Annie's in Binnenstad-Noord

We dined with a group of 17, two of whom had allergies (lactose and gluten). The order was taken correctly. Drinks arrived first, followed shortly after by the appetizers. We were asked if the main courses could be served immediately. Everything was correct and served simultaneously. The food was excellent. Even the steak was cooked to the desired doneness for each person. A wonderful evening with prompt and efficient service.

Lunch orders can be placed from 5:30 PM. We placed our order at 5:45 PM, but it didn't arrive until 7:00 PM, despite reminders. Therefore, I'm not judging the food itself.

Very disappointing experience. We had a reservation for 5 people. After a long wait, we each received only one drink. No food arrived at all, despite waiting 1.5 hours. The staff completely ignored us, as if we were invisible. When we finally managed to get a waiter’s attention and asked for additional drinks, those never arrived either. At that point, we decided it was time to leave. This was extremely unprofessional service, and we will definitely not be coming back.

Annie's Birthday is now Annie's. Nostalgia for me. Friendly service and beautiful winter domes on the patio.

Just had lunch at Annie's, and the staff was mostly busy with each other. Drinks took a long time to arrive. We were with our two daughters, one of whom doesn't eat much. Luckily, there was a frikandel with fries on the menu. When we ordered, the lady said it wasn't possible because they only serve them in the evening. Strange, you can order fried snacks for lunch, but not a frikandel... flexibility was lacking! Such a shame!

During the Christmas market you could sit comfortably on the terrace in a heated dome.

Still one of the most beautiful spots in Leiden. The staff is quite young and not very experienced, but service-oriented and friendly. The satay sauce is sparingly portioned, and the menu is otherwise ideal for a quick bite in the city. The atmosphere is always cozy and busy, yet you always feel at ease.

Nice service team ! With great winter Christmas outdoor area … the prices are fair compared to what I’m used to in Amsterdam! The cocktail was sooo significantly light, barely had any alcohol .. loved the borrel wooden plate that we shared its super rich ! I highly recommend this place

During this time of year, with lights and illuminations shimmering in every corner of Leiden, you're immediately struck by the beauty of the city. When you encounter Annie's, with its festively lit igloos mirrored in the water, you're not only captivated by the magical moment, but also curious to come in and see the menu, especially if you happen to be there at the right time for dinner. It was worth it. Everything was perfect: the staff was young and attentive, the food excellent, the good selection of beers and wines, and the magical atmosphere.

A lovely place in the Christmas spirit with the two domes that are set up every year. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice. The service was a bit lacking, though. We had to wait 30 minutes from the moment our bread platter was finished until we could order our main course (and then we had to ask for it ourselves). I witnessed several guests having to ask if they could order or even approach the waiters themselves... which doesn't seem right for the product being offered.

Normally an Irish coffee should have whipped cream on it, but here they just charge for the whipped cream they squirt on it... It's unbelievable

Delicious food and a great atmosphere under the dome. A few minor quirks: one guest's drink was forgotten, we didn't receive cutlery with dessert, and the table was set for four even though we had made a reservation for five (although it was correctly marked on the reservation sign). The staff was otherwise very friendly and the food delicious (especially the Oreo cheesecake!), so we will definitely be back.

A bit shabby, but the location makes up for it. The menu isn't flexible, which I find a shame. I'd prefer a half portion (but not necessarily half price). This wasn't possible.

Just sat for 45 minutes on this beautiful waterfront terrace. Unfortunately (like several other guests around us), we couldn't order anything. The staff was busy with all sorts of things, but not taking the phone. Incidentally, they were on the side of the terrace where a young lady was serving. Unfortunately, we weren't in "her area." Now we're at "Dende" in Leiden. Waterfront terrace, heated cushions, drinks taken within three minutes and served two minutes later. (And a full terrace here too, by the way.) That's how it can be done. 👍🏻

Had lunch with croquettes on bread. Delicious bread and good croquettes. The price is a bit high, but you're in a nice location, overlooking the water. Inside, it looks very nice, a bit of a basement feel with alcoves.

What an absolutely disastrous place. A truly pathetic little place, what a pathetic old man. From the very first moment, everything went wrong: one drink was forgotten, and another glass was forgotten with another. How could they even manage that? Then the nachos were forgotten, and when we asked about them, it still took ages for them to arrive. Finally, they arrived, but what a disgrace. The cheese on the nachos wasn't even melted. Are you okay, mate? All you have to do is turn on an oven. It looked like someone had thrown a supermarket bag of grated cheese on it at the last minute. Then I ordered a vodka Red Bull, which contained enough to make a mug drunk. I told her it was truly bizarre how little was in it. She came back, and it looked like something had been added. What a truly awful place.

Terribly poor service, as if you weren't there. I've been twice now and have the same experience. The beautiful location ensures a full patio. They won't be seeing me there again.

Yesterday we were at this restaurant. The staff is very inexperienced; they're students trying to make money. But they know nothing about the hospitality industry. We had to ask several times for glasses and cutlery, otherwise we couldn't eat. The staff was quite rude; hire experienced staff. The food was decent. But when I went inside, I found a shockingly filthy restaurant, and the restrooms, in particular, were a sight to behold. Bizarrely bad for such an atmosphere. It's not that cheap.

It's nice there. Unfortunately, it doesn't help when you're not served even when there's almost no one there.

A lovely local terrace in the heart of Leiden. It was already a household name during my student days. It was called Annie's Birthday. Fast delivery and relaxed food and drinks. One downside: the cheeky seagulls flying low and bothering customers by taking food in their swoop...

We only had cheese sticks, so we didn't actually try the food, but they were delicious, of course. The atmosphere is lovely, right by the water. Service varies greatly from person to person. Initially, we were served by a young, blond guy who wasn't at all interested in helping people. We had to constantly try so hard to make contact, and we really felt like we were bothering him. Just as we were about to leave, two young women took our place, immediately creating a pleasant, friendly, and helpful atmosphere that almost made us stay longer.

Part of the bar is located on a floating barge right on the canal. It has a very pleasant atmosphere, especially in the evenings.

Annie's is without a doubt my favorite spot in Leiden. You can sit here by the canal—it's truly the best spot in Leiden, with DELICIOUS food and great service. Such a great atmosphere! The nachos would be even better with chicken!

Great place. Sat on the terrace, which was wonderful. The only thing that was really annoying was that they took your glass away before you'd even finished it. This is so unwelcoming.

Today, around noon, I sat down on a 25% full terrace. It took quite a while for an order to be taken. The first interaction was a waitress snapping and asking if the people at the table next to me had stayed (great: start with "Good morning"). The rest of the service was friendly. Once I ordered, it took about 10 minutes for my cup of mint tea to arrive. Too long for how quiet it was, but the view is fantastic and I wasn't in a hurry. Great! The fish trio with bread was good. I think the tuna salad was homemade (very good), the mackerel came from a vacuum package, and the salmon was just good salmon. The bread and salad were also fine. In summary: it was good, but there are things that could be improved.

A really nice spot on the water. This time we went for a drink and a simple appetizer 😂 It's wonderful to be right on the water, with all the boats sailing by.

Terribly dirty toilet. I think it hadn't been cleaned all day. Everything clogged and the floor was literally soaking wet. The staff's reaction after addressing this was unacceptable. They were going to fix it now. It was truly disgusting. I wonder how often the kitchen is cleaned. I say Rob Geus. Taste police have their work cut out for them.

Never seen such a filthy toilet. Everything was spilling onto the toilet floor. Literally soaking wet. And it wasn't from today or the hour before. It was at least from the afternoon before. I'm glad I didn't eat there. If the toilet is this dirty and needs maintenance, will it be clean in the kitchen? Taste police have their work cut out for them.

We stopped here for a cup of coffee and possibly lunch. There were a total of 15 people sitting on the terrace with only four staff members. We waited 25 minutes for absolutely nothing, and after 25 minutes of no table service, we left! The service was incredibly poor and they really didn't want to sell anything. It's a shame, as the place is beautiful and we would have loved to spend a lot of money.

We ordered a medium steak and almost got it well done. And the chef didn't give us a new one, which was fine. The beers were good, though.

Right on the water, delicious food, great service

We had lunch here yesterday and it was delicious! However, we had to wait a long time. It looked quite busy, so I can certainly understand it taking a while to get our drinks, but we had to wait about 20 minutes before anyone even came to ask if we wanted something to drink. Even after we were told that a rather grumpy-looking employee would send a colleague to us, still no one came. Once our drinks and food were ordered, it thankfully took much less time, and it was delicious! We were served by a cheerful young man. Overall, a really nice place to eat, but it was a shame we had to wait so long.

I ordered a glass of cava at 5:20 PM today and a few minutes later, bitterballen (meatballs). They never arrived, despite asking twice. Really disappointing service. I won't be back and definitely won't recommend this place.

The cafe is beautifully located and looks inviting, but after waiting about 30 minutes to place an order, we left. It's a shame, but they don't seem to need it.

It's okay. The food is just OK. I'd go back just for the atmosphere. Nothing more. It was too expensive for what it cost.

We went for lunch and it was packed but we managed to find a table for 3 near the water. Lunch menu is simple but nice and rich. All the waiters are I think students and very helpful, friendly and efficient

We had an iced coffee here by the water on a very hot Sunday. The iced coffee was a bit disappointing; it wasn't cold, but lukewarm and had a strange flavor. The waterfront terrace is fantastic! Service was very slow.

Beautiful place! My mother celebrated her 70th birthday. The staff beautifully decorated the table with decorations I'd provided in advance. A truly beautiful spot by the water, delicious food, and friendly service. We had a fantastic afternoon. Highly recommended!

Went there for some lunch, we see it’s a big place and figured there might be bit of a wait time! Grabbed a table! Waited a bit! Waiter game over, young guy, blond curly hair, like really young (yes that matters in this context) For ordering drinks we didn’t have to wait that long, for getting drinks was bit of a wait! Then bit of a wait we got our drinks, understandable the person who brought drinks couldn’t take our order, so he sent someone over to take our food order! Which our waiter was present in couple of minutes! He took our order! Then the waiting started! Meanwhile my pornstar martini’s were nice, can’t go wrong there, iced teas had a good size, but not sweet! So we waited for our food, one of the kids ordered chocolate muffin, that came out before any other food, which I get, it probably comes from different section that kitchen! Then we waited some more! Nachos came out! Nachos were actually really nice! Tasty, with good sauces! But we waited some more…. Some more… some more…. No one really came to check on our table, if everything is fine or if we would like some more drinks…. After long wait time we had to wave someone down…. It was worker who was just a runner, so they sent an our waiter to us…. He came, we asked where is our burger and salad (we waited after nachos at least 30 minutes,before waving someone down) So now our young waiter had no interest being there I’d say…. We asked where our food, then he proceeded to check on his device… and walked off, with out saying any (sorry) I’ll check… not a word 🤣! So I assumed he’ll go and check and will let us know what’s going on! No, next moment he’s back on terrace… not letting us know anything, telling anything… 10 min later our food comes out! I had goat cheese salad-can’t go wrong with that!!! Partner had burger-bun was bit burnt, burger itself overcooked Come to time to pay… we waited yer again…

The atmosphere is good and the view is beautiful. Some dishes are excellent, others not. The tables are usually dirty, and it takes a long time for a server to come by. Outside, some of the seating areas smell terribly.

What a great place to sit on the terrace (or inside with bad weather). You sit wonderfully by the water and the food and drinks are very good!

Sorry, the service is preoccupied with himself, he really manages to ignore tables. Four people wanted to eat. After the first order, four more people came along. He even had to wait almost 30 minutes for an order for a drink. Then he came and wanted to order food. Please, one second, was the answer. Then he didn't come again for 30 minutes. That was enough for us, thank you, but not for you.

Today, July 4th, we went on a Peurbakken tour with 2 people, ate and drank at your place, we didn't order anything for a while because we were full, a waitress came and asked us what to order, if not we could leave, I ordered 1 coke and then paid €100.60, I wanted to say something but my wife stopped me, I think it's a shame, you don't treat your customers like that to make money.

Excellent place, it's magical if you're in Leiden, Netherlands. You can't miss stopping by at any time. The service is excellent, a quiet and perfect place with an impressive view.

Tosti’s besteld , gekregen zonder bestek of servetje. De tosti’s waren niet te eten …3 droge boterhammen met amper kaas en ham erop. De bediening gaf niet thuis toen ik er wat van zei. Annies zit op een mooi plekje in Leiden maar… jammer, het was het geld zeker niet waard.

Nice and cozy place, but unfortunately the rest was quite disappointing. The food (toasted sandwich) was very thinly topped and very dry. After eating we had to wait more than 25 minutes before someone came to the table. It was not busy at all, but the staff was very cozy with each other. Next time we will skip Annies aar.

We had a great time. The waiters were very young, but they all tried to understand us despite our limited English. We were very well received.

The location of this place is perfect, straight on the river in the city center of Leiden. It is really enjoyable to sit on the terrasse. The food is delicious, especially the cheesy stick and dips). They provide you blanket and hitters when it is too cold. It is a bit pricey and fancy and fair for the quality of the place.

Beautiful large terrace on the water. You have to go down the stairs to get there, so not suitable for wheelchairs. Delicious food and good coffee. Beautiful view. Always busy, so come on time.

Cozy place but I will never go here again.. we were not helped after 50 minutes. Staff does not smile and ignores guests. When we ordered food after 50 minutes it took half an hour before we got it (2 toasted sandwiches). The toasted sandwiches were cold. We will never go here again..

In three minutes we were asked twice if we wanted to order something by the same person and this later again. Right after our second round of drinks she asked again if we wanted something else. Food and drinks came quickly. Asked for the receipt this took a very long time, I think forgotten. Only in those 20 minutes no one came to the table anymore. Toilets dirty.

Sat nicely in the sun. Only the food was unfortunately much too salty. That can really ruin a tuna steak, went more towards anchovies!

Post Leiden Half Marathon stopped by for some food & drink. Service impeccable with food delicious. Perfect location, along by canals edge, for watching runners as they completed their respective races.

Pleasant time on an amazing day at Annie’s. It was a beautiful and warm spring day, with magical afternoon sunshine. With canal, calm and vibrant atmosphere in this waterfront bar/restaurant is a gift. Food was amazing, our pick was warm nachos, carpaccio salad and tuna steak. Carpaccio salad was to die for. Fresh, delicious and balanced dressing. The service was excellent as well. Staff was helpful and friendly, attentive. It seems a bit busy on sunny days, but everyone was smiling. Keep up the good work!

Delicious lunch at a beautiful location on the water

We won't go here anymore, which is a shame because it is a nice place to sit. We ordered 2 burgers and after an hour of waiting we still had nothing. After speaking to a clerk, she said that there was an error in the order, we could get a drink on the house, but we were no longer interested in it.
