We were a huge group (20 ppl) having dinner there. The restaurant staff were super nice to help us rearrange and setup tables. We had a great dinner there! Foodwise we ordered mainly mix grill big plates, which is enough to share for 2 ppl if you are not crazy hungry and quouzi with soup ! The unlimited fresh baked bread/pita is the best and the authentic proof for a Middle Eastern restaurant: ) Warning: there is no alcohol drinks hhhhh we found out last minute. The house drinks are like ice smoothies, a bit sweet IMO. We had a wonderful dinner with the beautiful balcony view. Cozy and warm

For Iraqi BBQ and other authentic dishes, you absolutely must go to Zaffraan. Here you'll experience Iraqi hospitality as it should be. His lamb kebab (ground meat skewers) is wonderfully tender and served with delicious fresh, warm naan bread—the best kebab skewers in the Netherlands! The appetizers are also highly recommended. Small portions of cold appetizers with warm naan bread are served complimentary. Iraqi tea is also served complimentary after your meal! A truly Iraqi experience!

A wonderfully delicious restaurant with authentic dishes. We found the portions a bit small. The mezzanines didn't come with much bread, and no rice or fries were served with the meat. For the price, that's understandable. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back.

Excellent food, the atmosphere was reasonable, though it wasn't particularly romantic, but it was good. The service was also very friendly. They try to make you feel at home. We had the cold and warm metze; the warm one wasn't much to write home about, but it was tasty, but we wouldn't go back. The cold metze were delicious, and the lamb chops tasted a bit like mutton, which was a bit less so.

My friends and I came to Amsterdam and decided on an Iraqi restaurant. I searched the internet and by chance we ate at this restaurant, Saffron. It was wonderful and beyond wonderful. The food was delicious, and the reception was excellent. We felt the kindness, generosity, and good nature of authentic Iraqis. In addition to the cheerful spirit of the restaurant owner (Abu Ahmed) and his sons. We ate Aleppo kibbeh, bulgur, and unusual appetizers. We also ate lamb qouzi with okra, beans, kunafa, and tea.

We walked 40minutes to this place and it was worth every minute! Food is delicious, we tried cold mezze set for two and it is amazing! Chicken was also soft, juicy and delicious. Friendly and helpful staff, cosy atmosphere. Great place for dinner, we would love to come again soon.

The food is good and tastes delicious, mixed grills, Iraqi kebab, hummus, rice with halva and hot bread are great. The treatment is very nice, the service is excellent, the staff Mrs. Fatima and Mrs. Tayba treat them wonderfully and provide the service in a professional manner with a smile and kindness. I repeated the visit again and the quality of the food is very wonderful and the service providers are nice, wonderful and welcoming. Brother Muhammad provides the service with high professionalism and nice treatment, as well as the waiter Lina and Mrs. Tayba, they treat them kindly and wonderfully. Matataam wins 🥇 and is well worth a visit. The dishes are very delicious, especially the chicken shish kebab, rice, and appetizers. The bread is amazing. I had an incredible experience at this Iraqi restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — full of rich, authentic flavors that took me straight to the heart of Iraq. We ate here yesterday with a group of 12. Nice, informal atmosphere. Delicious dishes. The leg of lamb was incredibly good.

Went for ribs, looked great, meat was tender, but the taste is very bland. I think 30 euro was too high for what you get. My dad ordered the mixed grill, cant say anything about the taste, but pretty overpriced as well considering the quantity. The current rating of 4.7 is way too high, between 3.5 and 4.0 is what to expect here. Side note: being an arabic place they wont serve alcohol (not a negative but something to be aware of)

Saffron Restaurant is an Iraqi eatery that serves delicious and unique dishes. They have the best grilled meats I've ever tasted, and the authentic tandoor bread adds a special touch to the meal. God bless them!

Absolutely loved our visit to this amazing restaurant! My friends and I went after a tennis session, and it was the perfect spot to unwind. The food was absolutely delicious, packed with flavour, and the drinks were super refreshing. The highlight for me was getting a behind the scenes look at how they make their flatbread. Such a unique and memorable experience. Highly recommend!

Everything was just so good, no artificial meat just pure meat. It was so good.

Unfortunately the service team and the owner were not only unkind but judgemental. We had two waiters one sullen man and one attentive woman. Between the pair they got their wires crossed. The man and the manager then proceed to tell me I must have ordered two children’s meal when I only had one child with me. Very interesting. I do not recommend going here. It’s a shame as I love tabouli and theirs was quite good. Hard to find a decent tabouli here in Amsterdam. The other dishes were ok but not fantastic and therefore in my view over priced.

I have tried most of the foods they have, and they are all great. The staff are very nice and friendly, especially the owner. The freshly baked bread is their signature, and we always buy extra to take away.

No. 1 Iraqi Arabic Restaurant in Amsterdam

Visited the place recently, in terms of taste and quality, the meat and the desert were pretty good, was grilled over charcoal but the start of the show was the naan. However, the salads and starters were quite unimpressive, and I personaly avoided them.

⸻ Zaffran is definitely the right place for those who are craving kebabs in Amsterdam! The meats were extremely tasty, well marinated and cooked to perfection. Every plate, from lamb shish to Adana, was both filling and visually appetizing. The appetizers were fresh and generously portioned; especially when combined with the warm lavash that came with it, a wonderful balance of flavors emerges. The prices are also quite reasonable by Amsterdam standards: Main courses are usually around 15–20 Euros, which is definitely worth it when you consider the taste and quality. The place has a clean, spacious and warm atmosphere; the service team was attentive and friendly. In short, they say it is hard to find a good kebab in Europe, but Zaffran breaks this perception. Only bread was good. Kebab fatty and bad quality meat, almost no salad or potato but ok. No pickles no nothing. Chicken same thing added spices but like comeon!! No saus like garlic nothing.

Second time I came to treat my mother in law, but extremely disappointed! Waited 45 minutes, they lost our order, etc. Which is fine but basic hospitality suggests that you should at least apologize and bring something to say sorry. Never coming here again sorry, plenty other places with better service, DO BETTER!

I visited Zafraan Restaurant yesterday, and as always, it was a wonderful experience. The food was incredibly delicious, and I often bring tourists from my country Bahrain & from gcc, they always give positive feedback about the food quality. Many thanks to the management for maintaining such high standards and a strong reputation. Special thanks to the lady who was working yesterday for her kind and respectful service. I also truly appreciate how the restaurant reflects the warm Iraqi hospitality, especially with the lovely tea served after the meal. It’s a beautiful touch that adds to the authentic experience.

The Iraqi kebab is amazing, God willing, and the girls are very friendly and welcoming, and the place for the session is comfortable. It brought us together with a friend whom we met after 30 years. Thank you to those who run this restaurant, it is really worth a visit
