Restaurant De Belhamel is one of those places in Amsterdam where everything is just right. As soon as you step inside, you are embraced by the warm, elegant atmosphere. The beautiful Art Nouveau accents in the interior give the restaurant a stylish look, without it feeling overly chic. And we haven't even mentioned the view yet! Located at the intersection of the Brouwersgracht and the Herengracht, you have a beautiful view of the canals from almost everywhere. The staff are attentive, friendly and have just the right balance between professionalism and hospitality. From the moment you enter, you feel welcome and at ease. The food at Restaurant De Belhamel is simply excellent. Each dish is a harmonious fusion of flavors, with surprising combinations that are clearly made with love and craftsmanship. A small downside is parking. Parking near the restaurant is quite expensive, but honestly, it's worth it.

Booked a table at random after reading the many good reviews. Very nice experience, beautiful building, nice atmosphere and wonderfully friendly people. We chose the chef's menu. We were not super fans of the caviar snack (we thought it was too sweet, but that is of course personal), otherwise the food was very tasty and sufficient (crab and soup were our favorites), beautiful plates and excellent wines.

A cosy restaurant in the Art Deco style. We entered the place through the side entrance, which concealed a beautiful Art Deco bar. The restaurant itself has a cosy atmosphere and overlooks a canal crossing. The staff is young, very attentive and friendly. They seem to enjoy working at De Belhamel. The food was excellent. I had French onion soup, which I had not had for ages, and it was great. My companion enjoyed a carpaccio served as a roll. Main courses were mussels and ravioli stuffed with pumpkin, both excellent. The wine list is extensive, but we decided to follow the staff's recommendation for wine by the glass - a wise decision. The dishes come at a price, but are well worth it. I highly recommend a visit to De Belhamel.

We had the 5 course menu du chef. The food itself was fine, but we found most of the dishes a bit simple and lacking in inspiration. Especially for the hefty price you pay for it. The atmosphere, on the other hand, is very nice and the service was great!

This restaurant was recommended by a local. The initial experience was good but the escargot appetizer had a piece of metal like a rivet in it. When the waiter was informed they offered to replace the item. After that experience, the rest of the meal was quite lackluster and no accommodation was made except to comp a beer. Would not recommend.

This place is very nice and cozy, the service was a bit slow, but in general good and attentive, but the main thing you’re coming to the restaurant for - the food, unfortunately, was nothing special and a little bit overpriced. I mean, for the 30+€ you don’t even get the whole duck confit, just a small piece 😅 and it’s not like they make some elaborate Michelin style dishes, just normal French inspired food.

The location by the canal provides a romantic atmosphere, perfect for special dinners. The dishes are carefully crafted with authentic French flavors. We tried the onion soup, which was exquisite, and the Dutch mussels, served with a spicy sauce made from a delicious fish broth. The wine selection is excellent. The service is attentive and professional, making the experience unforgettable. Highly recommended.

With this price range, it is prolly the best European-cuisine kitchen I have been in Holland. Oyster, Catch of the day, Tartare and Sirloin steak were all incredibly fresh, great tastes. The service was great as well through the whole dining experience.

Although I only had a seat at the bar, Bram, who turned out to be the owner (a man with a disarming charm), made it an absolutely fantastic experience. He paired a crisp white Bordeaux with my oysters, and even graciously didn’t charge me for the wine. The beef tartare was superb as well—an unforgettable treat!

Posits itself as fine dining, yet has flavour combinations that would baffle anyone with common sense. For example, the odd use of coriander where it's not needed and doesn't work, in an olive tapenade where it overpowers any other flavour, and poorly garnished on my mussels, while overpowering the sauce in which they were plated, which was in the exact strange sauce that my partners "fish of the day" was plated on, which was a bland affair, and an extremely lazy dish. A pick of the day should be an interesting combination of flavours, not the reuse of a leftover carrot and coriander soup which fails to go with fish. The French onion soup was nice, but is evidently the only lesson that they've learnt from French cooking, the chef should also learn that certain flavour combinations are tried and tested for a reason, and that "pushing the boundaries" should require tasting your own food, and not shovelling coriander into 3 different dishes with thr same sauce as a base. A fine dining factory, not a bespoke experience.

I went for dinner at De Belhamel with a friend and we had an amazing time. The cozy atmosphere with yellow lights and candles make it very special. The service is friendly and joyful and their recommendation for food and wine were perfect. The menu consist in French cuisine with a Dutch touch, well prepared and price wise is fair. It was a fantastic experience.

We came on Saturday noontime just for a drink…that was the plan but because of the nice atmosphere we ended up with a very nice buratta, the shallot tarte and the pumpkin ravioli. Everything was very delicious and special! The restaurant is elegant and cozy with view to the canal. We really enjoyed it! Thanks a lot ⭐️

What a unbelievable experience, sat at the bar with a very warm welcome. Had some delicious wine with a appetizers. The steak was quite exquisite with the mushrooms sauce. I highly recommend eating here if you are looking for a date night.

Discussion about wine glasses.. received beautiful Kir Royal in a large wine glass 😞 expensive champagne in a clumsy glass, but was not restored to a beautiful champagne glass; then a delicious Saint Emillion Grand Cru in a white wine glass?? Not a nice red wine glass... the owner indicated that the red wine was too 'cheap' for a nice wine glass... We have our own vineyard in France... they should visit that with the Belhamel! Sorry for this unnecessary discussion...

Mi esposo y yo tuvimos una noche mágica y romántica celebrando nuestro 30 aniversario de boda en De Belhamel. Muy acogedor. El servicio fue excelente - atento pero relajado - el tempo perfecto para acompañar el menú degustación del chef que era excepcional, junto con los maridajes de vinos. Todo estaba delicioso pero poco exigente. Muy recomendable.

De Belhamel es un restaurante italiano / francés que tiene un menú limitado, pero fabuloso. El filete de solomillo era de primera calidad, bien preparado y venía con grandes lados. Para una aplicación, la burrata es tan buena como cualquier otra que se encuentra en Italia. El personal de camarero fue atento y profesional, sin ser distante. Y por supuesto, situado en un canal el ambiente era elegante pero acogedor. Definitivamente vale la pena una parada!

A really super restaurant, perfect food in beautiful surroundings

Beoordeling Restaurant De Belhamel: We hadden bewust om 17.30 uur online gereserveerd, omdat hier geen tijdslot op zat. Het eten was erg lekker en de sfeer aanvankelijk prima, maar de service liet helaas te wensen over. Terwijl we nog genoten van onze laatste happen en wijn, werd al gevraagd of we klaar waren. Daarna kregen we de dessertkaart onder onze neus gedrukt. We waren nog niet klaar om te bestellen, en gaven aan eerst nog even onze wijn te willen opdrinken, maar dat leek niet duidelijk te zijn. In een kwartier tijd werd wel drie keer gevraagd of we een keuze hadden gemaakt voor het dessert. Tot onze verrassing bleek er ineens een tijdslot van 20.00 uur op onze reservering te zitten. Kan gebeuren, maar het was op dat moment pas 18.50 uur… We gaven aan dat we ons nogal gepushed voelden, zeker gezien het feit dat er nog tijd genoeg was, minstens twee tafels vrij waren en er niemand stond te wachten op een tafel. De bediening vond het ook vervelend, maar gaf aan dat de manager vond dat we maar eens moesten bestellen. En dus bleef het personeel ons vragen om een dessert te bestellen, wat de sfeer voor ons volledig verpestte. Uiteindelijk hebben we besloten om af te rekenen en ergens anders een dessert/koffie te doen. We hebben onze avond op een veel leukere plek in een straat er achter, bij Nieuw Amsterdam, voortgezet. Dus als je op zoek bent naar een relaxte avond, raden we je aan om De Belhamel te vermijden en bij Nieuw Amsterdam een tafel te reserveren!

Carte élaborée, raffinée et travaillée avec des produits de saisons. Un service absolument parfait et bienveillant dans un cadre hors-norme. Un vrai moment de détente et de partage avec mon amoureux mais aussi avec le personnel qui est aux petits soins!

Perfect place for a date or dinner with friends. The food was amazingly delicious, service was excellent and everything overall was great. Very interesting dishes freshly elaborated from high quality ingredients. I would like to separately mention the bread with butter appetiser that was probably the best bread and butter we have ever tried.

The cuisine in this restaurant is so good, I had the pumpkin ravioli 10/10 😍 and the entrecôte was delicious !!! The waiters are so patient and nice !! The interior of the restaurant is charming as well 😊

Spectacular restaurant: a 10 in atmosphere, location, service and most importantly: food. The entrecôte and tartar, essential. There were two of us and we got 65 per head including a glass of wine each. Unbeatable.

It is not very often i give 5 * . But this restaurant deserves it .

Even if we had dined inside and not have had a stunning view of two canals on warm evening while dusk arrived, it would have been a wonderful and very memorable meal. An inventive risotto entree was slightly beat out a refreshing beef carpaccio as the highlight until the amazing moelleux au chocolat, resting atop a pond of caramel alongside a scoop of caramel ice cream. The service was attentive and helpful. A meal to remember!

My wife and I ate there for our wedding anniversary and it was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve ever had. We opted for a table outside as I’m a people watcher and ordered the five course dinner. The food was imaginatively prepared and delicious, the service was impeccable and being right along a canal the proverbial icing on the cake.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. My wife and I had an absolutely incredible dining experience here during our trip to Amsterdam. We decided to eat here our first night of the trip, and I’m very glad we did. I made a note to the restaurant my wife and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary, and from the moment we walked in to the moment we left they made our evening very special. The food was absolutely incredible and we had a wonderful table by the window looking at the canal. We came back again Thursday evening to have a few drinks in the bar, which is such a cool spot with a great atmosphere to have a drink. Thank you for making our evening one we will always remember! Dining here was one of the highlights of our trip!

Had a good meal here before. Now extremely disappointing experience. Imaginative chewy marinated tuna starter. Fish of the day was bone dry and tasteless. The sirloin steak was completely cooked even though it was requested à point. The risotto had sand in it, the moelleux au chocolat was also dry and barely had any liquid chocolate in it. The crème brûlée was too liquid. The restaurant is in a beautiful location, has a good terrace and has good service, but make sure you employ a good chef!

I've been to several high-end restaurants in Amsterdam and around the world. This one truly stands out for its attentive service, quality of food and -of course- pictoresque location, right in front of the canal, yet in a quiet area of the city. Bonus points if the weather is nice and you can sit outside. Totally recommended.

Don't leave Amsterdam without visiting this place. The building, the food and the service are incredible. If, on top of that, it's a good day and you can dine on the sidewalk or at the tables on the canal, it is a priceless thing.

Enfant Terrible or de Belhamel is just that a huge trouble maker for your taste buds -you are hooked after the first bite. Everything about the place food , canal , boats passing by creates the perfect Amsterdam atmosphere and the chef Milan creates memorable French cuisine pieces etched in your culinary memory. Owner proprietor Stijn and Bram created perfect backdrop for Amsterdam with cozy interior and fantastic French feeling -Amsterdam one is transported timeless venue and have a delightful experience. I and my six year old twins celebrated their birthday and enjoyed the monk fish , escargo, French style eggs with salmon, salad Niçoise salad. And Bram our personal server and co-owner made us welcomed and added to our exceptional dining experience. We felt very welcomed and cared for. We can’t wait to return to taste menu in years to come.

What a great place. We had lunch here on the terrace on a summer Sunday afternoon. A relatively quiet and romantic spot in the middle of the city. Very friendly service, nice spot to watch people passing by, boats on the water... the picture is complete. And we haven't even talked about the food yet. We thoroughly enjoyed the various dishes. Everything was really good. We will definitely come back.

Recommended if you want to have a romantic dinner. Both inside and outside. Not as busy outside as elsewhere in the city. But a nice view over the canals. Food and service are fine. Well worth the price.

Wem es aber mehr um die kulinarischen Freuden geht, der kann eine gehobene Bistrotküche in sehr schönem Art decor-Ambiente erwarten. Solide Küche ohne größere Überraschungen, aber auch ohne negative Enttäuschungen. Die Weinkarte ist gut sortiert, aber auch die offenen Weine sind qualitativ gut bis sehr gut, die Preiskalkulation ist fair und in Ordnung. Fazit: klasse Location, solide klassische Bistrotküchen, qualitativ hochwertige Produkt, netter und freundlicher Service. Sprich, alle Zutaten für einen netten Abend!!!!

Unique venue in the Jordaan area. Staff was very friendly and easy going. We had the luck of having a table outside with canal views. The food were classics with a modern twist and overall of good quality. I was a bit disappointed with the ceviche as it lacked some spice or specific flavour, but the wonton, beetroot carpaccio and beef were very tasty. Overall, I recommend for a memorable dining experience.

Location, decor and atmosphere are splendid. The perfect place for a romantic date. The service was incredible, very friendly and accommodating to our picky requests. My only qualm was the main dish (we had sirloin steak) , I found it and the trimmings were fairly bland and not really worth the price. The deserts on the other hand are impeccable, we had the chocolate molleux and the crème brûlée
