Highly recommend if you need your mexican food fix. This comes from someone from Southern California who vrew up on mexican food.

What a wonderful experience this was. The food was incredibly flavorful and the presentation looked very polished. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the jalapeños gave the dish just the right kick. The dessert certainly did not disappoint either. The crêpe was delicious and the combination with the ice cream completed it perfectly. I will definitely be back here again.

Fantastic! Authentic Mexican food outside of Mexico! The atmosphere was great! Great seating! The music was perfect. We had the nachos for two. The dish could be a little bigger. My son had the fajitas.The portion size the fajitas was banging on. A little pricey. But everything was delicious. Definitely recommend.

Real guacamole is not with dairy!!!!!!!!! I don’t know who is the chef, but he keep putting dairy in guacamole which is not real Mexican food! That’s very sad! When I talked with the staff they don’t feel like caring, but I am alergic to dairy and they were not helpful at all, very sad!

While on vacation in that country, we ate at this place and I can confirm that it's not Mexican food at all, maybe a little Tel Mex. They should have a Mexican chef or do some proper research before trying to call themselves a Mexican restaurant. Sweet beans, bland guacamole with too much water, and cheddar cheese are not ingredients in our cuisine.

My girlfriend and I wandered across this restaurant with no expectations in mind but was truly blown away by the food and service. I had the slow cooked beef taco and it was truly incredible, great portion sizes and very affordable. My girlfriend had the spicy chicken burrito and really enjoyed it also. I would highly recommend coming.

Had an early dinner so the place was not quite full. Food was ok but the value for money is not worth it. Portions are too small for its price. I even overheard the other table saying “20 plus euros for a tacos?” Some of our orders like the chili con carne feels like was just heated in the microwave. The nachos for 2 were served flat like a single layer on nachos in a medium plate ( not even a bowl) Not recommended and will not comeback again. 🫣

Lovely restaurant with a menu where it’s difficult to choose from because all looks so good. I had the burrito and my bf the fajita’s. All very good! Definitely recommend to go here.

Terrible experience. Made reservation and called ahead to inquire about dogs. Was told dogs are allowed. Arrived at restaurant and was told we cannot have a dog. Very rude and unprofessional staff.

I feel bad in writing this but im latina and this is not a mexican restaurant. The food is microwaved for most part, tastes indian (not a problem to be indian food but not when its microwaved and misguided as mexican). Service was “too nice”. Couldnt even bite the food they already came to “check on you asking id you wanted another drink or food. Not mexican, not fresh and definitely not worth the price.

If you are mexicano do not come here, is very expensive too

Alfonso's Mexican & Grill: Where Amsterdam Does Proper Fajitas Booked online – dead easy, none of that "ring us during office hours only" nonsense – and from the moment we walked in, the host was on it. Not in that overbearing "how is everything?" every thirty seconds way, but genuinely attentive. You know, the good kind where you feel looked after without feeling watched. Here's what really got me though: the crowd. Proper locals. Not a tourist trap in sight. All ages too – young couples, groups of mates – everyone just properly relaxed and enjoying themselves. That's always the tell, isn't it? When the locals are there, you know you've stumbled onto something decent. Started with nachos because, well, you have to. And then we all went for fajitas. I opted for the prawn version because if I'm in Amsterdam, I'm not ordering chicken. The prawns were spot on – cooked perfectly, proper seasoning, sizzling away on the plate like they're meant to. The place itself? Everything just felt... right. Comfortable without being scruffy, lively without being chaotic. Now, I probably should have stopped there. I went for the crepe with ice cream for dessert. Out of this world. The kind of dessert that makes you immediately forgive yourself for ordering it in the first place. Will I go back next time I'm in Amsterdam? Absolutely. No question. If you're in Amsterdam and fancy Mexican, skip the obvious places and head to Alfonso's.

The setting really sets the mood. I recommend the vegetable fajitas; however, for the meat fajitas, you'll need to pay an extra €3.50 for fries. Also, the servers are very friendly.

We had the burrito and a mix plate and it was both very good food. The service was fast and friendly. We would be happy to come back and can definitely recommend!

I recently visited this restaurant, and it was such a nice experience. The food was delicious! everything tasted really fresh and well-seasoned. I especially loved the fajitas, they came sizzling hot and full of flavor. The staff were kind and welcoming, and the whole place had a really cozy atmosphere. You can tell they put care into both the food and the service. Definitely one of the best Mexican spots in Amsterdam. I’ll be coming back for sure!

Sorry, but I can make better food at home before paying almost €50 for everything. The quesadillas were way too expensive for what you get, and the cheese was a mess in a few minutes. And the fajita wasn't seasoned enough. Service was okay.

Easy to order menu. Ignore that other goofy review. Staff was fantastic. The food was also great and im pretty picky about food, Mexican food even more so.

The place was OK. Just walked in and there were plenty of seats. The floor staff was warm and friendly. Menu was long and overwhelming. Serving size was more on the smaller side.

My partner and I got very sick from the food we had at the restaurant. Before the restaurant, we had food we normally have and therefore we have no doubts it was caused by their food. My partner could not even sleep. We are not coming back.

Good food friendly fast service. Sizes of food differs. Fajitas were very jummy and huge portion. Others differs but you ll be filled afterwards either way. Only price is a bit on the more expensive side. But since it is within the centre of Amsterdam... still reasonable.

For two years in a row we have only eaten at Alfonso's when we are in Amsterdam. The man really knows what he's doing, the food is always delicious and fresh and he himself is really a man of hearts.

Tasty and generous portions! I've lived in the US and had many Mexican food, so this wasn't as good as the food I had there. But still a reasonable price and great service.

Comida bien, pero lugar muy ruidoso. Estuvimos aquí un viernes por la noche. La comida estaba bien / genial (pero demasiado caro). Desafortunadamente había 3 británicos borrachos cenando también. Hicieron mucho ruido y la mayoría de los demás visitantes tenían miedo de preguntar cortésmente si podían rechazarlo. Pedimos cortésmente, pero los británicos se negaron. Nos fuimos temprano y NUNCA volveremos de nuevo.

En primer lugar, alguien que revisó este restaurante dijo que la porción era pequeña . . yo, MUY en desacuerdo . . además de ser bueno . . mejor de lo que esperaba . . el pollo chimichanga que tenía no era absolutamente "pequeño" . . hay un restaurante "mexicano" en Haarlem, que no voy a nombrar . . si quieres saber lo que es una porción pequeña . . . ir allí . . Mi experiencia en Alfonso's ayer fue muy agradable desde el momento en que entré por la puerta y fui cálidamente recibido. . . después de pedir, la comida llegó dentro de una cantidad de tiempo muy razonable . . y me sorprendió todo lo que estaba incluido . . . un arroz muy bien especiado, frijoles aplastados, guacamole, crema agria . . . en otras palabras un plato completo de comida sin tener que pedir ninguno de estos como "guarnición", que muchos restaurantes aquí requerirían . . El precio, me pareció, era extremadamente razonable ... y el ambiente 'baja de tono' / tranquilo ... que me gustó ... no dudaría en ir allí de nuevo ... Está situado muy cerca de Rembrandtplein en Utrechtsestraat 29 . . . muy cerca de algunas paradas de tranvía . . Sin duda recomiendo este lugar. . .

first of all, someone reviewing this restaurant said the portion was small...i, VERY much, disagree...besides it being good...better than i expected...the chicken chimichanga i had was absolutely not 'small'...there is a 'mexican' restaurant in Haarlem, which i will not name...if you want to know what a small portion is...go there... my experience at Alfonso's yesterday was exTREMEly pleasant from the moment i walked in the door and was warmly greeted... after ordering, the food came within a very reasonable amount of time...and i was surprised at all that was included...a very nicely spiced rice, smashed beans, guacamole, sour cream...in other words a full plate of food without having to order any of these as a 'side dish', which many restaurants here would require... the price, i thought, was extremely reasonable...and the atmosphere 'low key'/quiet...which i appreciated...i wouldn't hesitate to go there again... it's located very close to Rembrandtplein on Utrechtsestraat 29... very close to a few tram stops... i definitely recommend this place...
