Last January, my friend and I had the pleasure of dining at Kyatcha in The Hague; a refined Japanese restaurant that beautifully blends authentic Japanese cuisine with creative Western influences and modern culinary techniques. From the very beginning, the experience felt thoughtfully curated. The menu offers an impressive variety of dishes, ranging from elegant small starters to premium sushi creations. We started with oysters, wagyu gyoza, and the crispy rice tuna tartare, which was undoubtedly our favourite. The balance of textures and flavours in that dish alone perfectly reflected the restaurant’s attention to detail and creativity. For the main course, we enjoyed a selection of premium sushi and sashimi. Each piece had its own distinct character, made even more memorable by the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Kyatcha also offers an extensive selection of grilled dishes and vegetarian options, which we are definitely looking forward to trying during a future visit. What makes Kyatcha even more interesting is the meaning behind its name. The name is a stylized interpretation inspired by the Japanese word “kyatcha,” meaning “catcher.” It symbolizes the restaurant’s commitment to sourcing the freshest ingredients while simultaneously capturing the attention and imagination of its guests. Their visually stunning and artfully presented plates truly bring that philosophy to life, making the name feel perfectly aligned with the overall experience they offer. And lastly, their cocktails are absolutely worth trying as well. Sophisticated, well-balanced, and the perfect complement to the food. I highly recommend this cozy yet elegant restaurant to anyone visiting The Hague and looking for a memorable dining experience.

The atmosphere and interior were okay. The small restaurant is closing and will probably not be renovated for that reason. The service was particularly friendly, helpful, and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. We found the food very disappointing for what we paid. The dishes weren't bad, but for the price we paid, I had expected more. The flavors were unremarkable and the portions were very small. Recommended: Hotate Guratin

Amazing food, however I feel like the portions were quite small. The food is delicious and everything you will eat will feel like a flavor explosion but go with a big pocket. We spend almost 200€ and left hungry to be honest!

Incredible dining experience last night with friends. Outstanding food and a wide variety on offer as well. Great (also non-alcoholic) cocktail selection available and very attentive - but not overdone - service. Beautifully decorated restaurant with private feeling booths in the back. Authentic Japanese restaurant with very good sushi! Try the sashimi platter and the wagyu and salmon sushi! A second review from this very nice Japanese restaurant! 1. ⁠Hotate truffle (scallops - fusion recipe, very tasty with amazing black truffle) 2. Sake aburi (salmon nigiri). 3. ⁠Wagyu aburi (Wagyu nigiri that needed extra flambée time which I asked for the second one we ordered) 6. ⁠Nasu dengaku (this is eggplant dish , with an amazing flavour) 7. ⁠shrimp rock tempura (this is sushi, also very tasty) 8. both desserts ( crème brûlée with lemon flavour and amazing lava cake). The service was amazing but the prices were a bit too high for the given portions. We will certainly be back soon!

We had an amazing evening yesterday at Kyatcha, the food was incredibly refined and tasteful, our host Lukas was fantastic and made sure we had the most delicious dishes on the menu. Thank you all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We received a friendly welcome. However, it was very warm inside. Too warm, in fact. We started with crispy rice salmon tartare and Ebis Gyoza for a total of €38. Then we had Hotate Aburi and Wagyu Truffle for a total of €36. I asked my wife if she had seen or tasted the Wagyu. I hadn't seen or tasted it. Then we had the main course, Ramurakku with asparagus, for a total of €49. After that, I still hadn't eaten enough and ordered another main course, Yakiniku, for €47. Then we asked for the bill. The bill included an overpriced wine that we hadn't had. They corrected that. We ended up paying €222. Too much for so little you get.

A very varied and delicious menu, served with a friendly atmosphere. A beautiful restaurant, authentic, and ideal for a pleasant evening. However, you will have to pay, as it is quite pricey despite all the good food.

Made an online reservation for 3 for first Xmassday at 9.15 pm. They called me a few hours before that the kitchen would close at 9:45 pm. Unacceptable. Why close so soon for Xmassdiner? I canceled.

High quality japanese food with a fusion touch. The Wagyu Tartare was so amazing, I dream of it. Very friendly and beautiful staff with big smiles an hearts. I'd love to come back. Expensive, but this you know when you go. I had an explosion of flavours in my mouth. Big recommendation.

Visited Kyatcha Den Haag and really enjoyed the experience overall! The place is super nice and cosy, with a lovely atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the sushi — so fresh and full of flavour 🍣. The starters and side dishes were also really tasty, though the chicken bites were a bit too big for our liking — not exactly “bites” 😅. It is on the pricier side, but honestly, worth it considering the quality and freshness of the ingredients. My only concern was the serving order — dishes came out in quite a random way, mixing mains with starters, sometimes one at a time, then suddenly three at once. The waiting time between plates (and even for drinks) was also a bit long. That said, the staff were very friendly and attentive, checking in on us regularly and making sure we had everything we needed 💛. Overall, a delicious and cosy spot — just hope they improve the service pace!

Superior atmosphere, eith outstanding service, they have a limited amount of tables so the noise is also acceptable. The atmosphere is cosy, warm and elegant. The food is plated in an outstanding fashion, preparee very nicely and seasoned to perfection. The staff is outmost polite and very professional. I would definitely recommend this for a not too expensive fine dining experience.

Had the pleasure to eat at Kyatcha The Hague yesterday for the first time. It was a great experience. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was great and you could really taste that the quality was high and it was freshly prepared. There are also plenty of halal options - this was a big plus for the company I was with. Positive points: Nice decor. The food is good, the oysters and mixed sushi were perfectly seasoned. The price-quality ratio is disappointing, though. Small portions. Another point of concern is the service. It's rushed, and the place is cleared away before you've even finished your last bite. The atmosphere is unfortunately not relaxed. Perhaps because we didn't have a reservation, but still.

Ripoff : Poor welcome, took a while to find our reservation (front of house did not even apologise). Restaurant is cold and drafty. Food full of sauces and readymade fillers. Definitely and not Japanese. only one staff member (Japanese girl) could serve. Otheres (girl nose ring and incompetent asian guy) were too lazy to walk around table so streched across to serve and collect. At the end of the surprise menu we were surprisingly hungry. For 400 euro for 4 one expects more. On reservation mentioned special occasion zero reaction. Oh and seeing the waitress pour back the soy sauce into the bottle was just the last straw. Definitely not stepping back into Kyatcha p.s. been ill overnight.

Had a delicious meal at Kyatcha Den Haag, the staff were friendly and helpful. You get a variety of appetizers on the house with your order, so you're really full by the end. A big thumbs up. Definitely worth doing again!

We arrived and our table wasn't ready yet, no problem. We were told we'd have to wait a little while. After 10 minutes, we asked again, and the table still wasn't ready, so we had to wait a bit longer. Because it was so warm inside, we asked the waiter if we could sit outside, which was no problem. But once we were seated outside, it seemed like they'd forgotten about us. After waiting 20 minutes for someone to come over with the menu and ask if we wanted drinks, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Such a shame!

Service tip top. Décoration of the eating room and cooks in Japanese uniforms great. After ... It is SO expensive for so few... That I am not sure to come back very often.

Kyatcha in The Hague is fantastic! The service is friendly and professional, the food outstanding. The shrimp tempura and oysters were top quality, and the lychee cocktail was delicious. Great value for money. It’s a small place, so booking ahead is highly recommended.

I have been to Kyatcha four times now and the one thing it has never disappointed me is the food. Good quality, great flavours, fresh and balanced (although I wish mayo on sushi would start fading). However, the restaurant could use some attention in terms of ambiance and service. Restaurant starts feeling dated, and it would benefit from dimmer lighting, calmer and lower music, and more minimal decor. Service, although friendly and attentive, could be more professional considering the pricing of the menu. The manager could also be friendlier and keep conversations with other waitresses more private. Shout out to the cooks, who are very friendly and attentive. I really wish Kyatcha would mind details a bit more and revamp the restaurant to truly deliver what they call “highly refined” Japanese cuisine experience.

Ate here the 26th of August with a friend of mine from the Hague. We went to Kyatcha, located in the beautiful Frederik Hendriklaan. We were welcomed warmly by the barman and one of the servers. We ordered the wagyu tartare, salmon tartare with crispy rice, the yakinuki and yaki meshi. The star of the night was definitely the wagyu tartare was plated beautifully and it tasted just as good as it looked. 10/10 for the wagyu tartare. The restaurant has a shared dining concept consisting of small dishes. The dishes are on the pricy side for the serving size. The two female servers that evening provided great service. Thank you so much for this memorable evening. All in all a great experience!

Great service and a fantastic manager. The food is also very good, but I wouldn't recommend the "surprise menu" if you're looking for Japanese food; you're better off ordering à la carte. The menu is very experimental and not for everyone. Otherwise, it's excellent.

This wasn't a traditional omakase experience I was expecting, and I am glad I chose Kyatcha for it nonetheless. The attention to details, the freshness of the food, the masterful performance of the chefs and the staff was immaculate. This is a place to bring someone when you want to leave a lasting impression. Absolutely wonderful experience here, I ordered the Omakase (5 courses selected by the chefs) and absolutely loved it. You can definitely tell a lot of effort & thought went into all the dishes. The staff is also very helpful, friendly and professional. 10/10!

We made a reservation and received multiple confirmations, but they hadn't gotten through. It seems this is because we got a €50 discount. The kitchen closes at 9:30 PM, but we had an 8:00 PM reservation. So, we need to eat quickly.

Okay. It's understandable that everyone in this expat enclave only speaks English. But it's strange that you're already being asked for your order when you're barely seated. The main course follows the appetizer in rapid succession. The dishes are excellent. However, the prices are steep. The cheapest bottle of wine, nothing special, is €39. Lots of attention, little hospitality. But that doesn't seem like an insurmountable problem for an alert restaurateur.

I asked for take away. The web site is very good, with relistic pictures and description of the dishes. Super nice staff when picking up. The food is great, different to almost all the other sushi/Japanese take away options.

Loved the vibe of the restaurant. We were greeted at entrance and seated right away. From start to finish we were well taken care of. The omakase set was quite a journey. Also nice to hear that they switch it up from time to time. We had a great experience. That wasabi ice was amazing.

The location is okay. The service is good. The price is way too high for the quality. You'd expect much more for 100 per person.

After hearing very positive things about Kyatcha from friends, I was excited to visit and try their food but unfortunately left disappointed. The food was okay, but nothing special and it was extremely expensive. When we arrived, we ordered the Crispy Rice Tuna Tartar and Gyozas to have with a cocktail, the Wagu Old Fashioned and Lychee on a Cloud. The Crispy Rice Tuna Tartar was nice (the best thing I ate) and the Gyozas were okay, however, we finished these long before our drinks arrived as they took around half an hour to get to us. The Wagu Old Fashioned just tasted like a glass of Whiskey, not at all what I was expecting from the menu description and is in no way worth the 19 euros that it cost. The Lychee on a Cloud, on the other hand, was very nice. For our main set of sushi we started with Toro Tuna Sashimi, which is meant to be fatty and luxurious, but was just three pieces of normal thickly cut Tuna (this was extremely disappointing, as Toro is one of my favourite things). We also had Hamachi Triadito Shashimi, which was good with the interesting combination of other ingredients. For our main set of sushi we had the flambéed Salmon Nigiri which were the smallest Nigiri I've ever had, the King Oyster Mushroom Roll (which was my partners favourite), the Tempura Scallops and Spicy Tuna both of which were fine. We ordered the least expensive bottle of Sake, which was okay but I was expecting a larger bottle for 33 euro and it was served in wine glasses instead of Sake cups. Finally, we had the Yuzu Creme Brulee with Passion fruit sorbet. This was nice and refreshing, but the Brulee wasn't thick or cooked enough to have the snap you expect. The service overall was quite poor it. I feel like they were one or two staff short for how busy they were. Overall, for the prices Kyatcha are charging everything should be exceptional, however, my experience was average at best. I've been lucky enough to eat at 2 one Michelin starred restaurants this year and both cost less than my meal here, with some of the best things I've ever eaten. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Kyatcha, instead, go to one of many great sushi restaurants in The Hague, spend half as much money and eat just as good food.

We had dinner for two. I noted an allergy when making the reservation, which was communicated to the staff. It wasn't a very busy night. Service felt chaotic — we were asked for drinks and orders before even seeing a menu and had to request one ourselves. One of our first dishes seemed to be forgotten and arrived only after asking for it. The female staff were friendly, especially a new waitress from Japan who was kind and helpful. Unfortunately, several male staff members were loudly joking to each other, sometimes rudely and even about customers. After overhearing a joke about my allergy, I checked in with the staff/kitchen and was told they were just “being stupid.” No apology was offered, and as I walked away, I heard the two of them say to each other “je moet je bek houden” ("shut your face"). This made me feel uncomfortable and unsure whether my allergy was being taken seriously. Later, staff continued making silly voices and comments about guests after they had left. We felt sorry for the ladies and other staff members that didn't participate in this, since the loud ones seemed to have the upper hand. The food was tasty, but the portions were small and very expensive. We paid nearly 200 euro's and were still a bit hungry. For these prices you would expect much more.

We absolutely love coming to Kyatcha The Hague — the vibes are always spot on and the food is consistently amazing! Our go-to starters are the chili garlic oyster, beef tataki, and mixed sashimi — super fresh and full of flavor. For sushi, we always order the spicy tuna and the incredible wagyu beef sushi. When it comes to mains, we’re huge fans of the wagyu ribeye and miso black cod — both are must-tries! Service is truly 100/100, and we want to give a big shoutout to Ndeborah and Evelin for their warm and outstanding hospitality. You two make the experience extra special every time! Highly recommend for anyone who loves great Japanese food with a premium touch. 🌸🍣

Upon entering, I was welcomed by the host, who immediately said after checking my name: “You have until 8:30 PM.” When I indicated that this was correct, he added: “A lot of people overlook it, so that’s why I mentioned it.” I thought that was a somewhat strange way to start the first contact with a guest; it felt quite businesslike and rushed. For a restaurant in this higher segment, where you consciously pay a bit more for the total experience, the atmosphere, the service, the details, you don’t really expect to be tied to a strict time slot. Precisely because so much attention is paid to the service, such as changing plates per course and continuously refilling water, it feels strange that you have to finish everything within 90 minutes. Furthermore, the evening was really great: the atmosphere was pleasant, the service friendly and the food of high quality. Only I noticed that I looked at my phone a few times to check how much time we had left and whether we could order something. That took away a bit of the peace from the experience for me. Hopefully something can be done about that in the future, because otherwise it was really enjoyable!

We really enjoyed the fresh products, the hospitality and the delicious cocktails. The oysters, the gyoza shrimp and the accompanying garnishes were our fave. As a main course we ordered salmon which was cooked perfectly for the price could have had a bit more garnish. For dessert we ordered the crème brulee, very tasty not too sweet only the lemon ice cream was not a good combination. Next time we will try the location in Rotterdam.

This restaurant has been one of my favorite sushi experiences while traveling abroad. The fish was fresh and did not tasty fishy. The staff was friendly, welcoming ans professional. The drinks were also delicious. I think the star of our dinner was the king oyster roll. We had to order it more than once because it was incredibly tasty and rich in flavor. I have never tried a sushi roll with mushroom in it before, so this was a new experience. Do yourself a favor and order it. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're visiting the area and are craving a good sushi.

After a pregnancy I couldn't eat sushi for a long time and I really wanted something tasty. This was fan-tas-tic..!! Unfortunately it wasn't possible to come and eat physically so we had to take away but even that was really an experience. Thank you for the beautiful food there was real love in it. This was our first time next time we will eat in the restaurant :)

The food and service are good overall, but the reason I have given 2 is their attitude towards allergies: 1) They don't have an allergy list. I asked for the gluten-free items on the menu, and they said, "Just tell us what you want to eat, and we will confirm with the kitchen if it can be made gluten-free or not." While many of the dishes could be made GF, it was annoying to have this back and forth with the kitchen. An allergy list is quite standard now, and it would help so many customers! 2) This is a more serious issue - they did not inform me in time that the wasabi they are using in the restaurant contains gluten. It's a shame, because while they were careful about getting me gluten-free soy sauce, they still put the wasabi on our sushi plate, and did not inform me that I should avoid it. In many places, wasabi is gluten-free, so I ate it, and much later, one of the staff members came and told me that this wasabi has gluten. The kitchen staff's reaction here was very arrogant. They did not apologise and implied that I should have known that wasabi contains gluten. I found this quite rude. No remorse on their part, even though I told them that celiac disease is a medical condition. This makes me concerned if they were taking any precautions for preventing contamination or not..

I order a box, it was very tasty. I would love if they have a box with toro and sake hara aburi in it!

Very friendly service and the atmosphere is also nice but it is very expensive. 4 pieces of sushi for €15 is simply out of proportion. It is beautifully served and it is tasty, but the main price is what you pay. The drinks also very pricey. I had a gift card for €100 and had to pay an additional €100 for the total bill. This is for two people and we have kept it very limited. It is not recommended to come here, but keep the high prices in mind.

Ended up here with the new American Express menu. Nice neighborhood, friendly welcome and given a table. Explanation of the menu, the purpose of the restaurant, etc. Nice menu, interesting things. Good food, good whisky, good service. Definitely come back here again.

Plaats tafel slecht uitgelicht. Advies bediende: Gebruik je telefoon maar om de menu kaart te lezen. Bediening spreekt geen Nederlands en de taal (welke?) die ze wel sprak was voor ons niet te verstaan. Hier rekening mee houdend was onze ervaring qua gerechten dusdanig dat we hier zeker terugkomen. Hulde aan de keuken brigade. Mooie verse gerechten. Dus de mindere punten zijn bestemd voor het restaurant maar moet niemand tegenhouden bij Kyatcha te gaan dineren.

Very good meal. The salmon gruyere and the gyu truffle sushi were favorites, but actually everything was fantastic. Only the iberico honey soy was a little less. I will definitely come back here!

We had wanted to eat here for a long time and tonight the time had come. We had a delicious meal. Surprising flavor combinations and food worthy of a Michelin star. And we were amazed at how big the portions were compared to similar restaurants! The slightly more informal atmosphere suits us perfectly and this also ensured that we had a lot of laughs with the staff. See you soon!

What a dinner experience, starting with a Maguro Sashimi, it was delicious, I ordered two rolls, my favorite was the shrimp tempura, highly recommended. Had also a plumb wine, sweet and tasty. Will definitely come back. Thank you for the service and the token of appreciation.

The warm greeting of 2 foreigners to what I would describe as mainly an upper end local restaurant started the night off with a bang. The gentleman that takes care of the customers helped us through the menu, he did not force a thing on us, but did spark our curiosity about the Waygu from their farm in Japan. I have enjoyed American Waygu, but the flavor of their Waygu was a cut above all that I have had in the past. Then there was the magical oysters in a panko like covering. The flavor was spectacular. My wife does not enjoy raw fish, so we defaulted to the cooked eel plus foir gras. Even the wine by the glass was enjoyable.

Had a great meal at Kyatcha! Very high quality, and every dish a fantastic taste experience. The staff is dedicated, with a lot of knowledge of the dishes that are served, and they do their work with great enthusiasm! We really enjoyed the fantastic food and the enormous hospitality of the staff. Every course was a party, and it was great that the staff also took the time to explain what we were eating and they could even explain to us how certain dishes or parts of them were made. This only made the experience better for us. We will definitely come back again!

Wir waren schon recht häufig im Kyatcha in Den Haag und bisher immer sehr zufrieden. Auch wenn das Sushi wirklich sehr lecker ist, nehmen wir doch regelmäßig das Omakase Menü. Auch an diesem Abend haben wir uns für das Menü entschieden. Leider haben uns dieses Mal die meisten Gänge nicht überzeugen können. Was aber deutlich mehr Einfluss auf das Erlebnis hatte, war das Chaos, welches im Service herrschte. Es wurde ein Gang vergessen, leere Gläser weitgehend ignoriert. Es war zwar reichlich Personal im Restaurant aber irgendwie fehlte jegliche Ordnung. Wir hoffen, es war nur ein Ausrutscher.

The service could be better, you end up getting three different waiters/waitresses which gets confusing. The omakase dishes weren't all that great either. Definitely not worth the money. Cocktails are deceiving, they all sound very fancy but in the end it wasn't all that good

Wat heb ik weer lekker gegeten zondag! Alle smaken klopten samen, bediening was ook zeer vriendelijk en professioneel… Ik kom zeer zeker weer terug, dit was mijn 8ste bezoek. Tot snel en ga zo door 👍🏻👍🏻

Op 11 februari een couples box besteld om af te halen. Gelijk dezelfde avond ziek van geworden! Netjes een e-mail gestuurd op 12 februari toen daarom gevraagd werd (en deze herhaalt). Nooit een antwoord ontvangen. Geen aanrader dus. (Een van de) sushi was bedorven.

We were always big fans of the Kyatcha Couple Box and always looked forward to it. When we heard that this was no longer available, we were briefly disappointed. But after our dinner with you we completely understand! What a culinary experience – the flavors were unique and unparalleled. We enjoyed every bite and can say with certainty that we have not tasted this anywhere else. Highly recommended!

Excellent food with surprising mix of flavors and ingredients, a bit pricey, excellent service from the boss. The only suggestion from improvement would be to get the drinks a bit faster.

Kapsones restaurant with bad food and ridiculous service. Never before have I received such an unfriendly welcome and such bad food.

Had a delicious meal in this cozy little Japanese restaurant on Fred. The tables are not too close together, which is a real relief these days. Delicious dishes, wide choice and also a good drinks/concktail menu.

This restaurant plays games with reservations. I booked a month in advance, and they still messed up the date in their confirmation. I had to correct it, then they reconfirmed the day before—only to find they’d changed our seating upon arrival. Despite my email proving we reserved a regular table, they stuck us at the sushi bar and claimed nothing else was available. We walked out and had to find another place for our Valentine’s dinner. Completely unreliable. Avoid.

It was our first time and certainly not the last. The service was excellent. Upon arrival we were asked to wait a little longer until the table was free, but we were immediately offered a drink on the house for the wait. Furthermore, excellent advice was given in pairing our dishes with the right sake. The food was delicious and you didn't have to wait long for it. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant. All in all an excellent evening and definitely worth coming back for.

Very tasty meal again. The service is friendly. Despite the open kitchen, you don't get the feeling that 6 people are walking around there. The only downside is the occasional extraction.

I know this place for years but the quality of the service and taste of the sushi’s are getting worse and worse. Time to find a new sushi place in The Hague.

I love this restaurant, both the ine in the Hague and in Rotterdam. They have great food, fresh ingredients, really tasty and very nice ambiance. I go there whenever I can and it’s definitely recommended if you are a fan of good Japanese food.

Top notch service from Chewie, delicious food and relaxing atmosphere! Absolutely pleased with the experience, will come back again!
