DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER GOING HERE. Rudest proprietor I have ever encountered in five decades of fine dining across the world. Worst dining experience in a city otherwise filled with culinary delights and great service.

This place is nothing short of AMAZING!! Excellent food and service!! It’s a small, quaint/cost restaurant that has been around since ‘91. Perfect for a romantic dinner.

A musty restaurant with downright unfriendly service and really bad food. all dishes float in puddles of thick cream sauce and nothing is fresh. stay away!

It was an amazing experience during our short stay in Amsterdam. I am vegetarian so accommodating my way way of dining wasn't too easy, however the staff/owner/chef really took an extra mile to suit my needs and offer a dish which wasn't on the menu. It was delicious and inspired me towards my own cooking! Five stars to wine too! Thank you so much for having me.

Lyon - Paul Bocuse in Amsterdam. Lovely French style setting over 2 levels. Smallish, homey feel… where the time stops when u step in and inhale the taste & smell of France. Fresh & full of taste @ very fair value paired with an excellent glass of French wine. A place one / we want to come back to again & again. Merci

I came across this restaurant whilst on a walk in the afternoon with my friends in the Jordaan, and decided to make a booking a few days prior— best decision ever! They had ample space to fit in a table of 3 on a Friday night, and the ambience and cosy atmosphere was so fitting for the cuisine. They ask for a confirmation via email on the day of your booking so be sure to confirm it. We all opted for the 3 course menu and everything offered was spectacular. I’ve never seen our plates so clean. The wine was also very lovely. The staff speak perfect english but the kind waiter tending to us was also tending to everyone else in the restaurant, hence service was the tiniest bit slow; it’s also harder to get their attention if you’re sitting upstairs so that’s definitely something to note. We still got really good service though, it wasn’t a huge problem. All the food was explained and described really nicely before we made our choices and the when the dishes were served. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Really nicely decorated restaurant serving fine dining! I enjoyed my time there, their fish meals are simply amazing. Not so fan of the crepes as the dessert but overall 3-course menu is a fairly priced & good option.

Nice restaurant, food is very tasty, good taste and balance. Portions were good, staff was knowledgeable and experienced.

Luxurious food (and sauces!), great wine selection, excellent service in a romantic setting at very reasonable prices. Warm interior with neatly set tables with starched linen and colorful chargers. Friendly and highly experienced gentlemen in the service who always know how to donate at the right time. Dishes that, as stated above, are quite hearty, but where you somehow manage to eat five courses because they are such delicious, solid Old Belgian cooking craftsmanship. And then before you know it you've been sitting at the table for four hours and you've had a very pleasant evening.

The food is of excellent quality. Very enthusiastic service. An abundance of delicious flavors. The sauces are especially delicious. The wines, e.g. the eiswein with dessert are very good.

My partner booked a table for Christmas dinner but his 70+ year old mother fell down and unfortunately we had to cancel all subsequent events including this one. When we contacted the staff he started shouting and telling us that we had to pay for the dinner. He hung up on us abruptly and within a few minutes he sent us an online payment request. If customer service doesn't make you happy, change your position, you are really damaging your business. We for one will never go there again, and surely if you continue to treat your customers like this your customers will decrease.

Today saturday 15.02 around 13 my girlfriend asked to reserve a table by phone and got answered "You don't speak dutch not even good english go to school" and then the guy hanged up the phone. Unacceptable but no worries we will spread around us how rude you are.

A gem of a restaurant to find in Amsterdam. Great French/Belgian cuisine served up in a cosy ambience. The food we ordered were all good especially the sauce was on point. The wine we had was superb. Service could be better. Not that the gentleman taking care of our table was not good, but rather he was overwhelmed serving too many tables. Would love to dine here again.

This needs more 5 star ratings!!! The food is delicious, the staff are incredible and it’s wrapped in such lovely cozy restaurant! I particularly loved their fish dishes! A Good steak is hard to come by in amsterdam, theirs was spot on!!!

Made a reservation last year for 2 people, unfortunately had to cancel on the day of dinner because my appointment had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer the night before and I wasn't in the mood... The person on the phone immediately started shouting in plain Amsterdam that it was it is antisocial to cancel on the day itself and disconnected without giving me the opportunity to explain anything. This person (owner I suspect?) is informed that this person recently died from this disease. Maybe a tip to think first and inform yourself before you start shouting. Just received another scandalous response. First of all, I did not make my call on a Friday evening, but a few hours beforehand from home, given the situation, certainly not from the catering industry, as any right-thinking person will understand. Second, it's been 10 months, so your response is very unbelievable. You are either mistaken about the person or you are lying flat out, possibly both! Finally, everyone can now conclude what kind of person we are dealing with. Instead of being ashamed and humbly apologizing, just lie and attack. Well, decide for yourself whether you want to eat here, I would say.

He pushed us out the door at 7:30 pm on Sunday. Needless rude. The place was smelly too.

På 9. År besøger jeg Chez George når jeg er i Amsterdam et par gange om året. Maden klassisk fransk og helt i top. Fiskepaletten er klart min og min families favorit. Der er aldrig nogen finger at sætte på kvaliteten. Det er en lille intim perle, tændte stearinlys og god vin, med god service. Det ser ikke ud af meget udenfor, men indenfor er der en hyggelig stemning.

Incredibly rude waiter/owner, who just kept complaining because we just ordered a main dish and a wine per person instead of a making it a 3/4 course meal with starters, deserts, etc. The food is good but this experience was horrible. The owner should understand if you offer a main dish option in the menu, people don’t need to order a 3 course meal.

Nice place, everything a bit dated, good atmosphere. Tip: grab a nice glass of wine here. They are very reasonably priced, and good.

Tolle Erfahrung im Herzen Amsterdams! Der Gründer des Restaurants (leider bereits vor 12 Jahren verstorben) war Koch im Team von Paul Bocusse. Und das schmeckt man insbesondere an den raffinierten Saucen und Suppen. Die Gerichte sind samt und sonders ein Gedicht, die Weinkarte ist übersichtlich aber klug zusammengestellt und der Service ist in kuscheligem Ambiente aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und sehr freundlich! Fazit: rundum gelungener Abend! Reservierung unbedingt empfehlenswert!

Beautiful old place where excellent Classic Burgundian food is cooked. It's all a bit jaded. Good value for money, and decent prices for good wines. Tip: choose a nice white and red, they are really very good, we had the Sainte Veran Veille Vignes, and a nice full Pinot Noir also from Burgundy. The gentleman who served us was very experienced, it's a pity that he was in a bit of a hurry at the end of the evening around 10 o'clock and forgot to ask us if we wanted any coffee, but if we had it, it just cost him the 5th star.

Excellent food delightful ambience and superior service

We had the pleasure of dining at this charming, independently-owned restaurant, and it was an absolute delight! Run by a dynamic duo, the cozy atmosphere and personal touch made for a memorable experience. We opted for the set menu and were blown away by every dish, but the foie gras and scallops in a lobster sause were the true standout – simply divine! If you're looking for a culinary gem with exquisite food, look no further than this place.

The food was actually great, very unfortunate about the waiter, I think he needs help. He seems stressed, unhappy and very disrespectful. This might not be the right industry for him and his age.

We had an awful experience: we were invited to a family dinner, but when my wife told the waiter she is allergic to garlic and onion the waiter told her to “go eat somewhere else”. She took just a few bites but has been ill for 2 days

Fantastic Burgundian experience in a special and cozy 'living room' setting. The seven-course menu is accessible, with meat and fish and Flemish influences. The wine list is extensive with beautiful and surprisingly affordable wines and the service is not only very professional, but also very friendly and pleasant.

My husband made a reservation for dinner here for Sunday January 28. He received a email just stating to “confirm your reservation for tomorrow or we will cancel” at 10 pm the night before the reservation. Before even getting the chance to read the email, the restaurant canceled our reservation by 9 am the next morning (day of our dinner reservation). I’ve never experienced such rude and poor customer service in my life. Who checks their email between the hours of Saturday 10 pm - Sunday 9 am anyway? Crazy. At least now we’ve learned that we would never want to spend our money to support such a business. Learn some decent manners and customer service skills.

How unprofessional and rude is it for a restaurant to threaten a customer to confirm a reservation they made online or it will be cancelled? How are you still in business? You shouldn’t be if you treat customers like that! And by looking at past reviews, I’m not the first one to experience this kind of treatment from the owner, nor will I be the last. Steer away!

What a discovery! We saw Chez Georges by chance in passing and were lucky enough to get a table in the fully booked restaurant after a cancellation. A small and fine restaurant over three floors, really excellent cuisine, a great team in the kitchen and service. The food was incredible, each of the five courses was of the highest quality, and the wine pairing was excellent. This certainly wasn't our last time at Chez Georges! Thank you for this great evening!

Delicious food, good service and a cozy atmosphere. A small restaurant in one of the nine streets in Amsterdam. We took a surprise menu and it was very successful. Parking is always a bit of a puzzle. Tip: reserve a space for your car at the IJdok parking garage, costs 15 euros for the entire evening. And from there it is a 15 minute walk.

Wonderfull eating experience with friends. It'll cost you but you will enjoy this. We had the'full mounty', wine everything. Be sure not to drive after dining.

We have been visiting this little pearl in De Jordaan very irregularly for over 20 years. The current owners and staff deserve every credit for having managed to maintain the atmosphere, quality of what is offered and the very good price-quality ratio and it is always a pleasure to spend an evening here. Last night we enjoyed a beautiful 5-course gastronomic menu with matching wines with friends. We ate scallop and scampi in an excellent lobster sauce, turbot fillet in tarragon sauce and fillet steak with a delicious forest mushroom sauce. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service attentive and breath-taking. In short, one of the better places in Amsterdam.

It was tasty but not very special. The food lacked some salt and was not very exciting in terms of preparation. The interior is of the type that time has stood still and the operation is just good, but takes a bit of getting used to. Nice to have eaten once.

Chef George here in Amsterdam is a master host and cook! If you are lucky enough to grab a table in this intimate, excellent venue then enjoy the gastronomic delights. He even made me a white chocolate mousse - a delight.

Een heel romantische plaats, je waant je op de best mogelijke manier terug in de tijd. Heerlijke plek in het centrum en prijs-kwaliteit best oké. Probeer zeker de peer met crème anglaise als nagerecht.

En søt og sjarmerende liten fransk restaurant med hyggelig atmosfære. Dessverre ble ikke opplevelsen slik vi hadde håpet. En rar, stresset og vimsete kelner tar oss imot. Han glemmer å spørre hva vil vil drikke til maten og er ikke oppmerksom på våre behov. Det som skuffer mest er allikevel maten. Andepateen smaker grusomt og andefileten er som en skosåle. Biffen er god, men sausen helt uten smak. Pannekaken er seig og uappetittlig. Jeg ser nå at den frekke eieren av restauranten har kommet med et svar på min anmeldelse. Til det vil jeg svare at jeg aldri har stjålet noe. Vi ble heller ikke bedt om å gå. Vi var bare en liten gruppe mennesker som er vant til å spise på restaurant, men dette var en skuffende opplevelse for oss.

Al jaren ons favoriet! Bij Henk en Rob is het elke keer weer een warm bad en voor ons zo langzamerhand thuiskomen! Heerlijke gerechten en prachtige wijnen die met veel zorg en kunde worden uitgezocht bij elk gerecht! Een aanrader voor elk die van goed en smakelijk eten houdt met een goed glas wijn!

Zeer leuke en gemoedelijke sfeer, knus restaurant en perfecte vriendelijke/markante bediening. Geen gehaast, hele avond tafel voor je gereserveerd! Eten was zalig, met name heerlijke sauzen en goede wijnen. Aanrader!

The food was amazing, the location and restaurant have a very pleasant atmosphere. The cater and his attitude, as a woman, was one of the worst ones I have ever experienced. Starting with assuming the one who ordered the table is a male, through teasing us throughout the whole meal, with “teaching” me that not ordering 3 courses meal is rude (we were a table of 4, all is us ordered 3 and 4 course meal, only me orders only one). Will not go there again, though the food was great and very classic and tasty.

Qua eten ga je terug in de tijd, geen liflafjes maar Bourgondisch met een hoofdletter. Waterzooi, Tournedos Rossini, romige sauzen, goede porties.

Wij waren er gisteren met z'n tween en waren zo enthosiast dat we dit graag in een goede recencie wilden delen met iedereen, die op zoek is naar een heel bijzonder plekje in Amsterdam en een onvergeetlijke avond... Het restaurant is prachtig en ontzettend knus ingericht. De tafels waren met veel aandacht ingedekt en de sfeer was heel ontspannen. Er zijn maar wenig tafels, verdeelt over twee verdiepingen. Dit betekend, dat je voldoende privacy hebt tijdens het diner maar ook dat het een aanrader is om vooraf te reservieren!!! De service was geweldig. De ober is heel attent, bemoeid, heeft een goede wijnkennis en je kunt daadwerkelijk zien, dat hij deze baan met heel veel passie uitoefent. Het eten was een droom. We hebben werkelijk maar heel zelden zo goed gegeten. Elke gang van het menu was bijzonder en alles was perfect op elkaar afgestemd. De porties waren meer dan voldoende wat de hoeveelheid betreft. De gerechten werden daarnaast met veel aandacht aangericht op het bord. Tussen de gangen zat voldoende tijd om de smaakbeleving na te kunnen genieten. We hebben van begin tot einde ontzettend genoeten. Al met al is dit een echte geheimtipp en het zal voor ons een onvergetelijke avond blijven....
