Excellent Thai takeaway from an unassuming little place in Oost! The food here is really a step above most places in Amsterdam everything is packed with flavor. Really good green curry, usually one meal is enough for 2 servings. Friendly staff as well. Love it!

They downsized the restaurant, so only take out is available. However, they still allow our little family (with 20 month toddler) to eat there. We ordered 1 Pad Thai, 1 noodle (item 21 on menu), 1 fish cake and 1 drink. Love the #21 noodle a lot, very authentic hometown taste!

Incredibly delicious and authentic Thai food! the pad woon sen was fantastic, and som tum was the perfect blend of spicy, tangy, and sweet. it tasted just like the food I remember from bangkok. there is a counter to eat in-store too. will definitely be back.

Great quality Thai food. We have ordered takeaway a few times now and the quality is consistently superb with generous portions for not a lot of money. Staff is very friendly and meals are prepped fast.

Absolutely the most authentic Thai in Amsterdam! The pad Thai, fish cakes, tom kha gai and red curry beef were absolutely perfect with all the freshest ingredients and authentic Thai flavors, plus the satay chicken and peanut sauce was just spectacular. Staff were all super friendly, it was just like being back in Thailand :). You can also drop in and dine in as there are a few barstools to sit at and eat. Delivery is also very fast and friendly too, Thank you Amara May we’ll be back!

I had an amazing meal at this Thai restaurant! The spicy stir-fried noodles were absolutely delicious Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to for authentic and satisfying Thai food!

WAY and WAY too expensive (at least IMO too high a price), in my opinion, so I'm going to get food somewhere else! They are taking the piss ( or they have to pay too much rent 🤷‍♂️

Cycled past by chance and decided to try out this restaurant. Freshly baked, plenty of vegetables and very tasty, a bit spicy, but not too spicy for us. Delicious food, we will definitely come here more often.

So tasty, flavorful, and fresh. Generous portions and all for a really fair price too. Prompt service as well. We ordered for takeaway; Tom Kha Gai, Tom Yum Gai, Pad Thai x2 with Shrimp and Chicken. The soups tasted authentic and had very complex and balanced flavors as Thai food must be. They remind me of my mom’s homecooking, she’s from from Central Thailand. Our new favorite takeaway spot. The photos online of the food don’t do it justice really.

The old owner of the Transvaalstraat has taken it over again and changed the name to Happy Thai. pad thai just as tasty as it was back then, large portions. Pad Thai and the ceshew nuts are highly recommended

Just opened on the atjehstraat square, we have missed a good Thai in the neighbourhood, cashew tofu with fried rice was very yum!! Staff friendly and very quick!

Didn't you used to be on the Transvaalstraat? I often got food there, it was great. Now ordered Tom kha soup and unfortunately flushed it down the toilet. Way too much coconut milk and no lemongrass, really not edible. Very unfortunate.

Arrived here as a tourist looking for food, the card reader was broken and I didn't have cash on me, so the cashier just let me take the food for free. Very kind people

I have been ordering from Amara May for a while now and am content with the quality. As a lover of Thai food and halal food, I was pleased to find a place that caters to both. My favourite is their Pad Thai and the Green curry.

Ordered Pad Thai with Tempeh and Pad Phed with Tofu. Lots of vegeterian options! Rice was okay but the rest was absolutely delicious!! big portions and very flavorful. Will order again :)

Got the basil chicken and the cashew chicken. Delivery came fairly quickly and food was warm. However, they don't use Jasmin rice, instead they use some generic cheap long grain rice (not even basmati) that also was a bit overcooked. The dishes themselves were decent flavor-wise, though the basil chicken was only a little spicy while I found the cashew chicken to be noticeably spicier. This despite that the cashew chicken was rated as 1 chilis and the basil chicken rated as 3 chilis. Overall I'd say they were much better at their old location. Now they're below average Thai food quality in Amsterdam. If they fix the rice and the spiciness levels I'd give them a 4.

Rice was not sticky and seem not to be Jasmin, strange for a Thai place to use basmati. The fish cake and spring rolls were ok, and massaman and green curry were good with lots of taste.

Mijn vriend en ik bestellen hier elke maand omdat we dichtbij wonen. Ik hou van de pad thai en mijn vriend bestelt altijd nummer 19. De tom yum soup is ook perfect voor het koude weer. De eigenaar is erg aardig! ! Het eten is ook super lekker!

Het was weer lekker! Dit keer de Pad phed met kip, een smaakvol gerecht met rode currypasta met kouseband en bamboe. En ook super dat er voor een schappelijke prijs witte rijst kan worden bijbesteld. Bedankt en graag tot de volgende keer!

In 2019 eten besteld. Intense smaken, mooie curries. Iets te zout misschien, en te zoet. Maar in het einde een stevig nieuw thais restaurant in de buurt. Weer besteld in Maart 2021: een gerecht was zo zout het was bijna oneetbaar. Kom op, jullie kunnen beter ;-)

Ik heb al een paar keer besteld en het eten was geweldig. Vandaag had ik besteld via hun site, maar het eten is niet aangekomen. Dus fietste ik even langs, niemand te zien, gesloten, maar zelfs de deur zegt nog dat ze open zijn :p . De telefoon ging binnen de hele tijd af, dus ik ben vast niet de enige. Edit: Amara May is op dit moment gesloten wegens ziekte onder de werknemers, zie de reactie. Beterschap allemaal! Het geld zie ik vanzelf wel terug.

My order number: 18106KVF. Non-fresh ingredients. We ordered 2 portions of fish cakes and received 9 pieces?!? (Not 8 or 10, but 9, for 2 portions). The fish cake was rather full of flour instead of fish and was very sweet. Our red curry duck in pineapple shared the same story and have way less duck (8 pieces) for price of €17. The duck tasted like it just came out from the freezer, lost its meat texture and tasted very powdery. The pineapple is not blended at all in the red curry, so there's no sour taste in the curry itself. Sugar taste in the curry was way over the top. THe only thing they got right was probably the plain white rice.

Just had my first order. It was DELICIOUS! Papaya salad... was sooo good! Fried rice was a great surprise! Usually those are pretty bland. But this one was full of vegetables and truly fried. Best Thai food I had in Amsterdam! Thank you! and keep it up!
