We recently dined at Le Bleu and had a wonderful experience. The foie gras served with the tarte tatin was especially delicious — a perfect balance of richness and sweetness that really stood out. The chef’s steak was cooked to absolute perfection, tender and full of flavor. Overall, the meal was outstanding, and I’d highly recommend Le Bleu to anyone looking for refined dishes and great service in a relaxed atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning if I get back to Amsterdam!

I’ve been frequenting this place since the spring of 2018, believe it or not. It all started off with the lobster dish they used to have, before moving to the steak tartare these past two years, since late 2023. The food is always impeccable, as does the service, which never fails to impress. The ambiance is cosy and it almost always feels like a slice of home. Some Hallmark-like home, that you never truly been in before, let alone owned. A massive shoutout to Hans, David, the other guys, and the Dutch lady in Black as always. Great team. Highly-recommended and a must-visit, without the faintest shred of a doubt. A usual and constant pilgrimage for me, whenever I find myself back in Amsterdam.

At Kruitvat, I'd received a €20 Aquafresh coupon for a restaurant. I'd googled online and made a reservation at Bleu Amsterdam for 5:15 PM through dininggift.nl for a 3-course menu for €55 per person. So, for two people, €110 minus €20, which would be €90, excluding drinks. When we got there, the waitstaff couldn't find it, so she went to her manager, who was sitting at the table with a laptop. She came back through "Where did you make your reservation?" I showed her the menu, and they couldn't find it. I then asked, "Can we still have the 3-course menu?" She went back to her manager. She said yes, so we asked, "What can we choose?" If we didn't want dessert, could we choose two appetizers? She went back to her manager. It was literally the third time. Instead of her manager explaining things, or having her manager explain things to her properly, because she literally knew nothing and was apparently new with no experience and didn't even know what she was doing. Finally, she came back and I said, "We'll just order separately from the menu, not a 3-course meal, because the explanation wasn't clear about what we could choose." I ended up choosing two appetizers to share with my girlfriend: scallop and tartare, one main course: steak for 2 people with fries, and one side dish: a salad. We ordered a total of 4 dishes together, excluding the fries that came with the steak for 2. We received a bill for two 3-course meals. We looked at each other like, uh, how?! We literally had two appetizers and one main course. The tip wasn't worth it, so we didn't give anything. We had to pay at the bar. Instead of the service coming to the table with a debit card. Tip for the manager: train your staff well, so they don't have to walk back and forth asking questions they don't know. This restaurant was a one-time visit, not a repeat. The little things just weren't good. You want to enjoy your food and the service, but unfortunately, that wasn't there. We paid €93 for one bottle of sparkling water, way too expensive for what we got. I'd rather have paid €90 for the three-course menu. The receipt even had a line saying a carafe of tap water was €0.00, which I thought was ridiculous, even though we hadn't ordered it. It's better to have all-you-can-eat sushi or Korean BBQ; you'll be full for what you get, and it's even cheaper.

We had high expectations considering the high rating and the beautiful images. While the main floor is indeed very nice (but crowded) we were seated in the basement which was not nearly as nice. The food was fantastic but they struggled with the service. Ordered items were missing and we could not eat together. Even a simple water bottle took very long. Throughout the evening some of us had to layer up because of cold air.

Lovely, cozy, elegant. Friendly young staff, great food. The perfect semi-hidden gem just off the canal. The Xmas decorations, lights and wooden beams made it all click for me. 10/10

I had lunch here and ordered the Eggs Norwegian. The dish was nicely presented, but the eggs were cold. My tea was also not hot. The door kept opening, which made it a bit uncomfortable. The service, however, was friendly. Overall, the experience was okay, but it could have been much better.

I came here just to have a nice evening to myself. After waiting an hour, the staff said, "Sorry, we can't serve your food. We're busy with a group of 30 people." Your group is not professional.

It's a shame that if you participate in the Walking Dinner, which for us was just the main course, you know that groups can participate and then you're still irritated by the louder guests, especially those upstairs and in the back. The food was mediocre.

Had a group dinner at Bleu and they were kind enough to accommodate a large group reservation for 10. A cosy restaurant (with a loft), and great ambience. Enjoyed the chef’s steak, French onion soup and coq au vin. Flavours were perfect, and the free flow fries were a nice touch. However service could have been more attentive (had to remind a few times before we got our water - but granted it was a busy peak period when we visited). Overall still a pleasant experience dining at Bleu.

It's a super cozy place, and the food is also excellent. However, the tables were very close together. You felt the urge to apologize when you sat down. That does foster camaraderie, but I prefer a restaurant with a bit more privacy.

We came in for an early dinner to celebrate our last night in Amsterdam. French influenced food is one of our favorites but we didn't want a pretentious atmosphere, Brasserie Bleu hit all the marks. We had the mushroon toast and the scallops for our appetizers, both were excellent. A much anticipated Coq au Vin that my wife ordered was terrific and my House Bleu Burger was outstanding. Cooked medium rare as requested (which can be a problem in Europe some times) with great flavors and the fries reminded me of my time living Belgium years ago. Renzo our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. We definitely would recommend Brasserie Bleu if you are in the area and we will be back in the future.

Accidentally found a gem! We stopped in for a cocktail, and they make them amazing here! Happy hour from 3-6 p.m. Along with your drink, you get a wide selection of free snacks. Where else can you find that in Amsterdam? Pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff speaks Dutch and is exceptionally friendly. Dogs are welcome and even get their water before you can order it. All in all, more than satisfied. Definitely recommended if you want to enjoy an afternoon of people-watching from the terrace.

Loved the cozy vibe here and the wine list was definitely on point. Service was a little slow though, and the cheese platter didn’t quite live up to Dutch standards — would’ve been so much nicer with some local cheeses. Still, a charming spot to linger over a glass.

La comida estaba bien en general, pero 2 ejemplos que no: Rillette de pato servida caliente. Pensamiento asqueroso, comida asquerosa. Lo devolvimos y lo quitaron de la factura. Así que - llamado Foie Tarte Tatin: un hígado de pato servido en una goo de manzana y calvados. Creo que había pastelería debajo, pero también estaba gorda. Básicamente, una falta de fijnheid (finura) que caracteriza la comida de restaurante en Ámsterdam en general. En general, no está mal, pero muy caro para lo que es. Buen personal.

Great food, the chef knows how to make a steak. The atmosphere is very nice, the only thing that bothers me is that at one point you sit next to other guests' feet. Drinks were only served once...there was no demand. However, the food was very good.

Great bistro, and that's about it. And I don't mean that negatively; it's just a good place where you can't go wrong.

Excellent ribeye cooked to the exact temperature served with peppercorn sauce (other options available). Grilled vegetables charred well and unlimited fries. Onion soup prepared with a lighter broth; I prefer darker. 4-5 bistro tables available outside on narrow sidewalk, where we sat. Interior was small and intimate, on two levels of old architecture, so stairs could be an issue for some. Quentin & Tino were very attentive and friendly. Generous pours.

made an reservation for an dinner there, asked specifically asked for an table close to a window, when we got there the waiter was not aware of that even tho was mentioned on the reservation and the only table close to an window was taken by someone who just got there, we asked again and he said they do not make table reservations????? then why make reservations at all? the place do not match the price they charge !

For the price this was quite disappointing. We were advised to make a reservation a week in advance because it was busy. We did this and reserved a table by the window. Once we arrived we were offered a random table that we could choose ourselves, there were no specific tables reserved and our request for a table by the window could not be honored, it was occupied for a non-reservation. Staff shrugged their shoulders about this. In itself this experience is not bad, but for the prices asked we found this very substandard.

Good steak and generous portion. Steak even comes with unlimited fries! Nothing to complain about.

Here I had a steak. Personally overcooked. Unfortunately, the doneness was not asked (do you want blue rare medium or well done?). Maybe because we were with a group but still. The atmosphere is very cozy and it is a nice and small restaurant.

We ended up at this restaurant in the centre of Amsterdam via American Express. Because we live in the west and are not in the centre that often, we thought it would be nice to eat here. Generally an okay experience. Because we booked via Amex, we got a 'set menu' with a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses that we did not have to pay for. Only the sides and dessert cost a bit extra. The service consists of smooth, friendly young men and the service was very fast at the beginning of the evening, because it was not that busy yet. The starter came a few minutes after we had ordered. In terms of drinks, they have a great cocktail and wine list here, and we enjoyed both the Aperol Spritz and the Espresso Martini, which could be made decaf on request. Generally the food was as you would expect in a tourist place like this. Fine, but not exceptional. Because we went on a summer day, it was very warm inside, especially when the restaurant was full later in the evening. A little more air conditioning would not have been an unnecessary luxury. The location is very central and nice, a great restaurant to eat if you are in Amsterdam for a day. It is not very big inside, but that may make it more atmospheric

We went for a birthday dinner and it was a really lovely and wholesome experience! We went around 17:00, and around 18:30 it started to get quite busy so we would advise to get a reservation or go a little earlier than what would normally be a dinner rush. We had a soft baguette with delicious butter as a starter. We had a blood orange cocktail which was 10/10 and the Kiev Mule which was very refreshing with very subtle flavors. For our main, we had chefs steak with butter and herbs and pepper sauce which were both delicious. They came with unlimited fries! We also shared the cheddar burger which was great, however had a strong tomato paste flavour that took away from other flavours (not a problem was still delicious). For dessert we had the chocolate crumble with caramel ice cream which was delicious and they took the time to sing happy birthday :). Our waitress was very kind and she had only been in the Netherlands for two months, but was so welcoming. We will be back!

A very cozy bistro, with French cuisine that was very pleasing to the palate, such as coq au vin and beef bougignon. It's worth a visit and using thefork was very easy and quick.

I went to dinner with a friend, and the experience was deeply disappointing. The restaurant ran out of the dish I ordered but failed to inform me UNTIL my friend's meal was served. No one offered me a menu, nor did anyone ask if I would like to order something else. As a result, I sat there without a meal, watching my friend eat hers. The lack of communication and basic courtesy was unacceptable for any dining establishment
