Food was delicious, but overpriced and a bit small with the expectation of a tasting menu in mind. I had:
-The roasted fennel, which was a lovely surprise and something I'd love to try again
-The bitterballen, which was nice, and much better than the other vegan bitterballen I found this trip, but didn't leave a strong impression
-The spinach gnocchi, which was delicious, but I think I had about 4 gnocchi total. The gnocchi texture wasn't perfect, but the greens (which were more plentiful) was probably the best I've had and made up for it.
-The white asparagus magnum, which was tasty, but didn't meet my expectation for the price
-(a taste of) The lemon balm brownie, which was exceptional and delicious
There was a secret extra dessert which was very appreciated and had a special ingredient which was exactly the sort of thing I'd hope for in a tasting menu
Overall I'm happy with the experience but would be much happier at closer to 30euro pp than 50, or at 50 could use a little even-ing out. I would go again given some time for the menu to refresh
It's worth mentioning that a vegan tasting menu is a standout thing in and of itself
Thank you to the staff for accommodating on short notice
Delicious freshly fried kibbeling with herb salt. We had two portions of kibbeling with ravigot sauce, but in hindsight, one portion of sauce would have been enough.
For years, I have enjoyed visiting Bakker Dalma at Muiderpoort station in Amsterdam East. I return regularly, especially for their healthy sandwiches; as far as I’m concerned, they are truly the tastiest you can get in the neighborhood. All the other lunch snacks are delicious too, always freshly prepared, and of good quality.
What I also really appreciate is that the shop is always clean and hygienic. That inspires confidence and is an important reason for me to get my lunch here. It is a cozy family business with friendly staff who always welcome you warmly. Everyone is equally helpful and friendly, which makes the experience extra pleasant.
I also find the price-quality ratio to be very good, certainly compared to many other bakeries in Amsterdam. You get high-quality and fresh products for a fair price.
Whenever I am in the neighborhood, I almost always pop in for a sandwich. I prefer to come here at least once a week. Highly recommended for anyone who loves fresh sandwiches and tasty lunch dishes!
It was as cozy as ever.
The owner beautifully renovated the pub during the corona period.
Always fun at Cafe de Biecht.
Unfortunately, after 27 years, Cafe de Biecht has come to an end.
It gave in to the investors to turn it into apartments or something similar.
Experienced a beautiful ending / last evening.
Wishing proprietor Jan Louman good luck and a wonderful time for the remainder of his life. A shame about the end of an era!!
Dont waste your time to come to Jan van Galenstr. 418 as the shop no longer exists.. Owner should take action to prevent people to visit here and see Cans Buns which is the new store at this address..
