Fabulous food, service and ambience in this lovely cosy restaurant. Every dish prepared with care, and some delicious wine too. Very highly recommended!

Had a fantastic meal here in this somewhat hidden gem during a couple day stay in Amsterdam. My friend and I had the 5 course chef's menu with the wine pairings and every dish was delicious and left us scraping up each plate. All of the wait staff were friendly and created a great atmosphere. Our lead server, Kai, was great. I highly recommend this restaurant as a place to seek out during your time in Amsterdam or as a local.

The first dish (the beetroot ) was good and it’s a grate experience. The second dish (the eggplant) was delicious however it is not a Michelin star restaurant dish. It was like it is a home made dish. The fish dish was under cooked and I informed the waiter. The duck dish did not satisfied my pallet -the taste was too strong on me . The dessert was rice pudding and it was disappointed how ever the canal ice cream was delicious. Thank you for your effort, I was expecting much more.

We had a lovely dinner at Arles, and every dish exceeded our expectations. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavour. We started with the squid and steak tartare, followed by the chicken and corvina for our mains- and we can’t recommend them enough (especially the steak tartare and chicken) The service was warm, attentive, and thoughtful the entire night and the cosy, intimate atmosphere and interior made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

I ended up having to rebook a lot of times and in the end cancel our reservation. So we did not actually get to try the food, but the service was impeccable and anyone I called at Arles was very friendly and understanding! Will definitely go next time in Amsterdam.

A very lovely place. The food was delicious, some dishes more traditional, some dishes more adventurous. The lovely people working there managed to pull off service despite being apparently only three for a busy Monday evening.

We had a wonderful evening at Bistro Arles. The food was excellent, every dish was beautifully presented and clearly prepared with great care and attention to detail. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. We were given a lovely corner table, which allowed us to sit next to each other and made the evening feel even more special. A special shout out to Kay for his smile, warmth, and outstanding hospitality. He made us feel truly welcome. We will definitely be back!

3-course menu with an additional cheese dish shared. The food was well-seasoned, but I really expected more French cuisine after all the reviews. It is absolutely French cuisine, but with an Amsterdam twist. The atmosphere was great and the service was friendly. However, they could have indicated that the supplement for changing the main course was €17. This was not mentioned when an alternative to chicken was requested. All in all, we had a truly wonderful evening. The dessert was pure bliss, bringing the evening to a close.

We had dinner at Arles recently, and it was an absolutely impeccable experience from start to finish. What struck us immediately was the staff—professional, welcoming, and truly hospitable. We ended up staying quite late, and yet the service remained attentive and kind throughout the entire evening, with absolutely no pressure or impatience from the staff. We decided to skip the tasting menu so that we could explore a bit of everything from the à la carte selection. As a starter, the squid was exceptional, while the tartare was elevated to another level by an incredibly flavorful and interesting wasabi ice cream. For our main course, we chose the Corvina. The fish was cooked with great delicacy, and it was served on a bed of "sauce aurore" that was simply stunning. It was so good that we had to send our compliments to the chef for such a perfect combination of flavors. We finished by ordering both desserts, and we were pleasantly surprised by the white rice dish—it’s reminiscent of sticky rice with mango, but with a completely unique flavor profile that stands entirely on its own. To top it all off, the wine list is both rich and well-curated. Honestly, there is nothing negative to say; the food quality is top-notch, the service is excellent, and it was a wonderful night out. Highly recommended!

Amsterdam with a French Accent! Had a really great dinner at Arles. The food was tasty, well put together, and just… easy to enjoy. Nothing pretentious, just good cooking. The service was honestly one of the highlights — super friendly, relaxed, and on point the whole evening. Overall, it felt like a little French escape right in Amsterdam. Would definitely go back.

This was our first visit to the restaurant and we left with mixed feelings about it. The service was okay, however the staff was not as knowledgeable as somebody would expect from a Gault&Millau and Michelin guide restaurant. Additionally the staff was drinking wine and chatting in the bar area during service, which I don't find per-se fitting with the environment of such a restaurant. Additionally to ruin the atmosphere a couple next to our table had too much to drink and it was showing, they were quite loud and disrespectful towards other guests. Talking about the food, I was satisfied with the fixed menu even though the portions could have been slightly more generous especially with the main. My fellow diners were not so pleased with everything, they found the fish extremely salty and overall some of the flavours not balanced enough for their taste. We would perhaps plan a second visit in the future and see if our mind changes.

Amex Platinum dinner for 2. It included the 3 course meal. Asparagus appetizer, Roast chicken Main and Chocalate dessert. We made it a 5 Course meal and it was a great idea. We got roasted squid and steak tartar. Even though its a French restaurant, the taste was not classic French. It was all very fresh and exciting. What really set every dish apart was that the chef clearly added the element of texture to all his dishes. So not just taste , visual and smell but also an interesting mouth feel due to the different textures of the food. In western food unlike Chinese food, texture of the food is not given the attention as much as taste. Highlight to me was the roasted squid, perfectly cooked. Loved every bite of it. The second was the roasted squid chicken. When we came in we already could smell that the chef was roasting the chicken. It was perfect. Portion for a main was on teh small side. The 3rd dish was the steak tartar. Initial disappointed because we thought it was going to be a regular steak…we missed the tartare bit somehow. Again taste was good, but i like the bite of the dish. Unlike normal tartare thats soft, this dish had a real tie to eat. least like dish was the asparagus. They cooked it sousvide…forget to ask how they know when the dish is done. All dishes tasted fresh and with a twist from classic French dishes,. What is definite French is the use of sauces…all delicious that made the dish. Dessert was an interesting combination of ice cream, chocalate ganash and meringue. Again you get the interesting mouth feel…when combining all 3 together. It was a great introduction to a fine French restaurant in Amsterdam. Even though the 3 course mean was part of the Amex deal…the 4th and 5th course are just 10euro extra per course. The restaurant is highly recommended.

I give 3 stars only to the delicious and beautifully cooked entrecôte I had as the main course. The rest was disappointing. The presentation of the dishes was good but the taste or cooking method was nothing especial.

The steak was tasty, but the appetizers were quite bland. I'm glad I didn't choose the three-course set menu, as the main dish was chicken, which looked fairly ordinary and nothing particularly special. I wouldn't call it a fully authentic French restaurant, but rather one that is French-inspired. Overall, it was a decent experience, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

Refined cuisine, warm atmosphere, a nice bonus for us was the waiter Mika who speaks French.

Highly recommend visiting if you’re looking for a nice dining experience with friendly and professional staff. Dishes were lovely, ambience is also very decent. Shoutout to our waiter, Kay, for making our experience be as best as can be.

The food is really good (especially the desert, my appreciation to the pastry chef). The place is quite busy so you have to book in advance and even if you have a booking on busy hours you might wait a bit but it worth that.

A wonderful dinner experience! Thanks for the evening. We trusted the chef, the sommelier and her team and went for the 5course menu with wine pairing: we experienced well rounded courses, every dish well composed and thought through with excellent wine pairing and attentive and warm service in a calm atmosphere. Definitely one of the best dinners we had and we will make sure to come back in our next Amsterdam visit.

A very nice restaurant. For some reason our server changed halfway through to someone pouring less wine. Subjectively, the first course was fantastic, I didn't like the main course as it was mostly mushrooms and only a tiny bit of pork. Don't put 50mg of pork in a vegetarian dish. Pick a lane. Desert was excellent but the desert wine was awful, cloying. Desert + desert wine is too sweet. Desert should come with a normal wine that compliments the sweetness. Overall a nice dinner.

A typical French restaurant in De Pijp with beautiful dishes. The food tasted good and was fresh. A nice variety of fish, vegetables, and meat. You were truly full afterwards. The presentation of the dishes was also superb (the photos speak for themselves). We had the 5-course menu and it was more than enough. The only downside was the table. It was on the small side, making you feel cramped.

Amazing… My husband is French-speaking, and sometimes it really feels like you’re in another country for a moment—it’s that special. 💛 We celebrated our four-year anniversary together with our little son, and that made the moment even more beautiful and full of love.

There were not much food, but lots of unmatching tastes. We didn’t like most of it: lots of celeriac in different forms, starters heavy covered in mayo, sweet coconut sauce completely ruined fish dish, dessert was weird. Definitely good place for people exited about new combinations of flavours, but if you just love good food, better try somewhere else 🙃 Also we were in a group and stuff never gave us a menu and just pushed everyone for 5 course menu…

This was truly a wonderful dining experience. Room felt very comfortable and inviting. It had a casual, yet refined feel. The food had impeccable presentation, and the flavours were well-balanced. Our hostess made us feel welcome and created a warm friendly environment. We found the cost of the meal almost too reasonable for the level of the service and food. We started with the beetroot/miso, which was made up of beet prepared in 4 ways. I think the beet ice cream really brought it all together for that dish. We then went to the prawns. I found I could taste the natural sweetness of the prawns as they were prepared perfectly. The main entree was an iberico cheek with pumpkin puree and mushrooms, which was rich and filling. We were too full at this point, but somehow we were able to have dessert. My wife had the crème fraîche and I asked to just have a bit of cheese. We would definitely return to Arles the next time we make it to Amsterdam!

Reasonable meals, nothing special. Minimal amounts of wine if you order by the glass. However, priced at the maximum. Small tables spaced close together. Very good service.

10/10 dining experience. Food was amazing, the wine selection is to die for, and the service was great. The only remark I have is that the tables are incredibly close to each other so you can't have any kind of a private conversation and it is not a romantic atmoshphere. My girlfriend and I were sat next to a group of guys who were quite loud and couldn't really keep a normal conversation. Food wise- maybe my favorite fine dining experience in the whole of Netherlands.

I had a delicious meal and enjoyed the fine bottle of wine that was recommended to us. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and friendly service.

The service was excellent! A nice selection of wines and expert explanations for each dish. The food, however, was extremely disappointing. Dishes were bland, underseasoned, and some were simply inedible. A bill of almost €300 for two people was completely unacceptable. We enjoy eating out often and eat everything, but this was a huge disappointment. Especially since we found this restaurant through Gault Millau, which, in our opinion, doesn't deserve a place.

We went there with high expectations as they are very well rated but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. The beetroot starter lacked both taste and creativity. The Iberico cheek main was decent, but nothing memorable. The dessert was particularly underwhelming; essentially just a spoonful of foamed pudding with a few crumbles. A note on the service: I could barely finish my starter because it simply wasn’t good. When the waiter collected the plates, he didn’t even ask whether everything was alright, which was surprisingly disappointing. Another negative point was the inconsistency in portion sizes. My husband ordered a different dish, and his portion was about three times the size of mine. The couple sitting next to us ordered the same dishes as I did, yet their portions also differed noticeably in size. Finally, when we arrived, we ordered olives to start. I paid around €4–5 for about ten olives. The alternative was bread, which was also charged separately (€3.50). It’s not about paying a few extra euros, but at a restaurant aiming for a high-end experience, it feels ridiculous to charge separately for something as basic as bread or olives instead of including it as part of the couvert. Overall, we won’t be returning. It seems more suited to people who want the appearance of a fine dining experience rather than genuinely good food and attentive service.

We upgraded our 3 course prix-fixe menu to a 4 course menu — well worth it! The Red shrimp dish with a hint of gochujang was delicious! A real marriage of east meets west. That said, the beetroot starter, steak, and dessert were also worthy parts of the meal. The guidance of the waitstaff with the wine option was also well-appreciated. A great dinner gem in Amsterdam!

Had a truly lovely experience here last Friday. The service was excellent but very calm as well. They made sure I was comfortable and had nice conversations with me (while my mother was half an our late 🙃). The food itself really lived up to the expectation. We went for the 5 course chefs menu which had lots of variation. I especially loved the beetroot dish with the miso paste/ice as the star of the show. The wine also paired very nicely. Chef Ravian also brought a few dishes at the table to talk us through the process and what exactly was on the plate. Certainly a nice touch!

Oil and bread was the best part of the meal - not a joke. Champagne was lovely, beetroot starter ok, yellow tail main tasted fishy and was almost inedible, not good… dessert was ok, nothing to write home about. Long story short, if you can get 3 courses of the bread and oil, you’re golden! Will not come back

We visited through the Amex dining experience, which includes a preset three-course menu (valued at €50 per person). Drinks, bread and any extras are charged separately. While the waitress was kind and attentive, there was a constant push for upselling throughout the meal — bread, starters, wine, switching wines for meat, dessert wine — which made the experience feel more transactional than relaxed. A major downside was the lack of price transparency for drinks. When I asked for the wine list, I was instead told the options by the glass, without prices. Only when the bill arrived did we realise glasses were around €10–15, which feels excessive given the small pours. At that price point, this should be clearly communicated. The Amex menu consisted of beetroot, Iberican cheeks, and a white chocolate dessert. While aiming at being original, all three dishes leaned heavily towards creamy, ganache-like textures, with very little contrast or structure, making the menu feel monotonous. We also added the red prawn as an extra starter, which again combined interesting ingredients but lacked a clear direction. Overall, there is no dish that I would like to have again. Despite the menu being included via Amex, we still paid around €65 extra just for drinks for two people. Overall, far too expensive for what is delivered, and not a place I would return to.

All the dishes were delicious! Nice variety. One thing I did have to say: the chef loves mousse! Almost all the five-course dishes had a mousse that was tasty, but of course, lacked any bite. We also missed a carbohydrate dish like pasta, rice, fries, or a potato.

We went as part of an Amex dinner, but the experience was unfortunately very complicated. We wanted to dine with two other friends who also have Amex cards and we had to make multiple calls and send emails just to check if booking for four was possible. Once my boyfriend and I booked, we were told the Amex capacity was full. The restaurant was too slow to respond and couldn’t accommodate us, even when our friends booked separately due to QR code issues. In the end, we couldn’t have dinner together. I find this unreasonable for such a small request we had and it also had an impact on our mood when visiting this restaurant. The food was delicious, but there were very little accommodating options for dietary restrictions.

Unfortunately, this meal was a big letdown and far below what I expected from a place positioning itself as innovative. The beetroot and miso appetizer sounded promising, but it ended up feeling repetitive—just different cuts and preparations of beetroot with very little miso impact. It came across as bland and uninspired rather than healthy or creative. The gamba with chorizo and artichoke was another miss. The artichoke almost undetectable. The flavors didn’t work together at all. The main course—Iberico cheek with pumpkin and chocolate sauce—was overly rich and fatty. The cheek itself felt greasy and heavy, and the sauce added even more weight with its sweet, dense profile. It was simply too much without any balancing elements. After such a heavy main, the sweet potato cream dessert was the wrong choice. It just continued the richness and sweetness instead of offering something lighter or refreshing to finish on a better note. Overall, the menu tried for bold combinations but lacked balance, progression, and execution. Everything felt heavy and one-note, with no real highlights to redeem it. Disappointing experience—I wouldn’t return or recommend it based on this visit.

Amazing food and experience, staff is very knowledgeable, everyone was very careful to make sure that our needs were met (which is especially important for me with gluten intolerance). 4 course meal made us feel full and happy, definitely would recommend to friends!

The food is good and everybody were kind but everything took hours. It seemed that the waiter was more interested in chatting with other guests then getting our dishes or menus or just to ask if we decided what we want to order. We left the place with no desert simply because the atmosphere was terrible as they started to close the restaurant when they suddenly realized that they forgot to take our order and then sent a random waiter to get our to our tablel. When we said that a desert is no longer an option and asked for the check they didn't try to compensate us and no one tried to understand what they did wrong. Awful experience in a place with decent food, what a shame. The staff can really use some adult supervision in this place.

One of the best culinary experiences in Amsterdam. The food was a mix of traditional south French with some chef innovation (loved the new beetroot dish) and the staff was amazing through the evening.

We had a very nice experience at Arles ordering the 5 course menu. All dishes were extremely tasty and had nice flavor combinations. Highlights included velvety purées, perfectly seared scallops, and very flavorful bbq pork belly. The menu price was extremely reasonable for the quality and portion of food. The restaurant offers a cozy and intimate setting that is very nice for a couple. I would certainly return if in Amsterdam again.

The dishes were delicious, though on the small side. Luckily, they came with bread, otherwise we would have left the table hungry. A side dish as an option? And previously, the dishes were explained beforehand: a list of three ingredients doesn't tell us much. Moreover, there was some confusion when we specifically requested an explanation because the (otherwise very attentive but non-Dutch-speaking) waiter didn't know the correct English translation.

Not quite as good as I expected. We left feeling a bit disappointed. The food was okay, but overall it lacked balance. The highlight for us was the bread served with olive oil, sourced from a bakery just around the corner :) There was also some confusion with the service. I ordered the set course menu, while my friend chose dishes from the à la carte menu, which seemed to cause timing issues, as our dishes were not served together.

Arles was a great experience. We dropped by on short notice and received great service. And the food was delicious. Especially the pork belly dish I had was a winner. The cod was really good as well. They have a good selection of wine that should suit every palate and price point.

We came here for an Amex dining experience and were so impressed with the food, ambience and servers. It is a cozy restaurant with a not too complex menu but everything works. One of our new favorites in Amsterdam.

Quite nice! We visited Arles for a dinner. It is a cozy and relaxing place consisting of three small dining areas. Our table was at the back of the restaurant, in a closed yard type. The decoration was simple and warm, as it should be, while attenton has been paid in details. It was slightly noisy, but could be expected since it was full. Service was spot on! Nice work. We tried the trhee course menu. It started with a really tasty amuse bush, with beatroot as teh main ingredien - a really refreshing way to start your dinner. Later, what came as a starter was quite unique, and all the ingredients blended beutifully with each other. As a main dish we served with cod, really tasty combination of flavors in every bite, probably one of the best prepared cods we have ever tried. The thirds course was a rice pudding, which was nothing special, a small downgrade compared to the rest dishes. The wine card, consisting only of french wines was unque and rich, our wine was nice. Overall it was a nice experience and would reccomend. However it would be more wise to try the ala cart compared to the set menu, in order to try more flavors.

Lovely food I must say! Did 5 courses and they were all delicious. There could have been a bit more varied in textures, but the flavours were spot on. I do think the service was friendly, but was a little slow though. We really had to wait a lot to get their attention. We were sat through 2 courses without drinks for example. But overal the experience was nice.

What a delightful discovery. A southern French restaurant that is both elegant and completely unpretentious. A nice variety of dishes (plenty of vegetarian options), good wine list, really high quality food (the steak tartare was delicious even for someone who rarely eats beef). Some unusual food pairings together with great classics. It’s a hit with French locals, which says a lot. Some hiccups in the service: swapped dishes, wrong wines, a bit of time mismanagement before desserts. Details, really.

Very slow service. No beer options apart from the standard Heineken. I had a three course menu and the dessert was disppointingly bland. On the plus side, the menu was not overly priced.

I had a fantastic evening here last week for my birthday. The service was so friendly and attentive. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere (and finally, a place where you could actually sit comfortably, not on those rickety chairs), the wines were excellent, and not to mention the delicious dishes (delicious oysters, risotto, and salmon with bouillabaisse sauce). I'll definitely be back.

Wonderful evening. Exciting dishes. Super friendly service.
