I've been coming here since I was a child, always with the most delicious fries from the nicest chip shop in Amsterdam.

Today I had delicious fries with mayo and piccalilli and had a nice conversation. I'll definitely be back!

Delicious fries in a perfect location. There's also a very friendly man at the stall, guaranteed to have a nice chat with him (when it's quiet). I definitely recommend it if you're in Amsterdam.

What a disaster. All the little pieces were overcooked and overcooked. Far too little sauce, and all for €4. I returned it and was told by the guy that he's known for his hard, overcooked fries. Worst fry experience ever! I did get my money back, though.

It was a bit little, both the fries and the mayo for a lot of money. (5.50)

Disappointed with french fries harder than concrete. Not sure what I was served, but it wasn't fresh and inedible.

Great fries and great family establishment. Get the picalilli.

The Facebook page says open until 7 p.m. When you walk there, the man is already cleaning everything at 6:15 PM. 'Sorry, we are closed'. Don't do it a second time either.

Friendly quirky owner. Looks like he makes them fresh there.

I live next door. Yet I get fries everywhere but here. Portions are ok, quality is poor and the guy is straight up obnoxious.

EXCELLENT, the owner even posed for a picture with the fresh cut fries. This a food stand by the WestKirk church. Just the fries are a meal in themselves.

Sehr leckere Fritten und Frikandeln. Der Verkäufer ist super lustig und spricht viele Sprachen. Kann einen Snack nur empfehlen!

Frites maison vraiment incroyables et délicieuses, bien meilleures que toutes les prétendues "meilleures frites Amsterdam". Par contre les hot-dogs vraiment pas bon, du surgelé réchauffer au micro-ondes.

Je suis partagé. D'un côté les frites maison sont excellentes, et de l'autre les hotdogs sont achetés au supermarché et réchauffé au micro onde devant vos yeux. Bref, si vous voulez y aller, ne prenez que des frites.

Wil Graanstra is een grappige frietverkoper met markante verschijning (kale kop, rode bril) en typisch Amsterdamse humor die toeristen mogelijk als 'brutaal' zouden kunnen opvatten. Zijn frietjes zijn jammer genoeg niet super, erg prijzig, niet bijzonder van smaak en met maar een klein likje mayonaise erover. Wie echt lekkere friet wil eten, loopt door naar Vlemminckx of Manneken Pis.

Realmente las mejores patatas que probamos en Amsterdam. El dueño sabe hablar castellano y es muy agradable.

Sehr freundlicher Herr der mehrere Sprachen kann. Den Imbiss führt er in zweiter Generation. Immer frische Fritten aus frisch geschälten Kartoffeln.

Chip shops are springing up all over Amsterdam, but there are only a few really great ones, of which Wil Graanstra is amongst the best. Located in a stall in front of Amsterdam's Wester Church, the Graanstra family have been serving French fries here since 1956, prepared from freshly cut potatoes of the best varieties. French fries in fact originated in neighbouring Belgium where, according to historians potatoes were already being fried in the late 1600's. Although the stall sells soft drinks, hamburgers, hotdogs and other snacks people travel for miles to sample the chips which are perfectly crunchy while remaining deliciously soft on the inside. These are served with a wooden fork in paper bags, topped with a wide variety of sauces, of which real mayonnaise is the most popular. Patat Oorlog which translates as War Chips, a peanut sauce-mayonnaise combination, is also worth trying. You have the choice of small or large portions.

Fries were amazing, some of the best I've had. Owner is a total character, love him! Do recommend.

Not recomended. Fries are badlly made, Small portions and they dont give a lot sause.

We thought this place had great pommes frites. Cooked to perfection and tasty. A great place to get a snack while waiting in line to go into Anne Frank house around the corner
