A friendly welcome from the lady behind the counter. I ordered various delicacies to take back to Friesland. The food and the individually wrapped sauce were well packaged. The bami, the chicken and chicken breast, the satay, bakka bana, the vegetables, and the rolls were delicious. What a flavor explosion, fantastic. Luckily, they had real satay sauce petjel and a delicious gravy to go with the meat/bami. I'm going back to Amsterdam soon and will definitely visit this Warung then.

I was craving saoto. Saoto is an Indonesian soup that you can't eat as a starter; once you've eaten it, you'll be full, because it's a complete meal that's absolutely delicious. In other words, it's incredibly delicious 😀 If you've never had it, it's worth trying!

The atmosphere is irrelevant here. Ordered online and picked up. Reception: Very rude reception in the store; Food: Chicken roti - more oil than roti. Of course, tastes differ. However, there's no arguing about quality.

The place is small but cozy, and the staff are also friendly. The food was delicious, with good portions and a good price. We look forward to eating there again.

Excellent food, generous portions for a reasonable price. Servers are kind but very busy so they may forget some items you ordered, but they will quickly correct if you bring it to their attention.

I have been ordering from here for almost a year. Food is delicious never any complaints, but I have never seen the store itself 🤣🤣🤣. The outside does not look so good and crumbled. I got food poisoning from the roti chicken old, tough bread, rotten chicken and a sour smell to the sauce. No apologies, no responsibility. Bad food, bad service. Waste of your money and your health.

Good place with a nice kitchen. We had beef and soup (701 large). One soup is enough for a grown man to have as a meal. Be careful with additional spices/souces. The yellow/orange one forced me to rething my how level of tolerance for a hot spicy food :D

A gem in Amsterdam! The best saoto I've eaten. Much better service than Warung Mini and also cheaper. I can highly recommend Warung Rahayu who does not know this yet. A regular customer!

Got 4 delicious sandwiches here with my colleague. Both very satisfied, nice takeaway shop and extensive menu. Sandwiches were really delicious, but very spicy. I don't blame the good man, because it is always difficult to estimate. If you don't like spicy, you know this :). For the rest highly recommended!

I ordered takeaway from this place and unfortunately ended up with food poisoning. Very disappointing experience, as I had expected better food safety standards. I hope they take measures to improve their hygiene practices to ensure this doesn't happen to others.

A cute little place just a few steps off of Overtoom. There’s not that many tables, though I’ve never had difficulty finding a seat for my family of 3 everytime I came here. We stayed in Wilhelminastraat about 100m away, so I came here often for their soto. Where I come from we have a large Jawa population, so I’m pretty familiar with soto. This Surinamese variant does not stray far. At €8 for a big bowl, it’s a steal. Like a warm hug from the inside that spreads through to the whole body, it’s a great in-between meal. I hate taugeh, so I always ask them to keep it out from my bowl. I tried the rames and a roti rendang one of the other days, and it was okay, on par with the other restaurants that serve it. I’m just guessing here, but probably due to how labor is compensated, you will find it hard to get made-to-order food in any Indonesian/Surinamese restaurant, where instead it’s scooped out from chafing dishes and heated in a microwave. It lacks that fresh feeling. Considering all that though, still a good meal. I highly recommend this place, it’s worth the tram ride if you’re in town.

Saoto soup was great. The rotirol and bakabana peanut are also truly one of the best I have eaten in Amsterdam. Delicious spicy sambal. Keep it up and I'll keep coming back.

Second time I've eaten here. This time I had the (vegan!) beans and rice and the baka bana with peanut sauce (also vegan) Everything was amazing. The peanut sauce is perfectly spicy and the beans were buttery soft.

Unfortunate that I wasn’t able to snap a picture, as the smell and my hunger for the best of me. But I will allow my words to do justice to the lamb roti that I ordered here yesterday. I had hope that the food would be good, particularly because it was a lamb roti, and they did not disappoint. The lamb was so tender and soft that chewing was effortless. The overall flavour of the food was pretty consistent and the roti wrap tasted fresh and soft. Overall, the price for quality was a good spend. This place gets my recommendation for a good bite!

Helaas. Lang gewacht op 2x saté (lams) en verwachtigen waren hoog, ook omdat het lang duurde. Prijs 18 euro. Weet niet waar ze vandaan gehaald zijn maar ze waren TAAI en niet het geld waard. Teleurstellend. Bami en nasi dat erbij besteld was, was oké.

Als Surinamer eet ik niet vaak Surinaams buiten. Maar voor deze zaak maak ik regelmatig een uitzondering. Vooral de saoto 😋

Voor de lekkerste soto soep van Amsterdam moet je hier zijn.

Altijd wel positief over hun alleen laatst een loempia kip gehaald was voornamelijk deeg met een beetje groenten en 2 kleine stukjes kip filet en dat voor 3,25 erg jammer .. maar over het algemeen wel lekker!

Das Essen war Katastrophe, sehr salzig und hat nur nach Maggi geschmeckt. Nudelsuppe war ein Reinfall. Man erwartet beim asiatischen Lokal kein gekochten Spaghetti! Ein Stern für das freundliche Personal

Irma makes the best SAOTO soup in this city hands down. I've tried them all in the corners of this city and this one just hits the #1 spot on every visit. It's a small and still old school Surinamese place (hard to find in the city center these days). Most old restaurants have been modernised to keep up with the changing environment and hipster-fast-pace-city life, this place has remained slow and authentic in the purest sense of the word. Expect no facy chairs, cutlery or tables, because the real taste is not in the appearance of the place... ...it's in the SOUL of the food. PS. Consider getting some good Saoto, search no longer. This is where you need to go!

Een leuke en gezellige warung waar je heerlijke maaltijd kunt bestellen en ook laten bezorgen!

Altijd goed eten! Goede porties, erg lekker! Tevens ook echt lekkere dawet! De prijzen en het kwaliteit van het eten zijn erg goed! Rahayu is zoals het Javaans eten moet zijn en hoort te smaken! Ga zo door! Tevens ook altijd aardige bezorgers!

De Berkat smaakte voortreffelijk. Zeker een aanrader.

Om je vingers bij af te likken. Perfect op afgesproken tijd bezorgd, het eten was heerlijk en goede porties. Veel verschillende dingen besteld en alles was top!

Sauto goed gevuld wel erg zout, bami en nasi , kip weinig smaak ,zuurgoed zeker van een paar dagen en snel bezorgd.

Op 13 oktober voor 3 personen eten besteld....we zijn alle 3 kenners en we gaven allemaal een 10....lekker, veel en warm

Vandaag eten bij Warung Rahayu besteld. Het werd snel geleverd door hun eigen medewerker en het eten was heerlijk! Super goed zo als zij naar hun klanten luisteren.

Lieve mensen, heerlijk eten, zeer gul voor de prijs die ze vragen. Rijst met bruine bonen en groente is erg lekker, zeker eens het proberen waard. Hun vegetarische roti ook altijd een feest om te eten. Love!!

Van de ene op de andere dag heeft Warung Rahayu zonder waarschuwing gigantische prijsverhogingen doorgevoerd. Niet een paar cent, neen vijf en twintig, vijftig eurocent tot zelfs een euro duurder. Te zot voor woorden. U snapt, bij deze zaak zal ik niets meer bestellen.

We hebben eten besteld en thuis bezorgd gekregen. Hoewel niet meer heel warm ging dat redelijk goed. Het eten zelf had smaak. Er zat weinig vulling in met groenten. Een beetje benepen. Verder hadden we kroepoek en bananenchips besteld, ieder voor ca 2 euro. Dat bleek lachwekkend te zijn. Erg klein formaat, nauwelijks voldoende om een had te vullen.

Cuisine simple, copieuse, à base de riz ou de pâtes, agrémentées de viande ou de crevettes, le tout avec des épices. Les portions sont très généreuses !
