This is a cosy restaurant with a nice vibe and friendly service. It was the first time I went here with two friends who were visiting from Belgium. After our dinner one of my friends got extremely ill and had a food poisoning. She had to throw up all night and was very weak the next day. I passed by the next day to inform them about this situation. One of the waiters told me they would get in touch with me by phone but I have never received any phone call. For the rest we thought the portions were very small. The three of us were still hungry, also after ordering extra fries. I am normally not a person who eats a lot. Overall we had not had the best experience in this restaurant.

Truly delicious. The service and food were top-notch, but it felt like a local pub. I went alone on a Sunday evening in October. It was packed. They found me a spot at the bar, brought me a delicious glass of wine, and asked if I could sit outside, which I did. The outdoor heaters and blankets were a nice touch. I started with mussels in beurre blanc, followed by steak and salad, and finished with crème brûlée and dessert wine. Absolutely top-notch. The Viognier and the salad dressing were truly world-class. Simple, yet incredibly delicious. The staff are also fantastic. A true hidden gem in the city. Go!

Pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious! The dishes all seem "simple"/standard, but they're all beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is very French inside, with small tables, etc. The crème brûlée is also highly recommended.

Disappointing. We shall not be returning. Ordered two fish mains- both were stone cold, the fish was slimy, tough, raw at centre. And missing the sauce. On a table for two, eating the exact same dish, with zero special requests or extras. This shouldn’t be a hard order to plate correctly.

A nice location, only very narrow seats, and terrace, the menu is also minimal, the food was good. Portions are also small.. a small pastis to accompany with the bill would be fitting...

Always a treat. The atmosphere is great, the menu is small but good, the staff is young and friendly... I come here weekly now, for the reason mentioned above, and it's also affordable.

To start with the positives: the staff was quite friendly and accommodating, although a bit clumsy. The place also looked pretty nice yet also relaxed. The food definitely wasn’t terrible but nothing remarkable. A bit lackluster and bland for French food. A lone steak without frites is a novel concept I have never ever witnessed in France. Menu wasn’t very interesting and quite meager. Portions are a bit stingy compared to your usual French brasserie, which makes it a bit overpriced.

Dining at Pastis was nothing short of magical. Honestly, it was the best meal we had—every dish a masterpiece. We couldn’t resist and ended up ordering nearly everything on the menu, from the Caesar salad to the steak and all the deliciousness in between. The Caesar salad was the best we’ve ever had—crisp, fresh, and unforgettable. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection, melt-in-your-mouth tender. And the mussels special? Heaven in a bowl, rich and flavorful, the kind of dish you dream about long after the last bite. What truly made the evening shine was our server. She was incredible—warm, attentive, and made us feel completely taken care of, like we were guests in her own home. Her energy elevated the entire night. And then, the fireworks surprise for my birthday—such a beautiful, thoughtful touch that turned an extraordinary dinner into an unforgettable celebration. Pastis isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a place where food, service, and atmosphere come together to create magic. A true gem in Amsterdam. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

One of tye best steaks I've ever had

What a nice brasserie with a sunny terrace. A piece of Paris in Amsterdam. There were even French guests sitting next to us. It feels a bit like your own terrace, there is even a house cat that has been greeting all the guests for 15 years. The service is very attentive and the food is just good.

Delicious food, the asparagus were great. Very nice service. The only thing is that the tables are very close together. You can hardly get between them if you need to go to the toilet.

Wow! We were very spontaneous and last minute, but we still received a very friendly welcome and service. The food was very, very good! We had oysters, cod, and mushrooms – all highly recommended. Everyone finished with a pastis. Absolutely recommended.

Very nice traditional French bistrot. Friendly and punctual service. The place was packed on a weekday evening. One disadvantage; poor acoustics and very noisy; you could hardly hear each other at a table for 2. We were upstairs. Something must be done about this.

A solo 10 - 15 minutos a pie de la zona del museo se encuentra este lugar encantador. El nombre indica un estilo francés y es el caso. Platos y preparación típicamente franceses. Menú pequeño pero de excelente calidad. Servicio amable, muy popular por los lugareños.

A truly French atmosphere and delicious French dishes, very nice service. Unfortunately, some men could be reminded that that nice, friendly atmosphere does not include their dominant loud voices.

The mushroom vegetarian main course was delicious. The staff is super nice and friendly, the atmosphere is great. We were disappointed with the dessert, it was messy and mediocre.

The service - average, the waitress could not remember 3 dishes, but we are also in the Netherlands so I couldn’t expect more, they had free bread at least The food - was okay, but for this price, I was expecting more in terms of quantity and presentation. Also escargot without the shell, but suspicious. But they had a cute cat tho Will not visit again!

Perfect for a romantic dinner but also for a fun night with friends. Sitting outside in the summer or inside in a super cozy atmosphere. Just perfect! The waitresses, mostly super nice girls are always happy to help. Really happy to have found this gem in a city full of tourist traps. ❤️

We had a lovely meal at Pastis. The tartare was a bit too fatty for our liking, but the steak and the fish were both fantastic. The orange wine was a standout for me, as well. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed while still feeling polished and the service was friendly and prompt. The prices are also very reasonable for what is provided.

Everything was impeccable! The escargots and mussels are a must! The menu is pretty restricted however that is usually a sign of mastery for specific dishes.

The place is perfect, staff is professional and attentive but food is just “meh”, It is like in the States: fancy well decorated places, great atmospheres but just standard well done food. As example the little chocolate served with the coffee was under temperature (white). This is the kind of place you’re paying for the place and not the food

Food very good. Service nice and by a Dutch speaking team. Where else can you find that in Amsterdam! Positively surprised when we asked for the bill. What a great price-quality ratio. If the weather is warm, I wouldn't sit upstairs. This was the only negative point. That was resolved well so that we could sit outside on the terrace after our dinner. I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic place, very professional staff and (as a Frenchman) really exceptionally tasty French dishes at a very fair price. I went with my girlfriend during the week, where we had a really leisurely dinner. That was no problem at all for the staff and they took our wishes into account. Highly recommended for those who are looking for a cozy place with a short but very interesting menu that offers something for everyone. My girlfriend (who is Dutch and from Amsterdam) had not often eaten so well in Amsterdam in that neighborhood and with that quality of food, staff and the right price. Charming French bistro. Love the rustic setting, we were inside to start and then moved to the terrace. Classic French dishes, well presented and just as they should be. Level of service was perfect and well timed, didn’t feel rushed at all, just right for a spring evening on the terrace. Though I imagine it’s also so cosy inside in cooler months. Look forward to trying more on the menu, the steak frite was delicious and couldn’t resist the dame blanche 😋🤩

We had dinner with friends, the atmosphere is welcoming and there is a sweet cat inside the place. The food is ok but not excellent, it didn't convey anything to me. The cheese plate is very sparse compared to other French cafes in Amsterdam.
