Thank you very much for your effort and The taste of food was amazing. I really liked whatever I ate. The place is ordinary in terms of furnishing, tables and designing. It is located on the corner of the street and there are few tables around. I mean this is not a big and very luxury place, in other words, you can go there in casual clothes or any hour of the day. However, I recommend reservation just in case. The staff is really kind and fast. The prices are not low but the food deserves. Thank you so much for your kind service.

Solid rude 10/10. understand why there are other 1-star reviews. My friend and I just asked for the menu and we wanted to start with drinks. The waiter told us LUNCH only and asked us to LEAVE. ummm, or is this place only allowing white-people only to sit outside?

Restaurant De Belhamel has one of the most beautiful terraces in Amsterdam. Situated on the bridge, overlooking the canals, it is a delightful place to sit and watch the city pass by. The service is exceptionally friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even more pleasant. The prices are on the high side, but this is offset by the excellent location and the welcoming service. A lovely spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner in a unique location.

Went for an anniversary dinner with my wife and was not disappointed. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Note for people with disabilities: there are stairs within the restaurant, but there are accessible dining areas inside and outside. The food was high quality and quite reasonably priced. I had the ENTRECÔTE ‘BELHAMEL' (pictured) and my wife had the catch of the day, which was monkfish (also pictured). Both were excellent, but I just have to note that the monkfish was probably better than any lobster I have ever tasted. Oh, and I'm not normally a huge fan of green beans but the ones served with my beef were amazing. There have been times when ChatGPT has steered me wrong, but this was not one of them. At the risk of repeating what you've already heard, my only additional guidance would be to make sure you dress for the weather, as it was pretty chilly when we went in late July (mid 60s Fahrenheit with a moderate breeze).

We had a wonderful evening at De Belhamel. We were with my girlfriend and a couple of friends, and from the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, ideal for a cozy dinner. For the main course, I chose the duck breast, which was perfectly prepared: tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We drank an excellent bottle of red wine with it, which was recommended by the staff and paired perfectly with the dishes. The service was attentive, friendly, and professional without being intrusive. Everything was just right: the quality of the food, the lovely ambiance, and the good service. Highly recommended for a special night out in Amsterdam. We would love to come back again!

We had a wonderful lunch at De Belhamel! Every single dish we ordered was delicious, from the fresh oysters to the gnocchi and the snoekbaars, I think a local Dutch pike perch, which was fantastic with the grüner veltliner. Dining by the canals was a must while in Amsterdam, but what really made our visit stand out was the service; welcoming and attentive. If you're looking for a great meal with a view in Amsterdam, this is definitely it.

Very good except for the view... Construction work and barriers right in front of the tables obstruct the view of the beautiful canal... It's a big part of the charm of this little restaurant that's disappearing, while the price is relatively high, which is still very much present...

Such a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant is located in a magical place at the junction of two canals and it is a beautiful dining room with lots of light. The menu and preparation of the dishes were wonderful, with a classic but creative menu. Excellent wine list. But the best part of the experience was the restaurant staff, who were highly professional but very friendly and helpful, to the point of moving our table because my wife was cold in the breeze coming through the door. We can't wait to return to Amsterdam and when we do, we will go to de Belhamel.

Absolutely amazing place in Amsterdam. Excellent service, food is great and the atmosphere is amazing. Sitting inside in cozy interior or outside by the canals really is really nice. We came here three times during one weekend and had a great time. Must come back!

The food, the steak for example, is delicious. They do seem to like the somewhat greasy sauces. The bone marrow is really very fatty. That was a bit disappointing. The lamb chops were still very rare. But we received a new portion that was a bit better. So the service is professional and friendly. It is pricey, though, but that is 90% of the hospitality industry in Amsterdam. So we rarely eat out because of this anymore. Such a shame. The location on the canal is magnificently beautiful in the summer when you can sit outside. Very Amsterdam-like and less than a 10-minute walk from Central Station. You pay an absurd amount for the drinks, especially for the wine. So very restrained in that regard. 2 people had a starter, 1 of us had dessert. We didn't have coffee and yet we spent an average of €75 per person.

The bread and butter they offer in the beginning of your meal was some of the best French butter I’ve ever had. Our server, Mitchell, was helpful in explaining the menu and gave recommendations. The bartender working that day made an amazing Hendrix martini. And our other friend, from Bangladesh, was giving us lots of information about the restaurant as well as the local area, almost like a personal tour guide. The first course, escargot with herbed butter, was delightful to say the least. Save some bread to absorb the remains. The seasonal white asparagus dish with ham, hard boiled egg and petite potatoes was superb. We don’t offer this style of cuisine much in the States; a treat to dive deeper in traditional cooking. The sea bass as a main was swimming with flavor. I appreciate this style of French cuisine in “the Venice of the North”. The atmosphere and the staff made the experience terrific. De Belhamel came highly recommended by our friends in Miami, FL, USA and it did not disappoint. The outside table overlooking the canal was the perfect setting for dinner for my wife and I. The service was friendly, courteous, and attentive but not wanting to get us out because they were booked with reservations. The food was spectacular. We had a bottle of white Voignier wine. They served fresh baked still warm bread and butter. We started the meal with the prawns and scallops appetizer which was well seasoned and tender. We had the French onion soup which was tasty and hot topped with toasted bread with melted cheese. The main course was the lamb shanks which were tender and delicious with the peas and carrots. Unfortunately, we were stuffed and could not have any of the dessert choices which sounded to die for. Five stars in our book. Highly recommended!!!!

I visited for my husband’s birthday, hoping for an experience similar to our wonderful time at Aan de Poel, but unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment.The Positives:We truly appreciated the warm welcome and the drinks at the start. The staff is generally very kind, friendly, and provided a lovely atmosphere to begin the evening.The Food (Epic Fail):The Meat: The meat was incredibly gristly—so much so that we couldn't even chew or swallow it.Mixed Orders: Our orders were completely confused. My daughter requested medium-well with no sauce and only French fries (no vegetables). It arrived with vegetables and sauce. My 'well-done' order arrived correctly cooked, but also with unwanted vegetables and the sauce separated.The Dessert: The cheesecake was a shock; it arrived without a base/crust. My daughter described it as just 'cheese and jam with a burnt taste.'While the service and ambiance are lovely, the meal itself was a significant failure, especially for a special occasion.

A positive standout is the lady with the blonde ponytail, who seems cheerful all evening and keeps an eye on everything. The food is a feast, and the atmosphere is cozy and intimate. The quality-price ratio is absolutely excellent, especially considering the quality of the food. I recommend it without hesitation and will definitely return on my next visit to Amsterdam.

De Belhamel was highly recommended by neighbors and I had walked by the lovely outdoor tables more times than I can count. Now I highly recommend this Joordan gem. One recent Sunday, I took myself out to lunch and enjoyed the Chef’s 4-course menu. The food tastes outstanding and the presentation was lovely. Always awkward to dine alone, however the staff were very warm and attentive.

However the food was so and so- risotto was probably not the happiest risotto I had in my life (was more of a Spanish rice floating stew, Arborio rice should have been used and in right risotto proceeding…); only the pate we had as starter was real nice!

The whole experience left a bitter aftertaste. The waitress was rude from the start. My wife and I were having a quiet, romantic moment—she kissed my hand and whispered "I love you"—and the waitress went to the chef to complain. He then came over and asked us to "slow down." We paid €185 to be told in what is supposedly one of Amsterdam's most romantic restaurants that we weren't allowed to show love or affection. After that, the whole evening was ruined. We had already ordered dessert, but I was so disappointed that I got up and left without eating it.

After a disappointing visit to another place, we passed by this restaurant and jumped in without checking the menu. Luckily they had a table for us and we enjoyed some excellent dutch mussels with some wine. Would recommend booking a table for this place

Had a lovely lunch here with my mom and grandmother. We ordered Caesar salads, catch of the day, fries, and bread with butter — the bread tasted wonderfully homemade. It was the second time I was there. My friend and I enjoyed the atmostphere of the restaurant. The food I ordered, Risotto geconfijte fazantenbout, was super delicious. The staff were very friendly and offered us suggestions for the interesting places nearby to go after dinner.

Everything was perfect - from reservation to farewll. Top ambiance, authentic Jugendstil preserved, very friendly and convincing service in relaxed atmosphere, excellent food quality.

Staff was very very nice. All the people that served and welcomed us were really sweet. The food was solid for most part, it’s just unfortunate how the ravioli tasted acidic and bland to be honest. The tuna tartar was like every other tuna tartar, my risotto was good and the black tea creme brulee was amazing. I’m just a bit disappointed on the main course. The bill ended up being pretty high, and given that one of the two main course was pretty mid (in my opinion), I left the place with a bit of an itch.

It said it would be open until 22:00 and it was closed at 20:00. There was a lady vacuuming and she didn’t bother to even answer the phone.
