What a fantastic place this is! Cozy, good food and drinks, and warm people.

We thought we were going to have a nice meal at Pastis and ended up with a hair in our food twice. The first time was at the charcuterie; we sent it back and simply got the same plate back minus the hair in the rillette! Unfortunately, we were able to figure this out because we had seen the plate come back with the pickle exactly where we had left it. This really felt like we weren't being taken seriously, but we were still charged the full price. After that, we received the steak with a hair in the sauce. Fortunately, we received a crème brûlée on the house.

After having eaten very mediocrely for two weeks on vacation, we were fortunately able to book a table at our favorite restaurant while in the taxi from Schiphol. It ended the vacation on a high note: delicious steak and nice wine. The service was super attentive, as always. See you again soon!

We had been seeing the restaurant from outside and it always looked really nice and cozy. Finally we had chance to sit and enjoy their food. We had Escargots, Oysters and Fries. Escargots was different, but delicious. They are serving escargots without shelves, directly inside of the sauce. Base sauce was really delicious and the texture of the escargot was fantastic. We really loved their way of serving. Nice atmosphere, nice neighborhood and delicious food.

Such a lovely restaurant in Amsterdam. We loved that we were able to get food quite late (after 10pm) and how attentive the young service team was. The outside seating and the inside seating give off a cozy and romantic atmosphere; definitely take your date here! Food and drinks were tasty and surprisingly for cheap prices considering you are dining in Amsterdam, the most expensive city of the Netherlands. Side note: If you are here long enough you will eventually encounter their cute restaurant cat

What an incredibly atmospheric, beautiful, and cozy little restaurant Pastis is, a real gem 🥰 Very nice music, a cozy terrace, and we had a truly delicious meal. Truly delicious. High-level service and food, but it feels like a neighborhood café. I went there alone on a Sunday evening in October. It was busy. They found a spot for me at the bar, grabbed a lovely glass of wine, and asked if I could sit outside; that was fine. The heat lamps and blankets outside were a nice touch. Started with the mussels in a beurre blanc, followed by the steak and salad, and finished with a crème brûlée and dessert wine. Everything was truly top-notch. The Viognier and the dressing on the salad were truly world-class quality. Simple but incredibly tasty. The people who work there are also just amazing. A real hidden gem in the city. Go! Edited June 2026; Truly one of the best corners in the city. These people are so lovely, even gifted me an umbrella as it started pouring rain as I was about to leave. Their wine selection and execution of French classics is impeccable. Plus beautiful details like a lovely cat that keeps you company and some fleece blankets outside in case you get chilly. Nice, cozy place with good value for money. Staff very friendly and fast service. They could provide gluten-free food, however, they do not have gluten-free bread and the fries are also not suitable for people with celiac disease because other items are cooked in the same oil.

Food was Ok, had the steak and it was dry and did not taste much unfortunately. The wine and service was great. The atmosphere got a bit loud, mostly due to other loud guests.

We managed to snag a last-minute booking at Pastis, and it turned out to be the highlight of our evening. From the moment we walked in, the staff were lovely and incredibly accommodating, making us feel welcome, food was very tasty & arrived promty,If you're looking for an authentic bistro experience with high-quality service and a friendly, local crowd, Pastis is the place to go.

I’ve visited Pastis many times and have always appreciated its charm and friendly service, which is why my experience on March 30 was so disappointing. The steak tartare did not seem fresh and the taste was off. We also ordered beef medium rare, but it arrived much more cooked than expected. After waiting more than 30 minutes for a replacement, the new dish came out burnt on the outside and the meat was still not tender. What made the evening worse was the lack of acknowledgment from staff. There was no apology, no real follow-up, and for a bill of around €350 for four people, the overall experience felt far below expectations. As an Amsterdam local, this was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had there, and based on this visit, I would not recommend it.

We have had diner several times at Pastis and the food is great (mussels were excellent) for a reasonable price. The atmosphere is always lively with an excellent service :)

Cosy French restaurant with attentive and knowledgeable waiting staff. We sat upstairs in a corner near the top of the stairs. Felt like a cosy environment without being cramped. Waiting time from ordering to receiving food seemed just right. Nice wine selection to accompany our food. All three of us had steak and shared fries. All tried different desserts and enjoyed everything on offer. Would definitely come back again.

Yesterday, I wanted to have something to eat and a drink here with my father and mother. We arrived at 15:57 and politely asked if we could sit down already. Unfortunately, the girl who served us reacted very rudely and arrogantly and said that we should just come back later because they don't open until 16:00. After that, we were basically completely ignored. Of course, it is possible that someone is having an off day, but the way this went felt very strange and unwelcoming. It's a shame, because this immediately gave a bad first impression. Hopefully, something will be done about this 🙂

Charming and cozy bistro. The atmosphere is casual, but this doesn't compromise the quality. The food is delicious, fresh, and well-prepared. The wine list is excellent, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. A bit of Paris in Amsterdam. The only downside is the small tables, which are also very close together. You really have to squeeze in.

We had dinner with my partner at Pastis. The restaurant is very cozy inside, with jazz music and warm ambiance. We started with 2 glasses of Grüner Veltliner, super tasty. We ordered the plate or charcuterie and the chicorie as entrees. Both were great. Our main courses were the celeriac tarte tatin with brisket and the cod with prawns. For dessert we had a bread pudding with dulce de leche and a crème brûlée. Both of them were great, amazing place!

The three of us enjoyed a wonderfully quiet dinner at Pastis, a charming and relaxed neighborhood restaurant where quality and hospitality are clearly paramount. We enjoyed oysters, escargots, and steak tartare as starters, followed by cod and a steak for the main course. Everything was carefully prepared, classic French cuisine with attention to flavor and texture. The wines perfectly complemented the dishes and rounded them off perfectly. The staff deserves a special mention: incredibly friendly, attentive, and visibly enthusiastic, without being intrusive. Just the right balance for a relaxed evening of dining. For the crème brûlée purists: The topping (caramel) was thin and evenly caramelized. The custard was silky and creamy, with a distinct flavor of real vanilla—no synthetic aftertaste. A beautiful balance between sweet and creamy. The temperature was just right: the custard cool, the caramel layer freshly roasted and still warm. Just as a classic crème brûlée should be.

The food was delicious. The non-alcoholic cider was also very good. Excellent value for money. The atmosphere was pleasant.

My wife and I had originally planned dinner at another restaurant nearby, but unfortunately, that turned out to be a disappointment. After the starter, we politely declined and went for a walk. That is how we stumbled upon Pastis spontaneously. We walked in without a reservation, even though it was actually already packed and very busy. Nevertheless, we were immediately given a warm welcome and offered a seat, either outside or at the bar. We chose the bar and had a wonderful, cozy evening there, in the company of the sweetest house cat and cheerful, extremely attentive staff. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. The dishes were delicious, without exception, and also very reasonably priced. The Irish oyster and the steak tartare were truly fantastic! But above all, it was the genuine hospitality and the enthusiasm of the staff that made our evening unforgettable. What started as a failed dinner date ended as a wonderful evening. Many thanks, we will definitely be back!

This is a cosy restaurant with a nice vibe and friendly service. It was the first time I went here with two friends who were visiting from Belgium. After our dinner one of my friends got extremely ill and had a food poisoning. She had to throw up all night and was very weak the next day. I passed by the next day to inform them about this situation. One of the waiters told me they would get in touch with me by phone but I have never received any phone call. For the rest we thought the portions were very small. The three of us were still hungry, also after ordering extra fries. I am normally not a person who eats a lot. Overall we had not had the best experience in this restaurant.

Disappointing. We shall not be returning. Ordered two fish mains- both were stone cold, the fish was slimy, tough, raw at centre. And missing the sauce. On a table for two, eating the exact same dish, with zero special requests or extras. This shouldn’t be a hard order to plate correctly.

A nice location, only very narrow seats, and terrace, the menu is also minimal, the food was good. Portions are also small.. a small pastis to accompany with the bill would be fitting...

To start with the positives: the staff was quite friendly and accommodating, although a bit clumsy. The place also looked pretty nice yet also relaxed. The food definitely wasn’t terrible but nothing remarkable. A bit lackluster and bland for French food. A lone steak without frites is a novel concept I have never ever witnessed in France. Menu wasn’t very interesting and quite meager. Portions are a bit stingy compared to your usual French brasserie, which makes it a bit overpriced.

She was incredible—warm, attentive, and made us feel completely taken care of, like we were guests in her own home. Her energy elevated the entire night. And then, the fireworks surprise for my birthday—such a beautiful, thoughtful touch that turned an extraordinary dinner into an unforgettable celebration. One of tye best steaks I've ever had

What a nice brasserie with a sunny terrace. A piece of Paris in Amsterdam. There were even French guests sitting next to us. It feels a bit like your own terrace, there is even a house cat that has been greeting all the guests for 15 years. The service is very attentive and the food is just good.
