Sinterklaas house wonderfully organized

My husband and I once had our first beer together at De Waag in Leiden. On our wedding day, we returned together and were surprised with a delicious snack and a fantastic beer on the terrace. To our surprise, they even gave it away as a gift! Thanks again so much! De Waag is an absolute must-see—we always love coming back.

Beautiful location converted into a restaurant, impeccable and very helpful service. The quality/price ratio is fair, and the portions are adequate but not overly large, but you still leave feeling full, especially since the quality is so good. Some diners even asked for seconds!

A beautiful historic building that houses a good restaurant. I was there during the Sinterklaas holiday season, when Sinterklaas's house is located there. A great event for young and old (parents enjoy the children's fun).

We had nice enough food, but i lost something there and its now 36hrs and trying phone, e-mail and their ‘contact’ messaging in website & facebook & still unable to talk to a person & no communication about if its been handed in. Really disappointing ‘service’.

I ate here a few weeks ago with colleagues and partners. I really enjoyed it. I ate here this time for my birthday. Excellent food, nice atmosphere, and friendly service.

Nice place and good service. However, the croquettes were lukewarm. As if they'd been under a heat lamp. The second croquette was reheated. You'd think preparing a croquette wouldn't be complicated. For this kitchen, it is. A salmon sandwich barely tasted of fish. Perhaps more ingredients than fish. We'd rather spend our money on a kitchen that cooks with love.

The service was appalling. We waited over 20 minutes to be seated and then over an hour for our food. Without a single apology. However, the surrounding tables were served quickly and efficiently. I hope the treatment wasn't discriminatory based on our country of origin and was simply due to poor professionalism. Furthermore, the value for money is highly questionable. The place is cute, but it's not worth going unless you speak the local language or fluent English.

Had a lovely meal here with a friend on a quiet Tuesday evening; two starters, two main courses, one dessert, four house wheat beers (recommended), and two teas; €125. The service, with young staff, was excellent! Careful and attentive. A beautiful old venue with a neat decor.

I had a horrible experience with the security which seem more like a gang of bullies, gorillas and beasts than professionals. All the men working there completely lacked decency, seemingly waiting for any excuse to use their all physical power against others, including girls. I was just trying to get to the toilet the fastest way possible through the bar. Yeah, maybe it wasn't the smartest idea but at the very least I deserved to be spoken to—not grabbed with abuse. One minute later the first one grab my arm and pushed me against the glasses which was absolutely dangerous, there were three or four of them carrying and grabbing me out of the facilities. I fell to the ground and still, they pick me up roughly again and yelled at me once they pushed me outside. This experience didn’t just ruin my night, it crushed my sense of dignity. I suggest you to reconsider who you're hiring. No one deserves to be treated this way.

First of all, it looks fantastic inside, but due to the very high ceilings and large space, the acoustics aren't great and are very noisy. We were seated high up, and both the table and chair wobbled. The service could definitely be much better; upon entering, you're shown to your table instead of someone walking with you. We sat for a long time without a drink and had to really put in the effort to order something. There was no check-in between to see if the food was to your liking, only when clearing the table, etc. Fortunately, the food itself made up for a lot! The Asian platter as a starter was delicious. The Waag platter, which we ordered as a disguised main course, was fine, but we wouldn't order it again. But then there were the desserts—oh my, oh my, they were delicious and plentiful! The Lemon Lover was a treat, but the Chocolate Bombe truly exceeded all expectations. It's incredibly filling, so make sure you save room for it. All in all, we will definitely be back.

Today I tried to get a cup of coffee and/or lunch. We were shown to a table without even looking at us. Then we had to wait 12 minutes to order coffee; we didn't get a lunch menu. The staff were more busy chatting and bantering with each other than helping customers. Shameful.

My son had graduated with his master's degree, so we had something to celebrate. The staff was incredibly friendly; he asked about it, congratulated him, and even had a fun little fireworks display with his dessert. The food was delicious—the starter, the main course (salmon), and the dessert. The cocktails were perfect! Highly recommended!

Beautiful building, great location. We had a Club sandwich and Norwegian eggs. The Club was okay, but the toast was stale. The Norwegian eggs were tasty but overdone, and the egg was cold.

Veerle, a super nice young lady, served us for two days, with lunch and dinner the next day. Spontaneous, cheerful, and friendly. Thank you! The food was delicious too, and the location is beautiful and unique.

I made a reservation by phone yesterday but never received any email confirmation. When I arrived at the restaurant at the agreed time, it was closed due to the 3 October Festival (Leidens Ontzet) in Leiden. This was very disappointing... the restaurant could have at least informed me in advance about the closure. A simple call would have saved the wasted trip. Clearer communication is definitely needed.

It was a sunny day and the outside tables were packed. My husband and I were visiting my daughter and wanted to sit by the water, a coveted place, and there was a wait. Veerle was so kind to bring us beers while we waited and continued to serve us well after we went to our table. It was a great experience made all the better for the friendly staff!

I'm not particularly fond of this postmodern decor and its variations on classic dishes. But the staff is friendly, and the crowds prove that no one else cares. Beautifully situated at the confluence of the Rhine and the Mare.

It's a beautiful place. The staff is also super friendly. But there's a lot of room for improvement when it comes to the food. We got the 12 o'clock meal and the club sandwich. The bread in the club sandwich had been toasted hours ago. And it's listed under the "hot" item. There was nothing warm about this dish. Even the so-called fries are just chips. At the 12 o'clock meal, where you get eggs Benedict, soup, and a croquette sandwich, the poached egg was cold. I understand it's a large establishment and you want a fast turnover. But a little more love and care in the food would be much appreciated. Oh yeah, the biscuit with the tea was really bad. Don't give anything in that case.

The service is very bad,they are very slow when I I ordered extra ketchup,when I finshed eating they brought it and they where going to take it from another table to give it to us we have 2 tables one has ketchup and the other does not so I asked for another they were going to take it from that table and give it to us.And The menu is written in a different language so I asked what was in the sandwich she said it is written on the menu I asked again because I didn’t understand she said it’s written on the menu and refused to help. I was very shocked at the service.
