Had a delicious meal in a beautiful room. It was a bit noisy, but you could easily understand each other.

The help Maureen gave was really pleasant and enjoyed the drinks and dinner here.

Had lunch here with a friend and was kindly served by Leonoor. A super nice girl who keeps a close eye on the table; before you even have to ask, she's already there, observing carefully what is needed. Definitely worth a repeat visit!

High tea for 12 for a birthday, and they were very flexible regarding our seating arrangements due to two hard-of-hearing guests. So, instead of the busy front room, we were seated at the back, where it was very quiet. The snacks were delicious, and the staff knew exactly when to come by for more tea and when to simply let us enjoy our meal. We had mentioned beforehand that it was a birthday party and that we would be bringing our own cake, so there was a charge for forks, but because we hadn't been informed about this in advance and only four people wanted cake in the end, we only had to pay for four instead of the whole table. All in all, they were very considerate, kind, and flexible, and the staff clearly enjoy their work! It was a huge success, and everyone had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back!

Had the Korean Fried Chicken yesterday. Basically fried dog food. I couldn't eat it. My wife tried it and immediately spit it into the water.

We ate here recently; we find the food boring, bland, and uninteresting. Furthermore, we feel the price-quality ratio is disproportionate.

I had the steak as my main and tiramisu for dessert. The steak was perfectly cooked medium as I wanted and the tiramisu was really good. I finished up the whole plate! Suggest to make a reservation as it got pretty packed during dinner.

The food was okay, but the acoustics are terrible. It was even hard to understand your neighbor!

Today I had a lovely time at De Waag. We were served by Ruben. He was very hospitable and the atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant!

Last Saturday, a few friends and I decided to grab a bite to eat at De Waag. We took our seats at the table, and a handsome, friendly blonde man named Ruben appeared. He was our waiter for the day and really put on a show. With his enthusiasm, friendliness, and perfect service, he not only managed to take our order but also made the whole evening just that little bit more fun. No question was too crazy, and Ruben was visibly happy to be there for us. Ruben, thank you for the amazing service and especially for the show. A waiter like you makes a night out complete! ⭐️

Had a lovely drink with a guy named Ruben! Great guy, seriously good waiter. He helped me and my daughter out really well. He knew a lot about the menu and my daughter had a crush on him. I would let my daughter date this waiter in a heartbeat! We will definitely be back.

The food was fantastic, but what really blossomed was Ruben van Klink. He combines class with the perfect amount of friendliness. It is truly a unique experience with Ruben, whom I (who am in total ecstasy) may now call Ruub. He elevates your evening to a new, exceptional level that you will never experience anywhere else. If I were to describe my experience in one word, it would be: ‘unsurpassed’.

Last week we had a lovely lunch at De Waag. My wife and I were served by a guy named Ruben from Voorschoten. He came across as a really nice guy and he knew all the house specials by heart. As far as I'm concerned, that's a great skill, since I always only order the specials. Ruben, if you see this, I'd like to order from you more often, friend! Maybe we could grab a beer sometime?

Very nice place! I was kindly helped by Ruben, a true craftsman who really takes an afternoon on the terrace to the next level. Normally I don't post reviews, but a hard worker like Ruben managed to convince me.

We thought we were having a normal afternoon lunch at De Waag, but nothing could be further from the truth. We didn't have a “Waag experience,” but a “Ruben masterclass.” From the moment this man appeared at our table, it was clear that we were merely extras in his evening. Ruben doesn't serve food. The food gets the honor of being served by Ruben. Our beer wasn't even empty yet and Ruben was already standing next to me again. No idea where he came from. I think he can teleport. At one point, I deliberately dropped a fork to test it. The fork never touched the ground. Ruben had it. The food was delicious, the location beautiful, but that all felt a bit secondary. I now have a photo of Ruben on the mantelpiece at home, and I named my newborn son after him. 5 stars for De Waag, 6 for Ruben

A very beautiful old building. Much has been left as the building was in earlier times. The service is very friendly and helpful. The menu, both food and drink, is very varied and good. The wall leading to the toilet is full of old scales, the weigh house.

Unfortunately, we received poor service; the food was tasteless and they forgot about us. When we pointed this out, the response was very disrespectful. We will not be coming back. The food was bad, we sent it back to the kitchen, and went to eat somewhere else.

It should be great and looks good sitting by the canal; however the quality of coffee was poor and we were promised food but no food orders were ever taken. Expensive for one coffee and one tea.

Beautiful location with consistent quality and good service. As someone who grew up in Leiden, I have been following the local hospitality scene closely for years. De Waag has, of course, been around for a very long time, and we have dined here several times by now. The experience is consistently good every time. The food is simply delicious and the service is superb. The building is incredibly beautiful and atmospherically designed; it remains an absolute top location in the city. Moreover, the staff are very nice and hospitable. During our last visit, the drinks took a moment to arrive. That can happen when it is busy, but it is a small detail that could be handled just a little more smoothly. All in all, this remains a lovely spot in Leiden where we will certainly keep coming back.

Ordered lunch with a drink. Staff service was excellent and the location is nice too. The lunch was tasty, but very little for the price. 1.5 slices of bread with a croquette, a poached egg, and a small cup of soup for 15 euros. Let's just say I've had larger portions for that money. Despite that, it was tasty, and considering the price, you won't find cheaper sandwiches in the area.

Over the years, we have had lunch at De Waag several times to our satisfaction. Unfortunately, the last time was a disappointment. The dishes are still tasty, but the quantity and the presentation of the plates are becoming increasingly meager. Today we ordered Eggs Benedict. On one very thick slice of bread, one slice of salmon that barely covered the sandwich. Finished off with a few pathetic arugula leaves. It is a shame; a nice garnish makes the plate much more attractive. It really won't get more than 3 stars this way.

For the first time in 10 months, I managed to arrange a babysitter and get away from home with my wife. We hadn't even been sitting for 10 minutes when we were told the waitress was doing her last round. Which she could have told us before we sat down. They turn off the heat lamp outside at 11:30 and the lights at 12:00 to scare you away. So don't come here for a nice drink in the evening, because they just chase you away.

We went in here for a pleasant lunch. A midday snack is often a delicious choice, but unfortunately, De Waag isn't very flexible in this regard. My partner was looking for the vegetarian version, but it turned out not to exist. She could have a Burrata. Very disappointing. While other restaurants usually have a vegetarian option, this is not possible at this restaurant. How difficult is it to have a vegetable croquette in your arsenal? So we just left. Area for improvement?

Had lunch this afternoon. It was fine in itself, but a tip: stick to the ingredients you put on the menu. I had a carpaccio sandwich and it had a sour lemon oil on it that wasn't on the menu and didn't taste good with the other ingredients, so I just ate the carpaccio on its own and threw the rest away. A waste and a shame! The staff were very friendly!

I come here every time we visit Leiden for their veg burger. Previously made with beet but this time was turnip. Great! Truly enjoyed the canal side terrace.

Fantastic location by the water! The lunch sandwiches are generously filled and flavorful. Unfortunately, the service wasn't entirely smooth; otherwise, our visit would certainly have been worthy of five stars. Additionally, the restaurant is a bit pricey, but the view is definitely worth it.

Everything was taken care of properly, and we were able to truly enjoy ourselves at ease here. What makes this place extra special is the combination of the beautiful location, the cozy atmosphere, the delicious food, and the good service. It is a lovely place to go with friends, family, or your partner. We had a very nice experience and would certainly love to come back again. Absolutely recommended if you are in Leiden!

A lovely restaurant in the historic former weigh house in Leiden. The many antique scales on display are particularly charming and lend the place a unique character. There's a beautiful bar area with high tables, a cozy interior, and a fantastic terrace right on the water. The food arrived quickly, the staff was exceptionally attentive, and umbrellas were promptly provided when needed – perfect for enjoying the sunshine. Add to that fair prices, good coffee, and overall a truly delightful experience. We felt very comfortable and will definitely return! Highly recommended!

Great Experience in Leiden! 🇳🇱 The bitterballen were absolutely delicious, and the service was very friendly and attentive! We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The only suggestion would be to position the outdoor chairs a little better, as the direct sun made it quite uncomfortable at times. Waag terrace is directly over the waterside and the vibe there is lovely - really relaxed and the food and drink is excellent and reasonably priced considering the location.
