I've eaten Indian food before, but this is truly excellent. Delicious food, with plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. And the prices are reasonable, especially for a city like Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

The level of service has drastically declined. It was difficult to get attention from the staff and get the order placed. I requested for tissue and cutlery, I requested to pack the remaining food I could not finish. Waited 20min and nothing happened. I ended up paying and leaving without even asking again. The service used to be better in the past as I remember. Looks like the staffing have been changed. It is a shame for the Anjapar to have such a low level of service.

I ate Ambur Chicken Briyani and really enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly. I would recommend it.

Amazing place. Super friendly staff. I enjoyed their parotta, biriyani and chicken 65. They didn't have Falooda unfortunately. Very close to the tram station. Chicken 65 was very tasty.

Have always loved eating the mutton biriyani here, but the last two visits have been nothing short of a disappointment. Ordered the vegetable biriyani today which was tasty, BUT Loaded with loads of butter. The masala Dosa had very little masala and the dosa batter was super heavy for some reason. My friend and I felt that it was rather heavy for a dosa than being fresh and light. 10 hours later, I still feel the butter reflux. I hope you guys monitor the amount of unnecessary oils or butter which is being added. Thank you.

Wow, what an unexpected surprise! We had an afternoon timed entry in the Rijksmuseum, so wanted to duck into somewhere close by. Chose Anjappar on a whim and it was awesome! We went with the quick lunch Biryani special, along with naan, parotta, and palak paneer. The biryani was complex, perfect amount of spice (slow burn, with a dramatic crescendo!), and meat oh so tender. The special came with chicken masala which was the most interest masala we’ve had in quite some time. We’re not in Amsterdam much, but when we return we will make another to Anjappar!

It was great to try some South Indian flavours in the Netherlands. The food, atmosphere, and service were amazing. I tried the Chicken meals, which is a must try. A great spot for anyone craving real Indian food in the Netherlands.

It’s a very nice Indian restaurant, though the waiter accidentally spilled red wine on us, which was shameful, but truly apologies for it and all and all the meal was nice.

We both ordered the butter chicken. It was pretty good! The mango lassi was delicious.

Amazing paneer as a starter and great dosas for the main! Service was great with very sweet waitresses and very little wait time. We had a great time eating lunch there and would 100% return for the authentic Indian food!

Dosas here are super tasty, one of the best spots for South Indian food! The staff coordination could be better; we had a reservation but still had to wait.

What a fantastic experience! The Biryani was absolutely delicious — fragrant, perfectly spiced, and full of authentic flavors. The Rasam Soup was warm, tangy, and comforting, just like homemade. On top of that, the staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and kind, which made the meal even more special. Easily one of the best spots in Amsterdam for authentic Indian food. Food was good. Service was okay. They wanted to sit me in a sperate section than other people and it made me feel awkward. Another lady came and said, "Absolutely not, you must sit me in a regular table please, I'm so sorry." I heard here point that they sit foreign people in that section. I was alon in a small table and there was an Asian girl by herself sitting in a single table as well. I don't know if that was true or not. I would hope not. I got served a soup with no spoon and had to ask 2 times for a spoon. The bread I ordered, I was asking if they can bring me butter on the side, they told me no I t had to be one or the other because they have a bread with cheese and some herbs, so i wanted that bread and asked if they could bring me butter on the side, even though I was okay if the charged me extra, they said no, they could not do that, the bread never came with my food, I ate my whole meal and the bread was brought at the end after I ate, while i was paying at the register.

I liked it because they were typical dishes from southern India, but I must point out that they were all spicy (even those without a chili pepper label), but I think that's a matter of foreign palates and that Indians are already used to having chili peppers, however they should have a more realistic label. The place is small and unfortunately the bathrooms are not very clean. I recommend making reservations before going. It's worth the experience.

We were told the food was great, but we found everything overly seasoned. The staff didn't speak Dutch, and the English wasn't great either. The seating wasn't very comfortable either.

Lovely authentic food with helpful staff who are happy to help with menu and recommendations. It was so good, went twice whilst on a 3 night stay. Recommend asking for kadai paneer (off menu) and try the paratha.

I’ll give it a 4 because my experience was a 3 and my wife’s was a 5. I got the fried chicken noodles - which tbh is probably my own fault for not getting an Indian dish at an Indian restaurant. My wife got the mutton platter and was very happy with it. It was reasonably priced.

Delicious flavors. We tried dishes we hadn't seen on the menu at any other Indian restaurant. Very helpful staff (mostly English-speaking!). The decor is a bit sparse, but that's not the point!

While on our vacation in Amsterdam,we tried Anjappar and our experience was pretty good. We ordered a veg and non veg thali, food was amazing and service was outstanding, thanks to Mohammad for his outstanding hospitality

Very disappointing experience. We walked into Anjappar seeing the “OPEN” sign clearly displayed. Even the staff saw us enter and take a seat — no one stopped us. After sitting down and waiting, someone finally came over only to tell us the restaurant was actually closed. No apology, no clarity. Extremely unprofessional and misleading. Not what you’d expect from a reputed place like this.

The food was awful. Ordered a Special Anjpaar Chicken Masala. The description says “boneless tender pieces of chicken marinated in chefs handmade masala’s, cashew and roasted to taste” The meal was served to me 2 to 3 minutes after ordering. Very quick. But what I got was shards of chicken not pieces. Like someone did a very bad job of mincing chicken. It definitely cannot be described as pieces of chicken. There was no taste of cashews. It tatsed awful. Plus they do not serve basmati rice with the entree, which is universal practice amongst Indian restaurants. But you can order it as a side. Overall a very avoidable experience.

Food was amazing. We were a group of 6. We had ordered seraga samba mutton biryani, mutton cooking was so tender. Chicken Butter masala and veg biryani was good as well.

They treat delivery people very poorly. Disrespectful people. Making delivery people leave their chairs so a staff member can sit on them, even though there are plenty of chairs.

Good place to come for dosa and nannari sherbat, have a good variety of food and snacks. Also order from here frequently- portions are very generous, we always share for 2 people. Solid service,good looking place. Try to book in advance

The menu has changed since the last 1 yr. Took my family to try idiyappam, but they no longer serve it, which is a disappointment. Food cooked in traditional south indian style with all spices & curries made authentically. Please ask the restaurant to make it less spicy if one can't handle indian level spiciness. Idlis cooked in ghee & their traditional masala is a must try. Mysore masala dosa, chicken biryani & fish items are all fresh and taste delicious. Reservation criteria is a bit off the mark, but staff is friendly and polite. Sometimes, one needs to reach the restaurant early to grab a seat. It's a must try restaurant for all ethnicities.

Food was totally not good and fresh.! They brought food and forgot to serve the plates. Sambar was not even warm. Nothing was ok. Never visiting them again. Wasted €70

Best ever South Indian restaurant in Europe. Even though I live in Berlin, I never missed to go to this one whenever I’m in Amsterdam as the one in Berlin is below par. I don’t know the reason for the difference but this one is far more authentic than the ones in Berlin and Frankfurt. 5/5

I have been to other anjappars and this has by far been the worse one I’ve been to. They couldn’t even give us water we asked three times and still after the third time they gave us two glasses to a table of 5 because they “ran out of glasses”. The service is unacceptable how can you serve food without water? This is ridiculous. I am upset the food was mediocre and service could be better.

Authentic south-indian food served professionally here. Ghee podi masaladosa and idly along with three chutneys and sambar are so delicious. I also enjoyed the thairu vada. Filter coffee that I had was just average. In general, nice restaurant to enjoy tamil-style south-indian cuisine.

I think it's a good sign when a lot of Indian people come to eat in an Indian restaurant and that was the case here.

Took lot of time to prepare food and was not tasty. Service was quite bad with late and missing orders. Took them 10 minutes to bring cutlery after bringing food.

Wholesome experience there is a variety of selection to choose from based on the cravings also with option to select spicy level based on your taste buds. I could have opted slightly higher spicy level which one of the other reasons I would visit again apart from trying various others dishes there. All in all must visit place to get authentic Indian food for both vegetarian and non vegetarian individuals.

I had tried the fish in banana leaf sometime ago and it was amazing. Unfortunately its a rarity. The other items are also good. The catering service is also very nice for group parties and picnic.

Great restaurant. Tasty dishes. Service was friendly and helpful. Prices are still normal here. Especially when you consider that it is in the south, near the concert hall and museum square.

I tried hot n sour soup, kothu parotta and egg biryani. Soup was tasty, parotta was good and biryani average. Ambience is good and service is fast.

We skipped lunch while shopping and we travelled from Smyth toy store. I traveled 30 min just to get plastic on my daughter's drink. We complained on this and no one responded it's worse. If it's Dutch and English will U leave like this. I prefer this is the worst customer service
