I found the pom absolutely insanely delicious. Just be careful not to put the lemon zest in your mouth. I thought the kidney beans were so-so. But I will definitely be coming back often for that pom!

The food was mediocre; way too much bean sprouts in the noodles, your food is cold before you've even got them out. It is not easy to reach by car. The cod buns are very small, though.

You don't come here for the atmosphere, but for delicious meals. I have been coming here for over 35 years, and it is always delicious. And certainly plentiful. They are not stingy with the portions. Everything is well-seasoned. I recommend having a dawet (pink drink) with your meal. And a piece of bojo for dessert. Highly recommended. We, as a family, enjoy ourselves here every single time. We always come here to eat with at least 5 people.

I ordered the 38a three-combination rice. I think for most Chinese people, it might be better to ask for the braising liquid to be omitted and just dip it in chili oil. It's definitely not as good as authentic Cantonese cuisine, but it's generous in portion and very affordable, so I'd recommend it for a casual meal.

Food was great, our favorite was the fried noodle with peking duck, then special chicken fried rice, moksa meti okay too. very good for our asian tastebud, love love! at first we only wanted to order the fried rice, but we saw so many people order the fried noodle and we just had to 🤣 oh also the portion is quite big The place is decent, the place is packeddd, looks like we’re not the only ones that loves the food here. They have 2 menus, dutch and english, the servers dont seem to speak english well, and we dont speak dutch, but luckily they seem to understand chinese and i speak a bit of it. definitely going to come back here.

👀Taiwanese, take note!✨ This is a 30-year-old establishment. It doesn't have fancy decor, and it's not your typical Instagram-worthy spot. But it's very local, comfortable, and clean. It's always packed with customers, with a high table turnover rate. The staff are all very friendly and helpful aunties who mostly speak Dutch, but also English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. The food is incredibly delicious and cheap!!! It seems that because it's an established restaurant, the regulars are mostly neighbors who bring their grandchildren to continue the family business. So while other Chinese restaurants are raising prices, their portions remain the same, and the prices are still incredibly affordable!! I've eaten many of their meals, and Taiwanese people can definitely check out my recommendations: -Saoto soep: It's like Taiwanese plain noodle soup, a bit saltier, with crispy fried potato shreds, and comes with a small bowl of rice. The soup alone is very filling. -moksi meti: Our three/four-treasure rice; you can substitute fried rice or fried noodles for the white rice. - Peking Soep: Similar to our hot and sour soup, but a bit sweeter. It's delicious! - Wonton Soup: They have pork and shrimp versions, as well as noodle and rice noodle options. They add their unique chili oil, so delicious! I especially love their shrimp wontons 🦐 - Garlic Choy Sum/Potato: Just like the stir-fry restaurants we frequent, so good! 😋 - Salt and Pepper Chicken/Meat: Like our large chunks of fried chicken with onions. The taste is exactly the same, super delicious and goes perfectly with rice. - Mapo Tofu Chicken/Meat: Spicy and numbing, super fragrant, and made with soft tofu. Absolutely perfect with rice!! There are many other delicious dishes too~ Taiwanese people, go check them out!!

Good choices for Chinese food in the Netherlands. The taste is good, although a bit oily and salty, but overall the flaws don't outweigh the merits. I ate there for two days in a row. A very filling meal is available for around 20 euros. The Sato soup has an egg, bean sprouts, chicken, and glass noodles (the broth is unclear). The Moski meti at No. 37 has roast pork, crispy pork, sausage, and roast chicken – four kinds in one plate, which is great. Although it's very oily and salty, the large plate of rice is quite filling.

Rude man who shouted over our heads to the rest of the staff asking if that lady had already left the table where we wanted to sit. There was an empty plate and an empty cup there, you see. We assumed that person had already left and sat down. Then this man started arguing with us about where we were going to sit and called us rude. Maybe that person had gone to the toilet and we just sat down. That was his word, but he could have said this normally without rolling his eyes and calling us rude. So no stars for this place. But I had to give 1 star, otherwise your review isn't saved.

Okay, we’ve discovered another one of those typical Amsterdam “hidden gems”… only this one you’d rather keep buried deep. My boyfriend came home with a bag full of hope from Albina in De Pijp. Surinamese-Chinese comfort food, we thought. Well, we certainly didn’t get any comfort. We started with the sweet and sour tomato soup. It was mostly sweet. As if someone had tried to salvage a liter of ketchup with a spoonful of cornstarch. The soup clung to your spoon more than it actually was soup. The few stray chicken strips in it floated around as if they didn’t want to be part of the mix themselves anymore. Then the spring rolls. And listen… a spring roll *is* allowed to be greasy. That’s how it’s supposed to be. But this wasn’t a deep fryer anymore; this was an oil field. You mainly tasted the cooking oil from probably the past three King’s Days. The filling? Bean sprouts. Lots and lots of bean sprouts. As if someone had forgotten to order the rest of the ingredients. Along with that, an oyster sauce so uninspired that even water has more personality. But the absolute highlight — or low point — was the Moksi Meti. A plate of white pandan rice on the level of a “student house on day four without a salary.” Dry, tasteless, and totally lifeless. On top of that, some long beans that sounded fresh but tasted like they’d already had a fight with the microwave. Five pieces of chicken with those annoying little muscles in between that instantly turn you vegetarian, and two slices of black pudding that did the same. For nearly €40, we literally took a few bites and then sent the rest towards the trash can with slight reluctance. Even the rats of Amsterdam actually deserve better. Look, if you’ve lived in De Pijp for years and your taste buds have completely died off due to trendy sourdough hype and overpriced oat cappuccinos, then this might feel like nostalgia. But if you are even remotely accustomed to rich, well-spiced Asian-Surinamese cuisine, Albina is primarily a sad reminder of how bad eating can end.

Ordered 2 toasted chicken sandwiches. Fast service, cold buns with white, undercooked, inedible cold chicken. Asked to warm them up and complained about the chicken. Their response: that's just how it is with them. My big mistake: this was NOT visible in the display case. The fillings were "in the back". I expect nice brown toasted meat. It was the 1st time at Albina but also the last. NEVER again!! Inedible.. I took my sandwich with me to prevent them from scraping off the meat and serving it to the next customer.

visited Albina and got the 9a chicken spring roll & 47a noodles with crispy pork, char siu pork and roasted chicken. the noodles were delicious and the crispy pork was the best i've ever had. incredible value for money- €14 in total authentic, family feel in the restaurant. however, there is a €2 fee to use the toilet. would highly recommend for a taste of Suriname 🇸🇷

Me and my friend wanted to use their rest room and we immediately paid €4 for the both of us before going in. When we came back after a few minutes and we wanted to leave, the male staff member suddenly accused us of not paying… we told him we did and we paid for the both of us through one of the female staff members and he kept harassing us 5 times saying we didn’t pay. Later on, he started speaking in his own language to one of the staff who was the cashier and kept asking her multiple times if she remembered us paying and she kept nodding that it was us and then he rolled his eyes dramatically at us instead of apologizing for the rude accusations and the hold up. This guy was extremely disrespectful and rude and just because of him I will never go in there again. Dining here isn’t worth it with staff like this, even being there for 10 minutes was a pain. Do not recommend.

Wanted to try a suriname dish so ordered the moksi meti speciaal. Its a mix of roasted meats like pork, chicken, duck and sausage along with rice. The dish was really good and had great flavor. Would definitely recommend.

A very cozy place where you can eat authentic Chinese-Surinamese food. I've been going there for years now and the taste always remains the same, just like the staff. They are very friendly and you feel at home quickly. Definitely recommended!

Their Babi pangang met spek is the best in the Pijp. My all time favorite for many years. If I drink it with a dawet, i feel super happy. Must try.

The staff was difficult to reach during the visit and seemed to avoid us several times when we wanted to place an order. When we indicated that we wanted to order something extra, we were informed in a clear and unwelcoming manner that this was not possible. This deviates from what is customary in the hospitality industry, in my opinion. Additionally, the service was slow and the overall organization gave an uncoordinated impression. As a result, we felt unwelcome as guests. Based on this experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend Restaurant Albina.

Quite possibly the best Chinese-Surinamese food in the Randstad, absolutely incredible. The staff is lovely, and the place has quite a unique charm that teleports you to somewhat in the past. I intend to come here as often as possible whenever I'm in the area.

Three smiling women behind the counter First, they brought one piece of meat sausage. Immediately afterward, the nasi for the person I was with. And only 15 minutes later, the teloh with salted cod. They were literally laughing, and I waited, hungry. Poor service, and while the person I was with was almost finished eating, my teloh arrived. The women did that on purpose! The energy was awful, and that teloh was a 2/10! I'd say I won't be coming back, but that's exactly what they want. 😭 😂

I was really looking forward to eating here, but unfortunately the experience was affected by one of the male staff members taking orders. His attitude was quite rude and unfriendly, and he seemed impatient when speaking to customers. The food and environment are good, but the service really needs improvement. It didn’t feel welcoming at all.

I've been getting babi pangang here for years, because I've always loved it. Recently I tried something different, a noodle dish with Peking duck, and it was disappointing. The Peking duck was full of bones and tendons, and the amount of duck was too small. I've had much better elsewhere, so I went back to the babi pangang.

One of my favorite places for a quick bite: plentiful, inexpensive, and simply delicious. I usually get a small nasi with chicken—more than enough for me and always incredibly delicious. This time I tried something different: roti with chicken. The sauce was a bit salty, but otherwise, perfect. The staff is always super friendly, and everything is spotlessly clean.

I do love the food here. It's great. Cheap, big portions, quick, greasy, great free sauces on the table. You don't come for the service - it's more than adequate - vegetables or the atmosphere. You come for 'lekker veel, vettig Surinames Chinees eten' and are never disappointed

Simply excellent Chinese/Surinamese food. The service is always fast and friendly, and I always have the moksi here, which is excellent. I highly recommend it over the larger restaurants in Amsterdam.

The owner was in the "restaurant" this evening. I have never met an owner who was so unbelievably rude. To customers as well as his own employees. I walked right out the door.

The food here has always been good value for money! And it tastes very good. I come here for the "sato soup" which is a traditional delicious chicken soup served with rice and a boiled egg. That being said I also ordered a "loempia" a spring roll which was surprisingly tiny and warmed up in a microwave. And I was charged more than advertised in their menu. That was disappointing obviously.

The vegetarian roti was very tasteless and actually quite nasty, and I asked if I could charge my phone because I had to travel home later to which they answered “no but maybe you should invest in a power bank”. The arrogance baffled me.

Delicious Asian food, great service

It is a nice little local restaurant that most tourists don't know, which makes it authentic and peaceful. The food was good and the ration was very generous (I ordered a tofu tjap tjoy). But I was appalled to see in the menu that they sell SHARK FIN SOUP. The industry of shark finning is one of the cruelest and most destructive in the world, and it is PUSHING SHARK POPULATIONS TO THE VERY BRINK OF EXTINCTION. I respectfully request that Albina STOP SELLING AND REMOVE SHARK FIN SOUP FROM THEIR MENU.

Straight to the point: delicious food for a good price. Service was fast and the staff were very helpful. The roti we ordered was excellent, as was the saoto. I don't think it's really meant for a long sit-down meal (although that's possible), but it's a great place for a casual meal.

The beans were delicious, but we thought the portion was excessive; there were a lot of beans, and the rice portion was perfect. The ladies who served us were formal, very charismatic, and friendly. I recommend asking about the number of meals before ordering, because in our case, one meal would have been enough for two people.

It's a kind of cafe/restaurant so no fancy atmosphere but the staff was very friendly and the food was delicious!!

Used to have really good food, then it split into Albina and "de Nieuwe Albina" next door, and it seems like the chef went to the other restaurant, because when I ordered the roasted chicken with moski sauce, the chicken was super dry, the sauce was different. We come here to eat every week, so we are regular customers. We normally order takeaway Nazi chicken special every week and now we thought we would sit inside for a while. I wanted to charge my phone and immediately got dirty looks and incredibly unfriendly energy. I thought it would be a small effort for a regular customer. So we don't feel like eating there anymore. I also told them we are regular customers and I don't understand the attitude. Then I got another comment that we never come there. It's clear how they see customers there. They've been taking away for months but not us as customers anymore... good luck with that

My go to place if I have some money left at the end of the month. The menu is very extensive, but always go for the same thing haha.. S3.. Czechuan Nau or something. Even when I have guests in Amsterdam, I take them here, because it fills your tummy nicely, you don't have to work an extra day the next month and it's on the table quickly, so you don't have to fuss for an hour and have awkward silences. Albina 💞👍🏼.

staff isn’t really friendly in my opinion. straight forward and blank faced. its also very unfortunate that you aren’t able to charge your phone here while eating while that is pretty standard to have as a option when in a restaurant. the saoto soup i ordered was also pretty shitty the broth was great but all the ingredients in it were kind of stiff, void of taste or tasted kind of odd. this isn’t very odd for a saoto soup in the evening, i’ve been in other restaurants where i’ve had the same problem. my meal was also done withing literal minutes, which was nice yes, but i don’t need that personally. it’s obvious they pre-made a batch of saoto soup to use for the whole day which unfortunately really taints the whole meal as the ingredients in it don’t age well over a day. everything else was ok. oh except the bathroom would pay 2€ for that as non guest the floor was wet, and the lightning like kinda weird.

I have been coming to Albina for many years and have always eaten well there. The staff was always very friendly, which was really nice. Unfortunately, my experiences lately have been far from that. Went again today (now for the last time) but I decided to get something else somewhere, because certain staff members walk around with a sullen and disinterested look as if they HATE everything that is happening around them. There was a customer in front of me who was helped and then he just stood there rinsing glasses... Without batting an eyelid. I have seen before that certain people have no catering experience and no service-oriented attitude.... Unfortunately this was my last visit, I will not be missed. I have now read a number of reviews and it turns out that I am not the only (regularly returning customer) with this experience and apparently about the same employee But very unfortunate.

Mihoen with roasted pork belly is, as usual, eur 14.50. The pork belly (foo nam or babi pangang bacon) is served with rice as standard. Opted for a small additional payment of eur 2.50 for mihoen. Portions of noodles have shrunk somewhat in recent years. They used to be generous portions that you could actually share. Everything else is fine. The service is quite fast.

What a rude Chinese woman. bah, the only thing they are interested in is the money. They brought cold food and you have to eat quickly because other customers are waiting. The Chinese woman is very rude when you pay. Look carefully because they can make mistakes. I heard a lot of good things about this place, but for me it was a very big disappointment. I wanted to give them a 0 strong, but that was possible, so I gave them a 1. I also told that woman I will never come again and she said don't give up. Maybe she was on her period. dawn she was so rude.

I wanted to go to the toilet alone with my mother and I paid €4 for that?! Ridiculously expensive to go to the toilet alone. Then I would be better off going to McDonald's to use the toilet where it is also cleaned and cheaper... I can get a whole McDonald's for 4 euros.

My absolute recommendation is the tjap tjoy with beef – wonderfully fresh, crispy vegetables and tender meat, just as it should be. What really sets Albina apart is the no-nonsense style: pure takeaway food without fuss, but with taste and quality. You order, pick it up quickly, and enjoy a delicious meal at home. The service is very friendly and efficient, so you never have to wait long. In addition, the prices are accessible to everyone. For a generous portion of tjap tjoy with beef you pay around €12.50. Other popular takeaway dishes, such as moksi meti, range from €13.00 - €15.00, and a well-filled roti dish costs around €10.00 - €12.50. In short, if you are looking for tasty, fresh and affordable takeaway food, Albina is the place!

The meal is quite large, with a lot of meat. If you can't finish it, you can take it away for a 0.5 euro meal box fee. I ordered fried noodles with chicken, barbecued pork and bacon. The large portion was 12 euros and the beer was 3.5 euros. Add a little chili oil on the table to make it more delicious😋

I think your review of this restaurant is really dependent on if you are used to eating Dutch food regularly. If that's the case, this place gets 5 stars. Otherwise, just go get real Chinese food. Or African food. The food here is quite underwhelming.

Not sure on the Surinamese food factor... What Ordered the beans and meat and also Bami with roasted meats. The beans and meat was quite a surprise to me as they put chinese Char Siu into this dish. Definitely a new innovation. The Bami with roasted meat was also not what I expected. Overall it was good but not sure the mix of cuisine it is. Definitely big portion and worth for a great deal, but I am leaning more towards this being good for chinese food. Environment Quite big space inside for sitting and eating. Very casual place. Niceness of the staff Very homey and nice staff that are always available to tend to you. Dollar Very worth the money. Portions are big so they are very filling! Yes If I want some chinese food definitely!

We went to this place for dinner. It is a simple place and the food is excellent. We tried a few dishes and everything tasted great. The ladies working there are super nice!

The place has a great deal of variety in foods. I don’t have much more experience in Surinamese food. Noodle’s mixture of taste is great. Chicken satay and porks are also high quality. I don’t like duck much, but pork is absolutely enjoyable. I think a glass of tap water should be served free of charge in the restaurant.

Very good but very pricey! And if you spend more than €150, I have a hard time with 20 cents per container, that's way too much!

Very tasty food, we couldn't even finish everything, but luckily we were able to take some with us. Waiting time wasn't that long, nice waitress, nice atmosphere. Lots of choice on the menu! I'm from the east of the country and will definitely eat there again when I'm back in Amsterdam.
