Wonderful place, reasonably priced with great service. Would happily return.

We saw it by chance and went in, it was one of the few places open late at night, it was very beautiful

Good food friendly fast service. Sizes of food differs. Fajitas were very jummy and huge portion. Others differs but you ll be filled afterwards either way. Only price is a bit on the more expensive side. But since it is within the centre of Amsterdam... still reasonable.

For two years in a row we have only eaten at Alfonso's when we are in Amsterdam. The man really knows what he's doing, the food is always delicious and fresh and he himself is really a man of hearts.

Tasty and generous portions! I've lived in the US and had many Mexican food, so this wasn't as good as the food I had there. But still a reasonable price and great service.

Hicieron mucho ruido y la mayoría de los demás visitantes tenían miedo de preguntar cortésmente si podían rechazarlo. Pedimos cortésmente, pero los británicos se negaron. Nos fuimos temprano y NUNCA volveremos de nuevo.

Top restaurant! I have rarely eaten such deliciously tender meat as in this restaurant! The Fajitas are highly recommended! You also get lots of vegetables and rice, which is really delicious!

Everything was a bit too expensive, the portion size was good but the beef was not edible with tendons, it's a shame we expected more.

first of all, someone reviewing this restaurant said the portion was small...i, VERY much, disagree...besides it being good...better than i expected...the chicken chimichanga i had was absolutely not 'small'...there is a 'mexican' restaurant in Haarlem, which i will not name...if you want to know what a small portion is...go there... my experience at Alfonso's yesterday was exTREMEly pleasant from the moment i walked in the door and was warmly greeted... after ordering, the food came within a very reasonable amount of time...and i was surprised at all that was included...a very nicely spiced rice, smashed beans, guacamole, sour cream...in other words a full plate of food without having to order any of these as a 'side dish', which many restaurants here would require... the price, i thought, was extremely reasonable...and the atmosphere 'low key'/quiet...which i appreciated...i wouldn't hesitate to go there again... it's located very close to Rembrandtplein on Utrechtsestraat 29... very close to a few tram stops... i definitely recommend this place...

Mi experiencia en Alfonso's ayer fue muy agradable desde el momento en que entré por la puerta y fui cálidamente recibido. . . después de pedir, la comida llegó dentro de una cantidad de tiempo muy razonable . . y me sorprendió todo lo que estaba incluido . . . un arroz muy bien especiado, frijoles aplastados, guacamole, crema agria . . . en otras palabras un plato completo de comida sin tener que pedir ninguno de estos como "guarnición", que muchos restaurantes aquí requerirían . . El precio, me pareció, era extremadamente razonable ... y el ambiente 'baja de tono' / tranquilo ... que me gustó ... no dudaría en ir allí de nuevo ... food was alright. low rating is because of the server’s attitude while we were ordering. my partner, the slimmer of the two of us, ordered food with no comments or problems. when i was ordering, even though i asked for another minute to view the menu, i was told when ordering one main “i think that’s enough” and wouldn’t let me look further at the menu. incredibly embarrassing and not a good experience. i stay near this area every time i visit amsterdam, but i will not be back to alfonsos

I had an amazing meal here, and the staff was very friendly. I ordered the «Fajitas de carne». I got 3 tortillas, probably 250g argentinian steak and many good sides. Probably the best mexican i have had at a resturant! Really recommend going here if you’re in Amsterdam😊

Very tasty Mexican food! We have already eaten here twice before we had to go to a performance in Carré and the Delamar theater. There are so many delicious things on the menu that I couldn't choose and took the combination dish (see photo 😋). A delicious enchilada, small borrito and taco with chicken, highly recommended! You can even indicate that you want 3 different fillings (choice of spicy chicken, seasoned minced meat, tender stewed beef or fresh vegetables). The owner is very nice and hospitable, just like the rest of the staff.

Not as good as expected. Taste is okay but very small portions. Even the cocktails are in small glasses. Many restaurants you can find when it comes to taste like this. The setting and interior can be more cosy. It does not feel as if you are in a Mexican restaurant.

Great spot for Mexican food. Who knew you could have delicious Mexican food in Amsterdam? My husband and I were looking for something different for dinner and came upon this restaurant. After checking my trusty TripAdvisor site we noted the ratings were good so we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. Restaurant is very clean, service friendly and prompt food hot and tasty. We both had fajitas; husband had the beef and I had the chicken. Meats were tender and tasty. The soft tortillas were warm too. You may want to ask them NOT to put the hot peppers in the fried veggies if you do not like things hot. Highly recommend.

We strolled in at half 10 and they still let us seat and have dinner. The food was amazing 👏 the waiter was really friendly and the music was a great vibe even for that late in the evening. If you get the Mexican cravings come check this place out!

The food wasn't really anything special and the prices are overpriced for the portion size. My friend ordered a salad with oil and unfortunately received rancid and inedible oil. At least she received a new salad with better oil after complaining.

I was surprised when I’ve got the dish of so called “Nachos” which have nothing to do with real nachos. It was in a tiny plate with microwaved cheese. After that I tried their tacos which cost (19€!!) for 2 pieces. They have nothing in common with real Mexican tacos and I couldn’t believe that they charge so much for the dish of such a poor quality. Don’t visit it if you don’t want to eat non-Mexican super expensive food.

The highlight here is unquestionably the food, which stands a notch above the ordinary. We started with the Nachos Sonora, which, while bursting with flavor, fell short in portion size, especially as a dish advertised for two. The toppings, too, were on the scantier side, which was a bit of a letdown. Moving on to the main course, the Combinacion Alfonso's was a mixed bag. The taco was average, failing to make much of an impression. However, the enchilada and burrito were a different story altogether – absolutely divine. These dishes alone make the restaurant worth visiting, elevating the overall culinary experience. So, while it doesn't quite hit the five-star mark for me, it's definitely a solid choice for good food. I'll surely be back, and I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for some tasty Mexican cuisine with a few standout dishes.

Very Delicious Mexicon Restaurant Service is great. We had taccos and a traditionellen dish.

Delicious food! Both the main course and dessert were super delicious. The main course, a combination of taco, burrito and enchilade, was delicious. And the dessert, which consisted of 3 different shapes of chocolate, was even surprising for me as a chocolate fan (in terms of content and taste). Both highly recommended. For someone like me who, let's say, is quite selective in her tastes and is not easily impressed by food, it is special that I write a review, but I just had to do this. The staff is also great. They serve with humor and friendliness and are very attentive. The moment my knife fell down, before I could ask for a new one, someone was there with new cutlery. The only area for improvement why I did not give 5 stars 3 times is the cleaning of the tables. It was very sticky and the same applies to the handrail of the stairs (to the toilet). Recommended! I will definitely come here again if I want to eat in Amsterdam!

Great food and service. We got the tacos and a burrito, each came with rice, beans, sour cream, and guacamole. I recommend the spicy chicken burrito! Mexican food around Amsterdam can be unnecessarily expensive but this one is about €18 including the rice and beans and a good serving size, so it's more reasonable comparatively. The staff was nice and attentive too. We'll be back again!

Recently went to Alfonsos for dinner twice during a four day trip to Amsterdam! We live in Brooklyn, NY so we know good Mexican food. We got tacos and quesadilla with rice and beans. This place was really tasty and impressive, especially for being in the Netherlands! Highly recommend if you want something different from sweets, bread, and cheese while visiting Amsterdam.

I'm mexican so I can tell you the food is not authentic. The food is texmex and It's also a little bit pricy for the small portions you get. The food tastes well but if you are looking for authentic mexican food this is not the place.

Excellent fajitas. We ordered the upgraded steak option for 2 persons. It was enough for two parents and 11 yr old to share. Some here are complaining that it's not authentic Mexican. So what? It's a delicious meal. Service was quick and friendly.

Went to Amsterdam for a long weekend and out of all the restaurants we tried this was by far the best! Great atmosphere, good service and the food was amazing!!The prices were reasonable compared to the rest of Amsterdam's restaurants. When we come back to Amsterdam again we are going back here.
