfortunately, not for the better. A shame, because that is what I came for.

A very cozy shop with friendly staff. The products are finger-licking good, full of flavor, and of really good quality. The ragout roll is a favorite, but I could also eat the tarts every day. The bread is crispy and clearly fresh. Perfect for a quick stop or working away from home!

Great atmosphere, friendly service, and above all, delicious products! Not only the bread but also the pastries 😍 definitely worth a visit!

What the manager thinks is most important; the customer has to adapt to that. I would rather spend my money on a place that makes me happy.

The nicest of all the Flemish bread houses. More of a coffee shop with bread. Also open on Sundays. Lovely people.

I went there for a cappuccino and ordered an apple tart. The staff were super nice and friendly, and they could speak English. I really liked the vibe and cozy atmosphere. I asked the staff to suggest the tastiest bread, and she was very helpful. I bought a bread with olive and dried tomato in it and loved it! Highly recommended!

Good food and service. However we had to wait very long to get our drinks and our food, although it wasn’t full.

Peculiar, I just had a coffee here. I sat downstairs. I asked if the music could be turned down a bit. The answer was (lady with blonde hair) that they cannot do this; it is protocol and they cannot turn down the speakers. The staff indicated that this had already been reported to the manager, but that he/she is not doing anything about it (?). It was also indicated that they receive this request often and turn the music down out of courtesy, but are no longer doing so (?). A shame, surely a middle ground can be found here. Otherwise, a really nice place for breakfast / lunch.

Tasty sandwiches with quick service on Sunday afternoon. Clean bathroom too. Downside is that the outdoor seating is on really on a busy street.

Good coffee and pastries, but what a worn-out interior. Everything peeling and broken. All dirty tables. What a shame!!

At 8 a.m., I picked up a croissant, a pain au chocolat, and a cinnamon roll, but everything was clearly not fresh: dry and hard. You expect fresh products from a bakery, especially in the morning. If it's from yesterday, be transparent about that and adjust your price accordingly. This was really disappointing.

I had lunch with a few friends this afternoon. The service was super friendly, fast, and attentive! The food and drinks arrived quickly. They even came by occasionally to ask if everything was to my liking. There's plenty of room inside and it's cozy. The menu is also very extensive! There's also a small outdoor terrace at the back. You can't pay cash here. That's no problem, as it's clearly indicated upon entering. The only downside was that the restrooms weren't very clean. The door handle was broken, the lock was difficult to lock, they were out of soap, and it wasn't very clean. But, still recommended for breakfast/lunch!

A lovely bakery with a wide and delicious selection. The bread and pastries were fresh and of good quality. The staff is friendly and helpful, even when it's a bit busier. A nice place to pick up something tasty in the neighborhood.

As a German, I say that VB's bread is the best in the Netherlands.

Cozy and relaxing place (gezellige stemming in Dutch), nice coffee and food/bakery-pastry menu.

The service is perfect, the food is superb. Always surprised by the taste. And again the focaccia sea salt/thyme is superb.

Delicious lunch options. Lots of variety, fast service, a nice place to stop and refuel.

The chai latte lacked flavor and was very milky. When I pointed this out, I was immediately offered something else instead. The woman who works there is incredibly sweet and very customer-friendly. The Cortado was excellent!

Das Frühstück ist recht gut da. Ist eine Bäckerei mit Tischen im Innenbereich. Die Servicedamen arbeiten gut, wenn auch die Wartezeit an diesem Morgen etwas lange war. Aber; für ein Frühstück oder Kaffee und Kuchen ideal.

Over the years we have become less enthusiastic about this bakery. Sourdough bread is still very tasty, but the prices of many items are very high. Then you also expect fresh, top-quality bread and service. Sometimes the bread no longer seems super fresh. It is no longer personal, but has become a chain.

Well, how can I put it... the croissants were a tragedy in three layers of puff pastry. Tasteless, so dry you could use it as a scouring pad, and it looked as if it had been out of the display case since the French Revolution. And then €3.25 each...

Rip off and deception. Elitist and not even really tasty. In addition, you have to pay extra if you buy something from the store eat in the restaurant, and they do not announce this in advance.

A small pastry with a cup of ginger tea: €9.90! Not even organic, so animals and people are probably being sold for it. The (solid multi-millionaires) owners should be ashamed.

Delicious cakes and excellent coffee. However, the service is concerned about everything except the guest. As a result, half of what was ordered is not delivered and when everyone has had their cake, one is asked whether it needs to be warmed up. That takes even longer, so it was eaten cold. Which is also possible, but it would be better if this was asked when ordering.

Nice luxury bakery shop with delicious bread. So delicious that we don't want anything else now. Nice helpful employees. Christoph pavé and the croissants are our favorites.

We zijn een paar keer eerder geweest, broodjes waren heerlijk en grote porties. Elke keer ook gebruik gemaakt van een doggie bag. Dit keer maar een broodje huisgemaakte Tonijn besteld, de grootte viel tegen! Normaal 2 grote sneetjes brood, nu nog maar één grote snee brood. Het is een leuke zaak met heerlijke belegde broodjes, vooral de warme zijn mijn favoriet, wel jammer dat ze nu heel stuk kleiner zijn geworden

We have been a few times before, sandwiches were delicious and large portions. We also used a doggie bag every time. This time I ordered a homemade tuna sandwich, the size was disappointing! Normally 2 large slices of bread, now only one large slice of bread. It is a nice place with delicious sandwiches, especially the warm ones are my favorite, it's a shame that they have become a lot smaller now

Nice spot for a lunch stop. Sandwiches are not overcomplicated and still delicious, coffee is good as well. What stole the show for us were the tarts. We got them for take away and ate at home. Fresh and full of happy flavours!

Why are there so many e-numbers in your products? I don't want thickeners and emulsifiers in my bread. Then I might as well go to the AH. Not really what you expect from a so-called artisan baker.

For the prices they ask, I expect perfection and service. And that was what was just missing. Ordered quite a few hamburger brioche buns by telephone, emphatically stated that I only wanted those. I've had them before. When I come to pick them up the next day, they have packed sandwich buns. I asked if they were the right ones and the employee said yes. Not so. Just received white rolls (those sandwich buns). Good quality (1 euro each) but that wasn't what I came for. This is a bit of a first world problem, I understand, but yes, it is also a first world store...

I had the buffel mozzarella tomaat here and it was one of the best things I've ever tasted. Do yourself a favour and stop here for a moment and experience pure joy.

They sell good, honest bread, without e-numbers (my impression). I'm willing to pay extra for that and luckily I can afford it. When you go to lunch it feels a bit student-like, but what do you want in a student city like Utrecht.

ordered cappuccinos for two. Friend wanted sugar, it was not delivered, we picked it up ourselves. The included cookie was broken in half by the waiter. this is not hygienic. plus a cappuccino for €3.75 and a half-broken cookie from the supermarket!

Yummy bread and desserts. Their tuna salad is also really good, and I definitely recommend the strawberry pie, or the chocolate pie!

Wonderful bakery on the Nachtegaalstraat in Utrecht. After a long walk we were looking for a place to have a cappuccino. Released at the Vlaamsch Broodhuys. Great place to have a nice coffee or a tasty meal. Enough choice!

Lekker vers brood, gezond & creatief belegd, vriendelijke bediening. Zeer irritant: mensen die daar uren achter hun laptop in zoom meetings zitten. Huur een kantoor!

cappuccino en cortado besteld, met taart. vriendin vroeg om suiker, die werd niet gebracht. na 5 minuten gehaald. De manager was geanimeerd in gesprek met het personeel. Hierna nog iets gedronken, in een schaaltje een handmatig gebroken speculaasje. Een halve per persoon. Een hele is blijkbaar te duur. De manager had het speculaasje handmatig gebroken, onhygiënisch

Ik kwam voor lunch met groepje vriendinnen deze juni en had een onaangename lunch, omdat ik getuigen werd van een nare manager, zo bleek, die een dame die vroeg om hete melk in haar koffie afgeblaft werd door de manager. En ze vroeg het heel vriendelijk, legde uit dat het normaal niet zo ging, maar zij haar melk heter dan 65 graden, geloof ik, wilde. Wat een nare manier om je gasten zo te bejegenen. En hij gaf haar gewoon een lauwe latte. Hij zei dat de melk nergens heter geserveerd mag worden dan 65 graden volgens de Nederlandse wet. Wat een onzin! Nare man en wilde duidelijk zijn gelijk halen. Hij had zelfs een soort spastische beweging. Dus niet klantvriendelijk en niet geschikt voor deze baan. Domme actie, want wij komen ook niet meer met onze groep. Zo wil je niet ontvangen worden. Wij hadden er zelfs lat van. Nee, nooit meer.

This store is certainly not cheap but they do have delicious bread. The coffee is also very good here. The Latte macchiato is so beautifully soft, chapeau!

I went here for the high tea and while we did get a lot of tea, sandwiches, scones, and cakes, I don't think I'd get it again. We had to wait quite a while to be seated, although we were right on time for our reservation. The price was alright, but we got four large sandwhiches with different types of salads, two of which were fish. The brownie they served us was incredibly dense and hard to get through. The scones were great though, and so was the aesthetics of the place.

Terrible place. I’m a local and can say that any place you will get a better value in Utrecht. They mislead and raise their prices every few weeks. 🤮

De zaak biedt een leuke verscheidenheid aan zitplaatsen. De bediening was vlot, kundig en heel vriendelijk. Het brood was heerlijk stevig met een knapperige korst, met fraai en smakelijk beleg. Ook de koffie was heerlijk. Kortom: een perfecte lunch.

Echt, ik ga niet liegen. Vijf personeelleden, vier klanten en dan nog moeten wachten. Vijf euro voor een klef hamkaas croissantjes, de koffie veel te vroeg. Locatie en ambiance top maar ontsla al die onnozele (…) studenten en neem echt personeel aan.

I had a sandwich here, tuna melt. It was ok, not bad but also not good. The taste was a bit dull and the cheese was overpowering the rest of the ingredients. For almost 12euro, you'd expect something worth your money.

Nice baked goods but the staff get rather easily confused (the bald bearded guy anyway). Brought the wrong drink, which is fine, but when I told him he insisted that's what was keyed in. So I said no problem, I'll just have that and reminded him about my takeaway pastry too. Five minutes later, he sheepishly brings my right drink, says nothing and brings the pastry on a plate to have there. I told him again it was to-go, again, blankly looked at me, returned with a paperbag and asked me to pack it myself. When you combine cluelessness with rudeness, that's a losing combination. Better service at the Twijnstraat branch.

Fijne plek voor een goed brood & ook een mooie spot voor thee of koffie, vers verantwoordelijk brood en erg vriendelijke bediening. Kom er altijd voor de wekelijkse kost 👍

Ein sehr guter Ort für einen Brunch. Verhältnismässig nicht ganz günstig aber die Qualität stimmt und es ist sehr lekker.

Very upmarket bakery. The choices and quality are amazing. So many varieties of bread!

Great bread and selection of it, but what I’m really always coming back for are the pastries. My favorite ones are the little peer tart and then the custard and raspberry one. I’d also get my occasion cakes here (and then eat way too much of them because they’re just so crazily tasty :)

Sandwich with beef was great, especially the sauce that comes with the sandwich was beyond great. I will come again for high tea.
