Wang’s Flavour in Staatsliedenbuurt

I ordered delivery from this restaurant two days in a row and absolutely loved the food. Having worked with Chinese people, I know what authentic Chinese cuisine tastes like, and this is by far the best Chinese restaurant I’ve eaten at in Amsterdam. I’ve been traveling to Amsterdam for nearly six years, and until I found this place, I hadn't come across any good Chinese food. I tried the duck, egg fried rice, dumplings, spring rolls, dim sum, soup, and sweet and sour chicken—everything was delicious and full of authentic flavors. I highly recommend it to everyone!

I have tried like 5-6 different Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam and this is by far the BEST!!!!!! Great flavor, generous portions and great prices.

4/10 We tried 4 recommended dishes and all of them were horrible - absolutely not what was expected. Dry, bland, hot and smelly. However, the waitress and the apple juice were nice.

Lovely atmosphere, clean and minimal. The food was great and our hostess was delightful. The restaurant is modern with a very minimalist approach, and it is CLEAN. It’s actually the first midrange Chinese takeaway/restaurant with this type of layout. Very clean cut. Loved the classical music playing in the background.

Discovered Wang's Flavor by chance, placed an order and were surprised by the quality and the large portions and delivered at the agreed time. I will definitely do this more often!!!

Great no-frills restaurant. Portions were a good size. We got the beef with vegetables, back pepper beef and fried chicken in chili sauce. You get a side of rice or noodles — highly recommend the noodles!

Food not good, way too much garlic and zero vegetables

We ordered the delivery, then waited for one and a half hour and then they just cancelled it, because "why not" 💁‍♂️

We ordered online and the order was confirmed. After over 1.5 hours it was supposed to be delivered in about 45 minutes, the order was canceled and we didn't get any food.

We ordered the small spring rolls, Beijing duck and char siew pork. The spring rolls were very crispy, but mushy inside so i would not recommend. However the start of the show was the roast duck which was excellent! Crispy skin and tender meat with the perfect seasoning. The char siew meat was very nice to, albeit on the sweet side with some honey drizzled on top. Maybe that could be a dip instead for who wants. Both dishes were served on top of bokchoy vegetables. It’s not super cheap, but i think the prices are correct for the amount and quality of food you get. Service was also very attentive to my gluten allergy so it’s a full 5 stars for me but please improve the spring roll filling.

We tried Wang’s Flavour as a delivery dinner and were a bit disappointed by the dishes. Very oily/watery sauce with the YuXiang eggplant and Mapodofu. Also, why put cilantro, carrots and garden peas in these dishes? Looks and tastes nothing like the original, which is a pity as they are super delicious.

Very good food, especially for the area. It seems a bit expensive compared to other places, but portion size and quality really justify it.

We ordered here, had 2x spicy dumplings, garlic beef & gong bar chicken The dumplings were really delicious and the meat of all dishes was of excellent quality. Unfortunately the sauces of the main dishes were a bit bland - especially for Sichuan cuisine

The mapo tofu, gong bao dishes, and siu jiao soup are highly recommended

Ordered food here. Generally OK, not special but good nonetheless. The shrimp dumplings, however, were extremely fishy/not fresh, which was a real shame.

The portions are really nice comparing to the prices. However the spare ribs are way too sweet for me, I know Chinese food usually have lots of intense flavor, but this is incredibly sweet. I recommend you should go for Roasted duck or pork belly thus most of meat options on the menu are sweet.

Good food, but please next time cancel the order if it takes close to 1.5 hours to get a driver to deliver the food. Some people might wait 1 hour but 2 hours is too much.

Such an underrated spot. Try the Beijing Ya with Pancakes and ALWAYS end with the liu sha bao for dessert

Delicious food. And the portions were large. I took almost half home. The staff was very friendly but they did not come by to serve drinks. Most people came by to pick up and they were very busy so we ended up just drinking our own water.

Delicious noodle soup! Warm welcome and nice service. I forgot my backpack in the restaurant and the staff found my email address and sent me an email to let me know I can pick up my backpack and it was in safe hands. Very nice people!

Ordered the Chongqing noodles, authentic flavour and tasted fantastic. My friend ordered the chicken chow mein and was very happy too, especially as he asked for extra spicy and the chef obliged. My friend finds it hard to find places that will meet his spice addiction, but this place was one of them! It was very quiet when we went, but the atmosphere was very pleasant. The staff were really friendly and the chef was attentive in making the dishes just how we wanted. Great experience, highly recommend!

Great value for money and at least 2 steps up from the localised Chinese food at your regular Chinese place. I would count myself a regular.

The place is just amazing. Not very spacious inside but the food … AMAZING. Yes, I know I already used word AMAZING many times here but did I told that the food is really AMAZING ?!!! 😍 keep in mind that the portion sizes are very big and 1 portion is usually enough for 2 people 🙂

Very tasty Chinese cuisine, would love to come back again. I just thought it was a bit expensive because portions are smaller compared to other Chinese restaurants

Eerste keer heel lekker gegeten met wontonsoep en maakten ze voor ons vegetarische dumplings. Alleen haalde ik een bamisoep af met loempia’s en dat was niet lekker. Loempia zat niks in behalve rijstnoodles, ze waren heel groot dus je kan beter kleine met vulling geven dan dit. En die bamisoep was heel veel bami vooral. Jammer had echt zin om weer bij jullie te bestellen.

Love coming here, always a good place for traditional Chinese food

I generally find Google map reviews to be spot on but this one was overrated. The chicken in the chicken fried rice was all thigh meat and was not trimmed or skinned. The beef in the stir fries noodles with beef was ok but a little chewy. Perhaps an off day for the cook but a little disappointing nonetheless.

Wang’s Flavour used to be good 2 years ago. Right now I am super disappointed with their food. The restaurant itself is your typical Chinese restaurant, nothing too crazy, there’s seating area with quite some tables. Staff is usually nice and helpful (except for this one time the woman seemed tired and grumpy). The last 3 times I’ve ordered they just didn’t get the rice right. One time overcooked, another time dry and a couple days ago yet again super dry. I ordered spicy chicken which is basically deep fried tiny chicken pieces with some fried onion. No sauce. Imagine eating all this dryness with dry rice on the side. I thought I was gonna choke. And that’s €17.50, too. Their shrimp dumplings are okay, but the shrimp itself has a very fishy flavour if you know what I mean. Way too overpriced and quality has gone down. Flavour overall is okay, but it’s not worth it for me. Won’t be buying again unfortunately.

It was really really tasty! I didn’t expect this when going inside but I was surprised in a positive way. The tee was also very good. I really can recommend this restaurant.

Updated summer 2023: prices have been increased tremendously and the quantity lowered. So disappointing, after so many years of loyalty from my side. Moreover last time I took my favourite, Spicy tofu, I found it different than usual, the sauce was not tick, more liquid and oily. Like it was made by a new chef. I am reluctant to order now again

Heerlijk gegeten, de aubergine was onze favoriet.

If you are a fan of the Chinese Sichuan kitchen, eat here! Top quality food, well balanced flavors, highly recommended! Worth a detour. If you expect a luxury dinning setting do go somewhere else! A little gem of a restaurant!

One of the best value for money Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam! Everything is delicious but I want to highlight something that is usually not mentioned when you say Chinese restaurants: the dessert. You HAVE to try the egg yolk buns. I could eat 10 of them

Nice food, tasty and worth a try.

Geroosterde pekingeend met pannekoek, witte rijst en groente!!! Dat zou ik iedere dag kunnen eten. Heel lekker!

Wat een toptent, authentiek Chinese Szechuan keuken. Het buikspek met paksoi en de gebakken kipdumplings waren beide geweldig, maar de knaller was de ossenhaas in zwarte peper saus. Wat een gerecht, nog nooit zoiets geproefd. Toetje van gefrituurde custardballetjes met sesam was ook hemels. Je bent hier in handen van echte vakmensen. Ik hou van Aziatisch eten maar zo goed als hier vind je het op niet veel plekken in Amsterdam. Grote aanrader!

Hidden gem in Amsterdam. We ordered the 5 spices beef and the spicy pork dumplings for entrée and it was really the highlight. For mains we had yu Xiang aubergine, Beijing ya and hong shao beef. Everything was very nice. The prices are also good.

Very authentic, rich and delicious food. Ambient music a little too somnolent for my taste, but no big deal. Friendly staff too!

Great place to eat authentic chinese food. Just outside the busy downtown area, you can dine with good food. Westerpark is close by, easy access to many places. A lot of variety dishes, choose the classic ones or the more exotic chinese dishes. I will definitely come back soon.

I’m a bit critical about the Chinese food so for me the taste is normal. I ordered a beef noodle and some tofu slices (cold dish), the beef was tender and elastic, the noodle was not my type, it’s not elastic. The tofu slices were good, I liked that.

Zelden zo’n mooie krokante loempia mogen ervaren als van deze chef. Je proeft de liefde die is ingepakt in deze smakelijke lunch. Het product wordt in een plastic afbreekbare doos verpakt met een zoete sambal bij.

We ordered in. Quite probably the best Chinese food I have eaten outside China. Have lived in China for 4 years and Wang’s paksoi with mushrooms tasted like Shanghai, the Sicuan beef was tender and hot, deep, tongue numbing. The dim sum, which hardly ever reaches your house in an edible state, was light and brought me back to Din Tai Fung. Amazing and so much different from the middle of the road tastes of Dutch Chinese. Don’t tell anyone else

De uitgebreide kaart, maakt het kiezen steeds een beetje moeilijk omdat je weet dat alles lekker is. Het onderscheid zich van de Chinees/Nerlandsche restaurants, door hun authentieke smaken. De steeds weer vriendelijke service en warm /knus restaurant, zijn een bonus. Onze favoriete gerechten zijn, Ossenhaas met zwarte pepersaus & Gewokte garnalen met pittige saus.
