Bab Tuma in Rotterdam Centrum

We were here on a Monday in September at 5:00 PM. The "terrace" is a nice spot, a bit away from the hustle and bustle. Simple street food atmosphere, fitting the surroundings. The two pide (tuna and veggie) were good and more than enough for us. The service was okay, neither friendly nor unfriendly. There were no napkins provided, but you could get some.

Poor service and absolutely no communication. For 2 wraps and a can of soda, we expected something like €20+, but ultimately €40 was debited. We have emailed about this multiple times but have received no response whatsoever. Furthermore, the phone number listed is incorrect and belongs to the previous owner. Mistakes can happen, but the fact that you are subsequently unreachable and do not respond to anything is truly disappointing.

Food is average. Service in the top bar needs to improve a lot.

We order Kofta as it was on the photos of the menu ,and they bring us 4 little pieces of ready meat hamburgers .and these for 29 Euros!!!!!😡😡😡 Readiciloys ,they are cheating the clients😡😡 Be careful people what is in the photos in menu and what in reality the will serve you and they will charge you .......

The shrimp wrap was okay, although it had a bit too much sauce. And for something that drips so much, perhaps more than just one small paper napkin would have been helpful?

I ordered a chicken burrito, it was inedible, absolutely terrible. The fries and chicken were a disaster. However, the terrace is nice.

The pide was ok, nothing special. But check what they are charging your card. My statement didn’t match their pricing. You’ll also be asked 20 times if you want a drink.

At the shop located in Markthal, we opted for cheese pide and tea. It was delicious, a warm and thin pide. Well done!

The food was delicious and of high quality. There were plenty of options. We ordered both red meat and fish dishes. The staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful. The meals were filling and plentiful. I definitely recommend it; we enjoyed it very much.

I had ordered a chicken wrap to take away. After a long wait, I finally received my order. Once home, I discovered to my surprise that I had received a shrimp wrap instead of chicken. I find this very unacceptable, as I am allergic to shrimp. Fortunately, I noticed it in time, but this could have had serious consequences. For €10, I expect an order to be prepared correctly. A very disappointing experience.

This plate is 10 euro, imagine that there were two more pieces of this meat balls 😂

The fish was very tasty...service good.

We ordered Burittos and got something completly different. We also asked if it is the right thing because the pictures show a burrito as it should be the staff said it is the same and didnt want to help us. A wrap with meat and fries without any sauce or anything else is in no world a burrito and we saw many customers who where scammed by them those day.

Pide could be improved, it is more dry than the original pides. For a pide that is that size and very thin the 15 euros price is very expensive. The staff is super nice and friendly.

The sandwiches contain very little meat; Turks are not like that, they are generous, it's very disappointing.

We ordered a lamb wrap with (pieces of grilled meat), but they served us a kebab wrap that was 80% salad and filled with greasy sauce. After complaining to them, they told us that the meat is expensive, which is why they changed it. So they replaced the meat but kept the same price! They said they would replace it with a chicken wrap, but after waiting for a long time, we found out they were not replacing anything. The chicken burritos had mostly fries and some chiken, with no rice and no vegetables. Not recommended at all. Eat somewhere that is worth your money!

Very tasty minced meat pide! I’ve gotten it here more than 5 times already. The meat is well seasoned and the dough is delicious. It’s nice that the pide is cut into pieces for you. The service is great and the food arrived quickly. The atmosphere from the rooftop in the Markthal is very cozy.

A food stall-style place located in Markthall... I ordered based on the pictures. But what arrived was nothing like what was shown. Something completely different came. It only contained potatoes, corn, and a tiny bit of meat... I didn't like it.

Our little one had a sore throat, so we were looking for soup. When we arrived here, they immediately helped us and didn't even charge us because it was for a child. Thank you ⭐️

We ate there as a couple, the staff were very friendly and immediately told us we could also sit upstairs and order. We did so, and the food was plentiful and delicious, perfectly fair for the price.

The flatbreads were delicious. The staff were very kind. I definitely recommend trying them if you come to Markthal.

A tasty chicken wrap for under 9€, but the meat was quite dry, and there was too much lettuce. The sauce was okay. The service was quite friendly. It's nice that you can sit upstairs, so the atmosphere is relaxed, but quite loud.

Disappointed, the pide was disastrous. Half the table was served, and the other half only received their food after 20 minutes. Not worth the price at all.

As if they have run out of sausages and the price for this is €12.95.

I never expected how delicious a chicken and lamb wrap could be. I'm not usually a fan of wraps, but this restaurant convinced me! The lamb was beautifully cooked with a delicious flavor on your tongue! I will definitely eat here often!

I had a delicious meal today at 3:30 pm and it was fantastic, the potatoes were crispy and they took very good care of us and fulfilled all our requests.

Fast food establishment located within the famous MARKTAL. Takeaway or eat in on the outside or the terrace above. Appetite quickly arises in this covered food market as you browse the displays, and we were tempted to try two pides and a falafel wrap, which were enough to keep us going until evening! Quick and efficient service.

I rarely comment on restaurants but this one was so atrocious in taste that I had to. I got a classic pide and the taste was abhorrently distasteful. The meat smelled old and the dough was not properly cooked. I am truly disappointed and I wanted to stop eating after the literal first bite when the bitter realization of the (bad) taste. I can’t comment on their other options but I can’t recommend anyone this awful pide.

Superb pides, durum, etc. The staff were stressed and irritated despite it not being very busy. They could have been a bit friendlier. The food was incredibly delicious... highly recommended... 👍👌🏼👏

The food was truly awful... with the first two bites, you think, "Okay, this is doable," but with each bite, it gets worse and you even start feeling nauseous. I even got food poisoning after eating it... If you want food poisoning and your taste buds are going to engage in a salty war, this is the place to be!

Really lovely lunch, hardly any wait for freshly cooked food. There is so much choice in this location but can highly recommend Bab Tuma. We sat upstairs in a quiet corner with spectacular views of the Market hall ceiling.

I only ordered the Classic Pide here. The experience wasn't anything too exceptional and so was the food. Still the food was good and I did enjoy eating it.

The food was truly awful. My kofte roll had more lettuce than meat in it, and it was very thin. My wife's traditional pizza was absolutely inedible; we both left more than half of it. Severe stomach cramps on the way back. The staff were incredibly dramatic; they asked for sauce, which was already in use. When I told them it was bad, they didn't do anything. I advise everyone not to eat there.

Pide with chicken looks tasty and fresh at first glance, but the chicken is definitely not fresh and tastes sour... a shame, because it cost us €12...

I had dinner last Saturday. The food was quite good. However, during payment, an error was made while entering the amount on the payment terminal. Two numbers were reversed, resulting in a €9 overpayment. This increased my total bill by 75%. The staff member didn't show me the amount to be debited, and I'm too trusting. I tried to resolve this with them without disclosing it publicly. The phone number I could find online is no longer working, the website is down, and no one responds to my email. Such a shame. They won't be seeing me again.

Unfortunately my experience at Bab Tuma was very disappointing. The service was not professional and one of the employees (I don't know exactly what his background was) came across as very unfriendly, and he doesn't speak Dutch he starts talking English to us. which negatively affected the whole experience. Our order was incomplete: no napkins, no cutlery, and although we clearly asked for a take-away, it was first served wrong. When we finally got it, the food was cold - and that while we were still on location. I advise the management to take a good look at the selection and training of staff, because this way of working does not fit the image of the restaurant and certainly does not invite us to repeat.

Markthal is one of the most iconic places in Rotterdam. I went there with my kids and had some food in this restaurant. I ordered Falafal wrap, Lams wrap and a sucuk pide. But I found a plastic in the wrap. I got very disappointed. But the lady server maybe from Pakistan acheived my heart. She apologies every single time though it was not her fault. She gave chocolates to my kids also. She cut the bill of the wraps also. Service is very good here but not the food.

He comido en Bab Tuma en Markthal unas cuatro veces antes, siempre en la zona de la azotea. Suelo optar por la comida árabe, que siempre ha sido buena y sabrosa. Esta vez, fui con mi madre, y ella estaba ansiosa por kibbeling, así que decidimos probar eso. Desafortunadamente, ni siquiera recibimos nuestra comida antes de que un miembro del personal nos dijera que teníamos que pagar inmediatamente. Le expliqué que siempre he pagado después de comer, pero él insistió en que desde hace dos meses, si comes abajo, debes pagar por adelantado. Lo que realmente me molestó es que vi a otros clientes sentados y atendidos sin que se les pidiera pagar primero. Esto se siente sumamente injusto y honestamente discriminatorio. Me arruinó completamente el día. Para empeorar las cosas, cuando finalmente recibimos la comida, fue una gran decepción: una pequeña porción por el precio, kibbeling insípido y demasiado grasoso. ¡Muy decepcionado!

Deplorable!!! Asking you for ketchup, they force you to give you another sauce. The meat is cold, the cheese too, and they refuse to heat it up for you. Run away!!!

Sausage pita has no sausage on it

The food was bad. The waitress was very unwelcome. Avoid this place.

Food is good. Prices are above average, a large beer and two kibbles are 50 euros. It is a touristic area, it does not exceed 30 euros in normal places. It is a nice business but the boss should pay attention to the employees upstairs, may the efforts not be wasted.

The food was mediocre at best, and the service was horrible. Skip this place.

Terrible experience. The servers ignored me, prioritizing customers who came after me. After waiting around 10 minutes, they finally acknowledged me and claimed my food was "being prepared now." When I asked for a refund, they refused. Instead, they grabbed an old wrap from the toaster and said, "Oh, here's your order," clearly giving me something that had been reheated multiple times. I felt pressured to take it, but the food was not what I ordered (I ordered burrito chicken), tasted awful, and was clearly stale. Overall, a horrible experience unprofessional service and low-quality food. Would not recommend.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Super bad service that doesn't welcome you, doesn't look at you and you have to ask 10 times if they want to take your order. They really work with great reluctance. The pide lamb is really nasty with pieces of meat that taste like turkey and are very tough. The lamb burrito has a really bad aftertaste and the fries in the burrito were not even cooked. A big 0 for this tent!

I went to the basic and simple dishes if someone can perfect the simple dishes can create unique test. I liked the kofta it was good crispy out red inside. But only issue I found was it was a little dry. Pide was good. There is a great room and chance to improve and grow.

The cook was hella high coudn't even get 3 burritos right. Portion where smaller than a basic Kebab/Gyro prices where twice as expensiv.

Terrible experience! Girl who works in bar and takes order upstairs is very unfriendly and didn’t even greet us with simple “hello”. A lot of tables were not clean and she was just standing doing nothing at the bar. Food is not good, not tasty at all. We regret to come in this restaurant and for sure never will be back. And highly NOT recommend to anyone. 1/10!!!!

Seating was limited and cramped. We first wanted to eat on the terrace but were not served after indicating several times that we wanted to order. Ultimately, we wanted to order a kibbeling sandwich at the counter downstairs, after which the employee wanted to heat up a cold sandwich in the microwave with sauce, salad and all. Nasty and unsafe. We will never return here again.

Super lekker gegeten, ongelofelijk dat ik dit na al die tijd nu pas ontdek. Barita en Künefe als dessert, dat spul wat ook in de befaamde Dubai reep zit, maar dan veel lekkerder en goedkoper.

Lovely place inside the Markthal

The situation is being exploited mercilessly. By far the worst food we have eaten in recent years. ^^Wrap^^ filled with 90% old lettuce, plus 2 pieces of small kofta for €9. Impudence, there's no other way to describe it.

This shop seems to have two businesses sharing the same front, with very different qualities of service. The tagine and wrap side is friendly and prompt; the young man running the pide side notably rude and dismissive. He scolded me when I tried to pick up the order on “his” side, then CLOSED the shared, seated dining section when I tried to enjoy my wrap there. He chased me off to a narrow, back counter with two old metal stools. I decided to eat outside in the plaza, where it was cold but much more welcoming than that arrogant shunting of a mild-mannered, paying customer. Stay away from this place if you're an Asian woman. This entitled, unprofessional young man seems to have a problem with customers who look like us. it's a pity. The food and attitudes were much better on my previous visit, when other people were running the place. The lamb wrap would have been tastier if they hadn't used a sweet and sour sauce on it. It tasted prepackaged and odd. I expected different flavors.

We decided to give this restaurant a try, but unfortunately, the woman at the bar seemed quite unfriendly. She showed no interest in cleaning the tables or assisting us with seating. After a considerable wait, a man finally approached us to take our order. When the order eventually arrived, the same woman displayed the same unfriendly attitude. As we were in the process of cleaning our table ourselves , she carelessly placed our drinks on it. I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment, as even the food does not resemble the appetizing photos in the menu. 👎🏻

To eat: 1x wrap with chicken + portion of fries *requested to make sure that the chicken is properly fried because the woman is pregnant! Several pieces not baked through. *The wrap is delivered 15 minutes before the fries so cannot be eaten together. According to the waitress, this is not possible together? Nor is a wrap with fries possible. Then you just have to grab the burito. 1x pide with lamb *pide itself is okay and nothing really to complain about. *lamb is not okay, does not look like proper lamb and taste is not okay. So I didn't eat this one either. Too bad, but unfortunately this moment is not worth the money. And next time we'll go somewhere else. Try to bring the food together and not piece by piece Important: Do something about the service and this will also improve the food a bit. No welcome feeling at all upstairs. And there is no point in talking to the lady about this!

Great for a small bite. Cozy seat in the middle of the market hall. We had wraps with chicken and lamb. The wraps were a nice large size, fresh, the same applies to the raw vegetables, although the meat was a bit bland. Price fine.

I could only give 0 stars, the food is really bad, the staff is very slow and the food is really that bad. I came here every year on my birthday, but now I think it's really bad in terms of service and food and will never come again, it's super expensive, had pides apparently you pay more even though you get a product that is not exactly as you ordered pide with egg costs about 13.50, I received without and had to pay 2.50 extra instead of 11 euros, really unbelievable.

AVOID THIS PLACE! There are better places to eat at the hall. There’s a lady there that looks like she doesn’t want to help you. No “thank you” for ordering and not having a bag for my to-go order is a pain. Food is meh.
