The restaurant and McDrive should be open until 1am, but the restaurant was already closed at 11.30pm and when I said I needed to use the toilet, an employee gestured that I should go to the McDrive???
The food is usually fine, but the staff gives an unprofessional impression. Employees walked around in casual clothes and seemed more likely to be relaxing than working. I didn't even know if one person worked there. This doesn't give a professional impression and detracts from the experience. But I think those guys were hired as substitutes through a temp agency.
I had to come back and edit my review after what happened today.
I have a sesame allergy. Everywhere I go, literally every McDonald’s I’ve been to across three continents, I simply tell them and ask for the smaller buns instead. I always clarify that I’m not worried about residue; I just need the regular bun swapped. Every single location has helped me… except this one.
A kind employee initially tried to assist and even checked with another staff member who looked like he was in charge of preparing the orders. He basically shrugged and said, “Yeah, I’m not going to do that. Not possible.” I asked again and explained that this is something McDonald’s has done for me my whole life. His response? “We can’t do that because we’re busy today.”
They were absolutely not busy. I’ve been to this branch many times since I have classes in Leiden, and I’ve seen it at its peak: all seats taken, staff running out of table number stands, the works. Today, two-thirds of the seats were empty. Yet he still lied to my face and then suggested I order a burger without bread and a separate hamburger so I could assemble it myself at my table!
I thanked them anyway and went to Le Smash, where I got a better burger and infinitely better service, they even asked me about my opinion on the burger. Honestly, I know the bar at McDonald’s isn’t exactly sky-high, but I genuinely do like them. This time, though, I couldn’t even get their most iconic, most accessible burger—the Big Mac—because staff refused to help accommodate a very simple allergy request.
Fast service, it wasn't busy. Ordered hamburgers and fries. The hamburgers were fairly warm, the fries were quite cold when they were delivered to the table. I reported this, and they received new ones really quickly! ... but
now with a triple salt portion! Was this intentional or not? I reported this and had them taste it... (I didn't eat these fries either.) He replied: "I'll have them cleaned, fry them while they're cooking!" We just left... such a shame!
The food is always good here, tasty and served quickly. It's also nice that not everything is so expensive, so you can have lunch for a reasonable price!
