Quite tasty, but really not enough. We ate some fries afterwards…. The building could use some renovation.

Very nice and cozy place, we just thought it was a shame for the atmosphere that it was so quiet and that some dishes were a bit too big for our taste.

Our favorite French restaurant in Amsterdam. Ate several times and impressed by how well all the food was put together. Beautiful classic French dishes such as the lievre a la royale and pithivier have made us enthusiastic to delve deeper into French cuisine. The atmosphere is also very homely and easy!

My French friend thought it was her best restaurant experience in Amsterdam ever - and she has lived here for 15 years. We had a perfect culinary evening.

Such a beautiful location and has the potential to be a good restaurant at some point. Off kilter with the food and wine pairing and some of the dishes were cold. Competent cooking but needs some grown ups running the show.

We entered and were warmly welcomed. Food was delicious and freshly prepared. Our hostess Faye explained each dish very well. We couldn't have wished for a better hostess. In short, it was a wonderful experience and we will do this again soon. Love 4 Surinamese ladies😉

A magical place with great cuisine. Christmas dinner was famous. We thought we weren't wishing, but they totally got us. The concert of taste and appearance was perfect. Which was the goal of the entire evening. Experience a beautiful Christmas Eve. The price of the concert corresponds.

A great homey French place. Our waitress, Bella was phenomenal and made the experience that much better. We did the four course meal with a bottle of champagne and added some desert wine and a cheeseboard as well. The escargot, scallops, boar, cream puff and dove Wellington were our favorite.

Celebrated my birthday here and got some lovely impressions from the staff and their service :) Great attention to detail & tasty dishes! Only one note: my boyfriend and I are both pescatarians and would have loved to go for the fish option as main. Unfortunately, this option had sausage as well, which meant it was not going to fit us :(. Not really a feedback point necessarily, would have just loved to have a real fish option. Otherwise, the vegetarian option was truly delicious!!

Had a very special and delicious evening in a beautiful restaurant! What's extra nice is that our youngest son has a training place there as a chef!

Another French favorite in Amsterdam! Place is charming and beautiful, super knowledgeable and friendly stuff, and delicious food! We had 3 course dinner, pate was amazing! I did like my skate but I have to say I prefer fish with white sauce. Citrusy dessert was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had and Im not even a dessert person! Next time we will go for a 4 course cause portions are not big and my husband was a bit hungry after 3 course.

Ik heb het geluk gehad dat ik hier heb kunnen dineren tijdens de Lievré a la royale. Het was een geweldige avond met een heerlijke sfeer en uitmuntende service. Chef Thomas en zijn uitstekende team hebben echt alles uit de kast gehaald om dit een van de meest smaakvolle avonden te maken die ik ooit heb gehad. Alles van de amuse tot het dessert aan toe was echt verrukkelijk! Daarnaast was de service ook uitmuntend! Er werd veel gecheckt of alles nog goed smaakte en of we nog iets nodig hadden, als ons brood op was kwam er heel mooi en snel een nieuw schaaltje en er werd ook goed gelet op de stand van onze drankjes. Ook de wijn was (zoals verwacht) heerlijk en paste perfect bij het gerecht door Faye haar uitmuntende aanbeveling. Al om al was het een heerlijke avond waar niets op aan te merken was op complimenten na. Ik ga hier zeker snel weer terugkomen!

Kom hier heel graag, en elke keer blijft het genieten. Goede keuken, goede service en heerlijke wijnen. Restaurants zoals deze zijn schaars in Amsterdam.

All in all, way overpriced and strange combinations of dishes. No attempt to put aside a nice terrace table when requested a week earlier. No record of that on arrival. Lack of knowledge about the menu and drinks from the waiting staff. Very, very disappointing for the money, especially as it was a birthday dinner.

Mijn vriendin had hier 3 maanden geleden gereserveerd voor mijn verjaardag. Uitdrukkelijk gevraagd voor een mooie plek op terras. Hoe ingewikkeld is dit. Bij aankomst was niks geregeld en we werden naast een geparkeerde auto geplaatst. Het eerst dat we kregen was de wijnkaart. Waarom? Ik wil in een Frans restaurant een aperitief in de vorm van een pastis of kir. Hierom moeten vragen is een min. We kiezen een Kir Royal. Dat is een Cremant met crème de cassis. We kregen een vage bubbelwijn met kersenlikeur. Dat is de tweede min. Daarnaast vroegen we een fles kraanwater. Deze werd keurig gebracht. Het begon al donker te worden en 3 x gevraagd om kaarsen. Deze kwamen uiteindelijk na een 45 minuten. Derde min. De kaart lezen bij je telefoon is irritant en dan begin ik ontstemd te raken. De oesters waren super klein voor €4,- per stuk maar wel lekker. Vervolgens de wijn. Een prima Bourgogne voor € 12,- (!!!) per glas. Mijn vriendin kreeg 1/2 van mijn hoeveelheid en het werd ongeïnteresseerd ingeschonken. Dat pik ik dat niet en roep de ober om een fatsoenlijke hoeveelheid wijn voor deze forse prijs. Dat vond hij niet zo leuk. Enfin het 4 gangen diner bleek met veel saus bereid te zijn en de smaak was vlak. De verschillende gerechten leken qua smaak wat op elkaar door de saus denk ik. Al met al werden we voor de prijs van €69,- per persoon niet verrast. En dat mag je wel verwachten voor deze prijs. Het desert was ronduit slecht. De framboos ging nog wel maar de mirabelle was gewoon vies. Smaken verschillen zullen we maar zeggen en het werd netjes door een andere ober opgelost met het andere desert op de kaart. Pluspunt. Op de rekening stond vervolgens het water voor 2x €3,-. Dit noem ik de Hollandse ziekte. Ik betaal geen €3,- pp voor beetje kraanwater. Ook niet als er een filtertje tussen heeft gezeten. Pure oplichting en in Nederland helemaal niet nodig om te filteren. Het water werd dan ook van de rekening gehaald. Tot slot bleken de toiletten niet schoon en ook nog eens oud en kapot met papieren handdoekjes. Hier verwacht je iets beters. Kortom volledig overpriced, service matig en verdient heel veel verbetering en de kwaliteit is gewoon zeer matig. Geen aanrader dus.

Heerlijk gegeten en mega leuke bediening met persoonlijke betrokkenheid. Zeker een aanrader!

Nice little spot hidden on the outskirts of Amsterdam central. The location is really nice and the attention to decor is a gamechanger when the weather is good. The service is the first point I need to highlight. The blond lady was amazing. She was professional, and very engaged. The night made even better by her service. Also her wine knowledge is on-par. Now for the food. The amuse Zuchini was good and tasted like… zuchini. Not a foreign experience, but good nonetheless. The bread was amazing. Crunchy and soft. No remarks there. The tomato starter has a lot of potential. Although good. No surprising taste but well flavoured. Some flavours really pack a punch and stand out. The fish main was good. Again not special, but wll done and flavourful. Dessert was also well done. All-in-all a steady experience with a lot of potential.

Het eten was heerlijk maar service laat te wensen over. Wijnarrangement gekozen maar bij de eerste gang was de serveerster de wijn vergeten in te schenken, kan gebeuren natuurlijk. Bij de tweede gang ging een andere ober de wijn inschenken en wist niets over de rode wijn behalve te vertellen, ik citeer: ‘de wijn is rood, de sommelier heeft hem uitgezocht dus hij zal wel goed zijn.’ Daar hebben we overigens al 3 weken lol van, maar bij een wijnarrangement kan dit echt niet. Nagerecht uitgeserveerd en uitgelegd toen m’n vriend naar de wc was (en niet herhaald toen hij terug was) vervolgens wijn van het nagerecht uitgeserveerd toen ik zelf naar de wc was. Kan gebeuren maar als je 250 euro uitgeeft mag je meer verwachten, alleen goed eten voldoet niet. Voor ons geen tweede keer. Naar dit restaurant gegaan na eerdere goede ervaring bij café Caron maar zijn nu wel hersteld van deze keten, genoeg andere restaurants voor dit budget.

Echt een heerlijke avond gehad. Dank jullie wel voor het voortreffelijke eten, heel smaakvol en verrassend. Het vegan hoofdgerecht was fantastisch.

Beetje uit het centrum, maar een prachtige restaurant met exquise gerechten. Fijne bediening.

The quality of the food and the good atmosphere are the perfect combination for a dinner with your partner.

Extremely overpriced and pretentious. My wife and I ordered different starters, mains and deserts each and shared them. Amuse bouche - bean soup with strawberry. Who on earth thinks this combination works? Unbelievable. The seafood starter - no seasoning, melon way overpowering the fish, accompanied by burned almonds. Tomato dish - the only decent dish we had, and the only thing I would recommend. Monkfish dish - the portion of monkfish was so tiny it was only slightly longer than the prongs of my fork. A nice courgette flower, but then mixed in with an overpowering tomato puree. Again, there is no seasoning. Veal dish. No seasoning. Are these chefs allergic to salt? Meat was okay, but too bland. Cherry and chocolate dessert. All tasting like stuff you can buy from the supermarket. Biscuits were burnt. Fruit dessert was ok, but the crunchy biscuit sat at the bottom of a pile of fruit and ice cream and went soggy within minutes. It's all style over substance and at outrageous prices. Chefs pretending they are Michelin star but clearly do not understand the most important aspect of food which is FLAVOUR.
