Really nice food. Lovely staff and great decor. It felt pretty pricey for the amount of food we had, but it was delicious. Would come back for a special occasion.

Very tasty Mexican food, but pricey! I really liked the tacos (especially the al pastor). Authentic, as far as I could tell. The enchiladas and guacamole were also great. Unfortunately, the place is quite expensive. Even sharing a table, three people with drinks will spend around €120. You can sit "quite comfortably," but it's a rather cramped place with a long bar in the back. The atmosphere, however, is nice. Recommended, but bring a fat wallet 🤑

What a fantastic experience on Kerkstraat. We had a delicious meal and drinks here in an incredibly pleasant atmosphere. The tacos were truly outstanding, especially with that slice of fresh lime for the perfect balance. The cocktails were also highly recommended. The rim of the glass was richly decorated with a spicy salt rim and a slice of jalapeño for a nice kick. It was exactly what we needed for a successful evening in the center of Amsterdam. We will definitely be back here soon.

Terrible service; if you order something, you simply don't get the drink you paid for. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO THERE, PEOPLE, YOU GET RIP-OFF RIGHT BEFORE YOUR STAND! You pay, but you don't get what you are entitled to.

We lived in Amsterdam for five years, and our favorite Mexican restaurant was, and always will be, Los Pilones! Now we live in London and we miss this place terribly. Every time we're here, we make sure to visit. Hector, the owner and now a great friend, is a true connoisseur of tequila and mezcal, and the food and drinks are simply superb. Thanks to the entire kitchen and service team. The best!

Hot hot hot But it was full of flavour

I was a lone traveller. Went in for the shrimp tacos and a quick margarita... it was as good as people say! Like everywhere in amsterdam, its expensive though!

Amazing food, truly. Initially I was taken aback by the expensive prices, but it felt like they use good ingredients because everything was absolutely tasty and such a pleasure to eat.

I go to mamy Mexican restaurants. This is a 5/5. If you're very hungry - don't even think about it, just go here. I got my food in about 10 minutes since I first sat down. The servers are very nice and polite! But the quality of food is what really shines here. I've had a lovely meal of Asada Tacos (I reccomend extra cheese, it's really tasty!).

We were a group of 6 people celebrating a birthday; 99% of us are Mexican. The food is good, but it's excessively expensive, in fact, very expensive I would say. We paid a bill of almost €500 and they were timing us until we had to leave the table (very unpleasant).

I'm Mexican and I cried the first time I visited this place. It's absolutely fantastic! I really needed a piece of home and this place really gave it to me. Sometimes I just go in for a little pan de elote to kill the homesickness a little.

Amazing Food and great selection of Tequila

Unfortunately, it was one of the worst tacos I've ever eaten. Despite that, the prices are high. The staff were very nice, and the atmosphere was pleasant, but the food was really unsatisfying.

Excellent Mexican restaurant. A must-visit if you enjoy authentic Mexican food. Enfeijoladas, flautas, tacos, hibiscus and horchata drinks, mole... It was an expensive dinner, but well worth it.

The food is super delicious. I'm from Mexico and I loved it. We had flautas, enchiladas verdes, and barbacoa tacos. We paid almost 30 euros per dish. Expensive, but it was at least worth it—delicious. The salsas could be spicier. The service... We booked online, and according to them, we only reserved for one hour, which wasn't enough time to eat, and we felt pressured to eat quickly. They say you can reserve a table for a maximum of two hours. Two hours would have been better. If they need that much time to serve the food, perhaps they shouldn't accept one-hour reservations so that it's a pleasant experience. The music was very good. I might return, but be ready for a race to eat the most delicious food.

It's a shame that the Carnitas tacos were so dry. Big tacos, but the pork was sadly dry in the carnitas so it was a little difficult to eat. The flautas were really good though

Absolutely incredible food and awesome atmosphere - I was blown away with this place. The shrimp tacos are some of the best I’ve ever had! The beer on tap was cold and delicious. We sat at the bar which was really vibey. The only reason to give it a 4 rather than a 5 is because of the prices - it was very expensive for what it is.

This place is fire! Delicious food, amazing drinks and a laid back vibe. Definitely going back there soon.

Of the tacos I’ve had in Amsterdam, i think Los Pilones is the best. The corn tortillas are fresh and soft, and they do a good job with fillings. Keep in mind this isn’t Mexico City, it’s Amsterdam, so temper your expectations. They definitely have the best mezcal and tequila selection in town. The only real miss was that they put orange juice (enough that you can taste it a lot) in all their margaritas which is a shame. No marg should have any other juice but lime. We tried to order one with only lime but it couldn’t be done. I’ll be back for the tacos but it will be sipping mezcal for me. Celiac friends - they accommodated my diet easily and items containing gluten were clearly marked on the menus. They were also aware of cross contamination issues with the fryer. I felt fine after eating here.

Delicious food and a great location. The service was also very good. The restaurant is rather small and has a great atmosphere. The dishes all looked fantastic and tasted amazing. The price/performance ratio was on the higher end, but not more expensive than other restaurants in Amsterdam.

The service was good, yes, but the food felt ripped off. It was nothing like real Mexican birria, and the tacos were completely out of place. 😒 I also ate too fast; I shouldn't have. The soda cup was dirty. I told my partner, and out of embarrassment, we didn't leave, but I'm definitely not going back.

We had the BEST time here today, a group of 8 of us all had beyond delicious food and drinks. Especially the enchiladas! It was a stumbled upon spot which was a great find. Highly recommended!

For a long time, this was my favorite Mexican restaurant in Amsterdam. I always recommended it for its authentic flavors, for truly reminding me of Mexico, and for the quality of its food. Today I came back after quite some time, full of excitement… and sadly it was a big disappointment. The food no longer tasted the same, the flavors were not what they used to be, and most of all, it didn’t feel fresh. It makes me sad to write this because I truly love Mexican food, and this place was my go-to reference for years. I sincerely hope this was just a one-time experience and that the restaurant can recover the quality and authenticity that once made it so special

Very bland Mexican food with not much use of spice and vegetables in the dishes we ordered. Not the wauw effect I hoped to experience.

*Overpriced & limited to 1 hour. Mediocre food and poor service* Never again will I go here. After spending €150, the waiter eagerly asked us to leave after 1 hour. Not even 1 minute to spare. Without even a warning when we first sat down. The restaurant is tiny with too many people. I could barely hear my own table. The food is very mediocre, considering how much this place charges for dinner. Rounding up, €5 per taco (mind blowing!). To top it off, good luck getting your waiter’s attention. Only do they come by to check on you if you raise your hand. The only positive comment I can give this place is that I like the interior, though there are a ton of other restaurants is in Amsterdam to choose from.

Still a bit in shock after I went there for the first time yesterday. There is no space, prices are saltier than the margarita and with 1h on the clock they tell you you can't stay anymore. After 50 min, very few items purchased while you hearing your neighborhood chew because of lack of space, we got slapped with a 150€ bill and a request to VACANT the table. Never again

Lovely place- nice ambiance. The cheese fondue as a starter was delicious! Also the beef taco’s! Dessert we shared the brownie and cheesecake. Brownie was divine! Nicely presented. Loved the Margaritas! Would definitely go again!

A Mexican restaurant on the streets of Amsterdam, very quaint and with an intimate atmosphere. The walls feature Mexican-style artwork. The table was a bit too small, with no tablecloth, and ours had high chairs. The dishes were a bit simple for the prices, but overall good. Friendly staff.

As a Mexican, born and raised in Mexico City, I can say the food here tasted like home. The cook, Victor, is amazing and also Mexican. I highly recommend this restaurant. And for my fellow Mexicans (especially those from Mexico City) who come here and want a meal that will remind them of the city, this place is the one!

These google reviews must be fake! tables were so close couple next to us had to move the table for us to get in (2skinny girls). But it's ok I guess.. As soon as we set down within 5 minutes 3 different waiters came to make us order as fast as possible wich made us feel very uncomfortable. Food was very average but super overpriced for what you get. As soon as we finished (1h and 20 min) 2 waiters rushed in to kick us out fast so the other table could sit. So I guess you only have 1h and 20 min between reservations as we arrived on time. Overpriced fast food experience.. This is not worthy of calling a restaurant

Staff were very rude and made us feel uncomfortable when we asked for things. I asked for sour cream and they brought it out when I finished my meal and then charged me €2 for it.

This place is a disgrace. My menus are covered in food debris. The waiter is very rude and incompetent. He practically swept the food leftovers off the table onto me. My score is actually zero, but that's not an option.

I'll preface this by saying I'm from Texas, and I know full well that that experience has spoiled me. I'm not going to find an amazing taco in Amsterdam. I know that. I've accepted that. But charging 26 euros for four tacos with rubbery tortillas that I'm pretty sure are from the Albert Heijn around the corner is criminal. The filling is fine, but when I'm having to fight the tortilla to get to it, that ruins the entire taco. Even if it were good, 6.50 for a taco I can eat in two bites is ludicrously over-priced, even for Amsterdam. Paired with the fact that that the tostadas and guac (with pretty good guac, I'll happily admit) came with three stale tostadas, and I don't understand why this place has such high ratings. I know it's harder to get good Mexican food in Amsterdam, but I think expecting it not to be stale or rubbery is a decent baseline. Not paying absurd prices for the experience would be a plus as well.

The service from all the staff was excellent and the micheladas were delicious, but the food was a bit disappointing. The taco tortillas were served cold (raw), and it's a shame they weren't corn tortillas. Some of the appetizers had fried tortillas, which made them very greasy. I ordered barbacoa tacos, and although the meat was tender (cooked for 18 hours), it didn't have much flavor.

The food with authentic Mexican flavor and the cocktails are a must, not to be missed!

Really like this Mexican place , good vibe and tasty food options. The margaritas are nice here.

Arrived but they were full, the place was buzzing, we were asked if we could wait a little as a table was just paying. The hostess was very organised and we didn’t wait too long. Spicy margaritas were ordered and delivered in good time, we ordered the Queso Fundido to share, there were three of us and it was just enough to keep us going until our mains arrived. I had the Gobernador, which was delicious, the shrimp was plenty and the habanero chilli mayo made good eating. There was a Birria de Res ordered but seemed underwhelming although I was told it was tasty and Enchiladas Verdes looked both interesting and very delicious. Prices are in line with most places across Amsterdam so don’t expect cheap eats but if you want well cooked Mexican food and tasty margaritas along with friendly, efficient service then crack on. You won’t be disappointed. Don’t forget to tip well, they work really hard and deserve the recognition.

It was a Nice Place , the flautas were delicious. The guacamole was nice, but it could be better. Nice atmosphere and the prices were a bit expensive, but the flavor was very close to the original ones from Mexico.

Everyone working there were so nice… the food was amazing and house margarita fantastic! I have missed Mexican cuisine having lived in California for many years… and this was the perfect meal. Highly recommend !

A great place to enjoy Mexican food

What a terrible experience and very disappointed. I have been going to los pilones for years and today was the last time. I ordered tacos al pastor, the tortilla were smelly not fresh at all. The meat was not what it is supposed to be pastor. Instead it was just shredded meat. The horchata was so tasless more water than flavor. I raised my complains to the manager and his respond was more than disappointing. He did not care and instead made me believe that I was the one wrong and no reaction to my comments. Sadly he is Mexican and I am so surprised that he can serve such a terrible food. Shame on you!

Los Pilones is a fantastic spot for authentic Mexican food in Amsterdam. The Asada Tacos were flavorful and perfectly done, and the Lemon Margarita was absolutely wonderful — refreshing and well-balanced. Definitely a place worth trying many times! Highly recommended if you are in Amsterdam and you crave for some authentic Mexican foods.

I was at Los Pilones last night and loved it. The food is authentic and delicious. The mango margarita was spectacular. The service was fast and friendly, and the waitresses were very nice. I will definitely be back!
