The service - average, the waitress could not remember 3 dishes, but we are also in the Netherlands so I couldn’t expect more, they had free bread at least The food - was okay, but for this price, I was expecting more in terms of quantity and presentation. Also escargot without the shell, but suspicious. But they had a cute cat tho Will not visit again!

My absolute favorite restaurant in Amsterdam! High quality delicious food for the best price and a super lowkey French atmosphere. My go-to restaurant recommendation for friends & family. Perfect for a romantic dinner but also for a fun night with friends. Sitting outside in the summer or inside in a super cozy atmosphere. Just perfect! The waitresses, mostly super nice girls are always happy to help. Really happy to have found this gem in a city full of tourist traps. ❤️

Very cozy place. As if you imagine yourself in Paris, 50 years ago. The service was very good, attentive but not intrusive. Small menu with good, pure food. I'll definitely be back.

We had a lovely meal at Pastis. The tartare was a bit too fatty for our liking, but the steak and the fish were both fantastic. The orange wine was a standout for me, as well. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed while still feeling polished and the service was friendly and prompt. The prices are also very reasonable for what is provided.

The owner was an absolute delight and the food... the food was even MORE of a delight. Do yourself a favor and don't pass this one up.

Everything was impeccable! The escargots and mussels are a must! The menu is pretty restricted however that is usually a sign of mastery for specific dishes.

The place is perfect, staff is professional and attentive but food is just “meh”, It is like in the States: fancy well decorated places, great atmospheres but just standard well done food. As example the little chocolate served with the coffee was under temperature (white). This is the kind of place you’re paying for the place and not the food

The two waitresses that served us were beyond charming, beautiful and professional...and then came the food! Heavenly! And the wine even more so! Cannot wait to come back, the interior is heaven 😍

Wow, what a surprise. Never been before, but will definitely be back. What a nice restaurant. Not too many expectations, but nice and full on a Tuesday evening. Card, simple but tasty. Food very good. Service nice and by a Dutch speaking team. Where else can you find that in Amsterdam! Positively surprised when we asked for the bill. What a great price-quality ratio. If the weather is warm, I wouldn't sit upstairs. This was the only negative point. That was resolved well so that we could sit outside on the terrace after our dinner. I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic place, very professional staff and (as a Frenchman) really exceptionally tasty French dishes at a very fair price. I went with my girlfriend during the week, where we had a really leisurely dinner. That was no problem at all for the staff and they took our wishes into account. Highly recommended for those who are looking for a cozy place with a short but very interesting menu that offers something for everyone. My girlfriend (who is Dutch and from Amsterdam) had not often eaten so well in Amsterdam in that neighborhood and with that quality of food, staff and the right price. Thank you for this fantastic evening!

Arrived in Amsterdam the day I went here in 2023 I was very tired but this restaurant woke me up. It was nothing special but the food was outstanding. A great steak.

Charming French bistro. Love the rustic setting, we were inside to start and then moved to the terrace. Classic French dishes, well presented and just as they should be. Level of service was perfect and well timed, didn’t feel rushed at all, just right for a spring evening on the terrace. Though I imagine it’s also so cosy inside in cooler months. Look forward to trying more on the menu, the steak frite was delicious and couldn’t resist the dame blanche 😋🤩

Top place if you want to go out for a nice meal. (Tip: also nice for a date.) But you already have me if you call your tent 'Pastis' and it stands on cozy red canopies.

We had dinner with friends, the atmosphere is welcoming and there is a sweet cat inside the place. The food is ok but not excellent, it didn't convey anything to me. The cheese plate is very sparse compared to other French cafes in Amsterdam.

Gezellige avond en zeer lekker gegeten. We waren half uurtje te vroeg, maar konden met alle plezier al een aperitiefje nuttigen. Voorgerechtje was een huisgemaakte foie gras, fantastisch lekker. Hoofdgerecht steak was perfect gebakken, steak tartare was van uitmuntende kwaliteit. Een aanrader!

Cozy bistro with nice French food. Everything is taken care of in a cozy atmosphere. I really like the upstairs and the staff is very sweet. If I lived around the corner, it could easily be my regular neighborhood restaurant. You really feel at home there! Price quality is top :-)

Pastis Amsterdam is a charming French bistro that offers an excellent selection of dishes. The menu is well put together, with just the right number of options to choose from. It is a wonderful place to eat out, with a cozy atmosphere and attentive service. Although the upstairs area can be a little quieter, I prefer sitting downstairs where the ambiance is even livelier.

Delicious French food, good that they don't put too much on the menu. Better a little less and everything good quality. Have eaten twice now and would love to come back again. Super nice atmosphere, top service.

The steak is OK, but not enough, you pay €20 for a ball of meat with 1 string of beetroot.

Een fijne en rustige plek die de Franse ambiance en smaken goed aanvoelt. De menukaart is overzichtelijk wat het kiezen een stuk simpeler maakt. Er staan klassiekers zoals Paté en Escargots op en het aanbod wijnen is meer dan prima. De bediening is bijzonder vriendelijk en sprak -tot onze verbazing- gewoon allemaal Nederlands, ook wel eens fijn.

As a French person, I loved Pastis! I don’t agree with other comments mentioning the small portions, we actually thought the quantity was generous and of good quality for reasonable prices. We had the cheese platter (for 2 and it was enough!), the cabbage and chicken, 2 desserts and 1 glass of wine per person, for less than 50,- EUR. I’ll be back!

I only give it 4 because the food wasn’t great, but was really good. So if we compare it with the neighbors like Le Forel, it is not that level. But..but is important here, that the price difference is also not small. So if you want something casual, well arranged, French, good food and reasonable pricing - you go here.

Favorite French restaurant in Amsterdam! Delicious steak tartare, escargot and crème brûlée! Cesar salad and steak was great too! And don’t forget the oysters and pate! Will definitely be back! Service is amazing and the space is cozy and chic!

Nice ambience, but unfortunately the food itself was nothing to write home about and rather bland. It wasn't bad, but not great either, just average. Also I got a steak medium rare and my mum got hers well done. For some reason her piece of steak was thicker than mine. The steak itself was quite tasty, but cold. Steak tartare was extremely bland. Fries were average, salad was good though. The portions weren't great either, I got three pieces of meat for my main course steak dish.

Leuke ambiance, fijne attente bediening en lekker eten. Erg goed waren de voorafjes van gekarameliseerde witloof, plateau charcuterie (oa. de paté met uiencompote, rilette) en natuurlijk de oesters. Ook de steak met dragonsaus, de Cotes du Rhones daarbij, de dorade met garnalenbisque en de crème brulee smaakten uitstekend.

Heel erg lekker eten en gezellig. Wij hadden als voorgerecht de escargots en de witloof, die waren waanzinnig lekker. Als hoofdgerecht had ik de dorade en mijn vriend de steak, die waren ook erg goed. We vonden de hoofdgerecht porties wat aan de kleine kant. Mijn vriend en ik hadden beide nog honger na het hoofdgerecht. Maar dan hebben we maar een toetjes besteld.

Normally I never choose the vegetarian option, but I was glad I did this time! The 'spitskool' was super delicious!

Wonderful experience. We were recommended this reastaurant by our friend and it was 100% worth it. Just by walking in I saw they have our favorite drink (amaretto sour). The atmosphere is great, the food is absolutely mindblowing. I've never had such a good vegeterian main course as the one in here. They really don't take veggie option as secondary one. Oh and don't forget to say hi to their lovely cat that just chills in garden pots. If we every visit Amsterdam again, we are coming back fo sure!

Lovely place to eat and drink, friendly staff that went out of their way to make me bitterballen, even though they weren't on the menu that day! They were delicious too. Great location too, pretty street view.
