Lovely place- nice ambiance. The cheese fondue as a starter was delicious! Also the beef taco’s! Dessert we shared the brownie and cheesecake. Brownie was divine! Nicely presented. Loved the Margaritas! Would definitely go again!

Great tacos. We come here a lot. The last time we went they lost our reservation, which was too bad. But they made room for us at the bar. Food and service made up for it. We will be back

A Mexican restaurant on the streets of Amsterdam, very quaint and with an intimate atmosphere. The walls feature Mexican-style artwork. The table was a bit too small, with no tablecloth, and ours had high chairs. The dishes were a bit simple for the prices, but overall good. Friendly staff.

These google reviews must be fake! tables were so close couple next to us had to move the table for us to get in (2skinny girls). But it's ok I guess.. As soon as we set down within 5 minutes 3 different waiters came to make us order as fast as possible wich made us feel very uncomfortable. Food was very average but super overpriced for what you get. As soon as we finished (1h and 20 min) 2 waiters rushed in to kick us out fast so the other table could sit. So I guess you only have 1h and 20 min between reservations as we arrived on time. Overpriced fast food experience.. This is not worthy of calling a restaurant

As a Mexican, born and raised in Mexico City, I can say the food here tasted like home. The cook, Victor, is amazing and also Mexican. I highly recommend this restaurant. And for my fellow Mexicans (especially those from Mexico City) who come here and want a meal that will remind them of the city, this place is the one!

Staff were very rude and made us feel uncomfortable when we asked for things. I asked for sour cream and they brought it out when I finished my meal and then charged me €2 for it.

This place is a disgrace. My menus are covered in food debris. The waiter is very rude and incompetent. He practically swept the food leftovers off the table onto me. My score is actually zero, but that's not an option.

The service from all the staff was excellent and the micheladas were delicious, but the food was a bit disappointing. The taco tortillas were served cold (raw), and it's a shame they weren't corn tortillas. Some of the appetizers had fried tortillas, which made them very greasy. I ordered barbacoa tacos, and although the meat was tender (cooked for 18 hours), it didn't have much flavor.

I'll preface this by saying I'm from Texas, and I know full well that that experience has spoiled me. I'm not going to find an amazing taco in Amsterdam. I know that. I've accepted that. But charging 26 euros for four tacos with rubbery tortillas that I'm pretty sure are from the Albert Heijn around the corner is criminal. The filling is fine, but when I'm having to fight the tortilla to get to it, that ruins the entire taco. Even if it were good, 6.50 for a taco I can eat in two bites is ludicrously over-priced, even for Amsterdam. Paired with the fact that that the tostadas and guac (with pretty good guac, I'll happily admit) came with three stale tostadas, and I don't understand why this place has such high ratings. I know it's harder to get good Mexican food in Amsterdam, but I think expecting it not to be stale or rubbery is a decent baseline. Not paying absurd prices for the experience would be a plus as well.

For the quality of the food and the type of dishes, the prices are excessive if you are looking for a Mexican place, this is one to avoid.

This was my 15th time at this cozy place. We stopped in for my favorite spicy margarita. The food here is generally delicious, especially during the holidays with their special menu.

Really like this Mexican place , good vibe and tasty food options. The margaritas are nice here.

Arrived but they were full, the place was buzzing, we were asked if we could wait a little as a table was just paying. The hostess was very organised and we didn’t wait too long. Spicy margaritas were ordered and delivered in good time, we ordered the Queso Fundido to share, there were three of us and it was just enough to keep us going until our mains arrived. I had the Gobernador, which was delicious, the shrimp was plenty and the habanero chilli mayo made good eating. There was a Birria de Res ordered but seemed underwhelming although I was told it was tasty and Enchiladas Verdes looked both interesting and very delicious. Prices are in line with most places across Amsterdam so don’t expect cheap eats but if you want well cooked Mexican food and tasty margaritas along with friendly, efficient service then crack on. You won’t be disappointed. Don’t forget to tip well, they work really hard and deserve the recognition.

It was a Nice Place , the flautas were delicious. The guacamole was nice, but it could be better. Nice atmosphere and the prices were a bit expensive, but the flavor was very close to the original ones from Mexico.

Everyone working there were so nice… the food was amazing and house margarita fantastic! I have missed Mexican cuisine having lived in California for many years… and this was the perfect meal. Highly recommend !

A great place to enjoy Mexican food

What a terrible experience and very disappointed. I have been going to los pilones for years and today was the last time. I ordered tacos al pastor, the tortilla were smelly not fresh at all. The meat was not what it is supposed to be pastor. Instead it was just shredded meat. The horchata was so tasless more water than flavor. I raised my complains to the manager and his respond was more than disappointing. He did not care and instead made me believe that I was the one wrong and no reaction to my comments. Sadly he is Mexican and I am so surprised that he can serve such a terrible food. Shame on you!

Los Pilones is a fantastic spot for authentic Mexican food in Amsterdam. The Asada Tacos were flavorful and perfectly done, and the Lemon Margarita was absolutely wonderful — refreshing and well-balanced. Definitely a place worth trying many times! Highly recommended if you are in Amsterdam and you crave for some authentic Mexican foods.

I was at Los Pilones last night and loved it. The food is authentic and delicious. The mango margarita was spectacular. The service was fast and friendly, and the waitresses were very nice. I will definitely be back!

We were skeptical at first when we saw the prices…but the tacos were filled to the brink. In other restaurants you‘d have to order twice to get that much. Great taste, all homemade - amazing Margherita aswell. Oh and it‘s cozy and stylish too, all the staff in a good mood at work. Well recommended for a fun night out.

Amazing mexican food, best I've had in Amsterdam.

Never had such bad tacos! Saltless and completely flavorless. The only flavor was that of spicy herbs, very overpowering. There were three of us, and none of us finished our plates! We ordered a pitcher of margaritas for €49, which was glass and broken at the spout! I reported this, but no action was taken!

This place became my favorite Restaurant in the World. The Service is very kind and generous. I enjoyed the starters on the house. Then I had a Mezcalita and a Tequila (El Amo) While Bar Chef Hector introduced me to Tequilas! I never been treated so friendly and I will never forget his special hospitality. I went there alone but felt welcomed, like I would welcome friends and guests. The tacos are crazy delicious and the Barbacoa is very well made. Hard to beat this down to earth and high class treatment. Really makes me thinking about visiting Mexico.

The athmosphere and service were good, unfortunately the tacos was a bit of an disappointment and lacked taste and textures and was overpriced . We expected more.

Tacos were tasteless and overpriced. The flavors had been lost somewhere along the way: freezer-microwave-customer. Even the "sauces" that came with them didn't bring the tacos to life. The bulk sauces followed the same tasteless pattern. In addition, the tortillas had been heated too much in the microwave. They were blazing hot, moist (boiling hot), and that's why they also crumbled in your hands. The maker, nor the owner, obviously has no expertise.

I had dinner and drinks with a few friends at Los Pilones and it was amazing! The food is authentic Mexican, made and served by experts of the Mexican cuisine. It all was super fresh and tasted great! The people who work there are very friendly and professional. Thanks so much for giving us a great night! I will definately come back!!

The place is a good experience, especially the service of the waitresses. We were served by Stacy, and it was an excellent experience thanks to her kindness and service. However, the prices are expensive for the food, as four small tacos cost 25 euros.

Every time I visit Amsterdam this is an obligatory stop as a Mexican living abroad. The food is quite tasty and true to the Mexican cuisine. The service is also good. The waitress and waiters are smiley and inviting. The music selection is good and the place is cozy. The prices are a bit high but still doable.

Honestly the food and vibe were so good I forgot to take pictures. The enchiladas were 10/10, the best mexican you can get in Amsterdam. The waiters all speak spanish and make you really feel the authentic vibe. Must go.

This place is a gem. Fantastic service and charming atmosphere. Some of the best al Pastor tacos I’ve ever had, an excellent margarita with a touch of heat (if you ask), all served with a lovely smile. Highly recommend.

I mean this in the best way possible: As an American, I can’t believe some of the best tacos I’ve ever had were in the Netherlands. I got barbacoa tacos, and they were so incredibly good. Highly recommend.

Great Mexican vibe! We really enjoyed the tacos—especially loved all of them except the mushroom one. As a nice touch, we were served some complimentary nachos when we arrived. The service was smooth and friendly. Definitely recommended!

Stellar. Really excellent. Great area. Many different kinds of taco. I had the al pastor, I had the taquitos with barbacoa. They've got Estrella on tap. The margaritas are the size of TGIFridays not the hipster joints and they also do pitchers. Nice patio space outside! Four 2-tops, so if you plan you could even sit outside with a group. I live in Germany so I miss this food and let's say that "chipotle" isn't going to cut it. It's like spending an hour in Mexico city. Dont worry about the price. Yeah it's expensive but the ingredients are right, you're in Amsterdam and the cuisine is not easy to get in Europe. I've got no complaints except I can't eat more right now. Luckily I'm here for a couple more weeks, so I'll be back

My mother went here before and said many things about this place. Had to see it for myself and it was BEYOND any expectations. I'm a bartender and regularly make margaritas... Los Pilones' margarita is a level I cannot even describe. A drink so simple made so well. And then the food... every bite was "no way... how?!" An absolute experience

We ordered a portion of Birria to share between 2, a little small (four corn tortillas), but very good seasoning. Additionally, two house micheladas that were phenomenal. The total was around 50 euros, honestly a little expensive, but very good service and delicious cuisine.

Nice vibes, cool interior, polite staff and really good cocktails. Especially the spicy margarita was great value for money! However, the food is very average… we got two types of tacos and both of them were very dry… not particularly worth the 25 EUR per dish.

They have great tortillas, so go for the tacos 😊 Also, great selection of tequilas and mezcal. Always a great alternative for when we’re feeling homesick… 🇲🇽

i was there last thursday, before a concert at the Melkweg...i had a reservation but arrived earlier, just after opening and there was no problem...i had the green chicken enchiladas and it was EXcellent...i've had pretty good mexican food in Phoenix, Arizona and Los Angeles and these were their equal, easily...i was a bit surprised that there were no sides, like rice &/or beans...but there were 3 enchiladas and my appetite was sated...and, again, they were VERY good...the price was reasonable...especially considering they're not far from Leidseplein...i would definitely recommend this place if the menu appeals to you. it's not my first time there and i'm hoping it won't be my last...

Had dinner there in the evening and what can I say?! It was adorable! We received a very warm welcome and were given tortilla chips and dips at our table before we could even order anything. The margaritas were excellently mixed and the food was absolutely outstanding! The restaurant is small, but super charming and comfortably furnished. Definitely worth a visit when in Amsterdam!!

Really awkward and not accommodating waiters. We were a party of 5, and when we asked if this was possible to serve 5 tacos for an extra charge instead of 4 per portion, the waitress didn’t even try to offer a solution. Instead her argument was that the tacos are precisely made as a portion of 4, and an extra one per portion wouldn’t be available. When we asked to consult a chef or a manager about this (because it actually doesn’t make much sense and I’m still convinced there are extra tortillas laying around the kitchen), she continued to be dismissive. And when the time for the next reservation started to approach, she was very on top of us, which didn’t feel smooth at all. Like, we are not 3 years old, we understood that there were other people coming. Tortillas in here are unfortunately wheat, their quesadilla was weird, but enchiladas verde and the corn cake were great! Overall, a decent place, with very inconsistent food in terms of authenticity, and unwelcoming staff. I would return for enchiladas and spicy margaritas, but not until their service improves.

My wife and I visited while the restaurant was quiet and ordered four tacos each. She had the mushroom tacos which had an off-putting smell and I had the carnitas which were very good. During our meal my partner started to choke on her food and so began to drink from her water bottle as our ordered drinks had been finished, the waitress marched over seeing this and threatened to throw us out for the outside drink while my wife still struggled to swallow.

We visit a Mexican restaurant in every city we go to and this was by far our favourite from Boston to Budapest! A small menu of classic and tasty food. Quality ingredients and lovely atmosphere even when quiet!

Had dinner with my boyfriend and parents a few weeks ago, unfortunately we were very disappointed. Los Pilones also used to have a restaurant in the Jordaan and it was really my favorite. Delicious soft tacos that you could fill yourself with slow-cooked beef and black bean puree. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is no longer the same

TASTELESS FOOD We went to the place based on the photos and reviews on Google, we arrived and there was no table inside, we sat outside but they didn't put any heat radiators on either, nothing would freeze and that's it. We ordered some barbecue starters that I don't remember the name of the dish, inedible sauce and the filling of meat without onion without even salt, we ordered some tacos after the main dish to share the same without anything, they put a small plate with a strange sauce and a chopped onion, and that's just the tortilla without making it, the meat without even a little salt or condiments or something that takes away the tasteless taste that the food had, horrible €45 for that in our life we ​​had eaten something like that, that does not represent Mexican food, I do not recommend it at all, and I have not taken a photo of everything I am saying why we left there in 10 minutes.

Great Mexican place! Tacos were delicious, made with fresh masa tortillas. The guacamole with chicharron loved it too. Loved the enchiladas too. Even more than my favorite tacos Cozy, yet vibrant atmosphere, and an easy location to get to. Will be back!

I'm from Arizona but live in Ireland. I haven't found a Mexican restaurant that understands the Mexican roots yet. The culture and proper flavours. So glad I found this place!! Flavours were incredible but of course mild for the European palet , never the less top notch!! So good Compliments to the chefs and to the insane tequila reserve

Very delicious food! Authentic, cozy and tasty would be the best way to describe this place. The birria tacos were definitely the highlight of the evening. We also tried the corn cake, which I’ve never had before, as well as all the lemonades available! Such a gem in Amsterdam.

Nice place with Mexican cuisine. I don’t like spicy food and it was possible to remove spices what I really appreciate. Everything what I tried was very good! The stuff was very friendly.

Main course was rubbish: an enchilada drowning in a characterless mole sauce. The maragarita was served in some kind of lemonade glass and, even worse, tasted like lemonade. Not a single pit! Staff was okay.

Was on our doorstep on Tuesday but they were closed while Google says they are open.
