Yesterday, I had lunch with my daughter at A&M. The order took a very long time, over half an hour. After inquiring, it turned out they'd forgotten it. She apologized, and said she'd look into it. The drinks were supposed to be free. We waited another half hour. When lunch was served, the plate was practically thrown in my lap. The joy of having lunch together was already gone. I quickly devoured the food. I asked for the bill. The coffee was charged anyway, with the argument that it had arrived on time... Of course, I didn't pay, and I left feeling awful.

Food was delicious, staff extremely nice and friendly. Nice vibe in there. Kids play area also for toddlers. Mediterranean bowl and functional cacao was gorgeous.

The food was very tasty. We had the lunch menu for two. We particularly enjoyed the tomato soup. The service was friendly, but they would have liked to come back to our table to take another order.

Lunch was fantastic: Italian club food and focaccia with chicken piri piri were truly delicious. The coffee was nice and strong and had no aftertaste. The service was very friendly and sociable. Great place!! Something for everyone...

Waited 50 minutes for a focaccia sandwich. The staff was sick but if I had been told how long it was gonna take, I wouldn’t have wasted my lunch break there. Otherwise place is nice but that’s a no go for me.

Waited an hour on food and never received. We went to pay for drinks to leave and asked if the food would take much longer, they said it would take too long. Wasted an hour of time for average coffee. Excuse was that there was a new staff member, but there were 3 I could see just standing there doing nothing. Terrible experience, highly do not recommend. Management needs some training on how to run a business. Massively pathetic

Ordered the set breakfast for two, plus a salmon and egg "dream" croissant. Generous portions. Perfect way to start the weekend. Lovely welcoming service and with ample seating indoors and outdoors.

Friendly staff, great service, and delicious coffee! It's a lovely, spacious location, yet it still feels very homey. There's also a lovely patio; I'll definitely be sitting there next time.

Decent brunch but the service was lacking. I was given my meal without cutlery and had to make my way to the bar to ask for some. Then up again for salt and pepper. And then there were the adults with young kids who let them roam around the place loudly and climb/jump as they wished. This location is good for families with kids and for groups. But if you’re two people looking for a nice brunch, I’d suggest going elsewhere in the area.

Food not good at all, but nice coffee + good service.

One of the best sandwiches I've had. I had the Club Italiano with extra ham. The addition of an olive spread made for great flavor. Nice job, Anne&Max!

The service and atmosphere were decent. I’d give them a 4 out of 5. However, the quality and portion size of the food were extremely disappointing and definitely not worth the price. It feels like a rip-off. I paid €13 for a tiny portion and two huge pieces of bread. I came in hungry and left just as hungry.

Went here for breakfast recently. The food was fine, portion was a bit smaller than I had expected. The food took a bit long to come, but it was also very busy. Otherwise fine.

Very happy with the service and the vegan options. The staff was very friendly preparing a half vegan and half normal high tea. Plus.. the unlimited iced tea! ✨

The drinks were good (fresh orange juice, iced coffees and tea) and the pastries (the pistachio and the lemon croissant) were fluffy, but the flavors weren't so good. However, the scrambled eggs were quite bad - dry, tasteless and cold :( Very disappointing, especially considering the price of almost 50€ for two people

Had a lovely lunch last Saturday in the first spring sun! Pleasant attentive service. Delicious coffee also with Choco cake. Ordered a great sandwich and salad. Beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyed! Great location with large south-facing terrace!

Relaxed coffee shop, they have been closed for a while and have just reopened with a new crew. It is very spacious inside and there is a large terrace in the sun. Chill place with your laptop or with kids. Good coffee, extensive menu and the chocolate cake was heaven!

It was raining and I with my friend had been freezing to get inside a venue and thought to go to the closest place for breakfast. Not only the food is good, you are welcomed with warmth and a smile. Keep it up

I think if someone rates the place 1-2 stars based on one visit needs to give more chances to see if the experience could be different. Unfortunately Anne and Max lacks any kind of management or quality of products/ service. Have visited the place multiple of times - coffee/ breakfast. Today they run out of oat milk… was waiting for açaí bowl for 40 min that came in with some grapes and frozen mango. Previously, the kitchen was closed because „someone called in sick”. Couple of weeks ago the doors were just closed. No information on google. They just decided to close and not inform anyone. The day after they informed they did not have staff to work that day. Another day- kitchen closed. One lady running entire cafe alone. Where is the management? Team leader? They have so many other locations, they could just get someone to help out and get oat milk on the way? I’m now every time coming in for coffee or food afraid if they will again give excuse - no staff, no coffee today 🙀 Location has a great potential.. and it’s completely unused. I hope owner will read this comment. They seem to respond only to the positive ones and ignore the ones with actually constructive feedback…

Hahaha, that was a disaster today.. I ordered a latte with oat milk. It took 30 minutes for the coffee to arrive (no joke, I checked it). When it arrived, it had regular milk. I went inside to get a new one. “I’ll bring it right away” she said. After another 15 min of waiting, I went in again and the new girl behind the counter had no clue.. 😂 she made it right away, so after little less then an hour I had my coffee. They were sweet and kept apologising, but still: don’t go there if you are in a hurry or desperately need a caffeine fix.

It could be a nice place, but the service… One of the dishes we have ordered was a tomato soup that has to come with focaccia and pesto. Instead the waitress brought some mini white soup with bread and salad. I told her that I have ordered tomato soup, she said oh sorry I will bring it instead and only took the white mini-soup away. I have asked about the salad and bread and said that it’s not a part of the dish, she said not to worry and that she will be bring the correct food. I gave the salad to my husband as it was with couscous which I don’t like and gave the bread to my kid, because I thought the correct order will come and this could stay anyway not to be thrown away or something. After a long looooong wait another waiter comes with a mini tomato soup, not a normal big bowl. Of course no focaccia and pesto. At this point our kids were so exhausted that one fell asleep on the couch. We really needed to leave, so I ate the tiny soup and thought whatever, as long as the price remains the one for tomato soup and not the other dish that came by mistake of the waitress (which was 2 euro more). Of course they wanted to charge us 10 euro instead of 8, I asked for at least the correct price for what I have ordered - the waitress removed the soup completely. I thought to myself “oh, at least it’s nice they try to compensate for the mistake and the wait”, but when I left the cafe with one of the kids ahead of my husband, the waitress caught him and said “oh now you actually leave without paying for that dish at all and you ate it” and demanded to have 8 euro paid. Such a ridiculous situation and a terrible experience…

Love this place. I came here almost every day, past summer, just to get my iced latte. The staff is super nice and start making my coffee, the moment I walked in. Never in my life felt so welcome in a cafe or restaurant!

Typical coffee place where people are working behind their laptop and having a latte machiato.. nothing more, nothing less.

Cool and stylish location for breakfast and lunch. Service and food great. We had the Max Breakfast, which was rich and delicious. An absolute recommendation for on the outskirts of Amsterdam.

If you think it can't get any worse, go to Anne & Max Houthavens. We made a reservation well in time for a group of 8. More than 20 minutes after placing our order, the waiter told us that the order could not go through because several of the drinks that had been ordered had already run out. We were then given an unchilled bottle of prosecco. After 1.5 hours, three rounds of drinks later, the waiter came to tell us that our lunch could not be served because they had run out of products. Management did its best to close the gaps, but there was a complete lack of leadership and experience. Pity the wait staff who had to keep walking to the tables with their tails between their legs to deliver bad news.

I was served by an older man who spoke to me super arrogantly, I sat down waiting for the food to be ready and he made me stand up and told me not to sit down. I told him I just wanted to charge my cell phone because it helps me see where I need to go to deliver orders, and he just made me waste my time standing around. People appreciate a place as much for its food as for its service. In this case the staff was very dismissive towards me, the lady was very nice but the gentleman needs to learn to work for the public and respect employees like me who work so that his food reaches more people. Before having breakfast or lunch here, you can go to restaurants such as Sotto, La Brasa, or have breakfast at Toastable, all these establishments that have a spectacular treatment with the delivery people and are always very kind to us and even invite us to have a drink drink some juice or some soup in which they prepare the order, people with humanity who know that we stand on the streets for 8 hours with rain and bad weather so that their food reaches the people

Location with nice light through the many large windows. Plants here and there in the interior. In short, a nice place for a coffee or tea

Table of three. First page on the breakfast menu has a bubble on the side that advertises a pitcher of mimosa at a discounted price compared to single glasses. When ordered our server informed us that all the pitchers are broken. I asked if we can get a similar price for the three mimosas because of that and the answer was no. We ordered them anyway with a scone, an iced latte and a cappucino. The iced latte had fine crushed ice but not finely enough to be consumed. Three fourths of the glass remained with ice as it did not fit through the straw. Never had an iced latte like this before. When we checked out I voiced these two things to the cashier and our server interjected defensively as if I was making a personal attack. She said that the pitchers have been broken for months as if nothing could be done about it. I expressed our experience could've easily been improved, and did not make anything personal. Did not receive even an apology, just animosity from the employees. Management seems to be unaware.

If your kitchen is closed one hour before the closing time as per your announced timings as per profile on google MAKE SURE PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT, not like you plan your day, check the menu and then come to the caffe and find out it does not service good bender it closes at 4 pm not at 5 pm as it is mentioned. Also the lady was rude and not respectful to answer these questions and again transferring the responsibility to smb else like she did not work there. Total disrespect to the customers and its time.

The food is quite good. Unfortunately they take forever to serve the food. Ambiance and area is nice

A good place for breakfast before work. It's quiet and peaceful in the morning. Good service.

Pretty much the only restaurant within 1km. Great interior and nice staff. Had acai bowl for €10.5. Had fewer toppings compared to one in the more expensive part of the city. But the acai itself constituted only maybe 150mL of volume and looks like it was blended with oatmeal and texture was not like pure acai. Plus it was not really cold. I think it was a way to cut costs but honestly I would've paid 12.5 to sit in this place and enjoy a bigger and more thoughtfully constructed acai bowl.

We used to come to this café very often and the atmosphere is quite relaxed and nice. But in the past few months they must have reduced the staff so now the wait for a sandwich is unreasonably long. And what's more annoying is that they don't tell you the wait is long until you've placed your order and waited a while already. Once I went to enquire about my order and they told me that actually they had to cancel it because it was too busy! Why didn't you tell me when I walked in rather than making me wait half an hour first? Avoid during sunny days and at the weekend.

Catch up here every Friday. Top service. Cheerful and make you feel welcome! Until Friday!

Very nice place to sit, you can really relax and sit extensively!... perhaps the tables by the window could be a little further apart (we just had a not very friendly man sit next to us) but otherwise you are simply wonderful. Very friendly staff too, the teas and coffees are very tasty. As well as the lunch/breakfast dishes, I do think the portions are a bit on the small side... at least of the dishes we had. But of good quality, you can taste that the ingredients are fresh and pure.

Super sad food, egg tasted fishy and most of the items were sold out before 1 pm (although breakfast is supposed to be all day). Used to have such a nice vegan sandwich but now it is just a waste of money to go there unfortunately. Hopefully, they can still turn it around!

I'm just not a fan. The Lunch for 2 was meh. The chai latte was mainly latte. I will soon be going for a resit in The Hague.

The monthly special wrap was really plain. Not very tasteful. And not really value for money . The location is nice at the water. Employees super friendly .

If some business has no respect for its neighbors, it makes it hard to believe they have respect for their customers. They rented the place below our building to start a branch. So far so good, right? But wait, the story doesn’t end here. For 8 months, every single morning at 7, 7:30 they drill in the concrete which echoes through the whole block and wakes up hundreds of people living in the block. Many have headaches because of this every morning. What makes it funnier is that the drilling lasts only half an hour ish. Why don’t they do it just one hour later? No respect for their neighbors. Many neighbors have boycotted them.

Overpriced. Staff nice, food below average Had croissant with scrambled eggs, spinach and bacon. It was not freshly made but only put together on plate. cold scrambled eggs, bacon overcooked and cold as well. Coffee sizes are a mystery to me, large cappuccino comes in normal size cup - which in other places is medium I suppose. Was excited about this place when I moved here but stopped going shortly after.

Great place for a good cup of coffee. Only ordered a flat white myself. But I really like the entire concept of Anne&Max. The coffee is always perfect and plenty of choice 😉 the food is not very varied but of good quality. Nice place to relax, work, read a book or just catch up with friends or acquaintances

this was our first meal in the Netherlands, the staff were super friendly and prompt, the food came out quickly and was amazing the quality was really good and fresh, the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, would definitely recommend!

Very cosy cafe, we could also work from here. The cheese tosti was great, but the chicken club sandwich was a bit disappointed, there was chicken ham instead of normal chicken and a weird saus.

Quite a nice and cosy place to have breakfast or lunch. The service is really good and quick. There's quite a chill and calm atmosphere and there's lots of seating as well. They have a small area in the corner for kids to play too. The drinks are nice and quite big. The food options are more limited but even though there's less options the ones you can go for are really nice. The food comes quite fast and you don't have a lot of waiting to do. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They bring your food quite fast and gladly explain the dishes. Overall a great place to go to and to enjoy a little drink and a bite.

As an American tourist, I'm weary of invading locals' cafe spots. The hostesses here, however, made me feel very welcome. I'm assuming it was Anne and her daughter as they looked so much alike. Both spoke impeccable English, and neither gave me any flak for not knowing a word of Dutch. They even spent the time explaining a dessert that did not have an English translation. I had the Yacht Club sandwich. It was delicious. If i had a fridge in my hotel room, I'd have bought a second for dinner (as it is, I'd place even money on me going back for lunch tomorrow). I brought back the Very Vegan Club for my friend, I'll update once they tell me how they liked it. It looked good. The inside was nicely air-conditioned, if a little warm for my preference (but i always run hot and have found most European places don't have their aircon set low enough). It had cozy furniture and a diverse offering of table heights. Some desk height, some tea table, some "normal" dining height. The outside had a fairly nice view of a canal and a beautiful classic Amsterdam row of houses across the way. There were awnings and sun umbrellas to give shade. All of the tables outside were "normal" dining height. Despite being more rugged looking for the weather, the seat I had was very comfortable. 10/10 would eat there again. Im just sad they are not open for dinner. But i get it, a mom and pop shop can't be open all day.

Really small portions for the price which was really disappointing. You pay for the location, kids area and vibe. Staff were happy to warm up a cold scrambled egg, which was nice. Plenty of other places are better but few offer the kids play area and large seating area.

Trying very hard to be trendy and healthy but slightly missing the mark with tasty and reasonably priced. Choices are slim and some of the portions are too. Ingredient quality was good but nothing sparkled or wowed. Not quite worth it.

Nice place to have a casual date or, what surprised us most, a small professional meeting. My colleagues and I used their simple conference hall. We got drinks, then towards the end of the meeting lunch. The place is well priced in the context of Amsterdam. About 22 euro for a couple of drinks with a meal. The sizes of the meals are on the small side, but it's enough for a simple lunch. I can easily recommend it as a daily place to visit in the region. It's not anything amazing, but I couldn't complain about anything. Which... actually, makes it a bit amazing.

Tja. We werden verzocht op een klein rond tafeltje te gaan zitten. Met lunch for 2 ging het helemaal niet. Portie van erwtenspread was echt heel klein, ook helemaal geen duur product, erg jammer. Als keten moet de kwaliteit stabiel blijven tussen de filialen. Dat blijkt niet makkelijk te zijn.

It's a really nice cafe to get some coffee and croissants in the morning. Pain au Chocolat is delicious as well.

Super süßes Café mit toller Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken. Besonders gut hat mir gefallen, dass es vegane Optionen gibt und die vegane Milch sogar günstiger angeboten wird als die tierische Alternative. Der Cappuccino war sehr lecker 👌
