Oni Japanese Dining in Wijk 28 Centrum

We komen er vaker maar vanavond viel het tegen. Meestal is het menu verrassend maar dit keer niet. Ook waren de gerechten niet bijzonder of verfijnd. Jammer.

Oni was altijd de beste Japaner in Den Haag, jarenlang. Vroeger heel vaak bezocht en nooit teleurgesteld. Ik kan niet aangeven wat er is veranderd, wellicht een nieuwe eigenaar, maar de sushi haalt niet het niveau van eerder. Bediening vriendelijk, netjes en behulpzaam. De crunchy sushi niet heel erg crunchy, de sushi erg losjes gerold en sushi met gerookte zalm had het niveau van een verjaardagsfeestje. Ingredienten vers, maar te veel gebruik van Mayonaise. Jammer, keken er naar uit, want lang niet geweest.

Tijdens de restaurantweek kennis gemaakt met Oni. Heerlijk en afwisselend 4 gangen menu met verse ingrediënten. De vriendelijke en attente bediening maakt het tot een fijne ervaring. De houten banken kunnen op verzoek worden voorzien van kussens hetgeen wel fijner zit. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

I ordered an Oni bento box, which had a beef teriyaki, a duck fillet, fried shrimp, salad and sushi, and it came with miso soup. As a Japanese national, I don't expect much from Japanese restaurants in the Netherlands, but I'd say Oni is the place to go for Japanese cuisine. The service was nice and friendly. The only minus point was the seat, which wasn't comfortable.

We hebben de catering voor de 70e verjaardag van mijn vrouw tot onze grote tevredenheid door Oni laten verzorgen. Afspraken maken ging uiterst soepel en op het afgesproken moment kwam er een grote hoeveelheid eten. Keurig verpakt en afgeleverd in handige kratten. Zonder exact te weten wat elk gerecht was (men bood aan om per whatsapp de gerechten toe te lichten) was elk gerecht vers en heerlijk van smaak. Wat een culinaire happening. Ik kan eenieder aanraden om door Oni te catering te laten verzorgen. Ook ter plekke eten is sfeervol en van dezelfde kwaliteit. Hartelijk dank voor jullie bijdrage aan een geslaagde brunch.

Beware! Just ordered tuna nigiri via Uber Eats, and the smell was AWFUL. We were not able even to hold it near the mouth. In the past, we visited ONI and ordered delivery from them many times (often with tuna nigiri and sashimi) and it was ok. Today, the entire box smelled terrible so we were not able to enjoy other nigiri. After we called to ONI, the answer was “tuna is fine on our kitchen, sorry”. This is not how you deal with unsatisfied customer even if you are 100% sure the dish was perfect (which I doubt because I trust my sense of smell). Too bad! Never order from Oni again.

Very tasty, but half of the order had not arrived and after two and a half hours we luckily had enough and delicious food. The waitress said it had happened to her before and that doesn't surprise me with the manual notebook.... Nothing else has changed in twenty years...

Food was really great, great quality, with prices to match, I do miss some seating for the wooden benches, but it is nicely stylized, the yuzu desserts were not there on Christmas Eve, so we went for deep fried ice, this is what we found not tasty and chose another dessert, in the end the lesser dessert was included in the €180 voucher, a small minus for what was otherwise a great experience

Wow what a bad restaurant! On all levels really. The food is ok, nothing special. We are very much used to the higher prices these days but €25.50 for a miniscule piece of codfish, for that price you expect to be able to share it as a bite but it was literally that, one bite. The worst part is the setting and the service. First we had the table right above the kitchen with a strong smell like you are walking by the fish stand on a market. We thought first it's OK, because we are going to eat fish. But it got bad. So we kindly requested and got a table in the front area. These are just hard wooden benches with no cushions. That's really OK, in places with seating like that you don't expect to sit there for 3 hours (!) Unfortunately, the service: it took 50min for our first food to arrive. It wasn't even the sashimi, which is the fastest to prepare. We got that as last. After making a point, they said they only have a single sushi chef today. But then they also had Uber eats drivers coming in. Those were helped first. Eventually they closed Uber Eats.. Why do you even turn it on when you have a full restaurant and miss a chef? The service was like stuck in a bad reality show. Ordered sodas, didn't receive it. This happened multiple times. Always had to follow up. The last time we ordered drinks we had to order them 3 times. The 3rd time the worst waitress said she will take it off the bill. But we were thirsty, we wanted our drinks! They obviously were understaffed, but then why do you accept reservations? And honestly one waitress was simply creating work for the other one. If you want to be entertained at the expense of yourself, go here. Otherwise plenty really plenty of alternatives in the area. I hope the owner goes bankrupt soon so that someone with more common sense can start a nice restaurant here. Mean thing to say yes, but this was just a badly organised, heavily overpriced and just weird setting so many weird things.. oh and they totally ignored our dietary comments in the reservation!

We love the place, but they completely mismanage busy nights. Waiting for our food 1.5 hours, we called to the restaurant and they just started to cook our order. Ruined evening.

To celebrate my daughters birthday we went to Oni’s for dinner. Very modern Japanese dining concept. In some ways still keeping the traditional Japanesestyle and yet a nice twist here in there to keep your eye interested to explore. Good selection of sashimi and different Maki Rolls, the main course menu has good variety too. The desserts though were such a delight and a must try. Plate sizes are good for sharing.

Durante nuestra reciente visita a Den Haag, nos topamos con Oni, ¡y estamos muy contentos de haberlo hecho! Mientras paseábamos por la ciudad, discutimos nuestras opciones de cena, el restaurante llamó nuestra atención por su ambiente acogedor y su enfoque en la cocina asiática. Decidimos ir por la comida de cuatro platos sin hacer demasiadas preguntas, esperando un poco de sushi y tal vez un poco de tempura. Sinceramente, no importaba lo que obtuviéramos; ya estábamos disfrutando de nuestra velada llena de gran conversación. ¡Y luego llegó la comida! Fue absolutamente fantástico! Los tamaños de las porciones eran perfectos, lo justo para saborear cada plato sin sentir prisa. El tiempo de cada curso fue impecable, lo que nos permitió disfrutar plenamente de la experiencia. El personal logró el equilibrio perfecto; estuvieron atentos sin ser intrusos, y la noche fue fantástica. During our recent visit to Den Haag, we stumbled upon Oni, and we’re so glad we did! As we were strolling through the city, discussing our dinner options, the restaurant caught our eye with its inviting atmosphere and focus on Asian cuisine. We decided to go for the four-course meal without asking too many questions, expecting a bit of sushi and maybe some tempura. Honestly, it didn’t matter what we were getting; we were already enjoying our evening filled with great conversation. And then the food arrived! It was absolutely fantastic! The portion sizes were perfect—just enough to savor each dish without feeling rushed. The timing of each course was impeccable, allowing us to fully enjoy the experience. The staff struck the perfect balance; they were attentive without being intrusive, and the evening was fantastic. It was a truly wonderful evening, and we can’t thank the staff enough for making it so special. We highly recommend Oni!

Food is good, but prices are too high and portions too small. The quality + quantity and price ratio is just not right.

Three hours of dining and going home hungry. When we arrived, the reservation had not been received. Instead of the manager coming over to sort it out, our phone disappeared into the kitchen. Oh, happy. Still succeeded. We received a tasty appetizer beforehand, so we were looking forward to it. We had the Omakase menu, and this boded well. Unfortunately we had to wait about 45 minutes between each bite. The tables around us were quickly and generously served with mouth-watering portions. With fish and meat. We soon start joking that we were the Groupon table. A plate of fried tempura and 45 minutes later a tuna cracker. The portions weren't really filling and even though it takes forever, you don't notice it in your stomach. Sorry, it takes a little longer than usual, the restaurant is about half full. Fortunately, the tables around us were reserved in a timely and filling manner. After a small intervention, the staff understood that it was a bit sparse. To make up for it they had some extras. They still had some fried tempura left from earlier, now with raw peppers and some white fish 😌👍 Guests who arrived an hour later left full again. In the end I gave the little bit of filling, a four-piece sushi roll with (smoked) salmon, to my partner to at least get someone's tummy round. It seemed like the restaurant didn't have or didn't want to count with us when you compared it to other tables. We are honestly not whiners, but after a two-hour drive and all the rave reviews...we had never experienced this before. Oni himself also seemed to understand that it was not entirely possible and tried to make up for it with a cup of coffee. For the price it was really a disappointment and we had to do some shopping afterwards so as not to go to bed hungry.

We had dinner in a relaxed environment. High quality of food and the bento box really interesting. We also enjoyed the fish and bacon rolls. The pink lights that make this Japanese restaurant unusual are very cute. I recommend the upper floor for a romantic dinner for two.

Believe the reviews this place is amazing. All Sushi and Sashimi is very fresh and preparation straight out of Japan itself. Service is super friendly and responsive. Well worth a visit more than once.

This is my go to restaurant when I want good sushi/Japanese food. You have a lot of choice and the food is all fresh and of high quality, I have never been disappointed here and will keep coming back.

Bijna ander half uur moeten wachten op 4 voorgerechten waar we maar 2 hebben gekregen, de andere 2 hebben we maar gecancelled. Eten was prima, maar niet de premium prijs waard.

Cozy Japanese restaurant with very good sushi! I could eat gluten-free, lactose-free, without garlic (onion and garlic) and without avocado, for example. The service was very helpful and the kitchen adapted everything to my dietary requirements. This gave me a lot of choice. Really great! They also had gluten-free soy sauce. The tables are placed in a nice way and at a sufficient distance from each other. Definitely recommended in my opinion, thank you!

Good food, prices for some dishes are quite high (fried rice, salads and katsu chicken, for example) Despite that, you generally get value for money here, the sushi is very good. Not comparable to any random all you can eat. Nice and tidy service!

We got the 4 course surprise menu and they were some of the most delicious dishes we've had, with exception of the Fried rice dish and Salmon, beef and yakitori platter which we found quite average and too drenched in teriyaki sauce. All in all was a great experience and can't wait to be surprised more in the future! Definitely worth visiting!

Lekkerste sushi die ik ooit heb gegeten! En die Sint Jacobschelp met creamy sauce… die moet je gegeten hebben! We hebben vele verschillende gerechten gegeten en met elkaar gedeeld. Super lekker en heerlijk vers.

Delicious food. All dishes are great! Service was less. Constantly asking the staff for something to drink and whether they wanted to clean up. Furthermore, a super nice and tasty tent.

Delicious food in a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. The service just wasn't great. We had to continuously call the waitresses for service ourselves. Other than that it was really good.

We were in The Hague for a weekend and I still had a restaurant gift voucher. I could hand it in here. Then we stand at the door and are blinded by the red/purple lights in the restaurant. It really didn't look cozy inside, strange tables that were very close together and very hot. The chairs were also not comfortable. We were quite hungry so we ordered quite a bit (we thought). Everything came in turn, once we finished one dish it took 10 minutes for the next one to arrive. We didn't like it. We also had to pay €170, and we were not full. You pay just €20 for 8 pieces of sushi. All in all, really not recommended!

Service was friendly and great but a bit forced at times and not warm. Conversations were a bit too hard to have with the background loud music. I expected the place to be more classy and classic, instead of hippy. The menu was very long and confusing we so ended up getting the 5 course menu. Food was a hit or miss in terms of quality and moneys’ worth. Some foods were good and others were average. Presentation was really great though.

Nice and friendly servicing staff. Good, tasteful food. The ambience is modern, colourful lights for dinner. To have a conversation is dreadful. The sound reflects are horrible on the second floor.

Food is highly overrated. Had a 4 course menu of which 2.5 dishes out of 4 were deep fried. No taste sensation at all. Main course we got salmon and rolled beef rolls with vegetables with excessive teriyaki sauce. Service was friendly, but you may have some questions about whether it was worth 170 euros for the 2 of us. Too bad because the service did its best. In that respect, chefs can go back to cooking school. Not recommended!

The three of us had a very delicious meal here during restaurant week. We regularly come here for a bite to eat when we don't feel like cooking. Nice staff and a casual atmosphere. For people who suffer from back pain, it is better to sit upstairs because of chairs that have a backrest.

Meinem Freund und mir wurde geraten einen Tisch zu reservieren. Wir beide waren an einem Sonntagabend, 18.45 Uhr, dort und die Reservierung war unnötig. Abseits von uns waren nur 2 weitere Tische belegt. Positiv war die Qualität des Essens. Wir beide haben Maki und Ramen-Suppen bestellt. Das war wirklich sehr hohe Küche, darüber haben wir uns sehr gefreut. Das Ambiente war ebenfalls sehr schön. Negativ sind uns mehrere Dinge aufgefallen. Wir haben neben Cocktails auch noch 2 Colas bestellt. Diese haben wir den ganzen Abend nicht gesehen. Der Bedienung ist das leider erst nach dem Essen aufgefallen, da brauchten wir die Colas auch nicht mehr. Die Preise sind sehr hoch. Wer Geld ausgeben muss, ist hier willkommener Gast. Für einen Sake Mojito haben wir 15.50€ und für einen Raspberry Mojito 14.50€ gezahlt. Woanders bekommt man beide Getränke in gleicher Qualität für weniger. 4 Maki haben 12.50€ gekostet - waren zwar lecker aber definitiv keine 12.50€ wert. Außerdem haben wir fast eine Stunde auf unser Essen gewartet. Normalerweise haben wir für längere Wartezeiten viel Verständnis - bei einem fast leeren Laden allerdings nicht. Der Hinweis, dass die Bedienung nur zu zweit ist und es deshalb länger dauern kann, kam erst mit den Cocktails. Da haben wir schon knapp 20 Minuten gewartet. Interessant war, dass während wir gewartet haben, mehrere Lieferdienste Kund:innen zu Hause glücklich machen konnten. Ich mag mir gar nicht vorstellen, wie lange diese schon auf ihr Essen gewartet haben. Leider überwiegt das Negative und darüber können wir nicht hinwegsehen. Das ist sehr schade, da wir uns so über den Laden gefreut haben. Empfehlen können wir den Laden aufgrund der oben genannten Dinge daher leider nicht. Wir bedanken uns dennoch für das leckere Essen.

Qualitatives sushi zu stolzen Preisen. Wirklich sehr leckeres authentisches japanisches Essen, jedoch sollte man mit 50€ pro Person rechnen. Außerdem ist mir aufgefallen das es im Restaurant sehr warm war.

Great dinner at Oni! We loved the 3 course surprise menu! You get so much for the first courses with a wide variety of little plates. For the main course we got one fish option and one meat. Small but nice dessert as well. They also accommodate if there's something you don't like in advance. I recommend the oni sunrise cocktail, it was the best I ever had! The only issue we had was regarding the service. The waitresses were really nice! But when she spilled sauce over table when serving the amuse bouche, it was only cleaned when we were served dessert. Other than that, amazing!

Wat een geweldig restaurant….. niet gereserveerd op dinsdag en vol! We moesten even wachten en na 10 minuten en een geweldige cocktail konden we aan tafel. De bediening was lief aardig en attent… We aten sushi, lamsracks , wokshrimps in een geweldige eiersaus, beef rolletjes gevuld en en en en… Het was geweldig…. Dank dank……

The best sushi I've had in The Hague. Recommendation: Sashimi moriawase. Sushi moriawase. Oki ura maki Niguiris: Maguro, Shake, Toro.

Fantastisch eten in een strak minimalistisch ambiance wat heel Japans aanvoelt. Alle gerechten smelten op de tong, vooral de tuna pizza! dat was mijn favoriet! De lychee mocktail was ook super lekker!! En de bediening is heel hartelijk. Kortom mijn vriendinnen en ik hebben een top avond gehad!

Nog een aantal uren geleden hebben wij intens genoten van het eten… super vers en alle het eten zagen eruit als kunstwerkjes. We hebben tuna pizza (OMG!!! Zo lekker! Zelfs mijn vriendin die niet tonijn houdt is fan geworden!), creamy st Jacob schelp en oyster shots als voorgerecht genomen. Usuyaki, shrimp rocks en sushi’s als hoofdgerecht gegeten…. Hemels! Bediening was uitstekend, sfeer zat er goed in… we hadden trouwens ook heerlijke lychee mocktails gedronken! Oni is een dikke vette aanrader!

Ooit gehoord dat dit de beste sushitent van Den Haag is… in 5 jaar tijd nog geen betere gevonden!

Sushi was ok, chicken gyōzas also (sauce not so tasty). But I was disappointed with ramen. It is nowhere close to real ramen. Putting medium rare steak and broccoli in ramen. There was no egg or anything similar that is put in normal ramen.

De sushi en beef was mooi op smaak en zeker het proberen waard. presentatie van de gerechten waren erg mooi en personeel was vriendelijk. er komen hier zeker nog een keer terug.

Gisteren weer fantastisch gegeten. Elke keer weer een feestje. Eten is echt heerlijk. Ruime variatie, zeer vriendelijke bediening. Echt een aanrader!

Als je voor de voordeur staat lijkt het net een winkel toegang. Eenmaal binnen verdwijnt dat idee volledig en kom je terecht in een strak ingericht interieur. Gastvrij welkom geheten en begeleid naar de (gereserveerde) tafel word je vervolgens verrast met bijzondere gerechten. Op een plezierig informele manier word je door de avond geleid. Een topper.

Was heerlijk en vriendelijke bediening. Mooie inrichting.

Voor het geld wat je er besteed mag het er wat meer premium uit zien. Ook dit je als 1m94 persoon niet heel geweldig. Verder ben ik niet zo’n persoon voor dit eten dus daar zeg ik niets over. Heb wel het idee dat ze goed zijn in wat ze leveren.

Best Japanese food I’ve tasted in a long time! The prices are a bit higher, but it’s worth it.

The best sushi I’ve Had in the Netherlands. Great service, great ambiance, good food with many surprising dishes and the restaurant is very cozy but also a bit mysterious. Every time we visit we leave with a smile! 10/10 for Oni!

Meteen als je binnen loopt proef je een rustige kalme sfeer die doet denken aan Japan. Wij hadden het verrasingsmenu en het viel zeer in de smaak. Goede service en goed te bereiken doordat het in het centrum van Den Haag ligt .

Buena cocina japonesa en La Haya, y el personal agradable. Los cócteles son destacables (el mojito de lychees muy sorprendente, si te gustan los lychees) buen sitio y la zona es muy atractiva.
