I've gotten a sandwich three times for my commute. Each time, the rolls were old and soggy instead of baked. You expect to get a nice, fresh sandwich at 8:30. But today was absolutely out of whack. I paid €6 for a "salmon sandwich," but it was a day-old roll with nothing on it. You can't charge people €6 for this. I took two bites and then threw it away.

Next time I pay €2,75 for a stale croissant that was baked when the dinosaurs were still kicking it, take me out to the backyard shed and put me down like old yeller.

Yesterday, September 18th, I bought a sandwich and some other items. The cashier (a tall blonde woman) charged me twice. I paid with my debit card... and they refused to refund me because I didn't have cash... well, legally, they should have refunded me... (First, they offered me the option of buying something else... or contacting the head office for a refund... (But I had to catch a train and didn't have time for this nonsense.) SCAMMERS Undue payment: If you have paid money without legal grounds, such as a double payment, you can reclaim the amount, and the recipient is obligated to repay it according to Article 6:203 of the Dutch Civil Code.

They employ ridiculously bad staff. When you ask if they have decaf coffee, some smart-ass says, "No, but I can flip your cup."

They always treat customers there with condescension and incomprehension when discussing why they can't pay in cash. Then they gloat about the customer behind their back. That happened to me too, and I see it happen regularly from certain employees when I'm in the area to spot it. No wonder they have a 2.2 star rating. Improvement? No way. Plenty of tourism and profit. Why bother?

Stopped in here for a snack before catching our train to Antwerp, to be completely honest I had no idea what I was buying, but that was part of the fun! All 3 items I bought were fresh & tasty. The sugary apple pastry was excellent!

I got a healthy sandwich yesterday, but it wasn't that healthy at all! Halfway on the intercity train to Rotterdam, the "oh so healthy" sandwich came crashing back out. Disgusting! I got serious food poisoning... It's a shame I can't give zero stars, otherwise I definitely would have!

Nothing but old junk and terrible coffee. Not to mention the staff, who unfortunately can only give them a 1-star rating. Because there's absolutely no service. If a customer in front of me accidentally drops their order, they're laughed at right in their face... ASTOUNDING!

*No attention at all for the customer.* Around 12:30 shelves almost empty. Behind the cash register busy with all sorts of things and each other but not with the customer. No good afternoon, have a nice day today and/or see you later. Just rude. Really need a refresher course in customer friendliness!

Chaotic staff, shouting back and forth at each other about the stock, sandwich for the umpteenth time poorly filled for the money you paid for it, and unfortunately I only found out on the train that it was no longer fresh at all, there was a expiration time that had already passed for almost an hour. This was also visible in the lettuce, soft and almost brown. I will skip this case from now on.

They label "kip" but then have bacon/pork inside. Waste of money.

Be clever when it comes to topping their bread. And you will only find out after purchasing!

This is your typical Backwerk. Sandwiches and pastry are OK. Coffee is good. Prices Ok. Plus, if you need to catch a 6 am train from Amsterdam Central, it is the only open place.

What a rotten place, never coming back here again. Healthy sandwiches are no longer available, but they are clearly not given priority, it would take 10 minutes, and I also get yelled at by an employee.

Generally reasonable, but they have given me cow's milk instead of oat milk twice now. Then no time to exchange it of course because I have to catch my train. So no coffee and money wasted...

I just had the worst experience at a coffee shop during my holiday, and I feel compelled to share it as this is my first review ever at 32 years old. The treatment I received from the male staff was the worst I’ve ever encountered in my life.

Had the most ridiculous experience I've had in a while. Ordered a regular coffee after checking that they have oatmilk, I got a black coffee and so i asked to have a little drop of oat milk in (which I saw on the bar, right behind him) but they said that it is only for latte or cappuccino. I said that I only needed a drop, but apparently it was against company policies!! What? I told them that I had checked before I ordered if they had oat milk so they only agreed to give me my money back but refused to pour a drop of milk. I'm still astonished and quite amused by this experience and inflexibility.. just for the record the man who served me was sweet but the man who seemed to be in charge was terribly rude.

Expensive overbaked cheese croisant with some specks of burnt cheese on top. Bitter and dry mess for €2.40. What is good is the service, you will be helped as quickly as possible by 3 cash registers. At the Jumbo on the Damrak (50m) you can get a well-filled ham and cheese croissant for 1.50. Much better.

Carpaccio sandwich is a great sandwich for on the go

A bun with egg salad and pancetta, I had to look very carefully for that pancetta. Half a slice is quite meager!

Made an agreement with a backwerk staff member that a sandwich would be refilled after 15 minutes. She has not fulfilled it. In a train station you have time pressure and responsibilities have to be taken seriously. Especially with a customer. I really wanted a tuna sandwich with white bread. Wasn't asked if there was a possibility for a new one and that would happen after 15 minutes. The colleague who made the appointment with me did not keep the 15 minutes. Other loaves of bread that were barely sold went for the highest paid ones. Staff remained silent and ignored me and let me go as if nothing had happened. Never experienced this. Apparently the staff who worked at that time were not good at coordinating. Shame.

The sandwich I just bought had mold on it. It Was supposed to be edible today (see pictures). As I am already in the train I cannot bring it back. It's a waste of money- better go elsewhere.

So if you ask about a sandwich that has run out, you just have to wait, they cannot give you just one, but you have to wait until the entire crate is full. Thanks, that was my break and still no sandwich.

Some sandwiches are filled in such a way that it seems reasonably filled before you buy it. However, after purchasing the sandwich, you notice that the products are surreptitiously placed at the front of the sandwich so that it presents itself as reasonably filled. But the middle and back of your sandwich have no toppings. Dirty trick on their part! That too for those expensive prices. Shame!

Vegetarian options: completely worthless. Inspirational meat tent. If you want something without meat, you will quickly end up with sweets.

Went there with 5 people to get a quick coffee, 2 cappuccinos and 3 latte machiatos, but instead of the lattes we got 3 lattes. When we asked, the woman behind the counter said we had ordered café lattes and that if we had wanted the macchiato we should have been clearer even though 3 people had clearly said they wanted a macchiato latte. The lady was also quite curt about it.

Money wolves. Charge extra money for Single Use Plastics while something is packaged in cardboard.

Lekkere broodjes. Looproute is wat onhandig.

Niet leuk om er in de trein achter te komen dat (voor de zoveelste keer) er geen pancetta zit op mijn broodje eiersalade… zo worden ze wel verkocht en staat ook op de verpakking. Ook het eeuwige gedoe over contant en pinnen is niet echt top. Winkel is ook aan de kleine kant waardoor je bijna niet naar buiten kan als er een rij staat.

Fijne prijs. Weinig sfeer. Je krijgt waarvoor je betaald

Toen ik hier in de ochtend aankwam hadden ze de hot sandwich tuna melt niet. Terwijl ze wel de andere hot sandwiches hadden...
