V.O.F. Nieuw Albina in Oude Pijp

Oh my goodness, this might be my favorite restaurant in all of Amsterdam. The chicken is seasoned perfectly, and the roti is so good I still think about it back home in Texas.

Always a pleasure to eat here. Friendly service, delicious food, and large portions for a reasonable price. There's always room at lunchtime. The Moksi meti remains my favorite, highly recommended!

It was my first time having this kind of cuisine and I honestly felt it was authentic. Probably the atmosphere placed an important role but I will definitely go back :)

I feel it’s worth mentioning that this is a Chinese restaurant with Surinamese dishes. Not the other way around. Tello bakeljou was too dried out and too oily (fried too long). Baka bana was ok. Saoto soup was ok. Nasi chicken was good. A bit chaotic on a Friday evening, but they managed.

In a city with such a poor and overpriced eating culture, Asian restaurants such as New Fusion save this entire place!! I found this restaurant at the end of last year through an Instagram reels, and decided to give it a try and I’ve been going there ever since. The number of dishes in the menu is enormous and the prices are pretty fair in comparison to pricing standards in Amsterdam. I would recommend getting the Nasi Moksi Meti, which is fried rice with a different meats and cooking styles in one single plate for around 12/13€. And trust me, unlike other portions you’ll find in the city, that thing will fill you up! Also the sweet and sour chicken was recommended to us by one of the sweet ladies who works there, and it is now one of my favorites too.

For €12 and even less, the meal is pretty stacked and fulfilling. The moksi dishes are very good for their prices! Will come by this place again for a quick affordable comfort meal when I am back in Amsterdam.

A great Chinese Surinamese eatery, great value for money.

After visiting the Rijksmuseum on a day trip to Amsterdam, I went to New Fusion with a friend of mine. Neither of us had tried Surinamese food before, so we wanted to try dishes that we thought seemed traditional. We were greeted kindly and served with care. Most notably, however, was the marvelous food. The portions were good, the price was moderate, and the flavours were exquisite. I would certainly like to return here if I find myself in Amsterdam again. If you are looking for traditional Surinamese food and a hassle-free experience in a beautiful area of Amsterdam, I would highly recommend eating here.

Delicious rich soato eaten with telo and nasi moksi meti. Everything was well seasoned.

Whatever you eat here, do not order the roti's. After 49 years of experience with roti's in Amsterdam, yesterday was the worst taste. Maybe better order a rice or noodle dish. The roti was more like soup with a tasteless chickenfilet. It was served way to hot ( in temp) and overall nothing like what a Surinam roti should taste and could be. Bad cook day? Whatever! But an insult to the rich and tasty Surinam kitchen brada!

The food was delicious and not expensive, just a shame I was there alone. Also very nice people. The only disturbing thing was a tree from an older guy on roller skates who thought he didn't get his order fast enough...

I ate a large Soto soup here. I thought it was a meager portion and the soup was tasteless despite the addition of MSG (predominantly present).

Our experience at New Fusion was amazing. From the moment we walked in, the place was clean and had a calm and inviting vibe. The staff acknowledged and greeted us immediately and sat us at our table. The server was kind and gave great recommendations. The food - man, the food - was delicious, flavourful and plentiful! 10/10 would recommend and will always go whenever in Amsterdam.

That was memory lane. New Albina has been on the Albert Cuyp for several years. And still the best Roti and Grilled Duck Etc. But also great quality service & ambiance, I have moved and it is just too far away to stop by. Unfortunately, they do not deliver (yet). It is certainly fresh because it is so busy that nothing can spoil. We and the other guests eat the bellies deliciously round and affordable. Definitely recommended 👍

The service is super friendly and you can sit quietly and eat. But... the food was less tasty this time. I took Koe Lo Kai with nasi which I normally take and I don't know if it is because of the new owners... because the chicken pieces were rock hard and chewy. Old? Or too much batter? I was very disappointed.

This huge plate of savory goodness (bami met moksi meti, with extra meat) only cost 12 euros! The cassava cake was also very good and reminiscent of the ones I usually had back in South East Asia. Overall a pretty nice dining experience, I will definitely come back.

You don't have to go for the atmosphere but the food is delicious and affordable. Highly recommended!!

Bought half a chicken and nasi separately. The chicken was rancid, tasted almost spoiled. The fried rice was decent. I come there quite often for takeout. But that was the last time. It is also noticeable that the place is quite empty.

Super tasty dishes and friendly staff

One of my favorite city-centered walk-in restaurant with fast service where you can eat from a great variety of dishes, a mixture of Chinese-Surinamese. Take-outs are ready within max. 10min. Beware it could be very busy during the weekends, where you have to wait around 15min outside for a table. All in all a great place to grab a quick dinner with families/ friends. The staff/ owners are absolutely gems, always friendly, welcoming and very attentive. Absolutely love and can’t recommend this place enough, make sure to order their bestseller ‘tsiu yim ha’ (Garlic shrimp dish) too! 🤩

I came here not expecting to have the best food of my life. But I have been proven wrong. I can confidently say that item no. 48 on the menu, also known as noodles moksi extra is the most tastiest, scrumptious dish my taste buds have encountered. It was a symphony of senses. The smell: 10/10, the looks: 10/10, the taste: out of this world. I can guarantee that you will not regret coming to this place. I might just make the trip from my city to Amsterdam just to come here for this meal. I do not want this to sound sarcastic in any way shape or form, but this truly was a fantastic MEAL. 💜

Me sorprendió genuinamente lo delicioso que estaba todo! Pedimos casi la mitad del menú porque queríamos probar lo máximo posible, lo que resultó ser un poco un error ya que las porciones eran generosas. Sin embargo, cada plato era increíblemente sabroso, y todavía me encuentro ansioso por la comida mucho después de nuestra visita. Esta pequeña empresa familiar ha logrado atraer un flujo constante de clientes tanto para cenar - en y para llevar, y operan con una velocidad impresionante sin mezclar los pedidos. El ambiente no es elegante; las mesas están bastante juntas, pero eso apenas importa cuando la comida es tan excepcional. Los precios son muy razonables, quizás incluso subestimados, teniendo en cuenta el auténtico sabor que ofrecen.

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food, empty when we first arrived and then immediately bustling in a warm, not so you have to wait a while but so everyone’s happily talking and eating… way :) and they are so kind here!

Surinamese food isn't accessible where I currently live, so I was really looking forward to finding some on this 2.5 day trip to Amsterdam. I almost cried when I had the chicken roti because it was so good! I came again the next day for bami moksi and it was excellent too. Really wish I lived in the area.

Had a delicious meal here again. If you want fancy food then this is not the place for you, but if you want delicious food for little money, then this is a great restaurant. I usually eat Moksi Meti extra here with fried rice. That is a meat mix of chicken and pork. There are four jars of sauces, well, if you want to call it sambal sauce. My table companion had fried duck and it was also very tasty. Go here. Recommended.

You don't come here for the service or the atmosphere! The food, portions thereof and taste. Most people I know agree this is the best pom in the city I am a.bit miffed at paying 1.50 for 'bakjes' the kind they use cost a couple of cents each. I asked why they didn't use biodegradable containers - as expected, no real answer. Though I am curious if I really could bring my own containers to avoid paying for them...

Excellent food. I've been there a few times. Rice is a bit hard, but the taste of the dishes was authentic.

Visiting from California, Food here is decent but one time I went back and I ordered a sandwich after coming here a couple of times and the lady didn't want to give me two extra slices of pickles without charging so after I paid for it I was taking a video she literally tried to grabbed my phone yelling at me in Chinese or Vietnamese and another lady comes out the toilet not knowing the situation and just started siding with the employee assuming I didn’t pay EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY PAID! After accusing me she called me FingStoopid American! Honestly wasted my time and money on this place don't do the same!

Had a nice meal, unfortunately I felt nauseous the same evening. Now 3 days later, I definitely got food poisoning…. I won't be there anymore (had Surinamese noodles chicken) My friends had a different dish and had no problems.

Worthless. The man behind the counter was blunt and rude and actually downright insulting.

We were loyal customers but not anymore since our last visit. We asked for the bill and paid incl. tip. I asked if it was correct we paid eur 20,- for tea? The female owner instantly raised her voice from behind the counter they also need to pay water and electricity and her son argued from a table he was eating at and said ‘you made your point and we did. That is it’. No more eating and drinking here for us.

Typical family-run restaurant with good food and an excellent quantity/quality/price ratio. We took Moksi Meti, Rotie kip and Tsiu Yim Yuk, lots of food for 3 people and all very good. The furnishings of the room are quite spartan and I recommend equipping the bathroom with disposable towels rather than a cloth towel. I recommend it to those who like oriental food and to those who like to eat a lot

Absolutely 💯 💯💯💯 % my place too eat Rice Noodle Soup with Moksi Meti or the Vegetarian variant of this Soup.. I don't eat it anywhere else and nowadays I travel from far to come and eat this Rice Noodle Soup!!! They have this thick orange (just a tiny bit) spicy sauce that I slander on it.. My mouth is salivating while writing this review. Can't speak of any other dishes as this is the only dish I order since year 2000 😬 But co-workers, friends and family members enjoy all the other foods without complains. Place is always clean. Haven't encountered anything other then good energy. Staff is wonderful & special shout out to the Lady with the Bob hairstyle that has been there from the beginning 👍🙏💪🤙✌️🖖🤝👏👋

Ik kom hier al jaren, zij het af en toe. Onlangs werden we geconfronteerd met een tengere Chinese man die ongelofelijk onbeschoft deed. Ik ben rolstoelgebruiker en doordat ik lang ben, pas ik niet onder de tafel met mijn benen. Altijd wordt de tafel in zo'n geval ergens op gezet, zodat het past. We moesten ze er helaas -beetje onprettig- aan herinneren dat dit vorige keren ook was gebeurd en begon hij achter onze rug om te smoezen met de de dames van de bediening - nogal ongepast. Maar bij het afruimen ging het pas echt mis: we kregen op snauwende toon van hem te horen dat ze 'deze service niet meer zullen leveren.' Op onze vraag waarom beschuldigde hij ons ervan hen als dienaren te behandelen en dat ze daar niet van gediend zijn. Begrijpelijk, als het zou kloppen. Maar het sloeg echt nergens op, er was niets vreemds of onprettigs gebeurd. Hij loog verder toen hij zei dat we niet hadden geholpen - mijn dochter deed dat zoals altijd wel degelijk. Goed door de reviews van de afgelopen jaren bladerend, zien we dat deze man klanten al jaren bot en onbeschoft behandelt. Hij discrimineert in mijn geval bovendien iemand met een beperking en dat is sinds de ratificatie van het VN verdrag voor de rechten van de gehandicapte mens strafbaar. Als de eigenaar wil dat de zaak de komende jaren overleeft, moet hij deze meneer de toegang tot de zaak ontzeggen.

Het eten bij Nieuw Albina is altijd heerlijk. Al komen wij uit Purmerend, het is de moeite/afstand waard. Natuurlijk nog wat extra (Surinaamse bloedworst b.v.) mee nemen... heerlijk.

Vriendelijke ontvangst. Vlotte bediening. Veel keuze en kwaliteit en smaak altijd goed. Bescheiden prijzen. Wij komen hier vaker. Vandaag weer geweest en onveranderd prima eten.

Authentiek Surinaams eethuis. Prima voedsel, verwacht niet te veel sfeer. Goed om af te halen of even snel een goedkope maar prima Surinaamse maaltijd te scoren
