We arrived late in the evening but they still welcomed us, which was very kind. We had two set menus with rice, salad, and miso soup — all super tasty. Service was quick and friendly. The outside seating is way cozier than the inside, so definitely sit there if the weather’s nice. Great food, great vibe — will be back.

Used to be our go to Japanese place. However clear drop in quality. Mondays they run out of ingredients but do not warn you before ordering. Ordered sashimi set salmon tuna. I got salmon and squid(?). Apparently ran out of tuna but I didn’t get told beforehand and still paid for tuna price. I also dont like squid so I didnt even get to enjoy my food. I got the baked daifuku and strawberry daifuku. First one wasn’t baked It was still cold even… very different from the first time I had it. The strawberry daifuku is supposed to have namachoco. Again ran out of namachoco, did not tell us, and we got cheap dry caramel from a package instead… again you’re paying premium but get leftovers without being informed beforehand. We kindly told the blonde waitress it would be good to tell clients beforehand if certain elements are missing and are replaced with smth else, but we met with an uninterested yes yes whilst half walking away. I get it though, probably doesn’t get paid enough to inform guests about missing ingredients 😅 The daifuku itself and the oyakodon that we got were too nice! But overall disappointing, dont recommend going on mondays- just wait for after delivery day like Thursday or smth. I wont be back any time soon 🙂 I didnt take a digital picture of the sashimi set but you can clearly see salmon and the other side the white squid.. This used to be my favorite Japanese restaurant, but the quality has clearly declined recently. On Mondays, they often run out of ingredients, but they don't tell you before you order. I ordered a sashimi set (salmon and tuna), but what came out was salmon and squid (?). Apparently they ran out of tuna, but they didn't let me know in advance and it was still the same price as tuna. I don't like squid, so I couldn't enjoy my meal. We also ordered Baked Daifuku and Strawberry Daifuku, but they were not as tasty as the last time we had them. The Baked Daifuku was undercooked and cold inside... totally different from the first time we had it. The Strawberry Daifuku is supposed to have fresh chocolate in it, but again, it seemed they were out of fresh chocolate, and instead it was just a cheap dry caramel that felt like it was taken out of a bag. Again, they didn't let us know in advance, and we felt like we were given leftovers, even though we paid a premium price. We kindly told the waitress, "It would be nice if you could let us know in advance that there will be a substitute if there are no ingredients," but she replied, "Yes, yes," half walking away, uninterested. Well, maybe the staff aren't told to explain that much either, and maybe they don't get paid enough😅

Extremely bad toilets there's 0 room between the door and the toilet so its impossible to sit on it

One of my new favorite restaurants! I've been twice so far. It's a truly wonderful place. Super delicious authentic Japanese food, great service, and fair prices. When the weather's nice, you can sit in the garden. I'll definitely be back many more times!

Super authentic Japanese restaurant! Ordered una don, guilty don, salmon roll, matcha latte and yuzu soda. The unagi is so good! I found only one small bone left in the eel but it is all good. Salmon roll is super good and freshly made. Would come back!

Solid little restaurant with a great menu. The crispy tempura is spot on! Attentive service and the atmosphere is very pleasant, there's even a little garden to sit outside when the weather is good.

Unfortunately very overpriced in my opinion. Expensive menu for what it is. We tried sushi in the past which also wasn’t as good for the price that it is. Katsu chicken is very good and juicy, the salad that comes with it is so tiny, one half of tomato and some lettuce. I think for the price that you pay the restaurant could invest in better “side dishes” than one half of cherry tomato and some lettuce. The dessert was very very sweet and the Taiyaki way too deep fried, the tale of the fish was very hard. Staff is very friendly and nice outside area. In general nice cozy place, just not so sure about price = quantity

Real Japanese restaurant with honest home cooking dishes. Super friendly staff and great garden!

For starters we had the chicken gyozas and the fried crab/crab tempura? (forgot the name and it's not on the menu online). The gyozas tasted fresh and the fried crab was really delicious. For main course I had the Pork Katsu Curry and my hairdresser the Una Don. I certainly liked the pork Katsu Curry, but not super special. I tried a small piece of the Una Don and I really liked it. Focusing on the food was a bit difficult because Yunobo was mainly busy talking. The service was otherwise very good. So, Yunobo definitely enjoyed it and recommends this restaurant.

The food and staff are wonderful, and the fish is always extremely fresh. Come here for authentic Japanese food and be sure to try some of the specials. I come here a lot, and it is great every time!

What a discovery! 🍣✨ We really enjoyed ourselves at BABAQUE. The food was great – everything we ordered was delicious and super fresh. You can tell that they cook authentic Japanese food here. The menu is nicely extensive, so there is something for everyone. From small snacks to extensive menus, you can make it as crazy as you want. The prices vary from about €18 to €40, depending on your choice, but the quality is definitely worth it! 💸🍱 What is extra nice: we used to drive to Düsseldorf especially for good Japanese food, but that is no longer necessary. We have finally found a favorite closer to home! 🥢🇯🇵 In short: BABAQUE is highly recommended for anyone who loves Japanese food. We will definitely be back! 😍👏

Ordered food today via Thuisbezorgd. After 90 minutes of no contact I called. Got an extremely unfriendly lady on the phone who only indicated that there were no drivers and not their problem. Then picked it up and again no apologies or any form of communication. Think this restaurant has a short life with this kind of service. Many good Japanese restaurants in The Hague I would quickly skip this one

We found out this tiny Japanese restaurant recently and we are very happy to come back every time we need a comfy place where to eat. The food is typically Japanese and we are always amazed by the good quality and care put in these simple dishes. A corner of Japan in Den Haag 💕

You open the door and the atmosphere and the smells already transport you to Japan. The 2 hours on the way to The Hague were worth it. The food is delicious and you can tell in both presentation and flavors that it is an authentic Japanese restaurant. A very positive point is that there are also vegetarian variants. The staff is very friendly.

We love coming here! This is already the sixth time we have eaten here and it remains fantastic. The staff is super friendly and the food is authentic and super fresh. We have tried many dishes and have not been disappointed once. I'm already looking forward to the next time!

It was quite busy so there was a small wait but everything was very tasty 💗 The ingredients and flavours are very familiar and similar to what you would have in Japan. Many nice things on the menu so I need to come back try other things ☺️

What an amazing Japanese restaurant! I went there for a birthday lunch and we loved everything about Babaque. The food was super fresh, delicious, and nicely served. The waitresses were all kind to ask and they answered to all of our questions. We also had a glass of sake served the izakaya way, just loek in Japan! I was also positively surprised about the fact that everybody working there spoke Japanese. The food fell really authentic. I definitely want to go there again to try the rest of the menu!

A small, authentic Japanese restaurant with dishes very different from what you'd find in your average Japanese restaurant. It was wonderful to experience and see. The flavors and textures sometimes took some getting used to, but they were all delicious. We'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. For our appetizers, we had the octopus balls and shrimp tempura roll. For our main course, we had the chef's special set (rice bowl with sashimi, miso, and a small salad). My boyfriend had the Tonkatsu set with miso soup and a small salad. The miso soup was heavenly, by the way! The tonkatsu was deliciously crispy. For drinks, we had a carafe of hot sake and Japanese beer.

The Katzsu Don was delicious, as were the spicy tuna roll and salmon sashimi. My table had a payment issue, but it was resolved. I would definitely return!

My favourite Japanese place in The Hague. Very sweet owners, lovely menu and good pricing. It’s rare to find this type of restaurant that serves home cooked style Japanese food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Babaque Restaurant in The Hague, and I can confidently say it was an experience to remember. The ambience was absolutely nostalgic, with a cozy and warm atmosphere that felt like a welcome escape from the busy city. It's the perfect spot for a chill and relaxing meal with friends or family. It also reminds me of the small hidden gems I found in the midst of Osaka They have a range of Japanese food that I really wanted to try, but I decided to go for the Tonkatsu. It was perfectly crispy on the outside, yet tender and flavourful with every bite. The balance of textures and taste was simply delicious and showcased their attention to detail in crafting authentic dishes. To top it all off, I ended the meal with their delightful matcha tiramisu, which was a creative fusion of creamy goodness and subtle matcha flavour—a dessert that’s both refreshing and satisfying. Babaque Restaurant truly knows how to deliver a memorable lunch experience, and I can’t wait to return to try more of their menu. Highly recommended!

If you want to eat a delicious eel or tonkatsu this place will amaze you. Try the octopus as starter and you wont believe how home made they taste. To repeat soon!

The sashimi was very fresh, unfortunately the taste of all dishes was very disappointing, for example the karaage was tasteless, it seemed as if the chicken had simply been cut and thrown directly into the fryer without any batter or herbs. It looked like that too. The tuna don was very fresh, but the entire meal had no taste. Der service was also very slow. We waited almost 1 hour for our food. I don't understand all the 5 star reviews.

Charming family-run restaurant serving everyday Japanese household staples. Don’t expect extravagance, but they know what they are doing. They even have delightful mochi okonomiyaki on the seasonal menu sometimes.

Love this place. Order delivery from here every month, we love chicken katsu curry they make, and their desserts are amazing! Okonomiyaki is something I’d order when visiting the restaurant as it’s better to be eaten when still hot.

We ordered the unagi don and the gyu don set menu that comes with salad and miso soup, and the iced Japanese green tea. The unagi is very delicious, while the meat in the gyu don was alright. It was a bit dry than other gyu don that I’m used to. The salad, miso, and tea was underwhelming. However, the ambience of the restaurant is very relaxing and serene, and the staff are kind. Unfortunately, the kaisen don wasn’t available when we visited. I will go back here again to try it.

I keep on returning back here, I think this is the fourth time?. Kinda sad that it's been twice that the Norikara is not in stock :") but then I got to try their very fresh sashimi set!!. Of course also a mandatory chicken gyoza. Then I bought the karaage to go, and one of the girl staff drew a cute cat 🥰. Will always go back there. Nice people, good food, nice ambience. Always comfortable and breezy in the garden even on hot days!.

It was so delicious that it brought tears to my eyes! I loved the chewy texture of the udon noodles, and the soup was delicious. The pork cutlet was crispy and soft, and even the sauce was perfect. I wanted to tell the chef everything, but unfortunately I couldn't communicate with the hall staff at the restaurant, so I didn't.

Authentic food and very cosy location, all for a reasonable price. Best Japanese restaurant I tried in Den Haag so far. Will go back to try other dishes. Highly recommended!

Good/ok Japanese dishes. I had the karaage, I like it more with chicken thigh meat than chicken breast part (that’s what we got here) and the coating wasn’t covering everything, so it was a bit dry, bland and oily. The tuna sashimi don was nice, with plenty of rice. For Japanese comfort food in Den Haag I would recommend this place.

As opposed to many other (so-called) Japanese restaurants in the The Hague area, this one is really run by a Japanese couple and a very active and well versed Philippina assistant who speaks (albeit, the American version of) English fluently. Furthermore, if the weather permits, they have a nice deep terrace in the back to enjoy your lunch or dinner in. They dó have a little garden gnome out there... I would suggest they could consider removing this, as it takes away the (albeit slightl) Japanese atmosphere. I ordered a takeaway for two people, which in the eyes of the hostess, in her honest and polite Japanese way, let me know that it was possibly a bit too large of an order. An appreciated nice touch! I ordered sashimi and tempura as main dishes, and they were very much enjoyed. Babaque seens certainly tk be a pleasant place to pay a visit to and enjoy real authentic Japanese food.

The beef in noodle soup taste strong - I would marinate them in sake for 5 minutes prior. The octopus was fresh only a 3 or 4 bits in a sauce dish.

Ordered from here twice, got disappointed but will keep trying to find something good cos the ichigo daifuku was super good!! I ordered tempura udon… the broth was super salty and almost also tasteless… the ebi tempura also a wee bit of a disappointment… 😭😭😭 and gyudon the rice was sooooo soaky but the beef was good. I’d say it’s inconsistent but could be a bad batch and bad timing for me. BUT THE DESSERT ARE TOP TIER in my humble opinion.

Today we had dinner at BabaQue. The dishes are diverse and excellent. The small restaurant is a special place where passion for Japanese cuisine and small scale come together to create a unique experience. We enjoyed the sake and the hostess is very nice. Recommended!

The Food is really not good. Very basic 'cooking', ramen broth was water with powder.

A hidden gem serving authentic Japanese food. It serves various kinds of dishes, from small appetizers, curry rice, udon, and rice bowl. We really like the takoyaki and the bowl of warm oden was perfect for the cold winter. The portion was quite generous, kaizen don had a decent selection of fresh seafood, but the tempura was a bit soggy. Service was also quite good. Overall, we will come back again to try more items on their menu.

A lovely place to have some tasty Japanese comfort food. Service is friendly and fast, considering there was only one waitress. Only regret was not being able to try more items from the menu, but we’ll be back for more!

Friendly staff and chef. Good place with spacious seats, interior seemed homely and funny. The ramen buillon food could have had more flavor, but the spiciness was good enough, the pork don was tasty enough meat and rice together with miso soup and small salad and sidedish octopus okonomiyaki was tasty and the yuzu tea and soda drink that we ordered was also tasty. Nice place to have lunch! Please note that paid parking in the streets is €2.50 per hour.

Tienen una terraza en el patio trasero muy acogedora, por la noche tienen luces muy lindas. Muy buen servicio, pedi sushi de salmon picante (6 piezas) y una cerveza kirin ichiban, mi amiga un curry de pollo. Ambas cosas nos gustaron mucho. Lo mejor fue el postre deluxe de helado de matcha, con un pez relleno de frijol y algo parecido a mochi cubierto con semillas de ajonjoli

A cozy restaurant run by an older Japanese couple who are very friendly! The food was delicious albeit a bit pricey, but I guess it is reasonable for the authenticity and portion sizes. There is a nice terrace in the back with seating, perfect for sunnier and warmer days.

Babaque is an awesome Japanese gem you just can’t miss! The place is so cozy and intimate, unpretentious - perfect for a chill night out. And let me tell you, their food is mind-blowing! The ingredients are always fresh and cooked with attention. There is something for everyone in the menu, but make sure you try their tuna in any shape or form.

One of the best Unagi don I have ever tasted. Would definitely come back for this. The udon was really good, especially the beef udon soup. A bit was the sushi, it was ok, but that’s it. Only minus one star is because the Okonomiyaki doesn’t look or taste like the ones in Japan. The wheat flour batter doesn’t taste so good. The pancake consist mainly batter and lacking ingredients inside, like cabbage and other ingredients. So that was a let down. I can understand it is hard to have the samen quality like in Japan. But I have taste Okonomiyaki before in other countries than Japan, like United Kingdom and Germany. Both did a good job, especially the ones in London. But other than that it is worth visiting or ordering this place.

This is a nice authentic Japanese style restaurant. The food was great and the service was polite and helpful. I loved the dessert, though they didn’t have the matcha tiramisu anymore for the evening. I would have to visit again just for that!
