The food is truly 10/10; always fresh, flavorful, and of good quality. Unfortunately, the lady at the checkout is often grumpy and rude, which makes the experience a bit less pleasant. Fortunately, the rest of the staff is friendly and helpful. Despite that, I mainly come back for the delicious food.

I was craving a duck roti. The quality was terrible; there was more duck skin than meat in the container. You can only taste cumin seeds and it was watery. Very bland in flavor! The potato wasn't good either. What a shame! A real waste of money. I visit Suriname regularly; I know what a real duck curry tastes like!

Delicious Surinamese food. Enjoyed the Chicken Roti. Also took a bag of meals home. The service is super fast. In short, highly recommended for takeout and eating in.

Always tastier than all the roti shops! Quality! The only downside is that you can eat inside until 7:30 PM, while it is open until 9 PM. Empathy from the female employee is nowhere to be found.

The food has been completely adapted to European “standards.” So, you won’t be eating authentic Surinamese Roti, but rather a pale imitation of it. The food isn’t bad, but it certainly isn’t good either, if you know how it’s supposed to be. The location is also a pale imitation of a restaurant. Lacking atmosphere and a tad grubby. Paper plates (sustainable, admittedly), but for the prices you pay, you expect at least decent material to eat from. Ultimately, it is a glorified takeaway shack that exists probably because there are no other roti places in the neighborhood. The staff is generally very nice. However, they have a “manager” there who has absolutely no clue about service. The man is full of himself. When dealing with a complaint, the man completely lost his temper. That is not how you treat people. The location (1e van Swindenstraat) is easily accessible by car, bicycle, and public transport. Naturally, there is paid parking around the Dappermarkt.

Order food at the counter. Hand in your receipt. Your roti is made fresh on the spot. You can see this too.

Best Roti Roll in the Netherlands, I gladly make a detour for it when I am near Amsterdam. Unfortunately, the portions are getting smaller, as I read more in the reviews here; offer larger portions/rolls as an alternative for an extra charge. I am happy to pay for good food and understand that everything has become very expensive, but it is better to pay more than to eat worse!

Just picked up two veggie rotis from this place. We actually wanted to order a container of regular white rice, but it turned out to be €10 (ridiculous), so we left it at that. I hadn't even placed my order yet when the two containers were ready. When I got home, I could hardly believe what I saw. The containers weren't even half full! And with what??? Literally one and a half dry, sticky potatoes with a huge amount of tasteless long beans. On top of that, a giant pancake that couldn't even fill a quarter of the amount in the container. This is a complete rip-off. The taste was "okay," but I thought it was a dry, bland mess. Shame on you roti!

Roopram's faded glory. 1) Today I waited so long, as if the food was gone and there was no staff. 2) Extremely expensive (see below for why) 3) Meager portion; 3.1) Roti daal: there was no daal in the roti, at least so little that it's a disgrace to Hindustanis. If I just want dough, I'd rather get tortillas/durum wrappers or something. 3.2 Vegetables: half a potato and "kouseband" (long beans), daggoe strijken this, mix kouseband with green beans; often you just see three different shades. This has been happening for quite some time, but I haven't complained about it until now. 3.3 Meat: not enough. If you look closely, you get as much "soerwa" as meat, incredibly little, not enough to finish your roti. This portion is more of a snack than a "meal." I won't be going there again anyway. It's a shame.

Went with my fiancee who used to have gallery in this street for a year and some friends to have some roti. We passed this place so many times in the past and heard some bad stories. Friend said... No this is best roti place in Amsterdam. So we went. Quite a line, can't be bad. And it wasnt. It was great! We shared a roti roll with chicken, kousenband and potato. Friends had a plate with roti: pancake, chicken, gravy beans the long green ones. The roll was delicious, little spicy not too much, juicy nice blend of flavours only found in traditional surinam kitchen. No wonder there was quite a line waiting. Fast service and very nice also beer and afterwards place to wash hands as roti is eaten with hands. Recommended!

I paid 2€ extra for more chicken breast And I got only 5 small pieces in total☹️ and it was half a portion ,absolutely not enough for one adult male person,they told me the package was vacuum sealed and there will be no issues/lekkage with it and my bag is full of juices from the roti :((( In total 16,50€! And I AM STILL HUNGRY!! Never again 👎👎👎👎

I've been going to Roopram's for the rotti rolls for a long time, but the portions have gotten smaller and smaller over time. The rotti roll I got today was absolutely disgusting. I ate more bread than filling; it contained almost nothing but potatoes and some long beans. I hesitated about saying anything, but I finally did. I was looking forward to a delicious rotti roll, and after all, I pay for it. When I pointed out at the cash register that my roll wasn't filled, I was stared at as if I were crazy. "This is a roll," they said. I said I knew that, and I also knew what I normally get from them. The end result: no help, no extra spoonful on my plate or anything, just arrogance. This despite the fact that I had indicated I was willing to pay extra for it. The people who ordered after me received enormous rotti rolls, literally three-quarters as big. That's why I felt compelled to write a negative review. It's a shame, Roopram, that you treat your regular customers this way. Judge the photos for yourself...

I bought a Roti Docks for €19. The price alone is extremely expensive, and that for a Roti without egg. But the portions? In 2025, this is simply unacceptable. It is rip-off to charge so much money for so little food, and besides, it tastes like nothing. It is a shame because Roopram is known as one of the best Roti restaurants in Amsterdam, but they have gone downhill extremely. Hopefully, they can learn from consumer experiences.

Busy, expensive, but always great food, and despite the crowds, the staff works hard to help you as quickly as possible. There's no atmosphere, but that's not what the restaurant is for.

Picked up takeout for 3 people. What a disgrace! Paid €54 and still hungry! Half a container full of chicken fillet and ‘sauce’. The sauce is definitely a broth-like substance and tastes like nothing. There was only half a potato in it, man oh man, roti-worthy no way!

The chicken tasted very watery. The gravy was very thin and just tasted like water. I hadn't been there for a very long time. Longer than a year, because the quality had deteriorated. I thought I'd give it another try; it was worthless. I don't know what happened to them. I used to recommend people go here. Not anymore.

They used to have good blanco roti here, but that's changed. Personally, I find the roti blanco less tasty now. It has crumbs in it. But the meat is worse. Lamb roti; several times now, the lamb has been very tough, while it used to be tender; it doesn't taste like lamb anymore. When I bring it up, the cashier tells me that lamb is supposed to be tough and that there's nothing they can do about it. The kitchen reacts the same way; it's a real shame it's gone downhill.

Dear donkeys, on Sunday I went to you, ordered roti, chicken in masala, the food was inedible, a strange taste in my mouth, it seemed as if the baking soda was chicken in masala and the garter was raw or not cooked, I think this is really bad business, do you know what you cook and how to cook, I don't want to eat at Roorram anymore, you are ruining your own skin, I had to go to Albert Heijn to wash away the taste

I would avoid it. We ordered with four people Roti Chicken Filet and Lamb. People who only ate the Chicken filet were fine. The rest of us who had the Lamb as well got food poisoning. Like 10 hours after dinner, we started to get symptoms and have been sick for a week. Such a shame :(

Best roti in 2024, (now edited review due to smaller portions and often sold out by-products you would think that after years of being the best Surinamese at Javastraat that you would have the stock in order. But no. They say they are open until 9:00 PM but I have never been able to catch them at it. Just say that your kitchen closes at 8:30 PM. Tldr; delicious food but often sold out and smaller portions than before.

Lamb was tender and tastes good. Pieces of chicken legs are a bit too dry and therefore little taste despite a delicious and deliciously excess curry sauce. Few potatoes on your plate. But the many pieces of meat make up for it. Fast service so no long wait. Long line of takeaways. No yellow discolored nails after eating their Roti :)

The veggie roti disappoints!! Consisted of small beans and mashed potatoes with a small bowl of sambal for €9.50. Actually not possible. No sauce, too little taste, no tofu/egg(white)/meat substitute or extra vegetables.

Very disappointing, we used to visit when coming to Amsterdam for the good food but I went today and ordered and as I went to sit down I was told we can’t eat in as she needs to clean up, I mean we was there 45mins before closing time and was told we can’t eat inside because they want to clean up and that’s not our problem as customers. Very disappointed and I hope others see this review and decide to go elsewhere.

After a bad experience six months ago by receiving a roti roll of lamb with potato, while the receipt stated, roti roll, lamb and long beans. There was also little meat and vegetables and many hard pieces of fat on the lamb. So today I tried again and ordered another roti roll and lamb garter. When I handed in my receipt, the roll was already ready and at home I once again found a roti roll with almost only potatoes in it! The meat also tasted bad and was very little and the long beans were almost non-existent. The taste and quality have deteriorated greatly in this tent. I never get my food here!!

Review adjusted. Overall from 4 to 2 stars. For the taste of the roti I would still give 4 stars, but the taste of the dawet and amount of food is 1 star. The dawet used to be tasty, but this one did not taste good. Different supplier and not a good choice. Previously I was always satisfied with the food, enough vegetables and large roti, but unfortunately this was the result when I opened the packaging. A small layer of garter and a bit of potato. Previously you got 2 full scoops of potato and now 2 half ones. The roti was still the same. And in terms of taste nothing to complain about, so just good. The lady behind the counter was very unfriendly and nagged about the coins we paid with. She claimed that she was not allowed to accept some coins because they were damaged. That made no sense, it was clearly stated how much it was. It just does not shine and she apparently had a problem with that. Very strange way of dealing with customers. Tried other dishes in the past like pumpkin or roti roll, but not worth repeating for me. For my father I always got with chicken and he used to complain about too little meat and only bone.

We were at a roti shop at noon, we paid extra but there was an argument about whether to add potatoes or not, it's strange that I paid 34 euros for two rotis and 4 empty pitas. Ordered yesterday and what a disappointment. 1. The prices and portions have deteriorated beyond belief. A barra chicken 9 euros and a roti roll 14 euros. Rotirol size is ridiculous 2. Not to taste. The barra was soggy/greasy and the chicken had a bad taste. The roti roll consisted mainly of rotivel, chunks of potato mixed in with a little bit of chicken. Ridiculous for this price. Also not in good taste. Even the sambal did not taste good. WHAT HAPPENED HERE? I won't fall for this anymore. From now on only go to Gieta in west ❤️

My visit to Roopram Roti in Amsterdam was unfortunately disappointing. The prices have really skyrocketed, and I felt the quality of the food was disproportionate to the cost. It seemed like the portions were smaller than expected, while the price was on the high side. In addition, the service was not special, which gave the feeling that the customer was not really cared about. For what you pay here, there are certainly other options in the area that are better priced and taste just as good, if not better. I would recommend checking out the competitors before heading here. Unfortunately no repeat for me.

Vegetarian option is pure potato with long beans. No tempeh, tofu, sweet potato and grilled eggplant, as I am used to at Aarti 2. Very small portion. Bara was bone dry. I'm really disappointed, don't go if you're a vegetarian.

Roopram has to think about how little food they give. These Hindustani people are stingy and now we see that better. 18.50 for lamb and still little potato and beans. Shame on you. They just want to make money from dirty backstabbers. Been buying here for years but enough is enough. Fill those bins and don't be stingy because we pay a fortune for it.

Antisocial lady not polite when you ask if she wants to wash her hands because she comes from the cash register to help pack the food. She says her hands are clean but she just touched money. I wanted to cancel the order, but that was not possible because I had already paid, but it was difficult to get my money back. Unsanitary. Ir/Madam, I am writing to complain about the plastic surcharge I recently had to pay. I ordered Roti rolls and wasn't expecting a plastic container, as I had my own bag with me. However, we were still charged a surcharge for a plastic bin. This seems unfair to me as I did not receive a plastic container. I would appreciate if you could look into this matter and the fee can be refunded.

Excellent food..very flavorful with a good (optional) spicey hot sauce. Highly recommend it. Mostly for takeout but they have a few tables you can sit at.

Great roti . A friend of mine lives in Amsterdam and I am from Brabant. But if I'm there for a few days, I have to have roti from this place. And the roti rolls go to barbant and into the freezer. Just wonderful ❤️💛💚

The food here is really good. I already tried the chicken roti or the lamb roti and both are super delicious, the quality of the meat is great! The only thing I can point out is that the sauce+meat are too spicy sometimes and for people that can’t eat spicy food is not great. Besides that I totally recommend this place, but to eat outside since the place is small and not very inviting.

I've been coming here for years, but haven't been for a long time. Today I finally got another roti with chicken and a roti roll for my daughter and I. Unfortunately, the roll was not filled properly and the roti chicken had undercooked chicken pieces. The potatoes were still hard and there were large chunks in them. The sauce didn't taste like I was used to and it was too much. Really a shame, because I was a Roopram fan😞. I have now thrown away more than half.

What a difference with the location in Rotterdam. There they use thigh fillet and here I had breast fillet today. Mega dry… Very salty and no hint of a little sweet. Furthermore, there was no egg, roti plate was really not tasty. The taste was terrible and there were no yellow peas in them which they normally have in Rotterdam. The potato was hard and unseasoned. Long beans were big and thick, tasted chemical. This really wasn't good...
