Zappa's Nijmegen in Wijk 01 Nijmegen-Centrum

I ordered an Insalata Pollo with extra shrimp. The chicken was raw, the shrimp seemed to come straight from a supermarket package, and the dish had virtually no flavor. I pointed this out immediately, but as a solution, they were only willing to refund the cost of the shrimp. Because I had taken 2 or 3 bites, they couldn't do anything else. As if you can detect raw chicken without tasting it. For €65.60, you expect much better. Serving raw chicken and then handling a complaint like this is simply unacceptable. Never again Zappas for me.

bad and DIRTY cutlery was given to us, food took ages, drinks weren't delivered as written on the drinks menu, we were given the wrong stuff. we had carbonara pasta and pasta zappa. both pastas were a pure disappointment. the carbonara had disgusting meat, and the sauce is the worst I've ever had. the pasta zappa was a horrible dish, hardly any "grilled beef" (it was so grey it might've been boiled). more fruit juice than any other flavour, my pasta was floating in "sweet and spicy" moisture. we couldn't finish it. picture is what's left over of the so called "food". an utter disappointment of a restaurant.

Wow, I've never eaten such a delicious sandwich. Italian roll with feta. And the serving ladies were certainly lovely too.

My wife and I came here to have dinner, it took half an hour before the food arrived, so with the amount of time it took, you expect the food to be OK, but right when my wife started to eat the food, she noticed something very odd, the carbonara was spicy, but a type of spice that made the carbonara completely inedible. This was really strange because a carbonara is typically not spicy at all. The restaurant was lucky that we are not ones to make a big fuss, or worse, that we're sensitive to spicy food (allergies), because it is not a mistake that should be taken lightly, given that people can end up in hospitals for mistakes as such, or that a child could have eaten it by mistake. For this I can only give it the lowest score.

The boy who was cleaning the workbench had his shoes on the workbench where food was being prepared in order to reach the top shelf. Also, only Dasty was sprayed, causing the mist to end up in the ingredients.

Very average restaurant in the middle of Nijmegen. Regarding the food: The Pizza Picante was tasty, with a nice thin crust and crispy edge. The Pasta Gambaretti was unfortunately very tasteless. Additionally, the only pasta option was penne, which is a very mediocre type of pasta. On top of that, the Aperol Spritz was good and the beer was too, but you can't really go wrong with that, haha. The service was fine, but not good. There was one friendly waitress, but that was about it. We were also supposed to get bread with dips beforehand, but we didn't get a bowl of bread until our main courses were served, without any dipping sauces. We also had to wait quite a long time for those main courses, by the way, but luckily we had a good time together. A decent place, but don't expect too much.

I ordered pasta with a friend of mine. It was delicious. The air conditioning is set to just the right level. The staff is very friendly and attentive. And the restaurant smells very good.

After asking a waitress 4 times where my pizza was, and still not having received anything an hour later, I just walked away. At the very least, make a bit of an effort to walk over to the cook or chef and ask where it is. 5 people came after me and all got pizza, but I didn't. Communication was impossible to reach anywhere.

Yesterday, I ordered a pizza and pasta by phone for takeout. On the phone, I was told we could pick up the order in about 30 minutes. We arrived at Zappa’s after 35 minutes. Upon arrival, it turned out the pizza was ready, but the pasta had not yet been made due to a ‘communication error’. That can happen, of course, but we then had to wait another 10 minutes or so. While waiting, the manager mentioned the ordered pizza and pasta. However, the name of the pasta did not match what we had ordered. When I pointed out that I didn't think this was the right pasta, the manager reacted quite stressed and said: “What is that cold pasta called again?” The way this was said did not come across as very professional or customer-friendly. Eventually, we were given the pizza and pasta to take home. Unfortunately, upon arriving home, it turned out that the pizza had completely cooled down by then and apparently had not been put back in the oven. It is a shame, because a mistake or delay can happen, of course, but the combination of the waiting, the communication, and ultimately a cold pizza made the experience disappointing.

The food was really not good, unfortunately I would never come back 🥲

The 3rd day of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches. After strolling around and listening to the bands, we got hungry. This restaurant looked cozy, and it was. Friendly service, no rushing – we noticed others were waiting too... Wide menu selection, we took our time and had a TRULY DELICIOUS meal. So as soon as you read this, don't hesitate, just go!!! We will definitely be back :)

One of the worst pizzas ever. The crust was not fresh at all and you could clearly taste that there was no Italian in the kitchen. A shame.

Just a greasy spoon that gives any Italian an instant weeping heart. Just like a student makes pasta: mozzarella pesto, carbonara into which you tip a jar of cream sauce, drizzle balsamic over everything, pile your half-cooked prefabricated pizza base with sliced ​​sausage, and throw an extra lump of sugar into the tomato sauce. People, just add another euro and a half and go eat a carbonara at a decent place that surpasses the Bertolli level. This is simply the equivalent of an average beach bar: invested in a good location at one point and then filling their pockets with very mediocre food.

Went out for dinner this afternoon with my daughter and son-in-law. Ordered a nice baguette beforehand, but oops, forgot to bring it. My son-in-law had a pizza, but it had been in the oven a bit too long. My daughter and I had pasta, which tasted good, but we had to get some fries afterwards; the portions were very small. So we decided to order dessert as well; after waiting for almost half an hour, we asked for the bill. Fortunately, the baguette and the desserts, which we never had, were listed on it. A bit of a shame, this. One more thing for the owner: train your staff well so they also keep an eye on the customers to see if they might want another drink. What slow service! On top of that, they don't have ice for the drinks with an outside temperature of 28 and a fridge that isn't working properly. Having to wait 1.5 hours for food? Never again.

Pizza was tasty but nothing special, average. Glass of wine: the smallest glass I have ever seen, also in terms of capacity. The quality of the wine is substandard. I really don't think that is acceptable for that price.

The table offered was still dirty. An apology from the wait staff helped, but did not lead to improvement. First but last time. Dear Laura The pizzas here… well. People complain that they are 90% burnt, but I don't think that is even just down to the oven. That “crust” is so wafer-thin that it looks more like a cracker than a pizza. Maybe you should have a moment of realization? At the very least try to make something that actually looks like a crust? And then the menu: you literally have two things – pasta and pizza. How hard can it be to do *that* a little bit right? Apparently harder than expected. As far as I'm concerned, this place has no right to exist like this.

Zappa’s is one of those places where you walk in without any hassle and are seated at a table pretty quickly, right in the middle of the city. The atmosphere is relaxed and a bit lively; no fancy fuss, just a very accessible spot where you easily end up hanging out. The food clearly reflects what they focus on: simple Italian dishes that are well executed. The pizzas have a thin crust and fresh toppings, and the pastas are flavorful. You can tell they make a lot of it themselves. You’ll see us back again soon.

Truly the best pizza I have ever had. The pasta was delicious too. Pleasantly busy and we had to wait a little while. But I understand that with this tasty food and good prices. We will definitely be back!

Went for dinner today, the pasta funghi was good. The Margherita pizza was burnt and literally broke into pieces. Such a shame, we're not used to Zappa's.

Zappa's unfortunately has nothing to do with an Italian pizzeria. Italians would never use eggs in their pizza dough, but here they do. Things like chicken and shawarma also don't belong on an Italian pizza. Zappa's is more of a fast-food restaurant. It's also a shame that in 2026, there are exactly zero plant-based options on the menu. I think giving one star is childish, but the pizzas are mediocre, and Zappa's pretends to be something it's not.

One of the worst Italian restaurant I have ever seen in the world. Pizza is done with low quality ingredients. Moreover, take care that credit card are not accepted and there is only just a tick note close to the cashier to inform you.

What's missing is a good manager. The staff is friendly and tries hard, but they simply don't see certain things. For example, the long waits for guests, the lack of clarity about who's turn it is, and the cold. We were eating with our coats on. Surely a light should have been turned on. We repeatedly mentioned that it was cold and our legs were freezing off. Ultimately, this significantly affected the atmosphere, and we went home instead of having coffee and dessert. A missed opportunity!

I know it's a fast-food Italian restaurant, but no, it definitely wasn't good! They won't see me again.

The food and service are excellent here. The pizzas are very tasty. However, the restrooms aren't clean, and I've already noticed several times that staff don't wash their hands after using the restroom.

It's somewhat similar to Happy Italy, only less of a "foodie" vibe. The food is delicious, but I personally found the pizza crust too thin and far too crispy. As a result, it kept breaking into 100 pieces when I folded the slice. The restaurant is located in the heart of the city, so there's plenty to see through the windows. All in all, a fun and delicious recommendation if you've spent a day shopping in Nijmegen and want to grab a bite to eat afterward.

We can call ourselves regular customers. Due to circumstances, we hadn't been back for a while. That's why the service and customer service were a huge disappointment. Service was always very slow, and they forgot everything. The vegan pizza had chewing gum on it because of the cheese, and the toppings were thin. The pasta was cold, only warm underneath, and didn't seem very fresh anymore. The green pesto was so thin instead of pesto water, the young man who helped us said it should be that way, which of course wasn't true. The noise from the kitchen was unbearable, with loud banging on metal. In short, we were very disappointed, as it was always pleasant to be there and eat.

After a long time I had warm soup and thin crust pizaa. Staff was caring. I love the food and vibe.

Yesterday, after a cremation, I passed by this restaurant. I hadn't been there in years. It wasn't busy. I waited outside for 40 minutes for the pasta I ordered. When I asked where it was, it still had to be made, so I adjusted it. I was allowed to pay for my €5.50 glass of wine, and after a vague excuse from the waitress, I left. I worked in hospitality for years. I had left the wine on the bill as an excuse. What a pathetic place... And now, after TWO months, I read that someone named Laura responded and asked if I could send an email... oh my god... I didn't think so.

We had lunch here and it was fantastic! The healthy focaccia was generously topped, and the Margherita pizza was a good size and very tasty. The staff was very friendly, and the place had a great atmosphere. Highly recommended if you're looking for lunch in Nijmegen 🤩

Last weekend, my boyfriend and I went to Zappa's for dinner, and what a wonderful surprise! From the moment we walked in, we felt instantly welcome; it was cozy and modern, with just that little bit of Italian flair. We started with a bread dip to share—super fresh and full of flavor. Then I had the pesto pasta, and my boyfriend went for the pizza formaggi. That crust… so thin and crispy, just how it should be. You can just taste the freshness. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality you get.

We went in for lunch today. It wasn't busy and we were sitting within sight, but we were simply ignored, while others were offered a menu and a drink. We're not as regular customers anymore.

We ate here with six people during the four-day week. The drinks were served. Beer in a plastic glass? The soft drinks came in small glasses and were lukewarm! €4.25 for a small, lukewarm glass of soft drink is ridiculous. We immediately complained about this, and they brought ice cubes as a solution?! Most people ordered a pizza. A €17.00-€18.00 After waiting an hour and a half for our food, we indicated we wanted to leave and pay for our drinks. We were told the food would arrive within 5 minutes. So we waited anyway, and indeed, the food arrived within 5 minutes. If you charge that much for a pizza, it should be a distinctive pizza. You'd expect that! But no, this was a regular pizza. By the way, it was still delicious! All in all, we didn't have a great evening here, especially considering the price of the drinks and the incredibly long wait. Yes, it was during the four-day week, and you know the place is packed. But I don't think they were prepared for that at all. And then they charged a premium!

We recently ate here, but unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The food was not tasty, even downright dirty. The service also left much to be desired: staff was unfriendly and arrogant, especially when you asked for something. What bothered us most was the feeling that we were treated unfairly. Dutch guests were treated kindly, but we – with a different background – were approached rudely and distantly. That felt really painful and discriminatory. In addition, the toilet was dirty and unkempt, which completed the negative image. For the money we paid, we expected much more. In any case, we will never come back here. I'm not one for reviews, but this place forces me to. I went last year and had to wait an hour for a mediocre pasta. People who came in later got their food served earlier. A fool doesn't stumble over the same stone twice, but I did. Went again yesterday and after 15 minutes still no menu was shoved under my nose. I just walked out of the place and won't walk in again.

Today I had a pasta verde, a fristi and a glass of water. The bill was 27.45 euros. I didn't notice it at the time, but too much was written off of me. In addition, the cutlery and glasses were dirty. Unfortunately, there was also so much grease on the plate of pasta that the pasta was literally floating in the grease.

Nice for a quick bite, food is very good, not a lot of choice and decor a la MC Donald. Friendly staff but not a place where you sit for a long time at the table.

Ondanks dat er groot op de kaart staat dat het personeel graag meedenkt bij voedselallergieen/diëten, is hier in werkelijkheid weinig sprake. Zo bleken er geen glutenvrije opties te zijn (wat natuurlijk kan), maar bij navraag of ik dan ergens anders wat te eten mocht halen zodat ik dat alsnog gezellig samen met mijn vrienden kon opeten, gaf het personeel aan dat ik dit absoluut niet binnen mocht opeten. Vervolgens kon ik dit in m'n eentje buiten voor de ingang opeten terwijl mn vrienden binnen genoten van hun pastas en pizzas. We konden er gelukkig om lachen, maar grappig is het niet. Echt bizar, verbaasd en respectloos om iemand die door medische redenen niet alles mag eten zo buiten te zetten.

The food is great, the atmosphere can be tricky - there's usually a crowd and it can be noisy. The service is fine, but we often had to wait ages to get anyone to take our orders and bring out our food. They weren't so slow for the check though! 😂

Nice restaurant on a lively square in the center of Nijmegen. Delicious pizzas and pastas for reasonable prices. Atmosphere is good, staff very friendly. You cannot make a reservation there.

Came here for lunch and thought the Italian bun was about the same size as the one from the supermarket... not so😅 The bun was delicious and the service was good.

The restaurant does not take reservations but we were seated very fast as we chose to seat outside but we saw many people going in as well. The vibe was a bit dirty and craddled but that wasn't the resturant's fault. Food wise, it was not the best pizza, for the same price you can get better around Nijmenge... BUT if you enjoy pizza on a thinner crust side you will like it here. I particularly enjoyed their pesto (on the Pesto pizza) it had a distinct taste! Unfortunately you cannot tailor your own pizza
